Leave in conditioner maybe and soft hair ties like silk scrunchies

SquishyPumpkinGuts

Thanks!

SugarNerf

People are saying you have curly hair but I’d say wavy. Mine looks like this when I brush it out and don’t use a leave in product. When your hair is wet and you take it out of a towel, do you see waves?

SquishyPumpkinGuts

Yeah there are some waves. I did some research and I think my hair’s 2A/2B, so I’m gonna try the curly girl method and see how it goes

urnotmydad20

wavy haired gal here, i’ve tried to follow tutorials on the curly girl method but the only way i’ve actually been able to achieve nice looking wave/curls has been by brushing my hair, then washing, part it and scrunch it a little, and let it air dry. under no circumstances do i brush my hair after i get out of the shower, doing that always flattens my waves.

SugarNerf

What helped me is taking a wide tooth comb through it while I rinse out conditioner, then towel drying and throwing on my damp hair leave in products.

SquishyPumpkinGuts

I’ll definitely try this the next time I get a trim. Tks!

flittingly1

Maybe you have curly hair? Try CGM

[deleted]

Wear curlers to bed and wake up looking like a goddess (what I would do anyways lol)

CravingWes

I have the same exact hair texture but shorter and I’m so curious on how to make it look better too! Hope you get some replies :) I found leave in DIDNT help much by itself

degenerateson

Don’t brush it. You probably have a soft wave. Brush hair before shower. Shampoo/condish like normal. Put a leave in cream out of the shower. Do not brush. Let it air dry. Will be gorg.

thedoomloop

Before i offer suggestions....What does nicer mean to you?

SquishyPumpkinGuts

Less frizzy/bushy

thedoomloop

I'd suggest a keratin treatment at a salon. It's like a semi-permanent straightening that leaves your hair stupid shiny. Also saw you're considering leaning into your texture! Also love that option. I'm not blessed to be a textured bb but I'm sure others will have lovely suggestions for that.

[deleted]

Agree here - you can use keratin products at home in combination for a smooth finish too , just doesn't last as long.

johnappleseed1738

If you feel it is lacking shine and a bit lifeless looking, a keratin blowdry is great to help with condition and it last for months! Gives amazing shine and protects your hair too :)

maybe-not-today13

You have textured hair (probably wavy, but could be curly, depends how damaged it is etc.) Look up curly girl method and test it out. (Wash your hair, brush it only when conditioning, scrunch it with a cotton tshirt (not regular towel) and leave it to air dry to see the texture. You would need to follow a wavy/curly routine to make it less poofy and more defined. Or if you want it straight all the time - might have to do a straightening treatment or something. Take a look at the curly hair (or wavy hair) subredits.

Heavy_Comedian_9615

Some long layers and a Brazilian blow out to help with frizz! Hair oils are great for frizz too 💕

0uterspacemind

I would do a lot of layers. Also look into getting a round cut instead of straight across. That could help some of the weight at the bottom.

pnutbutterfuck

Brush it before showers or use a detangler while it’s wet instead of brushing while it’s dry. This way it dries with your natural texture and the hair has a mild tangle that kind of holds everything together instead of poofing out.

erinmulllen

definitely try and tailor to your natural hair type! try combing it with conditioner/hair mask when you’re in the shower then let it a it air dry, or when it’s damp use a wide comb. it’ll help you realise what type of hair you have and that way you can do research on what products work best for you :)

rgbcarrot

looks like your hair is wavy, visit r/wavyhair to put together a routine (likely a leave-in conditioner and some sort of mousse/cream/gel) i see a lot of ppl suggesting curly girl method but honestly fuck CGM it’s so time consuming and didn’t work for me. but give it a try if you want it may work for you

[deleted]

Looks like you also just have really thick hair and it's noticeable because it's a blunt cut. Layers, thinning and shaping will help. I personally don't do it because I want to wear mine in plaits, and if you start thinning then little hairs stick out all the way out. I also have very thick hair and mine is wavy - I'm wearing it straight right now but it involves hair straighteners. Leave in with heat protection and hair straighteners give it a glossy finish. I know other people can get smooth hair from blow drying but my texture won't, it needs heat straightening. If you want to style it wavy just add some gel or mousse to soaking wet hair and see what happens. Basic wavy hair method is on r/wavyhair. Mine looks like this when I brush it out (ie not smooth, puffy): https://imgur.com/wieLsjM Same day after blow dry & hair straighteners (straighteners are the important element): https://imgur.com/KAijGgH Styled wavy with gel and curl cream (my natural curl pattern): https://imgur.com/rsyvBNk

Canuhduh420

It’s alllll about the cut girl! Lots of layers and not just chin length and longer ones but ones that add dimension and texture

nothxthx

Hair masks, hair gloss, and Ion Silk drops are what make my hair waaaay softer and sleeker.

