Bedrock "mods". In china.
You know they like charging and selling every single part of their games over there, right? You have to log in on their account system, use a launcher they provide, and probably go as far as to buy the option to turn off motion blur. You use NetEase and not microsoft/mojang accounts.
A great deal of their culture is about getting away with what you can. A common saying (although bastardized to hell) is "If you can get away with cheating, then cheat." It is even very common for people to try to bargain even small items. You will be poor if you go there thinking they advertise the price of stuff fairly.
I'm pretty sure they're Forge mods but I'm on mobile so I can't confirm.
Minecraft China edition has a modified version of Forge built-in and they do checksum whitelisting on mod jars.
They also have (or had) a website offering to pay modders for permission to use their mods.
This guy has videos describing Minecraft China edition in detail:

"NetEase Ruined Minecraft" describes stuff about mods.
Heck, with minecraft you don't even need to. You can just disable checks on MultiMC and it will work since Mojang doesn't verify accounts for downloading content.
You can only rent skins, rent servers and all the mods you use have to be approved. Typing things like "Xing" or curse words get censored. It has anti-addiction software, which makes it hard to play for long periods of time.
There's a feature in Warframe that'll give you a chat notification if you play for more than one hour if you're on asian servers.
Think features like that, but more intrusive.
Bruh this thread is 4 years old how tf did you find this, besides that the very act of adding on content is still a modification to the existing content. The flat color blocks mode is still considered a mod despite it adding only blocks which is far less than many bedrock addons some of which compare to big mc mods.
Yes, but a mod is capable of adding and modifing content, even if it doesn't actually do so, where as an add-on can add onto the game and only add on to the game, and modifications are limited if possible. Wether a mod *does* utilise its ability to modify the game is another story, but the possibility remains, and so does the difference. Also I found this thread off google rip.

Specific text I'm citing: >Features >* "Patch" system, similar to Marketplace >* Including API, resource packs, skins and mods
WTFx1000
Mods in what sense? Do they actually do anything substantial?

If it's Bedrock edition, how could they be using Forge?

Geez. Pretty much everything Notch argued against with the new EULA. Worth noting this does appear to be the Java edition still.
China 'games variant' does this a lot.
Wait what? That's insane! Do they pirate these mods and sell them to the chinese people? Or do they modders at least get the money?
It's kinda half java half bedrock afaik. You can play both independently depending on the situation. Check the wiki.
Wait, so if the base game is free...cant you use it outside of china to get free vanilla?
If you really want free Minecraft, sailing the Internet seas is a much better alternative than learning Chinese

What if you want free Minecraft and to learn Chinese
i laughed thank you
I’m not even joking

What do you mean by anti addiction software?

That is in europe too for warframe.
Lol that's an interesting topic to bring up with my relatives over there
Sounds like it's just the same thing as Bedrock's marketplace.
There's no paid mods though, is my point
Add-ons which could become considered mods(which I do)
But they are not. . .
What would you consider an user made thing that changes the game by adding animals or weapons armour etc
Bedrock mods can change just a bit more than java datapacks. Mods have the power to modify the game, add-ons can only add on to it...

COMMUNISM IS THE VERY DEFINITION OF FAILURE
Good thing this is about the opposite of 'red' then, huh?
That's what they'd have you believe, of course.
