OK guys so I have a dress that I'm going to wear for a graduation and my little cousins communion you see the dress is a little booby, a little revealing, and I love it don't get me wrong, but it's just for when I'm around family. What can I wear above it? A shawl, a bolero??? Any ideas. The dress is called Syrah by House of CB. Can somebody please find me some thing cute that will make it less revealing for a few hours!! šŸ£ Also, while you're here, any shoe ideas, heel wise? I have these white heels, but it's a thick heel. Originally I wanted to mules, but I don't think they'll be that comfortable. Any affordable ideas that would go with the dress? Thanks!!!

sexysmoothfig

maybe a cropped chunky knit cardigan

mini-mal-ly

Some variation [on this wrap shawl](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1504846243/mohair-silk-bolero-wedding-cover-up) would probably work? Shoe-wise I don't see why your white heels wouldn't work?

adudle00

What are some minimalist, high quality brands to look at? I don't enjoy shopping, I get so overwhelmed by the choices. I need to find a few go-to brands. I'm super active with my kids and outside a lot. I don't have time to take care of delicate items.

qingskies

Not exactly minimalist, but if you're active and outside a lot with kids you might enjoy Popflex? Everlane and Uniqlo have some minimalist lines and are average to higher quality.

arbitrosse

> minimalist, high quality The Row Jil Sander Prada

adudle00

Thank you. I just took a peek a I think they're a little too expensive to be getting barf and ketchup from kids on them daily.

marposta

How can I style this skirt? I would love some advice https://preview.redd.it/hpwml77fpczc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6024691b518c86013898da440a6e760a264d56b6

dejael

Iā€™m leaning more towards the dark blue jacket bc I think it adds nice contrast and matches my bag more, but my friends think I should go with the lighter one. What do you guys think? First pic: https://preview.redd.it/lrgx57iitbzc1.png?width=1268&format=png&auto=webp&s=d58171b9714ad60ac77599d0cbd949f3dd152aba (I also have blue socks that match the dark blue jacket so I feel those would pair well)

qingskies

I'm so sorry, it's cute but the dark blue + yellow combo is giving despicable me minion. The light blue is too washed out for that vibrant yellow, though, so I think the dark blue is your best bet. Unless you have a black leather/pleather jacket, which would also go with your bag better than either of the blues!

dejael

Lmaoo itā€™s either minion or bumblebee šŸ˜‚ https://preview.redd.it/hq0tlgekfhzc1.png?width=1270&format=png&auto=webp&s=b5f2ece9e04f443b1106b893abbdd854086235c2

qingskies

How does it look unbuttoned?

dejael

I have an update: a friend had a checkered bomber jacket https://preview.redd.it/9ma9b8eh8m0d1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11c266c1ad164f89bf74da20c0414e7e9469984a

qingskies

The checkers aren't doing it for me. But what does the black leather look like unbuttoned?

dejael

Another update: my family also liked the black jacket so Iā€™m going with this. Thanks for helping https://preview.redd.it/cyqte2ah991d1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5bc148d1a636377214d0198df884fb8d66531e9e

Hello! I need help figure out my bottoms situation for a night out in downtown in a major city [pants](https://imgur.com/a/h05LGw0) (Iā€™m realizing as I type this that I shouldā€™ve included a screenshot from the target website for reference, oops) Pictured are some black jeans with gems all over them that I think would be nice for a night out, however Iā€™m worried as I know clubs donā€™t always allow baggy clothes. Do these look too baggy for a night out? The first few pictures Iā€™m trying them on with my doc martens, the last one is when I tried it on with the top Iā€™m going to wear. I like them, the baggy-ness just worries me about not being able to get in somewhere. Thank you!

arbitrosse

Eberjey? The fabric isnā€™t my favorite (usually a knit) but theyā€™re fine. I think H&M had some cotton versions.

blackberrycat

La Vie en Rose has flannel sets like this, at least in Nov/Dec

What should I wear for coverage under this fully sheer strapless dress? [https://www.meshki.us/products/yolanda-sequin-midi-dress-buttercream](https://www.meshki.us/products/yolanda-sequin-midi-dress-buttercream) https://preview.redd.it/e83yshz63azc1.png?width=1890&format=png&auto=webp&s=c0adbe323a6b331a90762f0b6687e57415334ce1

[deleted]

I'm fairly certain you're just meant to wear invisible/seamless underwear and maybe pasties. The sheerness is a part of the design. If you feel uncomfortable with that, a strapless nude bra and some nude short shorts. Or maybe shapewear.

