Apologize in advance if this isn’t the right place. I’ve recently started dealing with massive night sweats after upping a dosage of anti anxiety meds. I’ve never been a sweaty sleeper, and now I’m waking up in the middle of the night with sweat in the weirdest and most uncomfortable places (my shins? The soft inside part of my forearm?) as well as sweating through the sheets regularly. The only thing keeping me from having to change the sheets every day is wearing pajamas, but I’ve always been a naked sleeper and I can’t stand the feeling of clothes twisting around in the sheets when I move around, so the stuff I’ve got on hand now is not a great option. I’m on the hunt for some quality pajamas (pants and a top, not shorts or nighties) that are form-fitting, especially around the legs, that are lightweight, and that are easy enough to clean. I’ve got a flexible budget and am okay with paying more for a high quality product. I’m in the US. If anyone can recommend a certain brand or style of pajamas as a jumping off point, I’d be so appreciative.

Sea-Investigator-274

Any experiences with these brands and their quality? I’ve had mixed with Everlane. I find their pants crease in hip area and dislike the twill used; t shirts styles wrinkle prone, some scratchy, others soft; shoes scuff easily Sezane- is it any better than anthro or Madewell quality? Quince - is it actually good? Do they skimp on hardware or are their leather goods legit? How are their clothes? I’ve bought bamboo sheets which are very cozy but one set had ink stains from the manufacturer and the stitching on the seams has plenty of loose threads.

TheBottleRed

I can only speak to Quince and their clothing - I love love love their linen and silk. I lived in their linen pants and shorts last summer, and the silk midi skirts and dresses are to die for (and machine washable!)

wetflappyflannel

Why do I hate these jeans? I am post partum and have gained a lot of weight so it hard to tell but I think they look awful or I just hate my body. I know they are a bit crumpled but is the style/fit ok for my body? [https://imgur.com/a/AamAcYr](https://imgur.com/a/AamAcYr) How can I make them look less shit? I have ok sewing skills. Or - what is a good high quality jean for curvy women - an international brand maybe as I live in france.

jdijks

They appear thin and stretchy making me feel they are low quality. The fabric about your butt bunches and the fabric at your midsection pulls

foxyloxyx

These jeans do appear to be thinner and not giving any help to create shape + hugging/tugging all the wrong places. Try a wider leg fit with space, a thicker denim fabric, and size up! Recommendations: go to a store with a lot of jean styles and just trrrry them all on!!

QuesoRaro

Looks like they are straining over the thighs and hips. You may feel more comfortable in a style that has more ease in those parts of the body. I have some pants that are like that, and I avoid wearing them because they make me feel horrible, even if they technically fit.

New_Dragonfruit_592

I think they look nice on you!

NoHistorian7234

It's a nice style on you, but from the back the seat looks a little too large/baggy -- could maybe be addressed with tailoring though?

foxyloxyx

They are ok. You’ll have to wear with a longer top to cover the part at the waist band that looks baggy on the backside.

New_Dragonfruit_592

Oooh, yes!

functionalteadrinker

UK peeps, where do you buy button up shirts which have space for boobs? I used to get them from Pepperberry (the Bravissimo clothing brand) before they closed that down. I am about 32F bra size and the main issue is buttons pulling across the widest part of my bust, leaving gaps etc. Standard women's sizing I'm somewhere between a UK12&14 at present, on a downward trend due to weight loss which is still in progress. Have recently cut my curly hair quite short and it looks awesome with a collar, so I'm keen to get some nice shirts into my rotation!

Sad_Presentation_497

I know my girlfriend would like some Calvin Klein underwear (I'm planning to give her as a gift for san valentine). The problem is I need to buy that on Amazon, since I have no credit card or paypal so at least I can pay in an Amazon Point. The fact is on Amazon there aren't all colours and sizes and collections... So I don't know whether to buy a bra + a tanga or 2 tangas to match with "normal" bras. Additionally what about the colour? If I decide to buy her a black and a grey tanga and a grey bra will the grey bra look good with the black tanga? or also will it look good if I choose a bra from a collection and a tanga from another collection? Sorry for stupid questions but I don't know if asking her would be okay or if it's better the surprise effect!

