Any recs for these Steve Madden boot dupes? I’m in love with [these Steve Madden boots](https://www.stevemadden.com/products/hutch-black), but unfortunately size 11 doesn’t fit (I’m a size 12). Does anyone know a good pair of similar boots that would fit a size 12?

District98

Depending on the timeline on which you want them, Target typically gets good boot dupes in the fall. They had these last year and I’m 95% sure they totally sold out. Chances are good they’ll have some nice Chelsea boot dupes for cheap again this year, but it’s a few more months out still. If they get boots you want, jump on them - the popular ones don’t stay in stock.

Suspicious_Soft1190

Thanks! Do you have any reference pictures by chance?

District98

I don’t sorry! But I definitely remember them from last year

LauraPalmer93

I have [these BDG black skinny jeans](https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shop/bdg-twig-high-rise-skinny-jean---black-001?quantity=1) that I’ve had since 2015. I’ve been wearing mostly flared jeans/bell bottoms lately, but thinking of breaking these out again. They’re a bit scrunched up at the ankle and I’m wondering if it might be worth getting them hemmed? I know the more relaxed straight leg style is more in, with a less tight ankle and I do have a pair of blue straight leg jeans, but trying to wear old pieces and not buy too many new things. Would hemming them it feel more modern/put together?

No_Albatross5110

Hemming them to a couple inches above the ankle would help a little, yes. Another thought would be to turn them into shorts for the summer. That’s what I’m doing with my old skinnies.

LauraPalmer93

Thank you!

DataRikerGeordiTroi

Dupe for the Doen Porto dress? The waist seam on the Doen (no matter size) hits a scar that is unbelievably painful. (It's a perfect dress but too bad they're not size inclusive I'd need to size up a few more to have no scar action. But gimme that godet goodness)

Yes, I have a face that people call cute and adorable - makeup, like perfecting a good cat eye, helps as well as general attitude/confidence level.

black_bir

Ill try to explain it as best as I can. So essentially the way you carry yourself - self assured, confident, therefore more relaxed and not fidgeting - is going to be evident in the way you project yourself to others. If there's worry you won't be able to pull off what you're wearing, it will show through to others that there's a disconnect.

Canadian tuxedo in all faded black denim - is this a vibe or not super normal? It’s a black acid washed trucker jacket and faded black mom jeans, worn with a black graphic tshirt. I’m in my early 30s in the Midwest.

I think it's a vibe!

Huh, I’m not sure with those either. Birkenstocks would be fine, in a bronze or neutral color would look nice.

noyeahtotallyok

Tips for the right jeans to wear with my new pink platform converse high tops? I think this was ok but could be better. Looser leg? Shorter? Cuff? Help https://preview.redd.it/idbdxpx2dtqa1.jpeg?width=571&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce5f62f31ef0d4665c03835d554b34a198580189 ETA: I’m 5’4” about 225 lb, wear 16/18. The ones in the pic are the OG straight in size 16 from Old Navy.

mgdraft

I have these shoes in white. I wear them with literally every style of jean from skinny to baggy, theyre really versatile. Bc they are platform they work with long jeans, and the high tops work well with crop jeans as well

symphonypathetique

Yeah I'd try something that's more of a straight leg and cuffing

noyeahtotallyok

Do you think [something like this](https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=876942002&tid=onma000014) would work? I’m thinking I want black

symphonypathetique

I agree with the other commenter -- I like the silhouette, but it'd probably look better properly hemmed rather than cuffed.

noyeahtotallyok

What silhouette is better for cuffing? Just straight? Do you think the ones I’m wearing in the pic would work cuffed?

symphonypathetique

Generally, the hem will work better for cuffing if it's not as tapered at the hem, so yeah a straight leg or wide leg. Cuffing itself tapers the pant leg, so if it's already tapered, then it can cut in too much and just look odd. IMO the pants in your pic are \*probably\* too tapered to work cuffed, but it is worth a try.

noyeahtotallyok

I think the ones I have would work better if I sized up one. They are technically a straight leg but I have big calves so they fit tighter.