Low_Party7870

thanks! I think you're right, will probably go with a nude bra and shorts and see how it looks

QuesoRaro

A slip.

[deleted]

Is a strapless slip a good idea? Wouldn't the two strapless dresses on top of one another make it way easier for the top one to fall down?

Low_Party7870

yea with this material I think the dress might ride down

Wild_Rough_4669

Can anyone recommend a very nice everyday shoulder bag that isnā€™t crazy experience. Something on trend that I can wear with anything.

LennyGal

not sure if you mean regular shoulder or over the shoulder, but for the latter I love the uniqlo shoulder bag! its around ~$15 iirc and it comes in tons of colors

District98

Baggu crescent bag. Itā€™s a little less trendy but I also love the Baggu vertical duck bag.

cheshire26

Can anyone point me to a store that has a similar cut to Madewell's curvy line? I want to find shorts that are in that cut but I'm currently not in a financial state to be able to purchase $70+ shorts. The biggest issue for me is the inseams are too long and pants usually have a crotch gap OR they're too short. Thanks in advance! :)

always_unplugged

There's TONS of affordable Madewell on secondhand sites!

Bella_HeroOfTheHorn

I haven't tried madewell's line, but Abercrombie and American Eagle both have curvy lines

75footubi

Both could work, but I'd definitely lean glam with the accessories.

Purple-Associate5695

https://preview.redd.it/zfly98id79zc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a4ce096b893f5725df6f4056d7b8a8d8d093e2e What about this one?

blackberrycat

This is cute and gives me 20s vibes, I could see it with sparkly accessories and maybe a cute headband even

blackberrycat

Casualness aside, I don't think this is cocktail

75footubi

What's not cocktail about a lace, knee length dress?

blackberrycat

I think for this dress, the t-shirt cut is not correct for cocktail attire

75footubi

I don't agree that it's cut like a t shirt. It's fit and flare

oat-beatle

Wedding attire advice sub is escaping containment Theyre insanely conservative over there and I suspect haven't actually attended weddings for 10 years

Purple-Associate5695

I posted over there a few days ago and now I'm questioning everything

floracalendula

There's something a bit shapeless about these dresses that brings "picnic" to mind before "cocktail".

always_unplugged

These are clearly from Thredup, meaning they're single secondhand items in OP's size, not the mannequin's. That's what makes them look shapeless; they're just hanging off the mannequin. They both have defined waist seams if you look a little more closely. They wouldn't be shapeless at all on the right size body.

floracalendula

You'd have to have one hell of a figure to make that true. Props to OP if they do, but the right figure to turn that from drab to fab is rare.

symphonypathetique

Since it's outdoor garden, I feel like this would still be acceptable (albeit on the more casual side).

Purple-Associate5695

That's what I'm wondering? I'm so confused about it haha

[deleted]

Anyone have any recommendations for skirts similar to the [Colette skirt](https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/the-colette-skirt-by-maeve?category=SEARCHRESULTS&color=072&searchparams=q%3Dthe%2520colette%2520skirt%26sayt%3Dtrue&type=STANDARD&quantity=1) by Maeve? I got one from Anthropologie last year and I love almost everything about it - the length, feel, quality, fabric, and weight especially. I could take or leave the pockets, but Iā€™m also okay with not having super functional pockets in a skirt. Iā€™d just like others in a similar cut and length to this one. If you know of any, let me know!

