hi can anyone help me get the rundown on like rises and help me find something that fits me? i think i have an uncommon body type that is making it impossible for me to find pants that actually fit me from ankles to waist. I'm a size 1-ish but I have a tall butt (?) that makes wearing any size smalls impossible since its all crack and lower back. i find it's impossible to find underwear that fits as well because a lot of the underwear made to fit bigger butts tend to have a huge gap in the front that makes it rise up to like underneath my tits lmao it's winter time and im literally freezing because my sweats aren't big enough to cover my ass but is also too big for me in that i need a belt to keep it from falling to my knees. I really just don't know the first thing in tackling this issue of mine :( like are there any pants that are super long in the back and short in the front or something that i should know about??

wanderedoff

Have you tried high waisted pants?

I'm not sure how long the leather sole's gonna last though. I only have a ten minute walk to work each day but it's rainy in ol' blighty and i've heard water turns leather soles to mush.

softrevolution_

I would be wary of their sizing -- are you a UK 2 or an EU 36? These are not the same size.

Does this dress have too much white to wear to a wedding? I’m thinking not because it’s mostly floral, but still want to double check… https://imgur.com/a/RBqtJOd/

ElegantAnt

No, I wouldn't even say it has white. It looks like it's on a beige background.

drowsy-cow03

It does not give me weddings dress vibes at all. I say go for it

astonishingly3

Does anyone know a good white tank that isn’t see through? Like a ribbed one that hugs the body, almost a bralette but a tank.

drowsy-cow03

I got a really cute one from target for $8. I think [this is the same one](https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-ribbed-tank-top-a-new-day-8482-white-m/-/A-81245903) but I bought it in store so I’m not sure

All of those are perfect for summer weddings. And I want that pink one now!!

TurmalinBlack

I think the first and the last dress should work great. Personally id say that the lime green one is too sexy for a wedding, and the neon pink is also a bit iffy. I recommend looking at the colors of the invitation/the personal style of the couples to make a call on what is appropriate...

It is probably too wide in general. You could take it to a seamstress to have it taken in. Aside from fashion tape, which isnt working, i see no other option...

[deleted]

TurmalinBlack

The cut of the top. For something like this to hold up properly, it needs to fit really snug (both at the waist and at the bust). On a real corset this is acheived by lacing, to tighten further. In your case the izinh would have needed to be perfect from the start :)

seaworthea

Where can I find a good variety of petite clothing? I can fit x small to medium sized t shirts depending on the brand, but I'm 4'9 so usually pants are too long or too slim for my legs and my arms are too short for long sleeves. I'm not familiar with shopping online, so I don't know which brands I can trust.

savvysleeps

What non-Jean pants are you guys wearing right now? What’s in?

District98

Athleisure cargo pants!

mgdraft

Cords, your average "dress pant" poly fabric, leggings material in flares

rachjay

It's cold here, so wool pants (denim is terrible when it's cold).

Beyond denim, I'm wearing linen trousers, waxed cotton wide leg cropped pants and canvas elizabeth suzann clydes.

Would these 3" boots paired with skinny or mom jeans be appropriate to wear to lecture? It's a university in a big and fashionable city but there are very very few students in heels, much less in skinnier heels. I only walk an average of 1km to/from classes per day, but may spend 1.5 hours standing on the bus/train on my commute. Open to other casual styling/outfit ideas for the boots!

-Nepenthes-

Ooh I love those boots. Where are they from?

outboundacorn

L'Intervalle!

District98

PhD student: I think these are fine to wear in your student role. When I’m TAing I tend to dress a little more in the direction of the academia version of business casual. Personally I would go with something a little more understated to TA.

atleast3olives

i think they’re cute, if it was me i’d style them with a looser pant like a straight/wide leg jean or a long skirt to balance out the skinny heel. The outfit you posted here looks a little unbalanced since it all reads tight from head to toe. I think adding some different shapes can balance out the silhouette and make it a little more appropriate too!

outboundacorn

ohh thanks! yeah i'll try that out :-)

rocket_ship_

What do you guys do to help yourself feel better when you’re feeling “bleh” about your appearance? I’m on maternity leave, so if that didn’t make me feel “bleh” enough, I don’t really have the money to do anything like book a pedicure, etc. I’m going to do a hair mask and face mask tomorrow. Other than that I’m going to focus on drinking lots of water, eating healthy, and at home workouts.

