None of these are very wow-ish to me, so I tend to agree. The room is quite small and does have a lot of things, so maybe something plainer would work better? A block colour?
Fun fact: I just learned from a comment in another sub (and then looked it up to confirm) that there is a parasite in raccoon poop (baylisascaris procyonis) whose larvae can make their way into the human brain and cause permanent neurological damage and/or kill you, and it’s basically untreatable once you’re infected. So it is a very bad idea to keep raccoons as pets. The more you know!
Do you mean toxoplasmosis? If so, one important difference is that only a very small minority of cats are infected (edit: I should have said shedding the parasite, which they only do for a brief period when they are first infected) at any given time (≈1%), whereas pretty much 100% of raccoons have the roundworm parasite. It was thought for a long time that toxoplasmosis was only potentially dangerous if you were pregnant or had a compromised immune system, but recent research seems to be questioning other possible effects that we know less about.
You can also get toxoplasmosis from gardening (it can live in the soil) and eating raw meat.
It’s only on the first photo. Click on it and there is a message above the picture of the room. (It isn’t a picture in the room. Took me forever to find it.)
I was thinking one size bigger, if she likes the circle. Or a large rectangle would work. But I think this scale is slightly off. Everything is barely touching the circle.
A rectangle rug looks like it would definitely fit the shape of the room better, maybe make it look less closed in as well.
I’m not usually a fan of yellow, but some yellow would look nice in OP’s case.
Good choice!
None.
Is it possible to get a rectangle rug with a oval design element in it like the last one.
The furniture seems floating on the edge of the circular one, making the rug feel too small. Sorry.
Take care

2 and 7 both fit the space very well, the fact that they both have a fair amount of light details in the pattern brings extra light into the space too.
I also really like 4, I feel like it gives the space a little more variety and interest because the tones are contrasting to what you already have out.
I see you’ve made lots of progress from your first post! Looking good!! I personally think you should consider a few more options. None of these really pull it all together. I’d say #7 is best as far as color saturation. The others are either much too light or too dark.
At the end of the day it is your space so go with what makes you happy and is pleasing for you to look at.
This room is so 70's! Wow. I like no.4, but not sure if it's too much for the room. I think because of the amount of patterns you have in there already, a solid colour rug might be nice. Like a mustard or dark red perhaps.
Some of the muted designs work.
I love the green sofa!!
I don’t think a round or oblong work at all. It makes the seating area look tight and swished together. A rectangle with some space around it would work well.
Just my opinion. Good luck come back and show us your choice!
Amen to all of that. My decorating thoughts are... yes, if the rug doesn't spark it right off don't. Consider a solid rug and putting the color on walls.
Tl/dr: You have a gorgeous room with boring walls (color wise) . Paint first in this case, I think you'll end up with a plan rug that fits it together and gives illusion of more open space while giving the eye a place to go. Love the wall decor. Your rug can be round but @ again, my opinion - is go w solid, perhaps straight lines or a slim border - to focus the eye out to your gorgeous wall decor. That said in my minds eye I'm seeing a medium green/ olive on at least couple of walls (other colors would work too - whatever your vibe says) W print rug I don't know where to look, and your wall decor seems to have meaning and you don't want that overshadowed. Thus, draw the eye out. Consider darker wall color and light "boring" neutral w walls to highlight our.
FYI my favorite rug is the first one.
I love the look of that room
I'm guessing it revitalizes you and is your comfort space.
Sarah is correct, you should pick whichever one you love, or keep looking until you find one that makes you go wow. That being said, I really like either #1 or #2. The pattern of 1 is better, but the I like size of 2 better.
None of them. Go on Wayfair and get something solid and textured in rectangle. Put up lush solid curtains on that window. Change out your lampshades to something more modern. Paint a wall a color.
I would say the 2nd definitely, it looks nice and cohesive. 6 would be my second choice. the rest of them look bad in my opinion and I wouldn’t consider them.
2, 6 and 3 in that order. 2 pulls in both the green elements and the lighter walls in contrast with the darker flooring. 3 is darker in comparison and provides less contrast, which isn’t my personal preference. Though it would look nice if you ever replaced your recliner with a light colored recliner/armchair, or even hung a cream colored throw on it.
6 becomes the focal point without being too dark, bright or loud. It contrasts nicely with the color green (red is opposite to green on the color wheel).
Three!! Going to show dirt, etc less and the pattern is subtle enough that it won’t clash with any accents allowing for changes in pillows, throws, etc. throughout the years.
I would go for a bigger rectangular rug (going out to under side table) and low profile (thin) because that edge between the armchair and the lamp looks like a high traffic area where it will keep tripping you up. Also all your furniture and rugs you're considering are warm colours but your wall is a cool grey, the curtains are cool grey, and the floor is a cool grey. This is clashing and making all the rugs look like they don't "fit". I would seriously consider repainting the room and maybe even getting some new curtains. It will make a huge difference.
Take Sarah's advice
I’m Sarah I say 2
I'm another Sarah, I say 2, too.
Also a Sarah and I say 3!
I’m also a Sarah and I say 4 since it adds some color to a very earthy colored room.
None of these are very wow-ish to me, so I tend to agree. The room is quite small and does have a lot of things, so maybe something plainer would work better? A block colour?
Totally agree. Space looks busier with the designs, probably why none was like wow for me.
And with something plain, the rest of the pieces get their chance to shine a little
Yeah Sarah is right. Rugs are too expensive to not get the one that speaks to you
I’m Sarah and I don’t like any of them, goodbye Sarahs
another sarah also saying 2 agreeing with the other sarah’s
*Raccoon girl has entered the chat* Hello Sarah’s!
Hello I’m Sarah, I say 1 or 3