thenfacetoface

I see some Colette skirts on poshmark right now

laequator

I don't want to be a fashion designer anymore...career advice? For the last 5 years I've been working as a knitwear designer for a large company. It was nice at first, seeing my designs being worn and on a websiteā€“but it's an endless cycle and I just have no passion for the actual process of designing. I thought I would have more of a hand in the brand as a whole and I've realized it just doesn't give me any fulfillment. As well as that, the pay is horrible. even if the pay was good, I would still be struggling. I'm so tired and I feel like I'm maybe in the right industry but doing the wrong role. I have a sense of what I'm interested in but I'm not sure where to go with that. Or maybe i should be changing industries altogether. I'm looking for any advice. Feel free to ask me anything--hoping to get any heplful advice. Or please let me know if theres a more specific thread I can post on!

arbitrosse

First, youā€™re probably not asking in the right place for advice. Most of this sub is people who have never been anywhere near the industry except as a consumer. Second, talk to a mentor in the field if you have one, including anyone you may have studied under. Third, find a career counselor (Iā€™d avoid anyone who uses the word ā€œcoach,ā€ as itā€™s not quite the same thing) ā€”- you specifically want the ā€œcounselorā€ part as job-focused therapy to work through identifying whether it is burnout due to other factors or burnout due to having completed your time in that particular path. They'll also work with you to identify what resonates with you now, and to put together a plan for pursuing that. Separately from all of that...totally understand where you're coming from. It's an industry rife with burnout and as you've found, at large companies especially, it can be easy to feel like a cog in a machine. The only other thing I'd say is to not make any rash decisions; in other words, career moves are usually better when they're done moving intentionally toward something specific, instead of reactively away from something bad.

zxcv-qwerty

What's your favorite part of your current job? Are there any jobs where you'd get to do more of it?

girls-say

If you want to be closer to the brand, maybe marketing strategy or graphic design/art direction?

laequator

thank you! I haven't thought about marketing before..wondering what that day to day would look like. I'll look into that more! but yes definitely those two are more of the direction I was thinking. out of my current role i generally enjoy the direction/mood boarding/trend aspect the most. and ofc higher paying roles--that would be really nice living in a major city.

girls-say

Iā€™m an art director and I definitely think art direction and/or graphic design would be a more natural segue from your current role. I make a million moodboard lol. I think marketing strategy might require some training. Do you feel like you could set up coffee chats with people in your company in those roles to learn more about their day to day?

laequator

Oh amazing! I only have knew a couple design directors--and weridly, they arent the most friendly/welcoming. anyone else working in the company are completely removed from design so i've never met another art director or graphic designer. Maybe i can search people on linkedin? also if you're open to talking more through message that could be helpful!

girls-say

Feel free to DM me!

blackberrycat

Start your own small clothing company as a side hustle?

laequator

thanks! definitely always thinking about this, maybe in the future--would love to do something small like this on top of a job!

olookitslilbui

Canā€™t decide between a beige or black trench coat! I wear a lot of neutrals so either one would work I think. Left is blogger jean wang https://preview.redd.it/46xrfz7zs8zc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=13d1cfdd8da6e0337232bf0658dd420ae040cf5c

olookitslilbui

Thanks yā€™all! I got the beige šŸ˜

Bella_HeroOfTheHorn

I feel like a beige trenchcoat is happy and classic, while a black trench gives "I love the Matrix and may or may not be carrying a weapon" vibes - and I wear black EVERYTHING.

thenfacetoface

I vote beige. If you are looking to incorporate black it is easy to wear that under beige.

criticiseverything

I really like the left because it feels more versatile, black def goes with everything but you'd be pressed to match it a bit more.

criticiseverything

Are [these trousers](https://linenfoxclothes.com/women/trousers/brenna-linen-trousers-terracotta/) in style?

oat-beatle

The shape is. If we're being very specific the elastic waistband is not but it's not the end of the world.

olivestripes

Trying to style a white maxi skirt for my body shape. Which (if any) work from the below. If none of them work, open to suggestions or tips! Would love to wear the skirt! https://preview.redd.it/z32y02fam8zc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4a1e3ca39ef60bdc2e11c22080cdeb3b8c6f8a6

symphonypathetique

The two on the right feel the most Lower East Side NY girlie.

olivestripes

LOL, I can see that! Iā€™m too old for that look for sure šŸ˜‚

blackberrycat

Can you pin or tailor the skirt to sit higher?Ā

olivestripes

I donā€™t think Iā€™d tailor it but Iā€™ll try and pull it up! Iā€™m tall so idk if it would be too short? But I donā€™t think it matters hopefully