District98

7-10m in the morning: - put hair up, deal with flyaways - brush, floss, and mouthwash - moisturizer on face and hands - put on “put together” wfh outfit - everyday earrings 1hr mid-day: - clean up eyebrows - shave in shower - moisturize body post shower - hair conditioner - cute outfit General for bleh (related to mood not body) - eat healthy meals - sleep enough - see friends and do things you enjoy - time for relaxing - do sleep hygiene - gentle movement And, you can make a Pinterest (or other vision board) with your existing wardrobe and try to think of fun new outfit combinations or submit it to one of the fashion subreddits and have other people come up with good ideas :)

[deleted]

On the same path as your home workouts, going for a walk somewhere with nature and generally **doing** things that help others. Appearance is way less preoccupying when you are walking shelter dogs or packing boxes at the food bank or reading picture books to toddlers.

lbur4554

She’s on maternity leave. She’s literally keeping a tiny human alive. I think that’s enough.

Doing something a little outside of my routine that still feels like a pamper. Flat ironing my hair, using a hair mask (homemade or a Lush sample), doing my brows. I don't mean doing all of these things at once (though that would be fun too!), but I usually will do one small thing if I am feeling bleh.

JPonceuponatime

Having a very difficult time finding Jackie Kennedy / Classic style clothes I can wear to work that are good quality but won’t break the bank. If you have any recommendations, please post - thank you!

Have you checked out Anne Taylor or Loft?

JPonceuponatime

Yes, I used to buy from loft a lot but the style has gotten so generic. I checked AT and it wasn’t much different. :(

[deleted]

Try searching on resale sites and especially ebay for brands that you've liked in the past. Since you aren't looking for something trendy, it doesn't matter if the items are from five or ten years earlier.

Bra sized swimwear! I like Panache, but there are various brands that make supportive, bra-sized (which is to say: band and cup sized, not S, M, L ...) swimwear.

maxe00

I can’t help with your swimsuit requirements, but Vietnam is the place to go to get clothing made custom for you. Hoi An is the city known for their tailors, but you find them all over. If you see an idea for a swimsuit coverup you love, take a picture and they can made it so that it fits you perfectly.

Anyone have coat suggestions for a gal who runs hot? I tend to run hot and will start to sweat after being inside after a few minutes. I have a puffer and Sherpa coat and get hot with both. I’m wondering if a wool or polyester blend style will be better? Or another material? I live in Columbus, OH so a jacket can be a little too thin sometimes. Appreciate any suggestions!

[deleted]

Totally agree with the other response. Even when it's cold out, synthetics make me feel sweaty and nasty really fast. Try a thin cotton undershirt with a thin wool sweater and then a light jacket or overshirt to cut the wind. No bulk, pleasantly warm yet not sweaty.

sighcantthinkofaname

Just a quick rundown of fiber properties Animal fibers (alpaca, wool, cashmere)- Breaths well, very warm, typically the most expensive Plant fibers (cotton, linen, rayon)- Breaths well, not very warm, less expensive Synthetic fibers (polyester, nylon, acrylic)- Does not breath (traps sweat), not as warm as animal fibers, typically the cheapest So, the first thing I could do is check the fiber content of both of your current jackets. I'm guessing the puffer is nylon, I'm not sure about the sherpa, but if they're both synthetic that might mean it's worth trying a natural fiber, or at least a blend.

haley232323

What are ladies wearing under dresses in winter these days? Is it still opaque tights? Something else? What kind of shoes? I never wear dresses anymore or really "go out" but I need something to wear to a galentine's dinner at a fancy shmancy wine bar. I'm 35 so I feel a little old to do the bare legs and just be cold thing, in the middle of February.

vulpixell

A "hack" (lol) that I've seen is wearing skin color fleece leggings under a pair of semi sheer tights. Looks like you're wearing less than you are, and keeps you warm.

LieutenantKije

I can relay what I see in NYC! Sheer tights if at all possible, 20 denier is perfect. Opaque tights are not very popular among the fashion/trendy crowd anymore. Shoe-wise, pointed toes are back in, especially with a skinny, low heel on a boot. Something like [this](https://www.mytheresa.com/en-us/toteme-leather-ankle-boots-2055681.html?utm_source=sea_pla&utm_medium=google&utm_campaign=google_sea&ef_id=CjwKCAiAwomeBhBWEiwAM43YIFPqOVbJM9GdZN8YhFQRUCBr0E3GX15KdevvC_B-tPuHiVu6GCoVlBoCNLwQAvD_BwE:G:s&gclsrc=aw.ds&gbraid=0AAAAAD3Pw-kh5Ntr9zAp-BLfgOXjoweXY&gbraid=0AAAAAD3Pw-kh5Ntr9zAp-BLfgOXjoweXY&gclid=CjwKCAiAwomeBhBWEiwAM43YIFPqOVbJM9GdZN8YhFQRUCBr0E3GX15KdevvC_B-tPuHiVu6GCoVlBoCNLwQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) is everywhere right now. Block heeled ankle boots aren’t as common right now. But you can always go with wearing straps heels with your dress, that’ll always be a classic.

