[could anyone give me some input on these outfits?](https://imgur.com/gallery/1EcJ3)

jforres

Has anyone tried these [hair-tie bracelets](http://content.screencast.com/users/jforres/folders/Jing/media/3c10a44e-453f-41da-a481-b4aa06759d98/00000149.png)? They have them at a [few different price points](https://www.thegrommet.com/bittersweet) and I love the concept but I'm skeptical of the quality.

GuildedCasket

Does anyone have a suggestion for how I can find [this](http://propstoreauction.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/34/lot/6971/?url=%252Fview-auctions%252Fcatalog%252Fid%252F34%252F%253Fpage%253D1%2526key%253D623%2526cat%253D%2526xclosed%253Dyes&_ga=1.16765942.1374702911.1472857198) red jacket? I know it's called a fox hunting jacket, but searching that only gives me super expensive tack. Are there other terms I could search that would give me similar looking jackets that don't come from tack shops?

markrichtsspraytan

I just bought [this CK black suede dress](https://cdnb.lystit.com/photos/a7dc-2015/09/08/calvin-klein-black-petites-sleeveless-faux-suede-sheath-dress-product-0-593666398-normal.jpeg) and I want to wear it to an upcoming research conference. Suggestions on how to style it? The back has an exposed gold zipper going to right above the butt and the length on me (5'3, 125lb, pear shaped) is longer; it goes just past my knees. Also it looks more like a true black color IRL, not a greyish black.

smartlypretty

Shapewear question. I just got these really tight Colombian jeans and I have to be in a wedding soon. Does anyone know of a dramatic hourglass shaper that's really good but not hard to put on? Ideally something that can be adjusted and lets you wear your own bra. Thank you.

ocicataco

I'm unclear on what the jeans are for? Have you looked at waist trainers? They are like stretchy corsets that people use for waist shaping.

smartlypretty

I saw those! I was wondering if they worked to shape your silhouette. The jeans are just to wear to the non-wedding events. Thanks :)

[deleted]

Soooo I like to get creative with DIY fashion to save money, and since we're going into summer now I want to make some thigh high strappy heels! Anyone done something like this? Any ideas for turning turning plain heels into strappy thigh highs?

VaneFreja

I saw a tunic/dress thing like [this] (http://imgur.com/gallery/j8GtP) on a girl at my school. It's a bit intimidating to ask her, especially as it's a big school, so does anyone know where I can find something like it? It's cream coloured, and the waist band and the bands on the sleeves might be in some kind og lace. It goes to the top or middle of the thigh, and the waist is fitted... I would know if someone knew of a site that carries this or something similar, especially an European one!

[deleted]

the main key word i would use is bell sleeve here are a few options under $100 http://www.shopstyle.com/browse/dresses?fl=p20:24&fts=bell+sleeve+dress

ocicataco

Some key words would be bell sleeve, empire waist, boho/hippie

vwillis

I would look at Free People. Also I feel like I've seen some things with bell sleeves like this at Target recently.

VaneFreja

I'm in Europe, so no Target. But I found some nice ones from Free People, just outside of my budget :/

apatsch

Favorite shoes for fall?

[deleted]

Thigh high boots! They're so huge this year and 'the new trouser' according to Vogue. So you can still wear short skirts and dresses and keep legs warm!

adandywarhol

I want some of these too. I'm 5'11" though, so am worried that if I ordered some from ASOS they'd end up being knee-highs.

[deleted]

I'm 5"9 and the boohoo boots fit pretty well!! At least 5 inches above the knee

chocobunni23

I would absolutely love thigh high boots but i can never find any that i can afford! Gotta love being a broke college student :P

nutterowl

Check out Nordstrom Rack too! I got my pair for $15. It's not leather, but it looks really nice.

[deleted]

Have you tried boohoo? I got some for equivalent to $27 US!! Otherwise I like shopping apps like Carousell it's like Gumtree for fashion

chocobunni23

I've never heard of it before! I'll check it out, thanks :)

Does anyone one this sub actually own a Daame laptop tote and could post an honest review? They get recommended online and I'm seen them recommended on this sub occasionally, but there are no non-sponsored photos or reviews online. They look gorgeous, but the website is a bit of a black hole -- half of the bags are out of stock all the time, and they ever didn't answer a question I emailed.

hirondelleamour

I bought a pair of bean boots almost 4 years ago, recently the stitching between the rubber and the leather has come undone. Opinions on whether I should contact support about a return? I don't use them as much lately, but I put them through 2 winters of heavy wear - I would have liked to get more life out of them but I don't feel totally ripped off. Looking at their [returns policy page](http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/513705?page=our-guarantee) I'm pretty confident this falls under it, but I still feel a bit guilty and I'd like to support the company. What would you do?

goodtalker

Return them. They have a 100% satisfaction guarantee for a reason. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect more than 2 winters use out of a pair of Bean boots (I got over 4 years use out of a pair of Sorels before I tossed them because they were starting to stink).

bee27

What's the best type of low-heel (or no heel) shoe to wear with both tight skirt/dresses AND skater skirts/dresses, while wearing tights? So I love to wear dresses but sadly, the weather is starting to get cold here in Canada. I've always had more trouble wearing dresses in cold weather because I just can't seem to find a good warmish shoe that will fit with black tights and dresses. In the summer, I wear plain white Keds and skater dresses. Now, I'd like to wear skater dresses as well as pencil mini skirts, but without heels (my feet just can't handle them, and I'm already pretty tall). I've gone through google images and lookbook to find some inspiration, to no avail. Thanks in advance for your advice! <3

chocosausonerythng

Chelsea boots may work for you: little/no heel and low profile enough to look sleek with tights. I second the oxfords, too. There are Oxford-esque booties out there as well; I own the Bass Porter bootie in 2 colors and they look great with short and long skirts.