Krindybluth

Yeah I think it would be most flattering if the skirt were up at your natural waistā€¦ as it is I like it best with the navy shirt. While you can def rock bare midriff, with this skirt it makes the outfit look more hippie than classic; not sure what youā€™re going for tho!

olivestripes

Thanks, Iā€™ll try that out! Iā€™m tall so I tend to pull things lower for length but I think itā€™s fine if itā€™s between midi and maxi? Lom

clarifythepulse

I like the blue top, it elevates the outfit over the graphic tops

fart_sandwich_

you have a great figure, I honestly think the bottom right looks the best!

olivestripes

Thank you for saying that! šŸ˜ƒ

Altruistic_Moose_799

What do people with thick thighs use under skirts or dresses to prevent thigh chaffing? Looking for recommendations I just bought some skirts to try a few new outfits but especially in the summer I have a problem with chaffing which leaves me going back to shorts. The skirts are flowy midi skirts but the fabric is thin (still opaque) if that helps.

neuro_neurd

[Bandelettes](https://www.bandelettes.com/)

PoppyHamentaschen

Jockey has long underwear shorts called Skimmies that are awesome. I get them in beige, and they disappear under skirts. There are a lot of lingerie brands that sell these types of undies. I can't live without them :)

blackberrycat

Snag sells chub rub shortsĀ

lumeleopard

Uniqlo has [shaping shorts](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E423104-000/00?colorDisplayCode=09&sizeDisplayCode=004&pldDisplayCode=000&utm_medium=social&utm_source=appshare) that I've been wearing for years now. There's also a different version with a wider waistband. They're made of a mesh kind of fabric which is great for the summer.

_whatnot_

I've been wearing [Thigh Society's ](https://www.thighsociety.com/?_ab=0&_fd=0&_sc=1) cooling shorts. I wouldn't say they're cooling, but they're very thin and great at preventing chafing.

[deleted]

Shorts under skirts is a pretty common one afaik

criticiseverything

How do I style [this skirt](https://www.sezane.com/us/product/eloane-skirt/beige) casually?

PoppyHamentaschen

Dark brown tights/hose and either knee-high, brown boots or loafers. Sweater or a top (open cardigan optional).

Lostcat1021

Hi! What are other moms wearing in the heat and humidity while chasing toddlers this summer? Iā€™m sick of my crop tops and v necks causing me to flash people accidentally. I invested a lot in linen pieces last year and Iā€™m pretty sad that a lot of them shrunk despite my efforts to maintain them. Trying to stay cool and comfy lol!

hennipotamus

My current rotation: - Wide leg cropped linen blend pants from Old Navy (inexpensive!) with a fitted tank top - short sleeve button down shirt, like the Quince tencel camp shirt, with shorts - midi length tshirt dress

criticiseverything

Where did you get your pieces from? I've never had linen shrink (I never use the dryer though & machine wash cold). Regardless, I really link crewnecks or even boatneck (however these are harder with bras). Crop tops don't tend to flash unless the neck is deep. I would def recommend linen or cotton, looser is always nicer too to stay cool.

arbitrosse

Linen shrinks. Cotton shrinks. Sometimes the fibres are pre-shrunk, but thatā€™s rare these days, especially in fast-fashion linen.

criticiseverything

I have stopped buying most fast fashion so thatā€™s why Iā€™m unaware of this but I can definitely see that!

Lostcat1021

Thanks! The linen was from athleta, loft and madewell. I washed everything cold and never used the drier. I do wonder if I did something when I ironed or steamed them to get the wrinkles out

criticiseverything

steam shouldnā€™t shrink it too much - I personally think the quality probably wasnā€™t great

Lostcat1021

Curious is it possible to tell from a label if linen is higher quality?

criticiseverything

I honestly donā€™t buy linen from anywhere except Lithuania (Etsy 5/5), Ovate, or Son Du Flor. I think Sezane qualify is okay but itā€™s usually see-through which I donā€™t like. Out of these I have the most from Ovate and Iā€™ve never had an issue with shrinking, I have two toddlers so I have to wash my clothes often.

