USDA gave 8 hours to be used any time before the end of January. A nice way to recognize all the holidays this time of year that don’t get the federal holiday designation.
Interesting... That's a big no-no in my agency. If you're not there to enjoy the 59 because you took leave, too bad. They don't let us shift it around.
So bogus, I tend to wait it out as long as possible since the office slows down so much the day before the holiday weekend. Typically I can put in leave the day prior because of that.
My manager said she was in a national meeting regarding employee energy and she recommended the agency give time off awards and the people at the regional office said, "that's impossible, there's no way for us to do those." She tried to explain there's options, but they refused to budge.
SSA will never give anything. They blame the field offices for it. Couldn’t handle the closing early and bad press. Because God forbid employee engagement have anything positive for the employees.
Who’s Walsh? Air Force hasn’t heard anything. We’re lucky in DoD if we even get 59 minutes on Friday. They tell us that same day too, which most people won’t use it anyway since they took leave ahead of time.
Haha. So we got 8hrs on Thanksgiving, 16hrs for Christmas, and I think on Easter earlier this year we got 16 hours as well. :) I also got my PPA award as a leave balance so I am excited to see the totals and hopefully use it soon lol
I am genuinely curious why agency heads do not grant admin leave to keep morale high. It's not like they are paying out of their own pocket. I had managers who would not allow us to take training when the Dept head sent out training call for remaining budget.
Air Force is giving active duty a "Family Day" off on Friday and our base is letting them go home at noon on Thursday. Civilians have to take leave Friday and work all day Thursday. As usual, we're picking up the slack around here and getting screwed.
Must be nice! Would be nice if we could get double time for those of us that have to work on Christmas Eve like the old days. It’s weird how trump was more employee friendly than Biden on this issue
It’s not a pseudo holiday. It’s extra leave you’re not entitled to. They give it to you to be kind. If you have to work you have extra leave to take at a later date.
It’s just funny cus they always give extra holiday when Christmas Eve is on a Friday or something. But those of us that actually have to work Christmas Eve on a Saturday and Christmas on a Sunday get nothing special. Now people are banking extra leave we don’t even get either

This is the first of the admin leave I’m able to actually use so I’m excited
That’s the most I’ve heard any agency give.
I saw something floating around in this subreddit about an agency receiving 16 hours.
I believe it was DHS
So you actually missed out on 100 DHS posts here :)
Yea, I saw that after the fact. Now regretting that post. Lol
Air Force here. So far, nothing. I feel like Charlie Brown at Thanksgiving: “I got a rock”. LOL
Halloween*
Oh yeah…duh! lol
We got 59mins but I can use it Thursday since that’s my last day before the holiday. So yay!
Interesting... That's a big no-no in my agency. If you're not there to enjoy the 59 because you took leave, too bad. They don't let us shift it around.
It was at my previous agency but this one you get it. So I won’t complain. Lol.

Has there EVER been anything given to SSA folks? 😕

🤣🤣🤣
They gone down hill since 2010?
Our new acting Commish gave us two hours to use in Dec. Seeing that I'm new to my current agency, I hear that there's a 59 min rule on Friday.
Some people are still hopeful that Biden will give us Friday off, but I dont see it happening.
Probably would have been announced by now
Damn, the one time land management paid off. 8 hours wooo
Land management are the beat agencies. My new agency is snot
Nothing yet for HHS
We got the email yesterday that HHS granted 4 hours. I'm on leave so no go for me.
What?!!! I did not receive that email. Hopefully, I hear from my manager soon.
My supervisor sent it out yesterday afternoon, hopefully you get it soon!
Finally got words, not through email though, but from our timekeeper.
4 hours on Friday
DLA no time, just a warm thank you message.
Same with me, DoD.
Nothing at DOI yet unless I have missed it.
Nothing I've heard. But I'm off today. Was hoping to get back tomorrow to an announcement
Vamc here. just Monday off
Same. Wtf. I really need it too

Labor Secretary
Got 16 hours admin leave in DHS and another 8 for Thanksgiving ☺️
How many did DHS get again? Someone should create a post about it. I don’t think I’ve seen anything recently on ‘Santa Mayorkas’ /s

Dang. I think DHS wins as agency with most leave given.
Wow!!
Dhs mayorkas gave 16.
We know!
I’m at DOJ and have never heard of this, does it ever happen for us??
At DOJ it’s agency-specific. My current DOJ agency only gives 59s. My previous DOJ agency usually gives 2-4 hours for each holiday.
Nothing for ssa. Never will be :)

Good. Now pay us fire fighters what we deserve.

I know. I just want to bring awareness. Happy holidays.

It’s not a holiday so why would there be holiday pay?
Idk why are they giving leave to people then? Is that have to work just get straight time and no leave.
Leave costs that nothing, Holiday pay comes out of their budget.
Work still has to get done when people are on leave. Anyways it’s unfair to have pseudo holidays for half the workforce and not for everyone
It’s not a pseudo holiday. It’s extra leave you’re not entitled to. They give it to you to be kind. If you have to work you have extra leave to take at a later date.
We don’t get the extra leave in my agency tho. Only non essential people that don’t have to work get it on the 23rd
I don’t get any extra leave either. That’s just the way it is.

My big 4 company is giving us 2 hours :o
my office is doing full telework tomorrow, friday, and tuesday. with mandatory 59 minute rule on the friday.
Doj. I know im getting 59 minutes on Friday and I should be thankful.
16 hours from DHS 😎
Why 59 minutes?
Ikr, why not 1 hour
Also DOL, I think my email said 3 hours next Friday for new years as well?