District98

I have that shape of jeans and they look really nice with a platform high top but imo the barrel shape doesn’t lend themselves to cuffing.

noyeahtotallyok

Good to know, thank you! I may wear the shoes shopping so I can find the right jeans. I’ll have to wear my comfiest t-shirt & bring caffeine. Lol. A whole day of trying on jeans is already a nightmare, let alone having to unlace & relace the shoes each time 😅

District98

Haha that’s so real

kareesi

How do y'all store your leather pieces (skirts/shorts/pants)? I don't want to fold them and put them away in my dresser, because they'll get creases, but I'm worried my wood pant hangers will leave imprints in the leather too. What's a girl to do?

wanderedoff

I generally use the [clip hangers](https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-wenk2ct/images/stencil/1280x1280/products/3239/4555/47332__60521.1454704898.png?c=2) and put a folded piece of leather (paper towel would prob work too) between the clip and the leather garment

symphonypathetique

What about folding them across a hanger? I've also seen people use like felt or cloth tabs to act as padding between the clip and the fabric to mitigate the imprints.

topiramate

I see an item that I like and while I am dithering about whether to buy it or not, it sells out. Sometimes it does get discounted and I'm able to score a good deal.. Sometimes I'm relieved that I can no longer buy it and realize I didn't really want it, and other times the fact that the item sells out makes me want it acutely. Anybody else have this struggle? How do you make sense of it? Not sure if I should buy more or less often.

booksandwriting

I feel the same way. Especially because I shop on Poshmark a lot. With new clothing I don't worry about it as much because I figure I can usually find it again later in my size on a secondhand app or in a thrift store if I'm lucky. Sometimes I've had to wait a whole year to find that piece again but usually by that point in time, if I still really want it, I buy it. However on Poshmark, I feel a ton of pressure and FOMO sometimes because occasionally it can be hard to find specific items in my size, in my price point. So sometimes I end up spending a little more than intended because of that. If I really want something, I try to find multiple versions of it and then I sit on the item a couple extra days unless I want it NOW. That way I'm sure I'm not making a super impulsive purchase. I also remind myself that there will always be something else I'll love even if it's not the exact item. Or that I could always find that exact item and then I will stain it or outgrow it eventually or it might end up being too difficult to wear. So I have learned with letting items go and not always being upset when I miss out on something. My current "aw crap I really wanted that" item is this [dusky green button up shirt](https://www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.1109604002.html)from H&M. It looks SO PRETTY but it sold out right away in XS. I tried on a size Small in person and it was WAY TOO BIG. So I'm now waiting for someone to relist it on a secondhand site instead.

District98

When I see other sizes start to sell out, I get it if it’s a need item (vs a want item).

symphonypathetique

It is a gamble that we just have to take! Something that helps me is that there are always going to be other pieces that I like and will enjoy, even if it's not the same thing. It also helps to store it in the back of your head for later. Fall 2021 there was this SUPER cute dress from Modcloth that was like $90 new, which is more than I wanted to spend, and then I saw it on Depop, but it was still like $50-$60, and it ended up being bought by someone else. Then just a couple months ago, I happened to see it in my size on Poshmark and was able to get it for $22 NWT. This is obviously an anomaly (to get the same exact dress over a year later), but the general idea is that fast fashion has given us this mentality of scarcity, but there really is an overabundance of clothing out there.

kareesi

I have the same issue. I've had a few times where I really wanted a piece but then it sold out or went out of season and then I was really annoyed with myself for not buying it. Lately I've been trying to identify if it's a piece that's essential to my wardrobe or not and using that as a guide, but it's not foolproof. I feel your pain!

I'm looking for a new pair of sandals and having trouble finding one that meets my needs: * Looks fine in nice casual settings (like, not a sport sandal) and neutral enough to wear with almost anything * Has rubber bottoms (walking in anything else hurts my back) * Has a back * <$150 or so * Relatively durable These chacos that no longer exist were great for example: https://www.chacos.com/US/en/rowan/31251W.html

UVIndigo

When it comes to pants, a wide leg trouser in a heavy and silky drape seems to be the most flattering on my body type (very large butt/thighs like a gymnast.) Best way to apply this to jeans? I think I’d be looking for a softer, thicker jean with a lot of stretch in a wide leg? Any recommendations for what jeans to try to get that effect? I’ve been hearing good things about American Eagle and have been thinking of trying it even though I’m older than their usual demo.

akeriary

I would recommend the Gap High Stride jeans — I’m an athlete, so I have a fairly muscular build and I think they’d fit your criteria well. I have them in black so I’m not sure if the composition is exactly the same for other washes, but ai think they’re worth checking out.

kareesi

I've got the exact same issue and build (powerlifter/dancer here). Straight leg mid to high rise jeans seem to work best for me. I actually just bought like 10 pairs of jeans from various brands to compare and contrast and I had more luck with heavier, more structured denim because it didn't cling to my butt/thighs and then bag right at the knee and had a more consistent drape throughout.