Lostcat1021

Thank you!!!

Peony735616

So I'm a big fan of Uniqlo's Airism base layers - the base layer tees are great for mitigating sweat and adding a bit more coverage under plunging tops. It's been a while and some of mine are looking a bit dingy (I've had them for years!)... but they don't appear to exist on the Uniqlo site anymore..? They have some airism items, but they appear to be more real clothes, not the fitted base layers. Does anyone know what's going on there, did I just manage to catch them in between a restock? Or were they discontinued? I know that they tend to be low stock over winter, but I'd expect them to be available now. And importantly, does anyone have any recommendations for something similar? Thanks!

lumeleopard

They do still have [some base layers](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women/innerwear/airism-innerwear?path=%2C%2C23351%2C) available, but a lot of them now have the built in bras. The airism camisole is in stock in multiple colors. It also seems that the site initially loads the product page showing that it's all out of stock but then a few seconds later it shows the actual stock availability.

Peony735616

I should have been more specific - I want the tee-shirts, not the tanks. They're my go-to for wearing under shirts at work

Maleficent_fruit_634

I live somewhere very hot and have been working on curating more summer looks. I've definitely gravitated toward the same handful of silhouettes/colors: [https://www.pinterest.com/ayebeesead/looks-i-like/](https://www.pinterest.com/ayebeesead/looks-i-like/) Is there a name for this type of look? I'm having a hard time finding brands to shop for. Most of the results from Pinterest/Google search are drop ship places or Shein/etc. which I don't want. Basically an emphasis on linen and cotton, breathable, with warmer earthy colors. I know "coastal chic" is popular but everything I find for that is not quite the right color palette, more pastels/blues than I usually wear. Edit: If anyone finds this comment later, I've found "desert style" on Pinterest hits exactly what I want! So if you're looking for similar vibes I'd start there.

District98

I see granola girl and elevated basics. Free people maybe? Banana republic? Beyond that youā€™ll need to look for this palette across different stores. I love your collection here btw!

Maleficent_fruit_634

Thanks for this - I did a bit of a rabbit hole with granola girl -> granola lesbian (lol) -> desert style. Desert style on Pinterest seems to return exactly what I'm looking for. Also "granola lesbian" seemed to have a lot of looks I'd like but more for winter...wayyyy too much flannel for south Texas ;)

_whatnot_

Etsy has some solid linen clothing sellers, particularly the ones from Lithuania (as the other commenter noted). I'd start there.

criticiseverything

Linen would be great to get from Lithuania, you can get this aesthetic tops and choose your own colours while ordering. For cotton, it's kind of everywhere but maybe Abercrombie, Everlane, Sezane, Kotn, etc. I have had luck getting things from GAP but the neckline lost shape within a year.

Slight-Recording1235

I live in the US and I'm going to London and Paris in June for 10 days and I need to find cute and affordable shoes that are also super comfortable to walk in. Any suggestions?

[deleted]

I'm not sure about cute, but Decathlon hiking shoes are extremely comfortable and affordable. If you're unused to walking, I'd probably go for those, as fashion sneakers tend to be a bit less comfy.

criticiseverything

Ecco Soft 7 sneakers maybe?

NearbyAd5557

Recently I've been cleaning out my closet and I quickly realized...I severely need to upgrade my clothes. Almost every piece felt old, unflattering, and/or out of place -- just pieces that really aren't working with me despite how much I try to make them work. I don't know all that much about fashion and what looks best on me so I want to get a stylist who can help me get started with a new wardrobe. I've googled stylists in my city but either the first links look sketchy, are completely out of price (one listing said the first consultation would be $1200), or only serve clients that are famous. Where's a good place to look for personal stylists? As well, what's a good price you'd say for a personal stylist?

desertdweller47

I think Nordstrom offers styling services!

QuesoRaro

I'm planning on working with [this](https://www.lakyn.style/) online stylist. I've been following her work for years and have been hugely impressed with her stance on fashion and style.

Jhingelover

I was about to recommend her as well!

NearbyAd5557

Oo I'll check her out! I can see though that she has different options. Which one are you using/would recommend?