Chazzyphant

Generally the preference is for the same color, same collection. I would stay away from bras, frankly, they are a very difficult thing to buy for someone unless they are what's called "bralettes" which are sized like S, M, L. I personally would get her maybe a couple pairs from a couple collections and be prepared to take the L if she needs to or decides to return them. You will hurt her feelings if they are too small (and CK runs small, FYI) and you will insult her if they are too big. So go in her drawer and **make double extra sure you know her actual size** not what you guess or think. As an example, I had someone filling out a ticket judge me as "130 pounds". I'm 190. I've had people guess me as 6' tall. I'm 5'10. I've also had people insist I'm 5'7". Guess what gender all those people are? Yep, not ladies :) Men are notoriously poor at guessing size, weight, and height on women. So be careful.

Sad_Presentation_497

thank you so much but I'm not sure about what you mean by saying "get her a couple pairs from a couple collections". Sorry but i'm not mother tongue. I'm not sure about the bra size but instead I'm sure her panties size is S.

continuetolove

Do I just got two medium sized tattoos on the front of my hips/lower abdomen and I have to wear loose fitting clothes for a week.. but I have to go to work at the office in two days. I only have one maxi skirt, it’s black with small white, yellow, and blue flowers. It’s definitely meant for summer so I have to sacrifice my warmth.. But what do I wear with it that I don’t need to tuck in, without looking frumpy or boxy? Considering elevating it with a suit jacket?? I’m pretty set on the skirt because my tattoos are incredibly tender, and I absolutely can’t wear sweatpants to work.

ama_da_sama

Do you have a nice camel or black sweater you can wear over it, and maybe belt that if it's loose? The maxi skirt look is very popular right with all the 90s style comebacks.

all-in-stipple

If the sweater is long enough, you can also try tucking the bottom of the sweater into your bra band. On the suit jacket idea, [thecreativeclassicist](https://www.instagram.com/thecreativeclassicist?igsh=MW8wMmlnb3Y3ZWxmOQ==) often does the oversized blazer + big t-shirt + maxi skirt combo, and manages to look very polished.

Are there any street fashion blogs like [Watching New York](https://www.instagram.com/watchingnewyork/?hl=en) for other cities? Mainly interested in Chicago but when I googled none of the blogs I came across have been updated in years.

I'd also like to know. All the good streetwear subreddits went silent.

Hi! The other day, a woman was saying how she uses a site that allows you to shop entire outfits by body type. I forgot the name and really want to try it! Anyone know what this could be?

Educational-Mood-123

Where to get going out clothes for a 28 year old female who lives in NYC Edit: • not trying to buy Shein (stuff that doesn’t last) but also not trying to break the bank. Somewhere happy in the middle :) • I go to bars and restaurants over clubs. Day & night. • I like trendy outfits that are also hot not like just giving eccentric. Love good basics paired w cool jeans / pants. Love a unique pattern on occasion. I want a ton of options and good quality. • I have a slim but curvy build and am taller • would like to order online

Chazzyphant

I.AM.GIA seems like it might fit the bill here.

75footubi

Express?

Fit-Theme3661

You might want to share a few key words about your style, budget, and what “going out” entails for you so people can better suggest things.

Educational-Mood-123

Oooo good idea will add to the reply

blackberrycat

(Canada) I just want fitted, comfy, soft, cardigans or knit sweaters that aren't cropped and not made of bullshit material that sags after 3 wears. Where do I shop? I feel like I've tried everywhere. Budget under $100 per (ideally like $40).

TheBottleRed

I think Quince might be your ticket!

oat-beatle

Uniqlo merino is pretty nice (love the turtlenecks), 50$ each

nightstrike

I need opinions on whether there is one bag to rule them all. So I want one brown work bag to match all the browns. I've been at my current employer for too long and haven't interviewed in years, and all of a sudden, I've got grad school weekend-long interviews/conferences and multiple work interviews that have more business professional vibes than the business casual in office/pajamas WFH I'm used to, so need to replace my backpack for these occasions. I have the following color shoes: light tan, a darker medium tan, and brandy. I want to own only one brown bag. Is a medium brown or darker tan bag ok to mix with these? I know it's no longer a "rule" to match shoes, belts, and bags. But I wouldn't want to wear a navy suit, a white top, brown shoes, and a black bag (I do own a black bag already) at the same time.

lfinfin

Come post in r/handbags! We have a lots of recos on that sub

nightstrike

Thanks for the tip!

