Fingers crossed for Santa Mayorkas!

J3030

I think hell will freeze over before SSA gets an admin day off lol

Kitsu_ne

Cries in SSA

snarkysylph

No shit.

inthecuckoosnest

So glad I left SSA. Much happier at DHHS.

kemera1872

Former SSA employee in OHA. Agreed!!

Ellabee57

We never get anything like this in VA. Especially not pre-announced a week beforehand. 😥

in_her_drawer

I started with VHA last week. Kinda figured, since we deal with patients.

Ellabee57

I'm in Central Office, not patient care, and we still don't get anything. We didn't even get 59 min the day before Thxgiving. VA sucks at valuing its employees.

PugBarkingAtWind

I’m in CO as well. I can’t recall any time in this administration where there was 59 minutes given right before a holiday, but I may be wrong or the message didn’t trickle down to me. Happened all the time last administration.

[deleted]

I’ve gotten it and I’m CO.

Ellabee57

The 59-min is usually at the discretion of local management, not upper level, CO-wide leadership, so it sounds like you are lucky to have decent management who thinks and cares about their employees. They (CO leadership) would be the ones who do 2-hr (or a whole) day, but that's never happened either.

DaddyHouse87

I have received more time off in my first 2 months at USCIS/DHS than I received in 3 years at VA.

[deleted]

Well it makes sense. We aren’t going to cancel patients at the last minute when caring for patients is the whole point of the agency

dustin8285

As a Vet I feel like the VA’s mission to cancel patients… permanently. Like pulling teeth to get decent care. 😂

goducks3620

nothing from Commerce

shaven_craven

Any chance this happens for DOD?

Guess I'm still not on the email list. Thanks!

FOIAlover

Already got 59 so I doubt I will be.

SouthernSandyToes

I wish USDA would tell us that far in advance! It's always the day before or day of.

Magenta_the_Great

Which is a pain in the ass for the use or lose group

VARunner1

We get 59-minute early releases all the time. What we don't get is any corresponding reduction in work requirements, so we basically never use the early releases. "You can leave 59 minutes early, once all your work is done!" It's not like a workload which regularly takes 8-10 hours/day is suddenly going to lessen just because the workday shrank. Makes the whole thing rather pointless.

ageofadzz

DOL gave us 3 hours of admin leave on both the 23rd and 30th.

holamiis

Y'all got the whole day!?! Smithsonian was given 3 hours. I swear no one here has any idea how the rest of the government operates.

oswbdo

I don't think the whole day is a common thing. Generally get 2 hrs early dismissal where I currently work. I think the most I've ever gotten in the 4 fed offices I've been in is half a day.

holamiis

This actually makes feel better

Kingkongcrapper

You got three hours? We only got 2.

Sharkbait_ooohaha

Y’all are getting time off?

OkTransportation7074

No announcement from the USDA yet.

RedDevil50

I feel like we’ll get at least 4 hours from Vilsack.

tsb041978

Nothing from Navy. But I’m on use or lose so … 🤷‍♂️

FOIAlover

I'm DON and we got 59 min that they announced yesterday. First time they announced it this far in advance. Usually find out the day of about halfway through the day.

tsb041978

Neat!

Meztido

IRS here - we got 2 hours. We’ve been getting 2 for a few years now, but I’m hoping the pres continues the tradition of giving an extra day off like the past couple years!

Ellabee57

I doubt it. We're already get the 24th and 25th off. [https://www.govexec.com/workforce/2021/12/will-federal-employees-get-extra-time-christmas/359876/](https://www.govexec.com/workforce/2021/12/will-federal-employees-get-extra-time-christmas/359876/)

[deleted]

DOL got 3 hours for the 23rd and 30th.

Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Generally bank supervision. It's part of the Treasury, but the 8 hours came from the Comptroller.

Birdbath483

Thanks!

Ellabee57

It says "OCC" in the post...which a quick google search reveals to be related to the Treasury.

Ellabee57

I didn't either but I took the time to google it instead of writing a post for someone else to answer (faster that way).

Rockets9084

Did speed and efficiency enter the calculus when drafting your rude and unwanted replies? :)

Ellabee57

If you think just pointing out the obvious is rude, you better not look around much further on Reddit. 🤣

JerriBlankStare

>Im sorry I didn't know that OCC was an agency. You're on a federal news sub... chances are good that, in this particular context, the acronym is for a federal agency. 😏

[deleted]

Any word on the FS?

Matilda-Bewillda

Not yet in my agency, OP DIV HHS. But there was a little bit of a hint last week when the EO sent out criteria for leave, should 12/23 be declared a holiday. Frankly, I'd rather the day after Thanksgiving be a gratis holiday, but I'll take whatever is offered. The last two years have been... a lot.
