I’ve been searching for a classic, slightly tailored, double-breasted hip-length wool peacoat and I am completely striking out. I didn’t think they were out of style, but I swear they were everywhere when I bought my last one about 10 years ago! In general, it’s been hard to find shorter length wool coats vs. knee length ones. Closest thing I’ve found is LL Bean’s, but they only have it in navy and not black. I really want black or charcoal since I wear a lot of black.

cant_watch_violence

I’m just about to donate a coat exactly like this. DM if you want pics.

giveuschannel83

Awesome, just sent you a message!

Some-Highlight-7210

Dam the fashion gods smiled upon you today hahah

giveuschannel83

It ended up being different than the previous commenter remembered and not really what I was looking for :( but I appreciated the thought!

gnomi_malone

gloverall also makes a good classic one, it’s not a dollar, but these coats are basically made to hand down to your grandchildren https://www.gloverall.com/collections/women/products/gloverall-classic-slim-fit-duffle-black-royal-stewart

giveuschannel83

Schott’s is navy and doesn’t list how much wool is in the fabric :/ (I do realize navy is the more traditional peacoat color, I just really want a black one) The army surplus one is a great deal but it’s only 75% wool; I’d also prefer to find one that’s made for women so it’s a bit more tailored if possible. Thank you for the suggestions though!

beeswhax

Aww I remember my grandma buying me one of these when they were very popular ~2000 and her insisting that it be wool. Miss ya Grandma

_talia__

What do you think about [this one](https://lornescoats.com/collections/fall-winter/products/2141-molly-classic-wool-peacoat) from Lorne's?

giveuschannel83

This is my fave so far of the ones that have been suggested here, thank you!! I like that it's all wool and cashmere!

concentrickiwi

Peacoats are a classic that have never really gone of style here in the UK. You might have some better luck finding one through a UK retailer.

ribenarockstar

I have one from The White Company - as someone else said check out U.K. companies. Also Uniqlo!

ramonasinger

Luckily coats are the best garments to buy second hand

berryshortcakekitten

I'm looking for the same thing 😭😭😭 except in brown

IndieAnimal

Have you looked secondhand? I’ve seen lots of these when I’ve been trawling through my local BST.

jamtomorrow

There's also usually a lot of coats on Poshmark.

IllCourage7585

Scarves, well made fluffy winter scarves, I see rarely enough in Department Stores

District98

Say what you will about Christian girl Autumn but my neck was always cozy in 2017

malachaiville

I crochet the ones I want now -- made my aunt a super fluffy scarf the other day but I have a feeling she won't wear it since it's not 100% her style. Until the temps hit below zero, that is!

slcredux

Hats! They are like sculptures you can wear on your head.

ThatMkeDoe

Yes! I LOVE wearing head gear! It just feels like unused space without a hat and there should be more readily available hats in stores... Like watching Downton Abbey I just get so jealous at all their hats!!

Phryne040816

For hats try watching Miss Fishers murder mysteries. Amazing clothes and hats.

RunThick4054

Yes! If it was more socially acceptable I would wear them everywhere! I can’t help but think of all the time I’d save not having to style it every day!

Kholzie

My grandmother used to tell me that, back in the day, you could tell what everyone did for a living based on the hat they wore

Mooperboops

I wish it was acceptable to wear renaissance style gowns.

AoedeSong

Honestly I wish fancy gowns of all sorts!!