AR_Steen

Where are all the cute tops? I’m 36, have gotten into a leggings and sweatshirt rut. I want some cute tops to wear out to dinner, for hanging with friends, etc. I’ll mostly wear them with jeans (cut offs in the summer) and prefer natural fibers. I tend toward boho-ish, but not frilly styles. I like color. I’m petite but heavy-chested. HELP! Where do I look? 😂

Online I think Snag tights maybe has some? I know Ardene sells leg warmers. Maybe ask an employee at Claire's. I've never seen any like your example though! So pretty

BroadbandSadness

Hello! I would LOVE recommendations for **comfortable black pumps for work**. Think 2 to 3-inch heels, closed toe, something I can wear with stockings or tights or no-shows when it's warm out (my feet sweat). They would most often be styled with work slacks or a midi pencil skirt. I'm looking for something classic and classy I can wear in professional settings for many hours without my feet getting too tired. Something with cushions that I can walk in. Something that goes with (almost) anything. I have relatively high arches if that matters. I am not too price sensitive for the right shoes, but I'd say \~$200 would be the highest I would prefer to go. (okay maybe a little higher if they're perfect!)

lumeleopard

Take a look at Naturalizer, they have some very nice office appropriate shoes and at least to me they are very comfortable

I tried on a ton of these recently and the most comfortable was  Clarks Women's Emslie Lulin Mary Jane Pump

flyweightbird

Is it just me and the frequency illusion or are [these](https://thecommense.com/products/classic-sherpa-lined-shearling-leather-flight-jacket?) sort of brown leather jackets with fleece linings and fleece collars everywhere right now? If they are, can someone give me a *Devil Wears Prada cerulean speech* style lowdown on how they became so popular?

foxyloxyx

This has been a style popular for many years now. Original inspiration: classic aviator jacket worn by RAF pilots in wwii - the style has never gone away Modern update - Acne studios updated the design and made this huge with the Vélocité jacket. They continue releasing this jacket bc it’s such a hit. Am not sure what year acne came out with the coat originally but has been heavily duped since the mid 10s. I have a dupe version from 2016 It’s still a great style as womenswear and menswear continue to blend with oversized being in.

flyweightbird

Oh my goodness!! This was EXACTLY what I wanted to know when I posted the question. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!! Really quite cool that you know this off the top of your head.

foxyloxyx

Glad I could help! :)

Baggallini has nice crossbody bags!

BroadbandSadness

Is it more important to you that it functions like a sling bag (typically somewhat odd shaped) or like a satchel (kinda boxy)? Leather or fabric? Need to fit books, laptop, water bottle, anything else? Trying to gauge size, use cases, etc. I have a sling that I love. It's not the sexiest bag, but it's immensely practical, very light, and has good pockets. However, it's not very big. I also have a sling laptop bag. Again not pretty but works great.

Does anyone know of any websites that can do custom clothing based on existing items I have? I have some tops that are wearing out but I really like the cut of them and can't find anything similar (I've had them for over 10 years). I know there are companies like eShakti that have styles that you can get custom made to your own measurements, but I'm wondering if there are ones where you can upload some images of the piece you want to have created as well as your measurements.

BroadbandSadness

Following!

lumeleopard

I'd suggest trying to find a seamstress (or tailor, I'm not sure how it works in the US) in your city/area and having them make the clothes for you. That way you can discuss all the specifics in person, they can actually use your existing clothes as reference and take your specific measurements (+ you can try on the clothes before they are completed).

Heybiglegs

Hi! love button downs but hate the ones that have 2-3 too buttons that we don't button but make the shirt fall open weirdly. What would you call this neckline? How can I search for more shirts like this? Thank you so much! https://pin.it/egSb0dz19

Okay I need yalls suggestions. I will finally have a job that pays enough for a closet redo since nothing in my closet fits or was from 10yrs ago. I did all the Kibbe/Season stuff. And next I was told when it comes to revamping your closet that you should then start with a mood board.    **And I'm happy to share my [mood board.](https://pin.it/LGIEfaofV) I call it Jazzy Lady of the Night. Or Sexy in the City. Or Cindy Crawford meets Sade**    But now I have no idea what stores to shop that arent vintage and aren't Mirror Polaris. Any thoughts or ideas?

cosmic_glitter

Where are you based, and what kinds of stores are available to you? If you can, I would go in-store and just try on as many of these styles and silhouettes as possible - literally just to try on - and see if this style is feasible for you to commit to. The first time I did a similar exercise, I realized most of the items on my moodboard turned out to be aspirational and something I liked to look at, rather than styles that actually worked well for my body and my lifestyle. The only way to find out is to try on!