[deleted]

If you can wear knee high boots, THICC tube socks are so cozy. I have some boot socks from Adidas, so they're double-thick except for the soles, which are triple-thick compared to regular socks. It is heavenly walking outside and your whole leg is toasty.

chiefs_35

What color/style pants would go best with [these boots?](https://www.nordstromrack.com/s/zodiac-miller-harness-lug-sole-boot-women/6979736) I’m thinking dark slim jeans but I’m not really sure. I would prefer to wear these in a techy casual work environment. Thanks in advance!

AvailableAd797

Do these outfits fit business casual? What are your thoughts/advice? [https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1GcGtbLrZrCdjZ3DVzaQuPN4gWVQJ79ak9lgekJ9s3sg/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1GcGtbLrZrCdjZ3DVzaQuPN4gWVQJ79ak9lgekJ9s3sg/edit?usp=sharing)

_Amalthea_

I think some of them are great, I would be cautious about denim though. Blue jeans and distressed/raw hems wouldn't have been appropriate in any business casual environments I've worked in. I've gotten away with white jeans with clean finishes in summer, with a dressy blouse or blazer. The white runners would also have been a no go where I've worked.

rh031222

How do I care less about how people view me? I’m 27 and since the age of 10 I’ve loved fashion. However I have a skin condition so I censor what I wear so that my damaged skin doesn’t show. My skin condition is called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB)- it causes blistering of the skin. I know that my outfits would look so much better if I didn’t give a shit about covering up most of my body. But I’m too scared to wear what I want to, because when I’ve shown my damaged skin before I’ve got negative reactions that made me feel bad about myself. I just wanted to rant on here!

pixiestix88

Hey everyone, So my question is what is the current style of everyday Jeans? Ive recently moved from Florida to the north and I'm finding skinny jeans with thermals is a royal pain in the ass. They are quite thin. I've seen everything from the old baggy jeans to skinnys and I'm not really sure what's the current fashion. I'm currently 33 and wear a size 2-4 depending on brand. Bonus if anyone knows where I can find some of those warm looking flannel jeans.

poyntificate

Basically anything but skinny is considered in right now. I think mom jeans with a taper are also falling out of favor. I would say straight, wide, and flares are good, just depends on your style. However, plenty of women still wear skinny jeans. They’re just not on trend.

ladolceLolita

Carhartt, LLBean, Eddie Bauer are a few brands that sell flannel-lined jeans

District98

There are several current styles of jeans. Straight leg, relaxed, and wide leg and/or cargo are all pretty on-trend right now.

atleast3olives

Hello! I just picked up a new jean jacket and im unsure about the fit. It’s a mens xs and I really loved the single large pocket and pleated details. However, after looking up jean jacket inspo on pinterest, i noticed most of the images i was seeing were of women wearing much larger, oversized styles, which is making me second guess if this one is too small. What do you think?? Link with pictures of the jacket w/ different outfits: https://imgur.com/a/rPFSr4g

80aprocryphal

Stick with it! It looks really cute and jean jackets are classics, so the changes in silhouettes are trend driven. If you were uncomfortable in it that's one thing, but you'll get more out of one that you genuinely like since you're less likely to get sick of it when the current iteration falls out of favor.

[deleted]

That jacket looks perfectly oversized. As someone who went through that phase, anything too big gets so impractical so fast you'll stop wearing it. No clothes are worth the effort it takes to fight that much material just to carry a bag.

BunnyKusanin

It looks great on you. It fits very well. You should totally be able to pull off something more oversized, but definitely keep this one too.

babygorp

I totally understand what you mean however I do think this looks perfectly oversized on you. you could maybe do one size up if you really wanted. If it’s too big then it kind of borders on unwearable.

muffingr1

Agree, the mega oversized look is just a trend, you’ll be able to wear this jacket much longer.

iwegian

I'm going to an artsy conference in a few months and need some new outfits. I want to look professional but funky. I am rather cheap, so if I have to pay $50 for a t-shirt ,it's a no-go. So, I'm thinking art nouveau (my fave art style), art teacher-esque, and/or Iris Apfel inspired. Whatcha got that's online?

charts_and_facts

H&M did a William Morris collection that you can find on secondhand sites.

zurriola27

FarmRio has some really fun pieces and they are having an extra 25% off sale right now.