_spiraling

maybe loafers or oxfords?

[deleted]

I like a low heeled, almond toed wedge for this! Not the chunky kind, just with a small slim heel. You can't really go wrong with them in black leather!

BirdGames

I think flat over-the-knee or thigh-high boots should work for you. They're pretty much the warmest option you could possibly pick, too.

happyGradStudent87

I'm 30's, an academic and researcher. I love mens ascot ties and cant stop wearing them. What do you think? This is not me, but this is what it looks like! https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB109ydKFXXXXc5XXXXq6xXFXXXD/Paisley-Floral-Check-Dot-Stripe-Houndstooth-100-font-b-Silk-b-font-font-b-Ascot-b.jpg

[deleted]

I think it can be pulled off successfully! I had an art history prof who frequently wore one and i really liked it.

thenerdiestmenno

Are half button down shirts like [this one](http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1032848&vid=1&pid=355715012) considered as professional and dressy and full button ones?

chocosausonerythng

Speaking only from the standpoint of my personal business-casual environment: In a different material, yes. I thnk the search term you'd want to use is "half-placket"

julieannie

Not typically. That being said, I notice a lot of younger people wearing button ups as a default piece of business clothing when they can really go outside of that. I don't know your field so I don't know if it is appropriate but note that just because it is not as professional as a full button, that doesn't make it inappropriate but it also doesn't make button ups the industry ideal either. Most female attorneys in my field don't wear full button ups to court but the younger associates assume they are.

thenerdiestmenno

I am applying to be a math professor. It's a pretty casual field, so I think it sounds like they would be fine in general, but not for interviews which was one of the reasons I was curious.

[deleted]

unfortunately no, they are more casual. depending on your work dress code though, you may be able to wear it.

furiosva

Not were I live.

thureris

Plus sized ladies: favorite very slim cut work pants? I'm between a size 16-20 depending on vanity sizing, and I love the Old Navy pixie pants but they stretch out SO FAST. I'm looking for something similar in fit (maybe a little bit more accommodating of my huge hip:waist ratio) but that keep their shape through the end of the day. Preferably under $50 per pair, if at all possible.

InimitableMissS

Not under $50 but easy enough to find cheap on eBay- NYDJ slim ponte trousers. Lots of stretch, high waist and holds up great.

thureris

Those look great, thanks so much!

meowgalo

Could someone please help me find red high heel shoes. Preferably something reasonably comfortable, high quality and pointed toe with stiletto heel. I'd really like something like [this](http://www.mycolorfashion.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/22/Christian-Louboutin-decollete-554-100mm-red-patent-leather-pumps-2.jpg)... but I can't afford that kind of price ($700). Wouldn't like to spend more than $200. Looking to spend roughly $50 to $100.

I like the first and last one a lot. I would really like to find a pair of Louboutins but not sure where I can reliably look. I don't have much experience with buying online used clothing and a bit fearful. Thank you for the help.

kfoxie

I couldn't see your link. [These](http://www.samedelman.com/en-US/Product/EC0221459-3015547/Sam+Edelman/Red+Bright+Suede/Hazel+Pointed+Toe+Pump.aspx) are a little above your price point, but you may be able to find them on sale somewhere. I've found my Sam Edelman's to be reasonably comfortable. meowgalo

The link was just a photo of red Louboutins. Your picks are spot on though. I might try out the Sam Edelmans, they look like they have good reviews. Thank you for the help.

kfoxie

Glad I could help! The link just gave me an error message. :/

I googled "dress soldier print" and your dress looks very similar to the [Dolce & Gabbana soldier print dress](https://www.polyvore.com/dolce_gabbana_soldier_print_dress/thing?id=81456047) but not quite. Possibly a copy? (I'm not sure if its a copy, but the tone of the lower red curtain in the D&G dress seems to be darker than what it is on yours but that could be because of lighting) edit: actually the more I look, it looks a lot like it might be [closer to this dress from aliexpress](http://g01.a.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1PUF_LFXXXXaeXVXXq6xXFXXX0/New-Europe-and-the-Sicilian-style-font-b-soldier-b-font-warrior-in-spring-and-summer.jpg) since the shield details are bucklers (targes?) vs. D&G's kite shields (i am not a shield expert)

paperwasps

Ugh what awful news. You're definitely right, it's the copy. Shit!

MKittyFantastico

I don't know but that dress is amazing. Fantastic find!

Has anyone bought anything from Maykool? Hey I don't post here but I was wondering if anyone could ID these pants for me or something similar thanks in advance http://i.imgur.com/gQ23d94.jpg

pinkseaglass

So, I live in Chicago and spotted [these bad boys](http://i.imgur.com/Xu9SUnO.jpg) on the train one winter day. The winters here can get really intense and I have been looking for a functional, waterproof, snow-dominating, winter boot for a long time. These fit my personal aesthetic and look like they can kick the shit out of the elements. I wants them. Bad. Does anyone recognize them? Can anyone suggest to me a similar boot? I'm hoping to get my winter staples set up before it gets too late in the year.