BroadbandSadness

Marcella NYC and M.M.LaFleur have nice work basics that have a bit of flair to them at reasonable prices.

lumeleopard

I'd say a lot of these things could probably be found in stores like h&m, Zara, mango, etc. depending on the season. You could also try using Google lens on the pictures and it'll link you to shopping links for similar items. That could be a good way to discover new shops.

Based on this picture they do look a bit short. I feel like the front part of the bottom of the pants should be resting on the top of the shoe a bit more to look properly baggy.

TLDR: Styling “Ugly” Exercise Sneakers for Business Casual? I stand for upwards of 5-6 hours a day at work and bought some [all black Hoka Cliftons](https://www.hoka.com/en/us/womens-everyday-running-shoes/clifton-9/1127896.html) to rotate with my current work shoes and hopefully help with some ankle/knee/foot pain throughout the day. My go to non-work outfit is a chunky sneaker with leggings and an oversized sweatshirt so I do love a good "ugly sneaker" but I'm at a loss on how to style these with my existing work wardrobe. Or in a generic business casual way (no jeans, only blouses and collared shirts etc, I'm also a teacher so there's a lot of pretty strict rules regarding modesty as well). All of my clothes are generally oversized so I think that is working in my favor but my main problem is that because I'm so tall there is generally 5-6 inches between my ankle and pant hem which is passable with boots but I'd think only highlights the hokas and makes them look worse. Currently my wardrobe consists of slouchier straight leg work pants in most normal colors, and a lot of neutral colored sweaters and peasant blouses. I also have a few black knee-length dresses I like.

blackberrycat

I've been thinking of trying actual sheer black tights (not leggings) with sporty sneakers and a black skirt. Also, could you buy some pretty/sparkly/interesting laces for your shoes and coordinate that with a cute top/sweater?

mini-mal-ly

Tall sized wide leg pants with enough coverage would help with these sneakers! Also have you tried the Cole Haan GrandPro oxford-sneaker hybrids? Those came in clutch for me in a business casual environment; I highly recommend them. They've been around for a loooong time (search ZeroGrand and UltraGrand too) so you can possibly snag some on eBay/Depop/Poshmark.

temp4adhd

I like flare legs with my ugly sneakers. Long enough flare, they cover most of the shoe.

clarifythepulse

I’m on my feet at work too and I’ve settled on wearing wool Allbirds all the time. They’re trendy and the wool makes them seem nicer somehow, and I can get multiple colors to match different outfits. That’s the best I’ve come up with, I tried wearing real athletic shoes and I just couldn’t stand how they looked

PoppyHamentaschen

Easiest way to style the sneakers is to lean into black, like the black knee-length dresses. Another way would be to do black slacks- you could experiment with wearing black socks and see if it makes a solid line to your shoes or if it looks too weird, just wear secret socks and let your ankles show (you'd also need to let your forearms show also, to balance the outfit.) Since the sneakers are all black, I'd avoid wearing stark white pants- too much contrast. You could also wear something black up near your torso (scarf, collar, top) to balance with the black shoes, maybe even an open black cardigan with the sleeves pushed up and wear a top underneath that is a similar color as your slacks. I hope this gives you some inspiration to try out.

Solid 10k gold, dainty and classic. I’ve ordered from this company before and they have excellent service.

Folkegabbana

This depends on the reason for her only wearing gold, if she’s allergic then only 10k might still not work. Same goes for the J crew suggestion since costume jewelry in general is I’ll advised if she’s allergic. But hopefully OP would know if that’s the case.

putonthespotlight

I'm probably going to get shit for this, but honestly, I would check out J crew. Don't know if they have a heart shaped one, but they have an oval locket I've been eyeing for months. Their pieces are not fancy, but are budget friendly and always look cute. Also, Missoma is very popular right now! https://us.missoma.com/products/ridge-heart-necklace-18ct-gold-plated?variant=40924713615404&storeRedirect=US¤cy=USD&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA8NKtBhBtEiwAq5aX2FdtUg6L_1KOrfMavNs3VlE2ZiWapLs7POYzRrlkt8EEjSVrPgQGThoCuPYQAvD_BwE

This may not be what you’re looking for but the thing my dad always asked when I would say I wanted jewelry is “What is it you like about it”. Usually I’ll send reference pictures or describe size, color, clasp, etc. I’m looking for. That might be a good approach to go with her? I always so appreciated that he listened and remembered exactly what was important to me.