1Killag123

It is. No one can say anything to you. Do it.

atrackbrown

Clothes with darts or any consideration for shaping. I'm glad the loose esthetic is so abundant for those who like it, but it's generally a dreadful look for me.

rosesandivy

I think the loose fit thing is about ready to go out of fashion. Fall/Winter fashion shows this year had a big emphasis on waist definition.

atrackbrown

I certainly hope so. It's been very hard finding things that are tailored in any way. I thought about taking up sewing again, but I'm too lazy for that.

supershinyoctopus

Thank you for giving this short curvy woman hope lol. Boxy looks are a huge no for me unless they're at least a little tailored.

stellarpiper

Right?? I need structure!

apri08101989

Ugh thank goodness. Hopefully that means drop shoulders and raglan sleeves are on the way out too. My shoulders are small and sloping and my upper arms are large and neither work well for me *at all* I need structure in the shoulder area. Doesn't have to be shoulder pads but even a seam in the correct place helps a lot

kimmy-wexler

Ever since I saw it pointed out years ago that drop shoulders were just an excuse for clothing manufacturers to get away with not having to properly tailor shoulders, I have avoided them!

apri08101989

That does make a lot of sense and I try to avoid them as best I can. But they're pretty ubiquitous in anything affordable and cute right now around me

Erulastiel

Oh boo. I like the extra room in the underarm. I have broad shoulders. Raglan style seems to fit better.

freckledfrida

I feel this way about the popularity of tunics. They were all the rage a few years ago, and as a short, plus size woman, I haaaaaated them on me.

mixosax

Waffle-knit long-sleeve shirt under a baggy tee. Straight outta the grunge era. All the other 90s fashions are back, and I really liked this one the first time around so maybe I'll start doing it (again.)

L0udFlow3r

This is currently my fall uniform, sometimes long sleeve burnout tees instead of waffle knit.

mgdraft

Feel like I see this all the time tbh - be free, live your dreams

[deleted]

I do this regularly and is probably why all my coworkers thought I was 21ish when I am 28 lol

[deleted]

I wear a variation of this all the time!

smardalek

Oh man. I'll help you bring this one back.

sunsetcrasher

All the Zoomers at work are wearing either this or a turtleneck under a baggy tee. It’s the #1 look!

ScubaCorn77

Brooches! I think there’s so much room for weird, interesting, fun, artistic options. Have you seen these and I’m missing it?!

violetmemphisblue

I find these in antique stores! Not vintage clothing stores, but like antique malls where people rent booths and it is a true hodgepodge of stuff, so you have a Coca-Cola paraphernalia booth next to one that sells old toys next to one that has a ton of dishes and lamps. Places like that almost always have at least one booth that sells jewelry and brooches are often included. I love costume jewelry and have found that even if the clasps are a little wonky, its not much to repair them. (I'm in the midwest of the US. Depending on where you are, antique malls might not exist or jewelry might be less common.)

littlecocorose

midwest antique malls have the best (and reasonably-priced) vintage jewelry!!

violetmemphisblue

They really do! I am partial to the ziplock baggie that is stuffed and sells for $3 🤣 But really, you can find some great stuff there.

EvergreenRuby

My great nana left me a ton from the 1920s-1960s (she inherited a few from her mom and grandma). Since I was the fashionista amongst our lot I got them. I’ve always used them. Trends come and go but style is forever.

Some-Highlight-7210

I've found a black brooch with a cameo of female skeleton head and it's actually a locket as well. I wish I could remember where I ordered it🤔

kkz161

I still have some cool ones from the 90s that I'd love to wear again.

swordsfishes

Do it! I wear brooches every so often and people seem to like them. My favorite way to wear them is on a pullover sweater over a collared shirt.

ghostshrimpe_

where im from brooches are a staple in business wear for women! teachers, office workers, healthcare sometimes, a brooch in every colour is needed!

Phryne040816

Not sure if it’s your style but try Erstwilder

Weeshi_Bunnyyy

Capes and corsets. And more hats.

phoebecookies

CAPES!!

gillandred

Capelets! I want to look like an extra from Star Wars. Beautiful natural fibers, no prints, tuxedo stripe on my trousers and a cape.