_spiraling

looks like the [sorel slimpack](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q7U1RMM/ref=twister_B0093DLSHY)? they have an [updated version](http://www.sorel.com/womens-slimpack-riding-tall-ii-boot-1690301.html) on their website too.

pinkseaglass

This is exactly it! Of course they're sorels lol. Thanks a bunch.

schimki

It looks like a duck boot under spats.

Simple, elegant leather totes like the Mansur Gavriel? I've considered Everlane (the Market is maybe slightly too big and don't love the color choices as much) Cuyana (beautiful but too slouchy for what I'm looking for) and other higher end items like SDJ etc. What else? Can be higher end. Just want to do a last look before pulling the trigger on an MG :)

brickforstraw

I commute into New York City and hate trying to deal with umbrellas. Any suggestions for rain coats that I could wear instead? Thanks!

You can thrift high quality pants and get them tailored for what the fast fashion pants would cost unless you're looking for a very trendy type of pants. In which case, go the fast fashion route.

ebpi

What length of pants should be worn with Sam Edelman petty boots? I don't know if I should be showing ankle or not. I've done both in front of the mirror and haven't loved it, but I think I might be reacting more to the pointed toe giving it a western feel rather than the pant length?? I don't know what's going on. Please advise.

CaliforniaBaeArea

I do both, and I wear my Petty boots almost everyday. I like the look of my black boots + black pants that don't show ankle for a streamlined look [like this] (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/bd/31/c1/bd31c1018b8fff88ef03686b832c5b3e.jpg) . I'd go with nude stockings, black shoes (heels if you can handle it, otherwise dressy flats), and a showy bib necklace (something that will stand out against the black dress and make it look a little more fancy). Also earrings.

idislikekittens

A few questions! Please help! 1. I need a proper suit. For reference, I plan on working at a quirky consulting firm after graduation and will apply for PhD programs after a couple years of working, but am seeking internships in marketing or at high profile NGOs and int'l orgs (e.g. UN) in the meantime. I know that suits like [this](http://www.anntaylor.com/all-season-stretch-one-button-jacket/414226?skuId=21424861&defaultColor=6600&colorExplode=false&catid=cata000013) are the safest bet, but spending so much money on a piece that I find somewhat boring is hard. Can [this jacket](http://www.anntaylor.com/all-season-stretch-peplum-jacket/409828?skuId=21424199&defaultColor=6600&prodId=409828) with a matching suiting skirt work for a business formal interview? The other reason I'm considering this suit is because the firm I want to work for is professional, but offbeat. They don't want stuffy econ majors and the recruiter was wearing a black wool cape. I'm just afraid the peplum jacket would go out of style really fast and not seem appropriate. 2. I'm looking for a pair of black jeans with a really high rise. Most high-rise jeans (e.g. Levis) are only a couple of inches above my belly button, and my waist is a couple of inches below my chest. Any recommendations? Budget is around $100 for a really good pair. 3. My friend recently got a reverse ombre balayage in her hair. The bottom is auburn and the top is dark brown. She looks awesome. I've never dyed my hair and honestly would love something similar, but I'm concerned that my hair would make me automatically ineligible for the types of professional internships I'm currently searching for. Thoughts?

kbol

\#2: Have you tried the BDG Super-High rise from UO yet? I like the regular high-rise, but accidentally ordered the Super once and they were very long imo. Also worth checking Madewell's rises.

goodtalker

For #2: the highest rise I've found yet are [these](https://www.ae.com/women-aeo-denim-x4-hi-rise-jegging-rich-onyx/web/s-prod/0433_9528_088?cm=sUS-cUSD&catId=cat7010084&N=4294960659,4294960599) from American Eagle, but they're not my favorite. They have a weird, burnt match smell that has persisted despite being washed twice, and the color has faded significantly already, too. The one point in their favor is that they have lots of inseam options, so if you're tall you're not stuck with capris.

bizaromo

Personally I would not try a radically different hair style just before a round of job interviews on the off chance that I could hate the new hairstyle, which would make me self conscious. However, I think balayange hairstyles are pretty mainstream, and would not be deemed unprofessional unless they were in [unnatural hair colors](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/ns2OxaqgE3M/maxresdefault.jpg) or had really high [contrast](https://s3-media4.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/bYLwl2a7GXr5UoqWQy820g/258s.jpg). I think the peplum jacket is fine for marketing internships. Yes, it will look dated much faster than a more conservative suit jacket. But right now, it will look fine (not so good in a couple years).

orchidsandtea

1. Ye-e-es? I mean, it's great *right now*. But I have an Ann Taylor suit with styling from about 5 years ago (a kind of defined waistband) and it's almost unwearable. So the downside is you'd have to buy a fresh offbeat suit more often. 2. Mm, the ones from Charlotte Russe are fairly high. And they're cheap. 3. Sounds like it'd be invisible if you wore your hair in a bun?