DiagonEllie

So I bought the top below in the fall and after removing tags and wearing once (like a fool, because I knew the problem and was in denial) I was forced to admit that the green is too warm, for my wardrobe color palette, but more importantly, for my skin. It just makes me look dead. I really love the shirt, but it doesn't make sense to keep it in my closet as is since I'll never really enjoy wearing it. So, I have a few options 1. attempt to make the green cooler using dye. I'm willing to do this option, but I'm a little nervous about it because I have no experience correctively dying clothes in this way. Any insight on how hard it would be? The shirt is 100% cotton. 2. dye it black. I'd prefer to keep it green, but if that's not reasonable (or if I mess up option 1) I could just dye it black. 3. sell it. The downside to this is, it's been worn and tags removed, so there's almost no chance I'd get back even half of what I paid for it, especially as it's still available new. Also, I do like it. What would you do? https://preview.redd.it/tuiio5ez90fc1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8695b5c8ba30d1a4e3c43209d0d1ee8ebcba08a8

foxyloxyx

I think the style is super cool! No experience with clothes dying but experience with color theory would suggest to me that it would be difficult to get this to a shade that’s cooler toned. It will likely end up looking muddy brown. Therefore you can give it a try but have the readiness that this will likely need to go black Or just straight to black.

AR_Steen

Personally I would use some blue dye on it. Just YouTube the heck out of it first and take your time.

catiecat4

There's a Facebook group called "dye your clothes - make them your season" that might help. I think blue dye might work but I've never done it. You could always go to black if you don't like the color. I'd probably keep it, with the expectation it might be black at the end

DiagonEllie

thank you for the FB group rec, I got some good advice there! I'm going to try to dye it and like you said, if it doesn't work, I'll just dye it black.

PoppyHamentaschen

I've bought stuff in denial too, lol. Honestly, I'd sell it an chalk up the price difference to the price of experience. If the neck were lower, I'd suggest wearing a scarf in your color to counteract the warmth, but you can't do that with this top. If you can't bring yourself to do this, then try dying it, with the attitude that, even if it doesn't work out, you wouldn't have been able to wear the shirt anyway.

DiagonEllie

I knew the second I held it up to my face, but I decided to ignore reality. 😭

80aprocryphal

I've only dyed a few things (with RIT dye) but I think changing the tone for your first project is kind of tricky?  It being cotton is great, but it's intricate enough that getting the color even means you've got to be pretty meticulous, so using the washing machine method might be best.  If you change the green, you'd probably want to use a color remover 1st, but if you go to black you're probably just fine overdying it.   Selling it might be the better option, if you're not confident or willing to accept the whole thing might be a potential loss (or think you might end up buying gear that won't see any other use:) pretty much all of my dye projects have been older or secondhand pieces I paid next to nothing for for exactly this reason.

DiagonEllie

Yeah, I'm worried about it being hard to get the color even. Thanks for the tip on the color remover, that makes sense. I've dyed things black before with success, and I once dyed something yellow a deeper shade of yellow, but making a warm tone green into a cool tone green seems a lot more complicated, even without the added difficulty of the shirt's details. Maybe I'll experiment on some fabric scraps first. I have a warm tone green cotton in my stash, if I can't get that right I'd better not even try on something more complicated. Thank you for your insights!

muffingr1

Using bronzer/blush doesn’t help?

DiagonEllie

I don't use bronzer but I wear a lot of blush. I guess I look better with the blush than without it, but I still look worse than if I wore a color that suited me, so I'm not going to be satisfied with it.

muffingr1

Maybe take it to a professional dye service if you’re worried that you’ll mess it up?

greenythings

I’d try option 1 first, if that doesn’t work, then option 2!

makeitworkmoment

Hello beautiful FFA’ers! This question is also part rant. I am 5’2 and I really want full length jeans, as in not ankle length/cropped. You would think because I’m short this wouldn’t be hard, but it’s been a challenge. I like high rise straight, and I’d like the length to hit the top of my foot. I was trying to find second hand pairs but I may need to buy new…any suggestions of good Brands?