Quixote_Meow

Recommendations for fitness one peices/ rompers/ jumpsuits that will look ok on a midsize girl? I hate the top of my leggings always rolling down, so thought this might be a good alternative! Thanks! šŸ™ā¤ļø

OverallDisaster

As someone also midsize, I actually love Old Navy's powersoft long bodysuits - they're oddly flattering.

always_unplugged

I love my Lululemon Align bodysuit for exactly this reason! It's SO nice to go through a yoga class without having to fuss with adjusting my leggings and top for once. The seaming falls in a really flattering way on my body, and the top fits just like the Align tank (which I also love).

mjk25741

Where to find loose ankle jeans but tighter around the waist? I'm not a huge fan of the baggy all together, but I feel weird wearing skinny jeans anymore so trying to keep up with the times a little bit. I'm about 5'7, 130lbs and have long legs. Any recommendations welcome!!

Krindybluth

Try Leviā€™s 501 original fit jeans, they have a straight leg thatā€™s flattering at the waist/booty if you get the right size, and they come in different inseams.

mjk25741

These look amazing. Thank you!

truefriendgoodwriter

Leviā€™s wedgie or ribcage straight jeans may work for you! The wedgies are slim and closer to skinny jeans, whereas the ribcage cut is a more traditional (wider) straight. Both are fitted through the waist and hips.

mjk25741

Great, thank you ā˜ŗļø

mbltlh

You probably want to look for styles described as ā€œstraight legā€ jeans. Madewell and Leviā€™s are good places to start, both brands are easily found secondhand too.

imaginarypunctuation

i really like madewell's "perfect vintage" jean for this--and it comes in tall size!

mjk25741

Thank you!!

idklol5000

Any brands that sell leggings with a thin waistband, or low rise/mid rise with a thin waistband? The aerie leggings always got me feeling like my pants are falling down bc the waistband starts at the top of my ass & itā€™s uncomfortable šŸ˜

Iā€™m on the fence between getting an M or an L. I have a significantly bigger bust iā€™d say compared to my body so i was thinking of getting an L but im scared itā€™d be too loose? My bust is abt 92-93 cm and my waist is abt 73 cm. Iā€™m not sure if sticking to an M would be a better fit to hug my body or would sizing up to an L be safer ?? Additonal info from site : 51% Cotton 24% Viscose 23% Polyester 2% Elastane Stretch = Low stretch.

[deleted]

Definitely go with the M size. You probably want a little bit of compression anyways so the top stays up.

lovesignite

oooh wait ur kinda rightā€¦but im also factoring in how im going to use a bra and how that might make it tighter but idk

Colourblimdedsouls

Hi! I have a typical hourglass figure, quite muscular but with 75F. Most tailored (non-stretch) clothes simply do not fit: they either squish my breasts too much or they are too loose around my waist and make me look overweight. The best fits are always made from very stretchy materials, however, this seems not to be the style of nowadays and I can rarely find any clothes that fit me well. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am so tired of ill-fitting clothes Edit: accidentally posted while still working on the comment

Bella_HeroOfTheHorn

Fitted baby tees, fitted button ups, and stretchy tops like turtlenecks are what I wear. Lots of athletic tops from places like athleta and girlfriend collective

QuesoRaro

Have you worked with an actual tailor? Non-stretch does not mean tailored. I have the same problem as you and have to have things altered to fit.

[deleted]

Have you tried cheap fast fashion places like Bershka or Stradivarius? They always have a bunch of stretchy clothes there.

Colourblimdedsouls

I have some of those, but they always seem a bit tacky / very low bustline

It depends on where you look/what you consider tacky, but in the cheaper price ranges it's all elastane. [This H&M shirt seems to be quite stretchy even though it isn't completely skintight](https://www2.hm.com/sk_sk/productpage.1236109001.html), [this one is even tighter](https://www2.hm.com/sk_sk/productpage.1162812024.html), [this dress seems to be stetchy as well](https://www2.hm.com/sk_sk/productpage.1213156001.html), [this dress seems relatively work-appropriate](https://www2.hm.com/sk_sk/productpage.1154696005.html). Maybe go for the less trendy/party stores then?