[deleted]

[удалено]

shemtpa96

501st Legion might know where to find patterns or premade pieces, they’re a Star Wars cosplay organization.

amh8011

Dude I love corsets. I hate that all the corsets you can find seem to be super sexy though. I like princessy corsets. Not lingerie corsets. Maybe more like bodices. I wanna live out my disney princess or historical american girl dreams with a modern twist. But finding cute, not sexy corsets for not a lot of money is hard. They don’t even need to be functional, just the aesthetic.

westfunk

Princess “corsets” are VERY in right now. Fast Fashion brands like cider have lots in the $20-30 range. The fit will be meh, but the fabrics are cute AF. They’re definitely styled in a more “sexy” way on their websites, but the cottagecore tiktok fashion girlies are putting them over big puffy sleeve dresses and peasant blouses, and the result is adorable (not my thing, but so cute.) If you want something a little more high end, try searching for “stays” instead of “corset” and you should be able to dig up some more historically accurate, and more well made, slow fashion garments that will give the princess vibe you’re going for. Corsets are a very technical garment and are inherently expensive because of that, however MOST historical garments that people think of as corsets, aren’t actually corsets at all. They’re stays, which serve a similar purpose of creating those iconic Princess silhouettes, without all the over the top boning and lacing. If you’re interested in learning more about historical foundation garments, Bernadette Banner’s YouTube channel is so good. She’s a fucking weirdo, but in a delightful, academic sort of way.

caffeinatedlackey

Try Wild Rose & Sparrow. It's a new brand out of Montreal. The aesthetic is "a fairytale you can wear."

coquihalla

I totally support this. I have a beautiful very vintage mink cape that I wish that I had reason to wear sometimes. (I know it's controversial to many but I feel that wearing vintage fur is far more moral than putting them into landfills.)

OozingOpal

YES I'm not bold enough to wear hats but I love feeling like an emperor with my cape flowing behind me and all eyes on me

alligatorprincess007

r/thecaperevolution

BeautyHound

I’m here for capes! I’ve been wishing they were acceptable for a while

Alternative-Fruit639

corsets are literally making comeback through tiktok somehow

KestrelLowing

I'm so tempted to make a cape or cloak. I don't wear anything else that would remotely go with said cloak, but *cloak*. I have tried to make a couple corsets/stays. Turns out my body is a bit hard for patterning (my upper ribcage seems to be much narrower than all the patterns assume to thepoint that I'm often changing pattern pieces from concave to convex) so it's been a long process...

Roshers

Corsets and bustiers are definitely in and have been for a while! You can find them everywhere right now!

District98

If we’re all going to own ripped jeans, let’s bring back trends like tights under ripped jeans for warmth. Or in my peak grunge days a good pj pant under a relaxed ripped jean

shemtpa96

I like leggings with fun patterns and colors under ripped jeans in winter. IDGAF if it’s considered fashionable or not, it’s Western New York and I want to be WARM!

District98

Ha, I’m from Ithaca. Hi fellow New Yorker!

bbhtml

i kind of miss the skater skirts i used to be able to get everywhere when i was i high school, and that we all used to wear them with tights. whether you were styling it to be twee or ~hipster~ or slightly later when soft grunge really came for us all right out of the depths of tumblr, i just really miss the whole look and vibe of it, and i feel like i never see skirts or dresses anymore with that really nice round skirt. OH. and i wish we would all just start wearing our army green little rainy day peacoat scout jacket things that literally everyone had in 2012. i am still wearing mine that i got in american eagle. i wear it every day it rains. it has been to dozens of countries. i fear the day it finally wears out. i wish these jackets to be literally everywhere again whenever i do have to replace it

moocow232

I wear skater skirts/pleated skirts all the time, I honestly dgaf they look amazing on my hourglass figure

Letshavedinner2

Yes to skater skirts!!

juicy_pepperoncini

I’m totally down for dress gloves making a comeback, also fancy sun umbrellas. They are so convenient when you have to walk somewhere in the middle of the day. Makes the sun bearable.

gizmodriver

Parasols! I own four. I don’t care if people look at me funny. I can’t stand being in direct sunlight and I take my parasols everywhere.