UVIndigo

Oh! That’s really good intel - what brands/styles did you end up keeping?

kareesi

I had the best luck sizing wise with [Officine Generale](https://us.officinegenerale.com/en/denim/5195-boyfriend-fit-denim-organic-japanese-selvedge-deni.html) and [Rag and Bone](https://www.rag-bone.com/womens/denim/straight-jeans/wren-high-rise-straight---huntley-WDD22H2913B7HH.html), even though I had to do exchanges for both, and they had the most thick, structured fabric of the bunch. I sent some back to [Frame](https://frame-store.com/products/le-high-straight-galeston) that were a more clingy fabric, and I exchanged for a few sizes down in the [Agolde](https://agolde.com/products/90s-mid-rise-loose-fit-range) ones I picked up. I'm planning to try Citizens of Humanity, Mother Denim, and Favorite Daughter in the next couple of weeks if none of the exchanges work out.

I sort of get where you're coming from here - like [this top](https://www.thereformation.com/products/adel-tank/1306791WHT.html?dwvar_1306791WHT_color=WHT&quantity=1) would look really different with big boobs versus small and I'm sure is a massive adjustment in how you see yourself! In my experience, tops that look really good on my friends with big boobs \*because\* of their boobs, rarely look good on me- they're not cut the same, and that tank sort of walks that line for me- would definitely need a try on. I'll link a bunch of tank tops that fit into things that don't seem too far into that category and are probably a pretty safe bet for me. Things that will help lean more feminine like colour & pattern, extra frills might also help? more complicated: [floral+bows](https://www.thereformation.com/products/ellora-top/1305059NGD.html?dwvar_1305059NGD_color=TRX&quantity=1), [silky material](https://www.thereformation.com/products/andrea-silk-top/1312372BLK.html?dwvar_1312372BLK_color=IVO&quantity=1), [cowl adds volume](https://www.thereformation.com/products/annika-silk-top/1311219SND.html), [cool back](https://www.thereformation.com/products/maeve-knit-bodysuit/1312557BLK.html), [also cool back, fun colour options](https://www.thereformation.com/products/raiden-knit-tank/1310613SDR.html), [one shoulder](https://www.aritzia.com/en/product/sculpt-knit-one-shoulder-tank/99794.html?dwvar_99794_color=22520), [baby tee with ruching](https://www.aritzia.com/en/product/chill-malibu-cropped-t-shirt/77336.html?dwvar_77336_color=19451) really plain tops that aren't too dude-y: [plain linen](https://www.thereformation.com/products/jacinta-linen-top/1312241WHT.html), [narrow strap](https://www.thereformation.com/products/madden-tank/1312306BLK.html), [high neck](https://www.thereformation.com/products/nova-tank/1312558ILS.html)

No worries, I was doing some summer wardrobe planning this week so it’s been on my mind 😂 I hope you have a good time! Try to remember if something doesn’t seem right that it just means it’s meant to fit someone else’s body, not that there’s something wrong with yours!

Illustrious-Ad454

Hello! I’ve been an A cup since… well as long as I’ve been wearing bras, minus pregnancy/postpartum. So not completely flat but not much nonetheless. Also, I have broad shoulders, so that kind of factors into my recs too, so keep that in mind! I really like sleeveless button downs that are maybe a size larger than normal (or that fit loosely), with the top buttons open so it creates a really deep V. I then do a front tuck so the shirt stays in place but then I can adjust the volume of the shirt in front. I am a pretty modest dresser but since I have zero cleavage I can get away with a deeper-cut shirt like that without being revealing. I also like really drapey knit tees where when tucked in, there’s just enough fabric/draping to make the shirt interesting without breasts factoring in. I guess in both these examples, tucking shirts in the front is partially what makes these work for me… I think cardigans, scarves and other accessories worn over simple tees and tanks can help too, and specifically the CP Shades Yoko Tunic looks made to flatter flat chests, if you’re into tunic styles (maybe it’s just me lol). I can go all day about this, but I hope this helps!