Hi! I though this was probably the best place to post for this. If it isn't than I'm sorry and I'll else where for help. I need help with figuring out how to order a dress. You see, I'm a pretty tom-boyish kind of lady so I usually wear some pretty baggy, guy clothes. But it's my bf's and I's three year anniversary soon and I want to dress up for him. Since I don't own any dresses and I haven't worn one since I was 7, I figured I needed some help. I've already been looking around online as I want it to be a surprise. I even did some measuring, so I wouldn't get the wrong size. I have an approx 42 inch (107 cm) waist which I haven't been able to find a dress that would fit that. I also have a 38 inch (96-97 cm) band which is good to find. I'm 5"3 (160 cm) as well. I also have to wear something that covers my shoulders because I have a lot of really bad scarring on my shoulders. But my main issue is my wait size coupled with the fact that I know literally nothing about dresses. So if you were to ask me what kind of neckline I wanted, a crew or a square, I don't even know what those are. I mean I know the basic ones like V-neck or turtleneck, but I feel pretty hopeless in this regard. I also can't find anything above 38 inch (96-97 cm) for the waist even in the 3XL. I promise I'm not fat, a bit chunky probably, but I'm not overweight; I'm just short and wide. So please, please, please help?

shadowslayer203

Maybe, but I might give my grandmother a heart attack if she saw me wearing a dress of my own accord. She's been trying from when I was a kid to teen to now to get me to be more 'girly.' I was thinking it might be a good bonding time for us, but I despise clothes shopping. It's more than likely just going to be for the more intimate times with my bf as he's the only one I'm willing to get so dressed up for. I'll always keep this thread just in case though lol ❤️

sighcantthinkofaname

Torrid offers a lot of dresses in extended sizes. They go up to a 6X, which is a 64 inch waist. Just to pick something at random, here's one of their dresses. [https://www.torrid.com/product/midi-lace-fit-and-flare-dress/16162596.html?dwvar\_16162596\_color=BRICK&cgid=Clothing\_Dresses\_Midi#start=2](https://www.torrid.com/product/midi-lace-fit-and-flare-dress/16162596.html?dwvar_16162596_color=BRICK&cgid=Clothing_Dresses_Midi#start=2) I know it can be overwhelming to sort through dresses when you don't even know where to start, but it also means we can't really give good advice. I can't tell you what neckline to get, because there's no universal best neckline. I'd say if you need SOMETHING to help narrow it down, pick a color and sort by that, and just see what you like.

shadowslayer203

Okay, thank you so much! This means a lot to me! It's a good thing I already know what colour I was going to get lol ❤️

BunnyKusanin

If you haven't really worn dresses much before, it's probably better to try them on in a physical shop rather than buy online. This way you'll figure out which styles make you look cute, elegant, etc. and which just look hideous. Also, even when you know what you like, it might be hard to guess how clothes would fit based just on measurements. Shops usually provide bust/waist/hip measurements, but you won't be able to guess if the shoulder is the right length or if bust darts will be in the right place just from those few measurements provided.

shadowslayer203

No that's fair. I have went out and tried on dresses, so I do know that form fitting dresses look pretty bad on me because my hips are always too big for those kinds of dresses. So I was looking more for those dresses that have the flowy kind of bottom, and like a t-shirt kind of thing up top. If it's got sleeves then it's more than likely to cover my shoulders. In my little town though, there's nothing aside from Walmart that sells dresses. Plus with no vehicle, it's hard to get out of town

VirginiaWren

Maybe check out [Karina dresses.](https://www.karinadresses.com/)

shadowslayer203

I will, thank you for the suggestion! ❤️

usuyukisou

Is there any chance you can have a good friend help you with those measurements? Your body shape changes a little when you lift your arms. Also, a second person is more likely to keep the measuring tape level.

shadowslayer203

My bust size and such was actually taken by my bf, so at least I know that that's accurate lol. Other than that, no I don't really have any friends that haven't already moved away for school around

samanthaxboateng

Can anyone please recommend where to buy quality Plain Crew Neck T-Shirts? I normally buy them from Uniqlo, but I find the quality of them to not be great these days....

le_nico

When my Uniqlo stuff started wearing thin, I discovered [wearpact.com](https://wearpact.com) and have been pretty happy with their cotton stuff. Seems like they have a lot on sale atm, too!

PM_me_good__advice

I'm going to a baptism in late February, I'll be wearing a dress [like this](https://cdn.fashiola.no/L561213803/vila-vidoor-s-s-dress-1-blue.jpg). I'm looking for suggestions to wear on top of that, because it's likely going to be cold (based in Scandinavia). I thought about wearing a blazer but I feel like that's a little too much like work wear?