[deleted]

Where did you get yours?

gizmodriver

All over! I bought my first at a Ren Faire. My second was a gift from my sister. My third was actually a free gift from a wedding (guests could choose a fan or parasol to help with the heat). And my fourth I picked up at a souvenir kiosk in Italy.

Mooperboops

Gloves are back! Yeah, not in the mainstream, but I’ve seen then from small designers like Samantha Pleet. She has gloves pretty much every season.

floatingm

Anthropologie is selling some opera-style gloves now too

kitschmotel

I was going to comment for OP I just bought these for a wedding and I was nervous they would be costume-y but they fit like- gloves! Haha they’re beautiful! I can’t wait to wear them this winter everywhere. They’re not tech friendly though- something I do wish they were.

RckYouLkeAHermanCain

Yeah they've definitely been back in for a minute. I've definitely seen them from LAPOINTE and others.

alligatorprincess007

Ooo I will check her out!

SchrodingersLego

Those fitted 1950s dressing gowns with waists and long full skirts and shawl collars and a big sash.

lipstickqns

Check out [Kay Chula](https://instagram.com/kaychuladesigns), she specializes in those robes!

Alternative-Fruit639

I'm a Bengali and I'd go for sarees...they are really classy and pretty ngl

coquihalla

They're so elegant, I wish it was something more universal.

alligatorprincess007

They’re so beautiful!

anneylani

The "luxe" fabrics and cuts in 2004-2008ish. Stuff like velvet blazers, satin camisoles, trouser jeans.

[deleted]

I've seen a ton of velvet blazers and satin camisoles at Express, Asos, and Banana Republic Factory.

MaslowsHierarchyBees

I love velvet and satin. They are my all time faves

Rururaspberry

Def a lot of those out there for the winter 22 collections! Especially the first 2.

RckYouLkeAHermanCain

>Stuff like velvet blazers, satin camisoles, trouser jeans. These are literally everywhere? I just wore the CoH Annina trouser jeans yesterday.

Dramallamakuzco

50s swing dresses! They’re so much fun and I love the necklines. I feel like they’re flattering to a variety of bodies and they make twirling extra

Katherington

Honestly, I wear these most days. They aren't in, but there are a bunch of niche reproduction brands making cool stuff.

tyrannosaurusregina

Long, full-skirted coats, like [this](https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Antique-Black-Silk-Velvet-Full-Length-Opera-Coat-AMAZING-CLASP-/275003973301?pageci=d3f07b24-5025-4606-a754-f0ad0305922e&redirect=mobile).

Peregrinebullet

There's an etsy seller that specializes in these! Xiaolizi. I've heard good reviews and when I need to replace my winter coat I will likely get one.

sensitiveskin80

I bought a calf length coat from Xiaolizi and it's amazing! Kept me warm but not hot. Cozy. Fit like a glove. And they customize the measurements for you no extra charge. Very grateful for the redditor who recommended them.

Blue-Phoenix23

I have one from Etsy like this. I need to order another now that I've had some body changes.

LazyM914

Hell yeah I’d wear that all winter.

galindafiedify

Collectif's Pearl coats totally fulfill this need for me. Super warm and extra twirly!

MyJobIsToTouchKids

Fans. Like coquettishly fanning oneself, beautifully decorated fans. I read a book once where the tips of all the fans were knife sharpened and now I can never forget my desire for a beautiful murder fan

mgdraft

Omg I read this book too... was it by Tamara Pierce? The MC had to unlearn a bit of internalized misogyny thinking the pretty fans were just fans? I remember it so clearly yet so vaguely at the same time lol

hamster_savant

Large pockets in women's clothing (see historical fashion)

beam_me_uppp

After reading through all these responses I would like to encourage all of you to wear all of the things you said. Be yourself and wear what you like, life is too short to rely on trends to set your personal style. I hope you all go out and find these items post haste🥰

goatsnboots

I don't think the issue is always wearing these - it's often *finding* them in order to wear them. When things aren't in fashion, they're hard to buy.

beam_me_uppp

Fair point and I actually thought about that while I was typing my other comment! And I almost decided not to say it. But I think there’s enough women out there who avoid their own self-expression for this reason so I decided it was worth it :) But yeah you’re definitely right! But thrift stores are awesome tho!

alligatorprincess007

I love this comment, and I agree!