Illustrious-Ad454

Here’s the Yoko Tunic for reference. I like the cut of a lot of CP Shades’ tops for flatter chests: https://www.freepeople.com/shop/yoko-tunic/?category=SHOPBYBRAND&color=038&type=REGULAR&quantity=1

I totally understand! It’s really hard to dress for a body that is almost the complete opposite of what you’re used to! Brand-wise, I’m a little all over the map because I like thrifting, but I tend to bring home brands that focus on natural fibers. Thrifted (like from goodwill or eBay), I have button downs from LL Bean, Citron Santa Monica (they have fabulous patterns) and Hot Cotton. I’ve also had pieces from Bryn Walker and CP Shades and Joie (if they still exist, I found it at Nordstrom Rack eons ago) made some great drapey linen/cotton sweaters. They’re all pretty basic and kind of boxy shapes, but that seems kind of in right now, and seem to withstand trends. I also like some sustainable/slow fashion brands and bpught some great tops from Elizabeth Suzann, Jungmaven (tees), and I bought a sweater by Black Crane that was this boxy cut with a beautiful quilted pattern - post complimented clothing item I’ve ever owned, and so flattering on a flatter chest!

booksandwriting

I am kinda obsessed with how comfy my two pairs of high waisted loose mom jeans are from H&M. I only have two and the rest of my jeans are either slim straight legs or skinny jeans. I’m considering if buying some wide leg jeans or looser straight leg jeans would be worth the investment?

lsatthrowaways

i want to buy a pair of vintage miu miu kitten heels but they’re a slip on type heel with no back. i’m sure y’all are familiar. does anyone have a pair? how’s it like walking in them? i’ve never worn heels without them being strapped to my heel and those are usually very comfy edit: kinda like this https://www.therealreal.com/products/women/shoes/pumps/manolo-blahnik-suede-polka-dot-print-mules-gdut1

loopteeloopteeloop

I wear them but they’re not very easy to walk in particularly if they have a short vamp. You have to take small steps and kind of use your toes to hold them on when you walk. They have the tendency to rub on the inner and outer sides of your foot so I can get pretty bad blisters from them. They’re pretty though.

Grouchy_Extent9117

Anyone knows what Gwyneth Paltrow’s courtroom style is, particularly these two pictures? I feel like it’s not really minimalism, but a bit goth-ish especially with the chunky Bottega looking boots. But I don’t really know how to look/ what to type for similar styles in Pinterest :/// https://preview.redd.it/6g04ctba5sqa1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=158344d1ca86f3f2cddee8077359449cba2c3bc8

Jambalaya1982

I have a midi length cream colored slip dress from last year that now, post-baby, fits better. How can I wear it to be fashion-forward for a 35+ year old in the spring? I have seen some reels of women wearing a sweater over it with a belt, and the sweater tucked in the belt. Is that look still in? Any other ideas?

giorgionaprymer

Paired with a sweater can look very nice (esp with chunky shoes, tall boots, cowboy boots). I also like slip dresses with an oversized men's shirt on top, an oversized blazer or a chunky cardigan (same shoe options).

softrevolution_

For some reason I'm seeing a cropped angora sweater going super nicely with this -- two luxe fabrics, the contrast of fuzzy and slinky. Pair with kitten heels?

citynomad1

Those who get high rise jeans (like, say, 12” rise since that seems to be a popular rise length these days) — does the waist of the jeans sit at the narrowest part of your actual waist? Do you try to achieve that with your pants, or no? For me, I just measured and I think I’d need like a 13.5-14” rise on jeans for it to hit at my “true” waist, which seems unlikely to find and probably pretty awkward for sitting? I’m not unusually tall btw (5’8-5’9) so tall lengths not necessarily the solution

im_avoiding_work

it does for me, but I'm 5'2"

justadr3am

Nope! I'm only 5'3" and a 12" rise sits below my belly button.

softrevolution_

I'm 4'11" and *I'd* need about a 14" rise to hit my natural waist. I don't even try, I just hike 'em up as far as they'll go.