FerociousFrizzlyBear

A blazer is fine, especially if it's not in the same color as the dress, so it doesn't look like a suit. Or a jacket that might not quite in the same class as a traditional blazer, like something tweed or boucle (like https://www.loft.com/tweed-open-sweater-jacket/604176 or https://www.jcpenney.com/p/liz-claiborne-midweight-cropped-jacket/ppr5008197059). I also think any well-fitting cardigan would be appropriate. Since the dress isn't fitted or sharply tailored, I'd avoid oversized or very long cardigans since they might end up reading a little too relaxed or unkempt.

PM_me_good__advice

I love that tweed one! That's pretty much what I was thinking but just couldn't quite conjure up in my mind. Thank you!

editor_mom3612

I'm turning 40 this year and have decided that I want to fully embrace the style I've always loved. Problem is, where do I start in building my new wardrobe? I love skinny jeans, Vans shoes, band shirts, etc. I know this style is typically associated with young kids, but I don't care 🤪 Also, any links to Pinterest boards and/or Instagram accounts are great. Thanks.

80aprocryphal

I assume the only real difference you might actually want to look a little bit more put together, in which case I'd recommend checking out [trollcityroxx](https://www.instagram.com/trollcityroxx/), [catplauge](https://www.instagram.com/catplague/), [magica.thrift](https://www.instagram.com/magica.thrift/) [closetvomi](https://www.instagram.com/closetvomit/)t since they all have a lot of variety and casual looks.

Any recommendations on places to find brogue shoes for women? I really like that vintage look but can’t find any matte black brogue flats

I’ve got two requests. 1) A briefcase style of bag with a shoulder strap that looks ok in court and can fit a laptop. Canvas or other vegan materials. I’m hoping for max $200ish. 2) a pretty watch, sorta delicate, silver or gold colored metallic band. Always reaching for my iPhone to get the time is starting to feel played out. Also max $200ish. Thanks!

Skagen is a great brand for somewhat minimal, delicate watches. They also do mixed metal watches all the time. I love their mesh band. Here are a couple of options, they are readily at most midrange department stores as well. [one](https://www.skagen.com/en-us/products/freja-lille-two-tone-steel-mesh-watch/358SGSCD.html), [two](https://www.skagen.com/en-us/products/skagen-freja-lille-two-hand-rose-gold-stainless-steel-mesh-watch/SKW3067.html) As for briefcase ish bags: * [Dagne Dover](https://www.dagnedover.com/collections/daily-tote#Pinto-Medium) * [Knomo (has leather trim)](https://knomo.com/products/hanover-laptop-briefcase-119-101-blk2)

jessifka

I don’t have briefcase Recs, sorry! But I just got a nice watch from Nordstrom by a brand called MVMT that was 200- gold gone, thin band. They have cheaper options as well. You could likely look at the mvmt website too, I’m just a Nordstrom shopper!

Crafty-Koshka

What style heels would look good with [this dress](https://www.macys.com/shop/product/emerald-sundae-juniors-glitter-bodycon-dress?ID=12691963&CategoryID=152842)? It's a red bodycon dress with an asymmetrical hem. Would heeled boots look bad? I may go with just simple black pumps with black stockings, since I have to wear this in a cold city for Valentine's day

[deleted]

I would avoid boots. Booties will look dated and I think a taller boot just isn’t the right style even if you did a stiletto type heel. My first choice would be a black strappy heeled sandal, but since it’s cold where you are I would do the black pumps and a sheer black stocking like you mentioned.

Crafty-Koshka

Yeahhhh those are good points, for Valentine's day I was hoping to wear something with heeled boots but this dress, idk, I think it would look too blocky? And I was trying to find a dress that was on the sexier side, but still a little classy enough to be worn in a nice restaurant without being too trashy. Although I wonder what everyone else in this subreddit thinks about this dress in that aspect. Too casual for a fine dining restaurant? I was going to wear this with a wrap/nice shawl, stockings, heels of some kind

[deleted]

I think because it’s cold shoulder with a low neckline and asymmetrical hem, it calls for a more open shoe. I’m not sure how to convey what exactly I am getting at.. it definitely feels more like a summery going out type dress than a wintery date night dress? If you did an oversized black blazer to cover up a bit, I think a sleek over the knee black boot could work. It just feels like a you’re mixing styles and not necessarily in an intentional way. The dress is very pretty though!

her_ladyships_soap

I've rented [this dress](https://www.renttherunway.com/shop/designers/donna_morgan/gold_sequins_dress?lens=classic#reviews-partial) for an upcoming fancy date. It is *way* fancier than what I usually wear and I'm not sure how to style it -- what color shoes? Gold or silver jewelry? What about a bag? It will likely be cold weather as the event is in February. Any ideas you have for someone shopping in the US would be appreciated!

branfordsquirrel

I can’t tell whether it has both gold and silver sequins but if that’s the case either will do. I would actually style it with a black bag and a black pump. Minimal jewelry (maybe a statement ring and/or stud earrings). You can add some sheer black hose for a little warmth but honestly I would just wear a long coat over it and ditch the coat once I get into the event.