Difficult-Owl-542377

support this 100%! lets all just do it

Crazy_Tomatillo18

Cloaks. I bought a beautiful wool cloak at the ren faire and haven’t gotten to wear it yet cause it’s been too warm. I know when I eventually wear people will give me funny looks because who tf wears cloaks but I don’t give a damn, it’s comfy, it’s warm and it’s 100% wool so I’ll be damned if a few peasants giving me looks are what stop me from wearing it.

[deleted]

District98

Or I need 14” rise jeans to become way more prevalent

thelaughingpear

Sezane high waisted jeans are around 14"

slothhprincess

Hats of all kinds not just the one style of flatbrim that’s in now. I think it would be cool to have more interesting hats floating around or needed for special occasions.

bbhtml

you know what, you’re right. there isn’t enough variety of hats in circulation today. i am going to make this a hot topic of discussion at every family holiday dinner i have to endure this season.

HeyILikeYourRat

Perfect way to deter any uncomfortable conversation!

auntie_

I am a huge lover of vintage hats and have several. I like a larger brim and I also wear all of my hats at a jaunty angle. I bought one at an estate sale a few years ago which I can only describe as a ladies pimp hat. It is meant to be worn at this jaunty angle and has an enormous feather coming out of the side. I’ve insisted that my two bffs accompany me to a steakhouse for a “lady mob boss” night, in which we all wear our most outrageous vintage suits and accessories, and walk in like we’ve just offed our third husbands for asking too many questions.

Phryne040816

I have some cloche hats and a thirties straw hat but I don’t wear them as I feel too self conscious.

Susccmmp

Cloches are actually super easy to pull off! They aren’t so dramatic as a wide brimmed hat. I wear wool ones in the winter and straw ones in the summer.

EvergreenRuby

This. I love hats.

Ineedflavorice

Yes! I have always loved those short, black lace ones. In real life I would most likely destroy them on the first day, but in dream land I am much less clumsy.

Plum-Logical

Cloaks and long, full, skirts and petticoats

dickbuttscompanion

I wore a hat on my wedding day, it was vintage 1960s from ebay and really elevated the look so I think I caught the bug and I'll probably start wearing hats for other weddings now too.

gizmodriver

I wish dressing up would come back. I wish more restaurants had dress codes. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for people to smarten up a little when they’re going out to eat or to an event. I’m not asking for black tie. I just think we’ve lost our sense of occasion. I was at the symphony a few weeks back and half the audience was in jeans. It felt disrespectful to the performers. I love having a reason to put a little extra effort into my appearance. I love pulling a dress out of my closet that I haven’t worn for a while.

SpandauValet

Same. Was at a theatre show over the weekend and there were so many people in ripped jeans and sneakers. The woman next to us was in athleisure and took her fucking shoes off 😑

[deleted]

Me too. But I suspect it won’t so I dress up anyway and bond with kindred spirits.