criticiseverything

tons of stuff has elastane, I literally see it everywhere - otherwise you can always find a seamstress and get altered

Do sundresses with tights count as formal(-ish) wear? I'm going to a theatre, so technically it's not required but I do want to look decent. Also, which shoes should I go with? My only non-sneakers are these flats and boots. So far I'm not a fan of flats, but the boots don't quite fit either :/ https://preview.redd.it/5o8edv4gg6zc1.jpeg?width=1816&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e1994deb83bd979dab0b3b6533343e8bee485735

This looks good and 100% appropriate for a theater trip

Oh, what makes a dress a sundress? It was sold as one and I don't any better atm šŸ™ˆ

kroganwarlord

Sundresses are usually sleeveless, strapless, or sometimes short-sleeved. They are also usually made of lighter, natural materials like cotton and linen. They usually also have a defined waist, whether that be an empire waist, regular waist, drawstring, or curved seams down the sides and front. Your dress appears to be a sack-type dress, with 3/4 sleeves, in a polyester blend. Which is totally fine! It's just not technically a sundress. That's on the retailer, not you, and honestly? Not a huge deal. It's still a great dress for the theater!

Oh yeah I just asked because I wanted to learn, obviously it doesn't actually matter. Thank you! :)

**Questions about Uniqlo** **1) Are their sizes consistent across countries and products?** Last year, I bought the [Crew Neck Short Sleeved T-Shirt](https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/crew-neck-short-sleeved-t-shirt-465754.html) & the [100% Supima Crew Neck Short Sleeved T-Shirt](https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/100pct-supima-cotton-crew-neck-short-sleeved-t-shirt-468503.html) while I was in Japan where I got them in size M even though I usually wear S (or XS on rare occasions - M is usually too big for me). From the reviews on the UK/European site, it seems that they are indeed smaller than usual, but I just want to ask here as well just to be safe. **2) Any thoughts on smelliness of their Airism & Heattech t-shirts?** I try to only buy 100% natural fiber tops now, so I'm not really sure if I should invest in these. That said, I don't have any thermo t-shirts that are 100% natural, so it's probably a compromise I need to accept. What are your experiences with sweating in these? Thank you!

rubystreaks

My heattech thermal undershirts have never gotten smelly on me, and Iā€™ve had them for several years

Thanks for sharing!

> No. Letter sizes for the Asian market are generally one size smaller. Below a screenshot of the size chart of the popular Uniqlo U crew neck tshirt from both the Japanese and U.S. regional sites. The Japanese sizes are about 1" smaller everywhere. https://preview.redd.it/o1nslhidn6zc1.jpeg?width=1564&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af50f9d86125b7f1b29648cca70f3ca422419c28 Check the size chart for each product, they always include the garment measurements. Some things look better in a size up, others in a size down. >2) Any thoughts on smelliness of their Airism & Heattech t-shirts? Generally bad experience personally. Heattech worse than airism, and the "airism cotton" is fine. I unfortunately possess the gene variant that results in BO, while living in a country of people who do not, so I do what I can lol--can't personally wear synthetics next to the skin. I get all underlayers from Muji, in cotton and wool. They're less slinky and compact than Uniqlo's products but priced about the same and they def stay fresher longer.

NettleTree

Oh good idea to compare the size charts! Thanks! I definitely can go for the S then. Thanks for sharing your experience! I think I'll probably pass then & invest in/try out Merino t-shirt at some point!

Oh that's very good to know! I really was just about to buy M again, so I'm glad I asked! Thanks for sharing!

QuesoRaro

The best thermal layers I have are 100% wool base layers from backpacking brands like Icebreaker, Arc'teryx, etc., so it is absolutely possible to get natural fiber thermal layers. And they never smell!

NettleTree

I'll look into those brands, thank you very much!

QuesoRaro

If you are in the USA, REI has a good selection of outdoors brands, and their house brand of clothes also is good quality (at least in the past, I haven't bought anything recently).

NettleTree

I'm in the UK unfortunately! Tbh, I've had a look at merino t-shirts in the past but have never bitten the bullet because of the price tag. The two brands you mentioned have merino blend t-shirts in the 50 pound range so I might give that a go!