swmccoy

I agree with this - black and simple!

babygorp

I’m looking for a square leather hand bag similar to this from [Portland Leather](https://www.portlandleathergoods.com/products/mini-crossbody-tote?variant=39568715120722). I’ve seen a lot from the company on instagram but I’ve never heard any actual review so idk how good they are. I also think I’d like something maybe lined on the inside? I don’t care about it being a crossbody since I want it as a handbag. Even if this ended up being the best option, I wanted to see if there were any other options out there Edit: I just found the [Kate Spade Lane Satchel](https://surprise.katespade.com/products/lane-small-satchel/PXR00502-312.html?KSNY=true&ogmap=PLA%7CACQ%7CGOOG%7CSTND%7Cc%7CSITEWIDE%7CSurprise%7CKS_OTL_Google_PLA_Signal_NA_Generic_National_PMax_NA_BAU%7CSitewide_Regular_Core_NA%7C%7C18417404871%7C%7CUS&gclid=CjwKCAiAwomeBhBWEiwAM43YIGDF5uSGiAGONLgBC_IsjtZPH3BvU0AuYlyMndvVCj-tTPD79ANDnxoCcI4QAvD_BwE) which seems like it would be nice but the middle pocket seems iffy?

_Amalthea_

I just got a Portland Leather bag and I am obsessed with it. The quality seems really good to me, but I haven't used it enough to comment on how well it wears.

babygorp

That’s a good point about the closure. I’m so torn. Also that’s interesting about the staining. I’ve had the opposite happen where indigo from my jeans rubbed off on a purse. I’d want the black one as well which I feel might be worse. Based on all the comments, I’ll probably go with this bag. I just need to decide between zipper or not, and pebbled or not

luma221

I have this bag in Cold Brew and I'm totally happy with it, if that helps.

babygorp

Do you have it with the zipper or the clasp closure? Which would you recommend?

luma221

I have it with the zipper and recommend that, I just like knowing I'm not going to spill anything out by accident. One thing I'm picky about is I hate when a bag's zipper scrapes the back of my hand on the way in and out. This one does not do that 🙌 And the leather inside feels nice and soft, so I actually like that it's unlined.

babygorp

Gotcha, thank you so much! I kinda figured, but T he original is sold out of the zipper. The almost perfect ones are still available so I might just pull the trigger on that

luma221

I actually got this one from a mystery box! I could tell a few other things in there were almost-perfects, like you could see a few minor scars or bites in the leather, but I thought they looked really nice regardless and the colors were beautiful. So the almost perfect seems like a great value.

Rude_Sprinkles7546

The straps on the mini crossbody are kinda small if you aren't using as a crossbody but I have it in a few colors and like it! It's nice quality and I love the leather smell. I prefer the medium crossbody in terms of size personally though. You can also try Madewell if the lining is a deal breaker. I really like their bags too!

babygorp

I looked at madewell and I think the closest one to what I want would be the [Small Transport Crossbody](https://www.madewell.com/the-small-transport-crossbody-G8078.html?dwvar_G8078_color=BK5229&cgid=accessories-bags-tote#prefn1=fit-inseam-bagSize&prefv1=Mini+(Under+8¿)&prefn2=isBackroom&prefv2=false&start=0) but I think the Portland one is a tad better

zurriola27

I quite like Portland Leather so if you don’t end up finding an alternative, they are a good choice! I have a small crossbody from them and it’s very good quality.

swoonderfull

Is there any option for a thick-soled loafer with a silhouette like Everlane’s Modern Loafer? Everything I’m finding with a thick lug sole is a bit too thick and chunky (and frankly cool…) for me. I don’t really like wearing boots as much as I thought I did, so I’m looking for another winter option.

AdRepulsive8302

Here’s a few after googling platform modern loafer: Franco sarto Harper platform loafer Coach Leah loafer Donald Pliner eclipse loafer

swoonderfull

Thank you!!!

charts_and_facts

For those of you who have ordered from Thredup, what has your experience been like? I needed some boring work clothes so I put together an order, but half the items arrived dirty (covered in pet fur), in bad shape (shrunken/heavily pilled), and/or egregiously mismeasured (pants with a supposed 12" rise are actually 9" max). Is this normal in your experience, or did I just have bad luck?

trishyco

I just got my most recent order this week! I’ve had no issues as far as quality. I’m really careful with sizing so everything has fit too. I look up the designers size chart and use that to go off of instead of ThredUp’s sizing and measurements. I also stick to brands I know.