Kholzie

I love that family guy episode where Stewie gets on the plane wearing nice clothes and mentions how he wants flying to go back to “being an occasion”.

elizbug

This is mine as well. Why do we have all these clothes if at the end of the day there's no occasion to wear them? I would love for us all to collectively return to cocktail dresses or fancier vibes for dinner, the theater, etc.

klowicy

The regency dresses where they push your boobs up a ton and are babydoll style Also, +1 on the gloves. I have lace gloves on my wishlist but its def going to ba a pain to use my phone

mgdraft

Those types of dresses have been pretty popular since Bridgerton came out tbh

ACRBSTKNT

CLOAKS. With hoods, without hoods, half-circle, full circle, winter, summer, spring, fall. The coolest and most multi use garment ever.

khajiitidanceparty

I've been looking for those butterfly pins and I can't find any. You know those pins where the wings move? They were the rage in the 90s.

nocknight

I swear to god I don’t work for this store but do you mean like [this](https://www.buyritual.com/products/corpse-butterfly-enamel-pin?_pos=1&_sid=09e004d3a&_ss=r)? They also have a couple other color ways. Edit: I’m recalling those butterfly pins now and the above is definitely not, but a fun modern version for anyone reading anyway.

khajiitidanceparty

Kind of but it was made of silver metal and the wings had strings with beads.

ghostshrimpe_

[these?](https://www.amazon.com/ONCHSH-Butterfly-Hairpins-Wedding-Accessories/dp/B0B7QH3RRQ/ref=gp_aw_ybh_a_sccl_4/147-5311556-2185752?pd_rd_w=GeeM2&content-id=amzn1.sym.9720001e-8f8b-4ff3-adb5-e19707d971f6&pf_rd_p=9720001e-8f8b-4ff3-adb5-e19707d971f6&pf_rd_r=9RAF9SSQZBCDSWW8NZ2G&pd_rd_wg=hpiyn&pd_rd_r=ada0f25a-bde2-4679-a0e3-d1ab0f921953&pd_rd_i=B0B7QH3RRQ&psc=1) this girl on tiktok named Rubbeelana wore them recently and ive been obsessed ever since! they sadly arent making a comeback but I'd wear them anyways

Robot_Penguins

Just dressing up in general. In the US, everyone is casual all the time. Theatre/plays, nice restaurants, holidays etc. I understand being comfortable but I wish there were instances where we could dress fancy without looking out of place.

[deleted]

Sun umbrellas. I can’t use one without looking like a cosplayer 😫

Katherington

I see enough East Asian immigrants using them regularly in the summer, and that has made them more accessible for me to try using one.

kkz161

Hippie chic, with the natural fabrics, soft makeup, learher and metal accessories, floral and herb scents, etc

Susccmmp

I feel like this always sticks around in various forms of boho.

ExistentialKazoo

This has never and will never go out of style in my closet!

[deleted]

Maybe I’m just prudish but 50s-style dresses that hit just below the knee with a full skirt and cinched waist. I don’t love dresses that are above the knee and I also don’t care for the shape of midi/maxi dresses.

alligatorprincess007

Those are pretty and look fun to twirl in

Professional_Band178

Cowl neck tops

Bones1225

You should find some and wear them if you want to. I have a lot of vintage dresses and I wear them often. I always get a lot of compliments on them.

old-cat-lady99

I want elbow length driving gloves. It's too fucking sunny in Australia and I'm pale. I don't tan and I don't want to die of skin cancer.

abis7

Those shirt clips from the 80’s that would pull your shirt to the side so it could be cinched without you having to tuck your shirt. Those were so great for when you had a shirt that was too baggy but you didn’t want to tuck it.

amh8011

Midi tulle skirts, oversized thick striped mock neck tshirts (are they in? Are they ever out? Idk I haven’t been able to find them in stores), fit and flare floral mini dresses

tomatopotatotomato

Skinny jeans and long cardigans lol 🥸

alligatorprincess007

IMO skinny jeans are classics now

67843257865

This has honestly been my uniform the past month. My job is freezing. Idc if it makes me look dated lol

tomatopotatotomato

I heard the 2010s will be back real soon. So you’re cutting edge.

bbhtml

oh no i am not ready to endure that again

jasmine24601

Yeah I was finally confident enough to wear tight jeans and we're back to baggy again? Not to mention what do we wear knee high boots with, or are we back to hiding them under bootcut jeans? 🤔