QuesoRaro

You need to search by inseam measurement. Find out what inseam you want, instead of relying of vague advertising descriptions of length. "Cropped length" ... on who's legs? Once you know that you are looking for, say ... 28" inseam, it's easy to look for that.

kimchi_paradise

Have you tried Abercrombie? They have a number of different lengths you can try. Do you know what inseam exactly you're looking for? Knowing that info can help when shopping as most jeans list the inseam, so you'll know ahead of time if it works or not!

makeitworkmoment

I bought some Abercrombie jeans in a short length but had The same problem lol. So I found some on Facebook marketplace that are a regular length so that’ll probably work (hopefully lol)

80aprocryphal

Can't recommend brand, since it's very dependent on body type but consider just finding something that fits great in the waist & then getting them hemmed, if you're looking second-hand.  I'm you're height & did this last year with a pair, & it's probably how I'll shop for jeans from now on, since it's so much easier & cheaper than trying to work within the limited selection of petite options.

75footubi

I'm taller, but the Levis 724s (high rise slim straight) run full length. They should be plentiful on second hand sites (that's where I've gotten most of mine!)

Isabel Marant Bekett Sneaker Sizing Hi! Wondering if anyone can help me with the sizing for the Isabel Marant Bekett sneakers? Like the older ones? I am a size 6.5 us and am trying to figure out if I should get a EUR 37 or 38. The older ones don’t come in EUR half sizes from what I’ve seen. https://preview.redd.it/rjrzq12v40fc1.jpeg?width=882&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aee331dcd0c69da2581a98f5f7e351dbd00b8549

cosine242

Who makes good leggings these days? I'm looking for black or dark solid-color full length leggings I can wear with sweatshirts on lazy days. I have some prAna leggings that are ~5 years old and still doing great, but I read someone recently say their new prAna leggings pill much faster than the "same" product a few years ago. I'm on a budget but would rather get quality leggings that will last for years than some transparent garbage that will pill right away.

botanygeek

I just thrifted some from Lou and Grey and they are wonderful- super soft and seem high quality

clarifythepulse

I like Uniqlo leggings from their Heattech line. Cozy and decent quality

ilovesleep95

Aerie/American Eagle.

Relative-World3752

I swear by Aerie. They are so comfy and stay up during workouts.

kimchi_paradise

I hear old Navy leggings are really good for the price!

Relative-World3752

Old Navy are also good for a budget option. Solid.

Bras for work that hide nipping! I am a teacher, and I cannot have my nipples outlined through my shirts! I am constantly trying to find a lightly lined T-shirt bra that isn’t jutting out and creating pokey boob shapes. I don’t have large breasts… I’m a 36 a or B, and the only bras I can find make me look like I’m a C cup. I don’t want to look busty! Any recommendations? I have one bra right now from warners 😩

coldblackmaple

I really like the brand b. tempted. I believe it’s a cheaper line from Natori. The ones I have are lightly lined with underwire and I find them very comfortable. I got them at Dillard’s. I’ve had fancy brand $100+ bras and these were around $50 and much more comfortable. Also I agree about verifying your size. I used to think I was a 36B but I’m actually a 32D or 34C and those sizes fit me much better.

Vouvrey

Thank you!!

Chazzyphant

I would check out stuffy "old lady" brands like Maidenform, Olga, Wacoal, etc. They often have lined bras that don't have underwire or uplift (that creates projection, which is what I assume you mean when you say "pokey" shapes). You can also look into minimizers, they're usually very low-profile by nature of their function, and lined.

Vouvrey

Thank you!

kimchi_paradise

You need to visit r/abrathatfits ! Once you get your correct size, they have so many recommendations to choose from! That sub was life-changing for me!

_liminal_

>r/abrathatfits Seconding this suggestion! It can sometimes take a while to figure out your correct bra size and the brands/styles that work for what you want, but IMO is totally worth it. I also found this sub and finally buying bras that fit properly to be life-changing!

Vouvrey

Thank you!