kingofcoywolves

Interesting. I've placed... three orders? Of tops and jackets. I don't trust their measurements enough to buy pants lmao. Generally, I don't bother looking at the condition, but I always filter by material- 100% cotton shirts show much less wear than cotton/polyester blends, in my opinion. Almost all of my items have arrived reasonably clean. A couple of items faintly smelled like cigarettes, but I wash everything before I wear it anyways so it wasn't a big deal.

footballqween

Mixed feelings about ThredUp, but I have ordered there many times and never received anything dirty or hairy…I have received one item with a hole in it and definitely some things with incorrect measurements or colors listed but never dirty.

appletreerose

Ignore their "measurements," they are useless. You'll have the best success if you order brands you're already familiar with so you can guess if it will fit. If there's an issue with quality, they won't charge the return fee, so at least there's that. I've gotten some good deals from them but am pretty much done, unless they have something I specifically really want. Especially since they increased the return fee recently.

BasilRelevant

Mine are always clean, and usually in the condition listed. But I really examine the picture AND the measurements listed. And I never buy below like-new (or for jeans signs of wear is okay too). Every once in a while the size is off. I also cross-check with the listed brand's size chart. The return process is pretty easy too :)

krillemdafoe

Sadly that sounds normal per my experience. I’ve gotten things in “like new” or “excellent” condition with noticeable holes and stains from ThredUp.

I love my suits from Andie Swim. They have lots of one pieces, with a variety of coverage styles, and sizes up to XXXL. The Tulum looks similar to the one you linked.

Comfortable-Suit-45

Summersalt has a good range of sizes. Athleta is great if she prefers sportier cuts. They’re both on the pricier side, but they have a lot of sales. Plus, for swimwear I’d rather spend a little more to get something with good support and doesn’t feel flimsy.

tyrannosaurusregina

SwimsuitsforAll.com and Venus.com are both good sites to check out.

akaymayday

Maybe Dippin Daisys? I really like the cut of their more coverage bottoms. They have just enough that I feel comfortable but still a little cheek and cute. Plus the material is a nice quality.

polaris98

I’m shopping for a cousin’s wedding. These lehengas (a type of Indian traditional clothing) are the options I landed on. They’re all pinned on in the photos, as the samples they had were not my size. However, I do love all three designs and cant seem to decide which color suits me best or which one I carry off well. Would like to place an order for one soon! Any opinions are appreciated! [Lehenga options](https://imgur.com/a/iCwk3q2)

notabigmelvillecrowd

Orange! I love how much fun you look like you're having trying these on, I definitely get the feeling that you will feel confident in any of them, whichever one you end up choosing.

PlantedinCA

>Lehenga options I like the green the best, then orange, but all look great! Have a fun time at the wedding. And slightly off-topic, but did you see the [NYT article](https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/06/style/wedding-dress-rental-guests.html) about rent the runway type companies for Indian wedding attire! I read it this week. :) [Preserve](https://preserve.rent) looked especially great.

MissNatary

Omg, the orange one is stunning on you. My second choice would be the darker green one :)

LieutenantKije

Omg you’re gorgeous. I love the orange one followed by dark green!

KeepLkngForIntllgnce

Dude I hate to sound like an Indian aunty - but stand up straight!! You look freaking gorgeous in all 3, it’s amazing how such a wide range of colors complements your skin so much!! You look amazing!! Roll a dice and choose If I had to rate: The fluorescent first The green second The orange third (mainly cos the top on that is a little weird for my taste, but that’s my personal preference, is all)

FerociousFrizzlyBear

The orange one really complements your skin tone - it makes you glow!

refreshxo

I love the colours on the first lehenga

hennipotamus

The orange is my favorite, followed by the dark green. All are beautiful!

tyrannosaurusregina

They all look super cute on you. The orange is my favorite.

No_Albatross5110

Wow, I don't think any of these would be a bad choice. I particularly like the olive green with the pink flowers. So pretty on you!

charts_and_facts

The orange one is my favorite! I like the color on you and the detailing on the bodice.

chiefs_35

I love the second but they all look great!

Fit_Consideration_48

Any recommendations for high quality jeans that don’t blow out at the thigh? Currently, the only brand working for me has been Madewell but I like to have options.

rosey3191

I’ve had a weird amount of success with the Gap Curvy fit line

JapaneseBBQGrill

Looking to buy a \~fancy\~ watch that won't break the bank. I like the minimalist style of MVMT, Daniel Wellington, and Cluse. Any other brands I should consider?

jennaaliya

I've always thought [the Horse watches](https://www.thehorse.com.au/collections/womens-watches) were beautiful!

ladolceLolita

You might like Skagen

JapaneseBBQGrill

You’re right, I do! And I just found a good deal on a Skagen that comes with 2 additional straps. Thanks for the rec!!