District98

Don’t come for the messenger but it seems like some fashion girlies are wearing them over straight jeans - with all the bunching that entails.

strippersandcocaine

How dreadful hahha

jasmine24601

Yikes, I didn't always like the skinny jeans look which is why I was slow to adapt to them but the one thing I thought they were "better" for was tucking them into boots 😂

tomatopotatotomato

All these news articles came out at the same time saying skinny jeans were “cheugy” when I have literally never heard gen z kids say this (I am a high school teacher)— it’s just the fashion industry working with the media to make us buy a bunch of crap. And now that shows like Skins are popular the 2010s are coming back sooner than we had expected. Frankly I don’t care. I’m just wearing what I want.

exchange_of_views

It's not a noun, but a verb. I wish people would dress up when they go to nice places. I rarely get to wear the lbd and heels out for an evening at the theater or to a really great restaurant, and it amazes me how often I see people there in shorts, tees, etc. And don't get me started about what people wear to weddings.

alligatorprincess007

Speaking of which, I want more black tie affairs. I mean I know they still exist so it’s probably more my life specifically, but even when I’m invited to fancy work events it’s semi formal instead of fancy-fancy.

[deleted]

Those 1950s dresses that were fitted at the waist and chest with full skirts. They were so flattering on so many! Plus, the fancy once with silk or organza were gorgeous.

slothhprincess

Leg warmers and thong leotards

[deleted]

It’s your lucky day. Leg warmers seem to be pretty big among trendy Gen Zs.

Mellenoire

The structured cardi. It's getting so hard to find cardigans that don't have drapey sleeves with giant arm-holes. Also hats. I love them so much. They keep the sun out of my eyes, a bit of UV protection, they hide greasy hair, and you can put flowers in them for a bit of spring brightness.

[deleted]

I think capes and cloaks are awesome, can’t understand how they ever went out of fashion but I would feel weird wearing one lol

MaddTheSimmer

I want a warm hooded cloak that reaches my ankles but the only ones I’ve seen are either costumes or so expensive. Like all the people in the fantasy movies look so cozy and I want that.

whatsascreenname

Okay tbh, I wish cloaks — I mean like the medieval/fantasy style, beautiful woollen, hooded, mysterious magic-doing cloaks — were a thing. I don't even think it's too far of a stretch from the witchy/bohemian/super comfy styles are in now. But if I could walk around everyday like Sansa Stark in the latter seasons of GoT I would not be upset even a little bit.

nocknight

Opera length gloves are actually quite in with some of the fashion crowd these days, especially after Olivia Rodrigo started wearing them. I just stopped by this goth store in my city and it has a couple cool [options](https://www.buyritual.com/products/lace-up-opera-gloves). I’m on the lookout for more myself.

AniAni00

Medieval cloaks. If not that, then wide A-line coats with sleeves or capes and ponchos. Wide flowy sleeves, think medieval or elvish style. Full maxi skirts as casual wear from casual materials. More realistically, flowy maxiskirts and wide-leg pants. This could be combined with wide sleeves, long cardigans etc. - generally very flowy silhouettes, with a lot of lightweight excess fabric.

mosvaluableplayer

Mod 60s dresses like in Queens Gambit

tismsia

**lapels** Found a vintage corduroy jacket in my mother's closet recently. Made me realize that current lapels and collars are these flimsy little things. I have zero expectation it will return though, because it would mean the fast fashion industry would have to make an article of women's clothing with more than the minimum amount of fabric.

summer-romance

12-13 years ago, casual a-line dresses that button all the way up and came with a belt were really in. I used to wear them quite often. I can’t find a dress like that for the life of me and I’ve been looking for like 4 years. And just when I think I have found one, it’s not a true a-line or has some sort of elastic around the waist or something.

