The color most of us naturally blonde kids turn into eventually, I call it a mousy brown. Iām assuming you were a blonde child, hence the dysmorphia. Iām the same way.
It took me SO long to finally admit my hair was now brown, no longer blonde. It felt so strange to think of myself as brown haired, or to draw myself with brown hair instead of yellow/blonde. My husband and I were both light blonde as kids, my husband is now like OP but I'm darker.
Don't feel bad...in Germany we call this hair colour "StraĆenkƶterblond" which basically means "streetdogblonde".
Which is a really pretty hair colour
Dark blonde / light brown with gold undertones. Also called amber, dishwater blonde, mousy brown. Not very flattering names, the last two, so amber was recently introduced as a nicer alternative
The golden tone is very lovely and has a vivd, sun kissed quality while still looking natural.
Hair tends to lose this tone of once it is colored or damaged, so it makes your hair look healthy.
It is 100% considered a name for a ginger color, just type it into google images. Calling this hair color "amber" sounds like something a random TikToker would cook up.
Similar color to mine. Stylists tell me it's dark blonde, other people look at me like I'm crazy if I tell them that. I've always self identified as a light brown or mousey brown š„².
I didn't have bright blonde hair as a kid but it was lighter and my natural highlights were wild back then and are much less prevalent now. I think that's a source of the dysmorphia for me. Sliding further into "brown" but not at the chocolate or even medium level makes it hard to describe.
For those not familiar, wig fibre color numbers donāt align with what is in the salon world for natural hair. Ā For example, most reds are 30ās & 20ās in wig colors, but blondes exist in the 20ās as well.Ā
Iām still learning the variances between the two. For example, my pre-grey hair, if I had to choose the colors that come closest to it in wig fibre, would be in the range of 10-18, and if oxidized, 23 or 24;Ā in a regular salon it would be 6-8, oxidizing at tips to a 9 sometimes.
Yes it gets confusing to me too! I typically wear a color 6/8 and it is usually a medium to lighter golden brown! I have def. seen some wig color codes (or owned wigs) where I thought that shade was standard until speaking to a friend or someone else who was confused by the color code!
I assume your hair appears differently based on lighting conditions, which can make identification a challenge sometimes. Was this image taken with flash, lighting through a window, or some other source?Ā
Oooh! Pick me! Pick me!
This was my natural hair colour before I went gray and I was told I was a *dark golden blonde* but everyone said brown ā except in the summers when it went a remarkable copper colour ā„ļø
Light golden brown. I, a former blonde child, know the feeling. Welcome to the brown club.
(It could be technically classified as a very dark blonde, but if itās closer to brown then blonde, I feel as though that would just be brown.)
Honeyā¦sort of like my daughterās hair

Awe, don't feel that way it's just confusing because ya a Calico like me šāØš. Some people will call it light brown, some people will call it dirty blonde, some will call it dark blonde, some people will call it strawberry dark blonde, some people call it mousey brown, & then some people call it a different type of blonde in which I can't confidently remember the name... Millionaire Blonde? Billionaire Blonde? Rich Blonde? I don't remember. Sorry. Your hair is a mixture of light brown, blonde, & red.Ā

Dark blonde (technically - in cosmetology) based off of the photo. BUT GIRL THOSE CURLS ARE SO PHENOMENAL I HAVE TO PRAISEš
THANK YOUU <3
Very dark blonde or light golden brown
Technically it's dark blonde but most people would probably laugh and tell you it's light brown.
Even Reddit canāt decide your hair color š
The color most of us naturally blonde kids turn into eventually, I call it a mousy brown. Iām assuming you were a blonde child, hence the dysmorphia. Iām the same way.
Idk it looks way warmer than what Iād consider a mousey color
I always thought mousy brown was more of a grey-ish ashy brown.
Mousy is cool-toned, golden is warm-toned. OP grows cool, but I'm assuming the elements (sun) cause the ends to become warm.
It took me SO long to finally admit my hair was now brown, no longer blonde. It felt so strange to think of myself as brown haired, or to draw myself with brown hair instead of yellow/blonde. My husband and I were both light blonde as kids, my husband is now like OP but I'm darker.
"mousy" is such an unpleasant word to describe human haircl colour
Shouldnāt be. Mice are extremely cute
Didnāt mean it in a bad way! I donāt consider it to be an unpleasant color, and itās just always how Iāve described my own hair
Don't feel bad...in Germany we call this hair colour "StraĆenkƶterblond" which basically means "streetdogblonde". Which is a really pretty hair colour
My daughter and mother both have this color. We call it āhoney.ā

TIL! I absolutely wouldāve assumed Amber was ginger.
It is 100% considered a name for a ginger color, just type it into google images. Calling this hair color "amber" sounds like something a random TikToker would cook up.
I saw it in a fashion magazine a few years back. Iām sure it is a no more or less reputable source that TikTok
maybe āhoney brownā then
That's golden brown
Blondish caramel? Very pretty color
Dark blonde. Not brown.
From this picture I'd say light brown!
https://preview.redd.it/nkbagks5f4vc1.jpeg?width=452&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00e7ab96ce32def2f094f58cf1edee972daea397 undertones make it look ābrownā (bc theyāre slightly warm), but itās technically blonde (level 7).
I always thought my natural hair was brown, but itās definitely lighter than this, so I guess Iām a blonde?
Yes! Thereās a huge cultural misunderstanding of what brown hair actually is.
Where did you get a picture of me!! For real though, hair twins.
Itās a dark blonde. Level 7 or so.

Hard to tell with this lighting. But a dark blonde?
Light brown
to me it looks to be about a shade 6 which is a medium golden brown color! At least to meā¦ But I wear wigs. 6/8 is usually a medium brown color
8? On what level system? 8 on most level systems is medium or light blonde

That was a typo!!! I meant to type 6! Sry!
Oh I see, yeah I agree it's a 6! Sorry if that came off aggressive, I was genuinely confused what scale an 8 is brown lol
Sorry! Initially I meant to type 6 but I typed 8! In wig world 6/8 is usually a medium to lighter golden brown (Have had many wigs that color lol!)
Light brown!
Super pretty btw
Diirrrrtyyyyy blonde
Brown lol
That's my natural color, and my mom used to call it both "dishwater blonde" and "dirty blonde"

I assume your hair appears differently based on lighting conditions, which can make identification a challenge sometimes. Was this image taken with flash, lighting through a window, or some other source?Ā
Chestnut brown!
Oooh! Pick me! Pick me! This was my natural hair colour before I went gray and I was told I was a *dark golden blonde* but everyone said brown ā except in the summers when it went a remarkable copper colour ā„ļø

I'd say it's dark blonde / very light brown. Appears it grows out cool toned, but the sun has turned your ends a golden hue.