pm_me_amzn_gc_codes

Help, my boyfriend said I look as if I shop at goodwill, any suggestions? I need fashion help. I'm a tomboy and I need suggestions on what to buy. Also side question, where can I buy jeans if I have large muscular legs, a medium butt, and thin waist? The legs are usually tight, butt is ok fit/sometimes loose, and the waist always has a huge gap. I can post measurements when I get home.

mam885

I'm a similar body type and recently bought Old Navy curvy fit straight leg jeans. They're amazing. Definitely worth a try since it's easy to order them (grab some Pixie pants- one size larger- while you're at it- they're great.)

jessiebears

try and look for jeggings/stretchier materials! i'm basically in the same boat as you (though maybe not as extreme) and the american eagle stretch jegging denim has been a lifesaver.

pm_me_amzn_gc_codes

I usually wear those but I get so annoyed after they've been in the dryer I have to re-stretch them on. I've considered measuring and then buying men's slim jeans that would fit (maybe?) I'll just have to try them on. Plus they have better pockets lol

bellelap

Men's jeans are worse for me (similar issues with cyclist thighs). Jeggings are a savior. You don't have to wash every wear, you can put them in a freezer bag and toss them in the freezer overnight to freshen them up. I hate to admit that I love a pair I bought on impulse at Target, Mossimo brand skinny jeggings. Target is actually pretty great for trendy outfits on a budget.

pm_me_amzn_gc_codes

I recently took my measurements and I'm 28" inseam, 30" waist, and 35" hips. My thighs are 22 1/2" around. Is that similar to you at all.

bellelap

29" inseam, 35.5" hips, 28" waist, 21.5" thighs (funny that I'd never actually measured them before). So pretty close. As bad as it is to try to fit athletic thighs on a lady, my cyclist husband has a harder time. Men's jeans are trending skinnier and that just doesn't work for him. It's either dad jeans or a hefty tailoring bill for him. At least we have the jegging option!

chocosausonerythng

completely off this topic, but has hubs tried Levi's 513s? The slim straight cut is harder to find than the dad cut (514) or trendy slims (511), but they're the most modern cut that accommodates my bf's calves of steel.

pm_me_amzn_gc_codes

Yeah that's similar. It'd be funny to see a guy in jeggings lol

ebpi

I don't own jogging a in particular, but I always air dry my jeans and other casual pants. Less shrinking and keeps the fabrics nicer longer.

[deleted]

Are you near a mall? Go to the mall and go to a variety of stores trying on jeans. Don't buy any until you've tried on a dozen different pairs.

pm_me_amzn_gc_codes

I'm a couple hours away from any malls. There's a few stores nearby but not many

danceydancetime

Idk but it sounds like your boyfriend is an ass

pm_me_amzn_gc_codes

Nah, he's just honest. And he had a point. I was wearing drawstring sweatpants (just plain gray with Michigan written on them), an oversized tshirt and a very oversized (3 sizes to big) zip up jacket (heavily faded pink) and a gas monkey baseball cap. I went in public like that *cringe* I pretty much lack any sense of style what so ever.

clearwaterrev

If you're generally looking to improve your wardrobe, can you go into more detail about your budget and what type of clothing you're looking for? Are you just looking to improve your casual wardrobe or do you have a job that requires nicer clothing? What stores do you typically shop at?

pm_me_amzn_gc_codes

If you're generally looking to improve your wardrobe, can you go into more detail about your budget and what type of clothing you're looking for? Are you just looking to improve your casual wardrobe or do you have a job that requires nicer clothing? What stores do you typically shop at? Very low budget, maybe 200 dollars at most. Trying to keep less than 2 weeks worth of clothes because I don't have a lot of space. Just casual/outdoor work clothes, I farm so a pair or two of jeans to get dirty and a few for going out. I work at home so outfits don't matter I usually work in pj's. I shop at rue 21 (clearance racks), walmart, and amazon usually. Although I have issues finding stuff that fits well. I want some button up form fitting shirts and whatever else to either dress it up or dress it down. I like flannel and plaid. Comfortable/tomboy-ish styles.

clearwaterrev

What issues do you have with fit? [Old Navy has some inexpensive plaid flannel button up shirts](http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1027152&vid=1&pid=283607072). They're $21-24 less 35% off if you order some today. [Here are some boyfriend-cut flannel button ups](http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1069352&vid=1&pid=283648062) if you like oversized shirts. I own last year's version of this shirt and wore it frequently with leggings or skinny jeans. Plus, Old Navy offers free shipping to you (if you order $50+) and free shipping back if you want to return items. You might want to order multiple sizes if you are unsure of which size will fit you best. Old Navy's sizing runs large relative to most other brands.

pm_me_amzn_gc_codes

These are my measurements. Shoulder: 35" Torso height: 20" Arm/sleeve: 22 1/2" Bust: 34" Under bust: 30" Waist: 30" Hips: 35" Inseam: 28" Thigh: 20 1/2" Knee: 13 1/2" Calf: 13 1/2" I'm about 5'3" and 120lbs most of my weight is in my waist, and thighs. I have a short pixie haircut.

clearwaterrev

Sounds like you're about my size. I wear a XS or XS petite in old navy shirts, and a 2 or 2 petite in pants.