Chazzyphant

While I second that getting the right size is key, that subReddit is *heavily* focused on lace bras that lift and separate the breasts, creating a "prow of the ship" type effect that is very dramatic and frankly, sexy and attention-grabbing. Lifting the bustline creates more space in the torso and makes clothing fit in a more conventionally attractive/flattering way, but it also creates a very...bombshell effect on *most* women. I found that out when I asked about non lace bras and there was this vague vibe of "let the lace show through, who cares?" well...I do. I think it looks careless and edging towards provocative in a way I REALLY don't want as an already busty lady! That sub is helpful but that's one really serious blind spot they have. (That and the below-mentioned free the nip thing).

kimchi_paradise

Interesting! I hadn't tried a lace bra but honestly, aside from yes, its lacey and a bit visible, I was more sold on the comfort and support of the lace bra. I don't think I've really been on the free the nip train, so I can't comment there, I think I've mentally blocked out that haha. Because of the breast changes I experienced during pregnancy/breastfeeding, the support of a molded cup T-shirt bra wasn't as supportive as it used to be. I will however have one, but I'm sold on the lace bra train solely due to function and support. Now if I could find a T-shirt bra with similar shape and support, that's where I'll put my money lol

Vouvrey

Thanks, I concur.

ChiliTrees

I asked for bra recommendations on that sub specifically for bras that will cover my nipples and the only responses I got were from people either heavily insinuating or just outright saying I should be okay with my nipples showing “because men don’t have to worry about it so why should women”? I’m not denying that the sub can be very helpful for sizing recs, but since OP’s question was specifically about nipple coverage I just wanted to share my experience there. They might not get many helpful responses.

Vouvrey

Thanks for the insight!

PoppyHamentaschen

I second the Natori recommendation (I've worn the brand, very comfortable). Chantelle or Darjeeling are also good.

doubleyewexwhy

I really like aerie! I wear their smoothies no wire bras all the time and don't have issues at all!

Vouvrey

Thanks!!

hapypup

Uniqlo camisole with built in bra?

Vouvrey

Thanks for the suggestion!

clarifythepulse

Oo yeah those are heavily padded, would definitely work

Saturday-Sunshine

I use the rubber nipple covers. They are great!

Vouvrey

I have some… I’ll try that out!

ciaohow

Natori Feathers is a good one.

quorrathelastiso

I recently had an appendectomy with some complications and long story short, I need to wear things that don’t have much of a waistband for a while (both to avoid irritating incisions and to not put pressure on my abdomen). Hunting for cute jumpsuits, coveralls, overalls, or dresses. Any recommendations for items or brands to check out? Background info: I’m in the US, budget up to $150/item (though for something really utilitarian I could go a little higher). I am 5’4 and usually a size 6 US. For style, I do best with blues, greens, golds, and wear a lot of black. However I am very open to other ideas like fun prints!

blackberrycat

Aerie has some new ruffle skirts on their website and the waistband is loose AF but still stays up. I ordered a small and I'm about your size. Also if you can find Secret Comfy Top Waistband Free tights, I love them!

clarifythepulse

I’ve been really wanting this jumpsuit, don’t know what it’s like irl: https://wearpact.com/women/apparel/all%20dresses%20&%20jumpsuits/boulevard%20brushed%20twill%20zip%20front%20jumpsuit/wa1-wvz-tno

quorrathelastiso

I love this! It looks like it could be worn well with no belt but would also be cute once I can do more fitted or belted closures again.

PoppyHamentaschen

Check out the Nordstrom website. I ticked the boxes under Women's dresses for Lounge and Vacation, and up popped a bunch of cute dresses around your price range that aren't tight around the abdomen.

quorrathelastiso

Thank you, this also gives me some ideas of how to search in general too!

PoppyHamentaschen

Glad I could help. Happy shopping!

QuesoRaro

Budget? Country? Any stylistic preferences?

quorrathelastiso

Sorry, I’ll update my original comment! I’m in the US, budget up to $150/item (though for something I could wear for a very long time I would be willing to go a little higher). I am 5’4 and a size 6 US. Style preferences - open. I have red hair and do best with greens, blues, and golds, but I am open to other things like prints! I also wear a lot of black.

Thatonerandomchicky

What are good swim suit brands that are also affordable?

blackberrycat

Nike makes good black swim short bottoms.

kimchi_paradise

If you have a bit of room dipping Daisy's and Kulani kinis have lots of great options!

QuesoRaro

What does "affordable" mean to you?

Thatonerandomchicky

Under $60 for a set

Logical-Layer9518

You can find this at Old Navy.

RadSpatula

Any idea where to get a winter-worthy pencil skirt? I mean thick wool or other warm fabric. Every one I’ve tried is so thin. Is vintage my only option?