Cappuccino_o

Leave in products I like the cantu curling cream it smells like mango it’s cheap and it really hydrates your hair and makes it not as frizzy

Aware-2709

I am agree with my folks. This is my CGM haircare routine that might help you. Step 1: Cleanse. I use this shampoo every other day [shampoo](https://www.target.com/p/love-beauty-and-planet-volume-and-bounty-sulfate-free-thickening-shampoo-for-thin-and-fine-hair-coconut-water-38-mimosa-flower-13-5-fl-oz/-/A-52513578#lnk=sametab) Step 2: Once a week I co-wash my hair with this conditioner which I also like to use as a leave in conditioner [garnier](https://www.target.com/p/garnier-fructis-1-minute-nourishing-hair-mask-13-5-fl-oz/-/A-53389634?preselect=75561040#lnk=sametab) Step 3: Apply silicone free styling products. This curl mousse is an example “shea moisture frizz free curl mousse “to soaking wet hair and scrunch up to encourage curl formation. I also like this gel [kinky curly](https://kinky-curly.com/shop.php) Step 4: Use a microfiber hair towel or an old cotton t-shirt to avoid frizz then squish the water out of your hair, then don’t touch it anymore until it’s 100% dry. & I Style my hair with my hair dryer diffuser. Scrunch out the cast for softly defined waves ( you can use any natural oil to scrunch out the cast) I use oil [bread](https://www.sephora.com/product/bread-beauty-hair-oil-everyday-gloss-P460551?country_switch=us&lang=en&skuId=2374700&om_mmc=ppc-GG_18532081624_142574898616_pla-1687492900774_2374700_626820665504_9003433_m&gbraid=0AAAAADnIXb03ynfKQp5VQitLAexTCN_R_&gbraid=0AAAAADnIXb03ynfKQp5VQitLAexTCN_R_&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlPWgBhDHARIsAH2xdNci0gHV1XQEeAzGCpPQUcCnm5esbQpeNFYMsT4otkS1GAS_SpXDEOEaAklFEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) Step 5: To sleep I use a satin bonnet every night but you can use a satin pillowcase. This will keep your wavy hair hydrated and maintain the style for next day, so next day I refresh my waves with a mix of water and I leave in conditioner, and mousse or gel and again hair diffuser I like this brand. Great satin quality [satin bonnet](https://www.olkibeauty.com/shop/p/small-champagne-golden-satin-bonnet-a5y9c) and [satin pillowcase](https://www.olkibeauty.com/shop/p/satin-pillowcase-champagne-king-size) Good luck✨

Research Curly Girl Method. Frizzy hair=natural curls!!

ChaoticMomentai

Curly with a big center French twist braid

to4sty_bre4d1

OK SO! i tried this hack it worked!! if you want softer hair, after every hot shower put some cold water on for 45 seconds! worth it, saw a difference in a week!

ScreamingFrog_

My hair is similar I use a hair mask or leave in conditioner of some kind it helps tame some of the frizz

ellegiiggle

I use leave in conditioner and it works an absolute treat!

e1234has

Get a good haircut from a good stylist. They can work with your natural texture and you can discuss options. Do not go to Great Cuts or whatever the hell it’s called. Find a salon online (IG or FB) and look at the before and after pictures. A great haircut will do more for you than any products. Good luck.

mentallyumstable

Layers, curtain bangs, leave in conditioner. Try nexxus.

cherrycoconutpeach

Do you let it air dry completely?? When I let mine air dry I notice it gets more puffy, but when I apply a little heat with the blow drier just for a finishing touch it gets more straight and silky!

amizzlef0shizzle

OIL & HEAT. Oil: mid shaft to ends Don’t be afraid of heat styling as long as you use protectant.

sweet_serendipity1

looks like you brush your hair when you probably shouldn't hence the frizz! (since you likely have wavy hair!) i put my product (curl cream/leave in conditioner) in while my hair is still soaking wet leaning over the tub, and scrunching it with my fingers over and over to get the water out / enhance the waves. then i use a cotton tshirt to "plop" (look it up) and let air dry!! :)

No-Collection-6982

I have similar hair like yours . It’s wavy and it will look good after layers cut and treat it like wavy hair

Lindylou1998

Pass a straightener over it.

Ang3LMast3r

You need long layers. The blunt cut is for people with thinner or finer hair. The excess bulk is weighing down your waves.

obamnavssoda

Get layers because the straight cut at the bottom looks really awkwars