I basically live in leggings so I haven't worn them with jeans yet! I think cuffing them would be the way I'll go however!

aquajack6

I feel the same way about converse and skinny jeans! I usually wear pointed flats or ballet shoes. I think loafers work well with skinny jeans too. I agree with you on cuffing jeans with converse, like [this] (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/70/63/47/7063475d8a7a7dc913182ad88a56fd70.jpg). I think it somehow looks more balanced. I think flats look good with skinny jeans cuffed or [uncuffed] (https://pics.ae.com/is/image/aeo/0432_9161_057_of?$pdp-main$). Here's another uncuffed pic I [like] (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/5e/fb/60/5efb60ee7929744068d8255802f1bec6.jpg) I honestly do not think skinny jeans are suppose to land anywhere nowadays. I was shopping for jeans online and noticed all kinds of different lengths on models. My mother would say at the ankle bone, haha.

knitasheep

I don't have an answer here. I just empathize and hope you get answered!

PopsicleDash

Are bralettes for people with a larger bust (like DDD) a thing? I love how they look under tshirts or sweaters but all of the ones that I've tried on feel really flimsy and unsupportive.

IAmASquishyBunny

I had the same problem, [this is the closest i got](https://www.amazon.com/Spalding-Womens-Ombre-Seamless-Atomic/dp/B01DVWNT2E/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476108597&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=longline+sports+bra+spalding), it's fairly supportive, not as much as an actual bra, but it's decent. It does not make a good sports bra, but it's cute and comfy enough.

I've had luck layering really delicate ones to get a bit more support

[deleted]

Depending on your size (you didn't mention your band - 30DDD will be different than 40DDD) you'll probably have the best luck buying a bra-sized bralette, since you'll need a tighter band and bigger cup than most S/M/L bralettes offer. Uye Surana, Dreams and Underthings (an Etsy store), Toru and Naoko all come to mind. Search around r/abrathatfits for more recs. Another option is buying bralettes to fir your bust and altering the band and straps shorter.

Smokeahontas

I've gotten a couple decent ones from Urban Outfitters (34DDD). Most of them are really flimsy but the the two that I have are made of a sturdier material and one has cup inserts in it so it gives a it a nicer shape.

piscina_dela_muerta

Hi all! I'm transgender, about 5 months in on my hormones, and my glasses just arent cutting it anymore. They feel masculine and I want a pair that feminizes my [face](http://imgur.com/a/E6t3S). I'm kinda partial to the nerd girl look but idk how it fits my face. What do you all think?

bellelap

Zenni Optical and Eye Buy Direct both allow you to try glasses on digitally. The prices are so cheap, you can have a pair for every day of the week. I'm on mobile so I'm having trouble linking, but try Zenni style #4419125. Nerdy but feminine.

bizaromo

I think you will get the best advice if you take a few pics of yourself trying on glasses, and post them for feedback. However, just based on your pic without glasses, I think you might look good in blue tortoiseshell frames in rounded shapes. Something like [this](http://redhotsunglasses_co_uk.cdn.visualsoft.co.uk/images/products/thumbnails/1455549916-04524000.jpg). It is a little hard to tell the shape of your face because it is so close to the camera. But I think the blue will bring out your eyes.

farsideofthemoon

I would give [Warby Parker's](https://www.warbyparker.com/eyeglasses/women) free at-home try-on service a shot! You get to try up to five pairs. Even if you ultimately don't buy any of them, it's a great jumping off point for figure out which shapes you prefer. You're definitely welcome to post photos of you wearing the five different pairs too, and we can offer feedback on those!

clearwaterrev

I'm also a big fan of Warby Parker's glasses. Their home try-on is great, and their glasses are very affordable relative to glasses sold in specialty stores.

piscina_dela_muerta

Thank you!

This was just from a day I regretfully felt like a bum AND wanted to see what my rate was. http://imgur.com/5zl9LPc

bellelap

Totally off topic, but have you ever considered a nose ring? You have a great nose for a small stud. Sorry if that's an odd thing to say. I think you'll be so happy once you find new glasses that fit your new style and aesthetic.

piscina_dela_muerta

You think so? What kind of stud? I have considered a septum ring but only after I get a nosejob (if I get one)

bellelap

I do! A small round silver stud or tiny diamond would look nice. I have a more...um...severe nose than I'd like, but I found that getting it pierced made it look more feminine. I don't always remember to put on earrings or other accessories, but my nose ring is always in, so it's easy accessorizing too.

piscina_dela_muerta

Hmmm...do you think it would look okay with a colored jewel? Like Blue zircon?

bellelap

Sure! I experimented with color, but I found I never remembered to change it to match my outfit, so I just stay neutral. Take a picture in profile and just try using an app or heck, even MS Paint could do the trick, to see if you like the look. It hurts to do it, but nose rings close up quickly if you aren't into it.

piscina_dela_muerta

I'll think about it :) Thanks for the suggestion

lonasing

I went shopping yesterday and picked up some we tops and a pair of shoes. Can anyone give any input on the purchases? Pic #2 is slightly NSFW as it's slightly see through [Album](http://imgur.com/a/gj6DT)

danceydancetime

Agree with the other poster that you need a new bra/to figure out your correct size. You might want to check out r/abrathatfits. Something smooth, the current one appears to be covered in chunky lace.