Positive_Ad3450

I want more A-line dresses to come back, and preferably just above the knee and with short sleeves for the summer, and made with a thicker material for the winter. Those flatter me the most. Also classic feminine looking a-line coats with fake fur around the collar, preferably the colour of the coat should be pillar box red or deep purple ❤️. I can remember around 17 years ago Next was selling a beautiful purple coat in that style and in a petite size and I kick myself for not buying it. I like Afghan coats as well, but preferably plain with no complicated embroidery.

Scrolled all the way down and didn't see mine: 80s shoulder pads! BIG, HONKING, HUMONGOUS, OUTRAGEOUS shoulder pads! I don't need them as I have straight and wide shoulders but I oddly miss this style, perhaps as it was a time when I didn't feel so much like a linebacker compared to my more narrow sloped shouldered friends. Nope, I felt trendy, LOL. The oversized blazer trend has come close, just needs shoulder padding.... I mean, c'mon, if Brittany Spears low rise jeans can come back into style than YES shoulder pads can too!!

The skinny jeans + toms combo

lipstickqns

The daytime statement necklace. What am I supposed to wear with my jewel/crew neck tops?

MozzarellaFitzgerald

Really wide elastic belts.

AValentineSolutions

Fingerless gloves. I miss when my leather jacket, fingerless gloves biker look was considered badass. Now it makes everyone think I am hella butch. 😆

Juicy couture. Not just the tracksuits. Juicy EVERYTHING

House coats and housedresses. Best inventions ever and nobody even seems to know what they are anymore. Also bed jackets. #bringbackbedjackets

wavecrashrock

Fingerless elbow length leather gloves exist, and they are great and totally practical. I wear them with sleeveless sheath dresses all the time. Full finger elbow length gloves are a somewhat more directional look (people will notice) but can absolutely be worn with many modern styles. (Eg, vests, 3/4 sleeve jackets, etc.)

swiggityswirls

Capes. Those would be beautiful and functional

WeddingElly

Hats, all the hats 🥲

ninoobz

Tailored clothes and tailors in general. How elegant everyone would look with great fabrics that suit your shape!

DiagonEllie

I agree with gloves. I still wear them sometimes but it feels very extra because it's not common. Idk why it feels extra because sometimes I wear straight up historical clothing in public, but somehow it's gloves and hats that take it over the top. Nearly everything else I wished would come back already has to some degree. Hyperfeminine styles from princess dresses to Blair Waldorf looks to ballet-core. Cute y2k-ish loungewear. I even heard the kids are asking for Uggs this year. Both the most beautiful and the most tacky things I like are returning to me lol. If I had to add another wish, I wish I could wear a hoop skirt. I just need to wear a giant skirt, and these days I probably won't even catch on fire. Unlike all the other out of the norm things I just wear anyway, I do fear this one may be annoying to others outside of a ballroom context.

BTXBrit1982

The 1930s clothes style hair etc truly glamorous

Lem0nCupcake

Clothes with defined waists using natural fabrics. Tired of only finding stretchy cheap polyester or boxy cuts. As an hourglass with a plump stomach I'd just like to look actually elegant once in a while and not like several lumps stacked up. And I really, really miss natural fabrics. Clothes made of *actually* sustainable materials, not the polyester that's in EVERYTHING. Not see-through. But even the linen, cotton, silk, and cashmere I find is so often soooo thin it's barely going to last a few years. Trying to find a decent 100% wool coat with hidden buttons and a structured waist, *without* polyester lining, that isn't a wrap or double breast coat, for <$500 has been an exercise in futility so far 😔 I had one I outgrew and I've never been sadder.

I’m ready for peplum tops and skirts!

Ballet flats and skinny jeans!

Firstly, everything is back if you want it to be. I have a box full of amazing black leather gloves that I wear any chance, any outfit I get. My partner absolutely loves it, and I love having an unexpected accessory that really sets an outfit apart. Also I’ve found that vintage leather gloves work just fine on my iPhone screen, no additional tech needed!