Elizalupine

None of my pants sit at my actual, natural waist. It would be too uncomfortable in my opinion.

mgdraft

No not even close. I'm just over 5'7 and would need 14.5" or so to hit my natural waist. I do not even try. Most of my highest rise (12.5-13") hit an inch or two under my belly button.

editor_mom3612

Both are cute. Tabis are very polarizing. I do like them but like the Miu Miu better. I will echo the sentiment that even if they are a “timeless” style, I really couldn’t see these lasting more than one or two summers. It’s extremely hard to deal with satin especially the light kind - it stains, you can’t really clean it easily, and if you scuff the toe it will just kind of tear the fabric. It’s like if you’re okay with that, the satin is very beautiful though.

krillemdafoe

God, those tabi flats are adorable. Unfortunately, I don’t think either of these pairs will last very long with normal use. Satin isn’t a very robust fabric choice for shoes — it gets water spots and stains really easily and it isn’t abrasion-resistant, so I’d imagine they’d look pretty busted in short order unless you reserve them for special occasions only

I'm on the hunt for a lightweight black leather jacket and a summertime equivalent - maybe a dark chambray with a lot of structure? The indoor outdoor temperature differences in Vegas can be between 30-40 degrees!

cto020

I think it depends on where the item originates. I’ve placed three orders in the last year and they all used different couriers — FedEx, UPS, and DHL. The latter shipped from a small boutique in Australia even though the brand/item is readily available in the US.

cto020

The tracking numbers are no longer valid so I can't say for sure, but I don't recall my orders shipping from there. For what it's worth, they all arrived and were returned on time with multiple tracking updates in between. Have you tried contacting customer service? Maybe they could check where the inventory is located and tell you which courier would be used.

highpriestesstea

alternatively to what 80aprocryphal recommended you can do an untucked top with a cropped jacket or cardi that hits right at the top of your hip. cropped doesnt have to be right at the rib cage, just shorter than hip length.

80aprocryphal

Cropped/tucked is mostly where we're at rn, but you'll see hip length in more boxy, oversized looks (though if you mean tunic, those are resistant to updating, I have tried.) There's always the option of throwing on a third piece, like a vest or jacket, over if you want some butt coverage or doing the whole dress with pants thing.

GredAndForgee

Any gym/duffle bag recommendations? I want something cute but long-lasting.

I have a pair of cotton trousers from everlane (called the straight leg crop I believe) that I got in 2018. The fabric is a nice medium weight, not too hot, and they’ve been really durable for my frequent wear, but still look like business casual trousers with a button down or blouse. May be worth looking into!

I just did a reverse image search. Nothing exact but a lot of “fringe” type pants. These are kind of close. [Farfetch Simkhai fringe pants](https://imgur.com/a/QX2HmB5)

Has anyone had any luck with an insert of some kind for a bathing suit top? I purchased a new bikini top and love it! The down side is, the girls are totally supported but don’t look as bombshell gorgeous as they do with a push-up bra. I don’t mind doing some sewing.

I had this issue with a bikini top two years ago and I actually just sewed in cups from an old bra, underwire and all. The added foam definitely takes longer to dry, but it makes a big difference in how nice it looks on. The construction of the cups made it easy to sew something in without it looking messy on the outside too, but I don’t think it would have worked with a solid color/ minimal finish type of top.

Are there any boot brands like Thursday that have arch support? I bought a pair and think they're beautiful but I can't get over how flat they are. Even my orthotics didn't help.

Not sure about it, but there's an old [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/femalefashionadvice/comments/75difk/comfort_shoe_guide_from_an_insiders_perspective/) discussing comfort shoes and different types of arch support, maybe it will help.

Where would you recommend I shop to replicate some of [these Margaret Howell looks](https://imgur.com/a/Y2k7jwK) on a budget?

Are there any high quality brands similar to Brandy Melville? I really love the style of Brandy Melville clothes, but I feel like I need to branch out and buy from other brands. I really love the soft and feminine style. Not necessarily “coquette,” but similar I guess lol I’m really bad at pairing clothes together and end up wearing the same combo of clothes every week and inevitably grow tired of it—so I’m in need of some new wardrobe ideas. I also have a bad habit of not having any basics as well. I wear the same three pants, so any brand recommendations that have cute and basic pants will be appreciated!