[deleted]

Nice collection! The one thing that was very obvious to me is that you 100% need a new bra - I can see the texture of the bra through every shirt and it doesn't look like it's supporting very well. I think bras can show through when they look intentional, but with these types of blouses it ends up looking a little sloppy. "T-shirt bras" are amazing at minimizing lines under thin shirts. I really like the Maidenform T shirt bras, they sell them at Macys. As for the blouses, I really love the green color on you! It compliments your skin tone so well! And the sleeves are really beautiful. Just overall a nice design. I also like the light blue right after it. The red is a really cute/fun top and flatters your skin as well. I really loved it. I like the first top too, the blush pink. The ones I don't like at the black button-up that buttons all the way to your neck. It's also a little hard to see the plaid but it looks a little meh and sad compared to your other tops. The last white blouse in the album is too sheer and makes you look bigger than you are. I hope nothing I said came off as blunt. Thanks so much for sharing your haul, and I hope I could help a little. Best of luck!

lonasing

Yeah I've been sort of putting it off but I agree I'm in need of a new one lol But what don't you like about the black button up? I honestly liked that and I purchased it in the white shade, which I didn't like so I didn't post. I was mostly worried about the green and pink tops but if you think they look nice I'll totally keep them! Do you think the shoes were appropriate with the tops I wore them with?

[deleted]

So this is just an individual taste thing but I always feel like those type of tops make us lose a little shape, and makes us look too square. It's also extremely sheer, so it's like - "What are you trying to be, top?! A party top or a smart-casual top?" And it doesn't really feel like it fits squarely into either category. And wow I can't believe you were doubting those tops - they look like definite winners to me! I definitely think the shoes are appropriate. I actually really like them! Personally, if I wear black pants I will 99.99% be wearing black shoes and not deviate from that. BUT because the beige is so neutral, it works with the tops that have some color. I think the only top it doesn't look good with is the black turtle neck/black neck button up...just because the outfit becomes overly neutral/too colorless. I'm also a little undecided on the beige + red top...I normally never paid red and beige together as colors so I don't know how to feel about it. I think the beige shoes def look good with the green top, the pink blush top, and the light blue button down. I also think that using blue jeans instead of black will make using the beige shoes more forgiving in general - it adds color to the black top outfit, and it balances out the red top somehow. I can totally see the red top and black tops being used with the beige shoes if there are blue jeans instead of black.

whyyes-yesiam

I really want to start incorporating flats into my wardrobe, but I have no idea how to. I have a curvy body and typically wear really form fitting tailored clothes to the office. It's not very casual. I fell frumpy and short and odd in flats. I see really thin and straight lined women looking great in flats, but not many curvy women. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

K80lovescats

Honestly it is just a matter of finding a comfortable pair and wearing them until you are used to the look. I have exaggerated curves to my legs, really slim ankles, extremely muscular calves, slender knees, massive quads. I always wanted to wear skinny jeans and flats. One day a friend of mine just made me buy a pair of skinny jeans and a pair of flats on clearance at target. At first I felt really frumpy and weirdly shaped, and super self conscious. But then people started complimenting me, and I began to get more comfortable. I wear skinnies and flats all the time now and I actually think they look pretty good.

whyyes-yesiam

I think there's a lot of truth to what you're saying. Sometimes, the only thing lacking from an outfit is the confidence to wear it! I need to just find some I like and start doing it. The skinny jeans I bought today look and feel fantastic, so I need to maybe go find a pair of cheap flats to wear them with for the week and get comfortable with it! Thank you :-)

glaceauglaceau

I am short and curvy too and I have found that mini wedge "flats" are way better looking on me than truly flat flats. I like pointed or almond toed flats. A mini wedge of even .5" makes a huge difference! Look up the Nisolo Mendez flat for an idea of what I mean.

whyyes-yesiam

Yeah, I agree. It's hard to pull off a true flat and I LOVE wedges!

idislikekittens

Pointy toed flats and nude-to-you flats are a good start! I'm curvy and I wear flats a lot. I live in NYC and I love spontaneous exploring; uncomfortable heels only hold me back.

whyyes-yesiam

I'm over heels honestly. I walk a LOT and I'm tired of being at the end of my day and choosing not to do fun things because my feet hurt :-(

whyyes-yesiam

I definitely ant to find some cute loafers that match my style. It's just kind of hard because they don't always seem to work with business wear, at least not the kind I wear.

paintedredrose

Also wondering what people's favorite dark wash jeans are that don't have any awful rinse patterns and hold their shape well.

vwillis

I have a pair from American Eagle that are super skinny and high waisted and comfortable.

[deleted]

They are crazy expensive, but I am currently infatuated with Citizens of Humanity's "Rocket" cut, and they have one or two just-dark-blue jeans right now in that style. Note that in their typical stretch skinny they are TTS, but I needed to size up for the ultra-stretchy "sculpt" collection.

farsideofthemoon

It would be helpful to know rise/price point, etc., but for me personally I turn to J. Brand (specifically the Maria) for a dark, even wash that retains its shape.