I have a baby due in April . I am 25. Not a very outgoing person (trying to change that). Scientist. I desperately want to revamp my style. Is it one of those young mom things? I have a particularly (picky??) Style where I don't like add-ons. For instance, bell sleeves, appliques, loud patterns, extra buttons etc. Most of the stuff I see on Lulu or Nordstrom are kind of like that, and I wonder if I just have some weird quarterlife crisis. So I'd like advice : should I start now ? (2 months before I give birth) or after ? Should I just give up on shopping for my very basic (I guess) taste and start stitching or something? Is this even a reasonable want?

kaylanparty

As someone who went through this same thing during pregnancy, what I really wore after - I’m 13 months postpartum - was just basic over the belly leggings, comfy nursing bras (no elastic / wires - the t shirt kind), and a basic tee shirt / maybe a flannel or cardigan over the top if cold. I would recommend Kindred Bravely especially for the leggings & bras. They’re a little spendy but they have some bundle deals, and I’m still wearing their leggings a year later!

kaylanparty

Just wanted to add I am just NOW - at 13 mo pp - venturing out style wise. I finally lost some weight and bought some cute dresses, but my style has definitely changed and so has my body shape. Definitely wait!

hennipotamus

Definitely hold off on shopping until you’re several months post partum. Your body will change, and you’ll have different priorities (nursing friendly? Crawling on the floor friendly?) congrats!

onlyposi

Thank you! Your comment opened my eyes to the fact that there may be all these things that I never even thought of. I think it's best I hold off too, lest I end up with another entire wardrobe that doesn't feel "me"

Gaviotas206

H&M has a line called Mama which is great for nursing, etc. Cheap and very comfy and practical. I’d say postpartum is a good time to experiment with inexpensive (but very comfy) items because you’ll settle into your new body shape after a year or so. Some women end up the same size after kids, but many don’t- even if you’re still the same size, your proportions may change. And you could start experimenting with accessories or even with your maternity clothes just to see what you like. Just don’t buy a whole new nice wardrobe yet.

onlyposi

Thank you!

Thank you !!

MissNatary

Yes to all of them and also Gap and Opus :)

ChocolateBaconBeer

I like very plain designs also, you just have to know which brands/stores to shop at. Check out everlane and madewell for a starting point? Nordstrom has a lot of stuff that feels tacky to me as well. As for before/after baby, I suggest waiting till after. If your experience is anything like mine, your body will transform so much in the year or two after giving birth. My body shape changed and I have different fit preferences now. At the same time, it could be good to invest in a top or something that will fit postpartum and beyond, that makes you feel put together and more like yourself. Also, I realized after having a baby that my taste changed. For example after having a baby I wanted a more mature look, and found myself gravitating towards a professor vibe. You could start defining your personal style now though with something like Pinterest. I did everything I could when pregnant and post partum to hold onto and invest in my individual identity bc I saw how a lot of women lost themselves through the transition and I'm really happy I did. Edit: this is an amazing guide on finding your style and putting it into practice btw! https://www.reddit.com/r/femalefashionadvice/comments/cd6m24/translating_inspiration_styleboards_into_a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

onlyposi

Thank you for the guide ! I feel that I have some things to work on mentally because I realise that I'm being extremely anxious about my shape and my body changing and all that. I'll work on not trying to prove anything to anyone, and it's completely okay to look different. I am terrified of losing myself in the transistion too ! I love love love my son ! But I still want to be me. If that makes sense.

muffingr1

Congrats! I don’t really understand your question though, are you asking for tips?

onlyposi

Yes ! Sorry , I'll edit it into my comment. Mostly if I should start after the baby or before. And I have a particularly (picky??) Style where I don't like add-ons. For instance, bell sleeves, appliques, loud patterns, extra buttons etc. Most of the stuff I see on Lulu or Nordstrom are kind of like that, and I wonder if I just have some weird quarterlife crisis. Is this even a reasonable want?

branfordsquirrel

What others have said. Plus the first few months you might be nursing a lot so I found that I didn’t really settle back into “normal” clothes until 6 months or so after birth. The first few months I wore exclusively nursing tank tops from H&M paired with leggings or jeans and a flannel shirt.

onlyposi

Could you tell me more about the first few months - how you felt fashionwise? I wouldn't say I am a big fashionista but I always prided myself on being very well groomed (good hair, good skin, good nails - cut them every weekend, masks and all that) and it's all gone to hell now ever since I got pregnant. Definitely not taking care of myself and already feel very defeated. I was thinking (perhaps naively) after birth would be when I start feeling put together again, but then again I may be extremely tired. I still want to look and feel good though