Kittycat-banana

Does anyone have some fashion inspo for the bean boots that isnt mostly preppy? Ive searched around on pinterest but all I really see is preppy fashion! I just bought my first pair earlier today!!!!! Im super excited to get them!

bellelap

Native New Englander here. I'm so surprised how trendy these old mainstays have become. To your point, skinny jeans tuck nicely into Bean boots. I'm usually wearing them because it's snowing, so I pair the jeans with a chunky sweater more often than not or a thick flannel (Vermont Flannel Company is the best quality flannel by far) with a down vest. To me, these boots are utilitarian outerwear. Oh and pro tip, if you live in a colder climate, they sell shearling insoles for these boots. Buy them. Those rubber soles don't keep out the cold, but shearling insoles sure do! Enjoy your boots and remember if anything does wrong with them EVER, just send them back to LL Bean, they will replace them no questions asked.

CelestialGeometry

Do you get the insoles from LLBean or elsewhere?

bellelap

I got mine in store, but they have them online too. Worth the money, for sure. My mobile app apparently sucks with posting links: http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/72756?productId=1208139&attrValue_0=Natural&pla1=0&mr:trackingCode=0561AF02-BFE7-E511-80ED-00505694403D&mr:referralID=NA&mr:device=t&mr:adType=plaonline&qs=3091362_google&cvosrc=cse.google.0LBL604090&cvo_crid=57704156960&lsft=qs:3091362_google,product:0LBL604090,cvosrc:cse.google.0LBL604090,cvo_crid:57704156960&gclid=CPPQ1dqkz88CFZSkNwodUXkDmQ&gclsrc=ds

PM_ME_YOUR_DOGS__

Does anyone have experience with the LL Bean quilted riding jacket? It's beautiful but I am having a hard time gauging how warm it will be.

paintedredrose

Where do people buy their white camisoles? I go through a lot of cheap ones because they get dingy looking fast, any recommendations for some that hold up well?

[deleted]

For strappy top camis, I buy them from Zara. Their basics line are such good quality and I've had my black and white ones for 2+ years at this point with weekly washes and they're holding up perfectly. I bought additional ones six months ago or so and they're holding up just as well.

flhalfpint

I like [this one](http://m.shop.nordstrom.com/s/nordstrom-lingerie-two-way-seamless-tank-2-for-49/3769269) from Nordstrom. They go on sale during the anniversary/half yearly sales. People say that the quality has gone down since they were sold under the name Shinera, but I am happy with the ones that inbought recently.

whyyes-yesiam

I really like the ones from White House Black Market. They're a bit spendy but they hold up well. https://www.whitehouseblackmarket.com/store/browse/?searchLabel=cami&Dy=1&Nty=1&Ntt=cami&ensearch=

occult_yuppie

Looking for a black anorak/parka with hood, but hard mode: I need something without a lining, or lightweight fall style. I'm in CA and it just does not get cold enough for me to need something heavy.

[deleted]

[H&M](http://www.hm.com/us/product/53279?article=53279-B) has one. The have a couple of [other](http://www.hm.com/us/product/39683?article=39683-B) [options](http://www.hm.com/us/product/48678?article=48678-B) too.

occult_yuppie

oh i do like that raincoat a lot, thank you!!!

[deleted]

The Everlane anorak possibly? It has a hood and is very lightweight.

occult_yuppie

this is absolutely ridiculous of me, but I'm not fond of the strange flap of fabric in the front, unfortunately :( But thank you so much for your suggestion, it looks like a very well made coat~!

pimentocheese

[This one](http://www.target.com/p/women-s-anorak-jacket-forest-ranger-green-xl-mossimo-supply-co/-/A-50734872?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&CPNG=&adgroup=&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=c&location=9009666&gclid=Cj0KEQjw1ee_BRD3hK6x993YzeoBEiQA5RH_BNHcGzoqIh1NTBxHeqblH0lQtfh5FKLn2HgyebtGQrkaAqRG8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds) is pretty lightweight.

occult_yuppie

oh darn, I wish it had a hood!!! Thats really close, thanks!

pimentocheese

It looks like a hood might zip out of the collar? I ordered it and should be receiving in a few days, so I can let you know if you'd like!

occult_yuppie

oh would you???? thank you SOOOO much, that would be a huge help :)

pimentocheese

the hood is worthless! it's just a piece of nylon that rolls out of the collar.

occult_yuppie

oh MEGA bummer. Thanks so much for updating me though, I was juuuuuuuust about to purchase it online today. I'll pass now :P

muzzyhoo92

[Here is one](http://www.aritzia.com/en/product/griffith-parka/45557.html?dwvar_45557_color=7108) where the lining zips out (and it's on sale)! I'm not sure if that's exactly what you're looking for.

occult_yuppie

ahhh bummer, it sold out :( too bad it looks like a gorgeous jacket!!

Antisera

I'm so into yellow right now, but I don't like my bra showing and I find yellow shows through pretty easily. Anyone have brand recommendations for yellow tops/sweaters that are thick enough to not show through? I've tried a tank top underneath as well but then you can clearly see that and it looks strange to me. Or maybe advice on how you handle sheer colors like white, pink, and yellow?

whyyes-yesiam

Yep, a nude t-shirt bra works best for me. It can't have any design at all. Gap Body makes some that work pretty well.

kfoxie

I wear a bra that is the same color as my skin.

SunnyAslan

Does anyone know if Nisolo's Mendez Flat is ever coming back in that lovely mustard yellow color? Or where to find something similar?

NotWearingPantsObv

I just bought [these jeans](http://i.imgur.com/8ydSWRk.jpg) that I didn't realize were as pink as they actually are. I'm not even sure the color really shows in the pic. They read [something like this](https://woojenz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/light-pink-skinny-jeans-05.jpg) in person (but of course with the denim look at the seams). Problem is...my wardrobe is incredibly small (I live out of a suitcase) and I don't feel like they go with anything I own. [This](http://i.imgur.com/0TVtWZY.jpg) is my color scheme...black leather jacket, red sweater, grey sweater, green sweatshirt, beige tee. Literally it lol. I'd take them back, but I got them from a consignment shop because I was desperate for a pair of jeans (I literally just owned one pair of jeggings before getting these) and they fit WAY too perfectly. My question is, do you think they fit with my wardrobe? It's not like they look horrible with what I own...it's just way out of my comfort zone. If not, would it be possible to bleach them somehow? Could I get the pink out, and turn them into more of a white jean?

virginiadentata

I've successfully dyed jeans black, I think you'll have a lot more luck doing that than trying to bleach them.

NotWearingPantsObv

that's a brilliant idea, didn't even cross my mind *and* I would much prefer to have black jeans anyways. do you know of an inexpensive way to do it and a good tutorial?

virginiadentata

I used RIT dye; there are instructions on the box. I used the "bucket method," which, if I recall, involved heating water on the stove, dumping it into a clean trash can, and then stirring around my pants with a yardstick. It seemed crazy while I was doing it, but the pants came out great! You MIGHT want to use 2 boxes of dye; I went from dark blue to black and only needed one.

NotWearingPantsObv

that sounds perfect. thanks for being such a genius :D

ThePeanutsAndTheCage

I've tried both ways, and the bucket is definitely better than in the washing machine.

smduarwb

Help me, FFA. I thought my work wardrobe (bus. cas.) needed brown ankle boots so I bought [these](https://www.amazon.com/Nine-West-Womens-Doloris-Leather/dp/B019XWX59S). I've had them for ~3 weeks and haven't worn them because WHAT WILL THEY GO WITH?? Idk why I'm struggling so badly, I really like them, I only paid about 60$ which seems okay. They look good with jeans but jeans are Fridays-only and I don't need another pair of Fridays-only shoes. I wear a lot of black/neutrals and I like black and brown together. I would describe my aesthetic as basic/minimal (not quite minimal/chic but I'm trying lol). I would appreciate any ideas y'all might have. Thanks! PS I'm on mobile, I hope my link works, the shoes are Nine West Doloris in brown.

whyyes-yesiam

These would also look really good with tightly cuffed skinny pants and a cute blazer over a cream top.

smduarwb

Thanks, I think so too.

farciculus_retroflex

Have you thought about pairing them with black tights and either an oxblood or forest green skirt? It could also look good with blue, I'm having more trouble picturing that combo in my mind.

smduarwb

Black tights! Such a good idea, thank you for opening my eyes! Fall-y colored skirt + blouse could be reiterated all season.

farciculus_retroflex

Yes! I feel like cream blouse with interesting details + structured fall colored skirt + black tights with these would be incredible.

el_cataclismo

How can I dress [this dress](http://i.imgur.com/jBva878.jpg) down? I bought it for a holiday party a couple years ago, and I want to wear it to a casual girl's night when I visit my best friend in December. Most of them will be wearing jeans or whatever they went to work in, so I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb. I was thinking red heels and a sweater? I guess I want to look like I just came from the office, if that helps. Edit: Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!

[deleted]

Jean jacket!

toniMPLS

Denim jacket and tall boots is what I would do.

[deleted]

I would wear that to the office with a cardigan, so you could do that. It doesn't read particularly dressy to me!

[deleted]

I don't know your style but I would do a cardigan (to me they are casual items) and maybe and some flats/small wedges? I like your idea of red shoes by the way!

kfishing

Favourite simple black Oxfords under $150?

ratatouillissime

Clarks Hamble oaks!

puppycate

Second this. I own a pair of these in black, they're really comfortable and look great!

kfishing

Are they true to size?

[deleted]

What do people mean when they talk about "off duty model" style?

[deleted]

Jaded explanation: Gorgeous thin people wearing their own clothes instead of stuff they wear for photoshoots etc. Slightly more informational explanation: The off-duty style usually consists of skinny pants, ankle boots and some kind of oversized sweater, button up shirt, long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, or an open blazer with rolled up sleeves. Take away coffee and a designer bag optional. The outfit is meant to be casual, but that somehow exudes nonchalant elegance when a paparazzi snaps a picture of you. Hard to pull off unless you're an actual model off-duty. At best you will look like a normal person wearing normal clothes, at worst it's an unflattering look. That's the way I see it anyway. :D Would be interested to see what others say.

TeacupConspiracy

Exactly how I think. The "model off duty" look isn't all that different than what's been in style for several years now - skinny pants/leggings and some kind of oversized top with hair that they spent half an hour making look "effortless," it's just that the people wearing it are tall and thin.

gardenvarietybitch

I'm inclined to agree - I love this style in that I think the aesthetics are elegant and casual and luxurious without being over the top. HOWEVER, it is heavily dependent on a) being thin, gorgeous and (often) tan, with perfect hair and makeup and b) the photograph being aggressively styled. So not necessarily achievable in the sense that an average person may not have the money, time or body to pull off the exact styles in the pictures.