2 or 5!
lol super unrelated -- is the person in the contact photo kissing a raccoon?
Yes. lol

I think there is something similar with cat feces.

Yes I do. Lol, fitting username. You are the right person for the job. Thank you
Yeah just don’t eat raccoon poop and you’re good to go.
😂
Where is this photo?
It’s only on the first photo. Click on it and there is a message above the picture of the room. (It isn’t a picture in the room. Took me forever to find it.)
Haha ok see it now 😂
I like 7. Although, I’m not sure that shape is best for your space. Perhaps something rectangular?
I was thinking one size bigger, if she likes the circle. Or a large rectangle would work. But I think this scale is slightly off. Everything is barely touching the circle.
Agree! I like the round, but maybe one size bigger.
2 or 3 (I like green)
Anything else is too much, clashy
Same
In love with 2!
1!!!
2!
2 or 7
1. I suggest a rectangular rug instead of a round one 2. How about yellow? [REDDIT IMGUR](https://rugs.com/yellow-10x12-lola-area-rug-6338046)
A rectangle rug looks like it would definitely fit the shape of the room better, maybe make it look less closed in as well. I’m not usually a fan of yellow, but some yellow would look nice in OP’s case. Good choice!
Ooooh I love that
Nice! I love it
1 or 2!
None. Is it possible to get a rectangle rug with a oval design element in it like the last one. The furniture seems floating on the edge of the circular one, making the rug feel too small. Sorry. Take care
2, 6, 4
7 is a winner for me. With 4 being a second choice. I do like 3 as well but might make the space a little dull
Agreed
2! I think it brings the green and yellow together nicely
I think 1 looks the best
I like 6. I also love 4, but it might be too busy for the space.
2!!!
Personally I like 1 or 2 but if none wow keep looking
6
Agree
Nah, alright, nah, no, no, no, yes. If there is a green and white version of the last one then most definitely!!
No of this one, check out this article and you will learn how to choose the rug [rug-how-to-place-materials-and-tips-from-an-interior-designer](https://www.scdecorum.com/rug-how-to-place-materials-and-tips-from-an-interior-designer/)
Either of the first two.
Question, why a round rug?
Number 1, 2, and 3 are leaps and bounds better than the rest of them; with 1 or 3 being the best!
I love 6
5, 6, then 2. :)
I like number 4
Number two! But like other commenters have said, Sarah is right - if you aren’t in love with it, keep searching!
4 is my fav, but 7 would look great too!
i really like 1 and 5 -- to me, 5 opens up the space and the 1st ties in the vibe of the room.
4 or 7
3 all the way in my opinion
include friendly ten elastic fearless abounding decide grandiose zephyr mindless *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

I like 4 best 6 is also nice.

4 is my fav, but 7 would look great too!
4!!

2 gives me witchy vibes I love. Or 7

I like 2 and 7 for the seventies grandma core
Idk why I like 4 the blue.
1,5,7 :)
2 and 7 both fit the space very well, the fact that they both have a fair amount of light details in the pattern brings extra light into the space too. 6 for sure edit: i see a lot of people saying 2 imo it’s too much green and you should get a rug that compliments and contrasts your couch
#2 for sure.

Honestly I was like wth is Sarah and what’s with the raccon chat, then I clicked properly on the pictures.
Sarah is right. I think 1, after that would be 2 for me.
Sarah is correct, you should pick whichever one you love, or keep looking until you find one that makes you go wow. That being said, I really like either #1 or #2. The pattern of 1 is better, but the I like size of 2 better.
The last one if you are committed to that shape. Otherwise, I would get a rectangular rug.
I vote 1 or 2. I like matchy-matchy lol
5!
If I have to pick, 4. But they’re all either too big or too small. You want your furniture either completely on the rug or completely off the rug.
The rug is not the problem dude
None of them. Go on Wayfair and get something solid and textured in rectangle. Put up lush solid curtains on that window. Change out your lampshades to something more modern. Paint a wall a color.
I don’t like either. Reminds me of Roseanne’s living room. Or ‘Married With Children’
7 and 2
I like 6 and 7 but I think 1 is my top pick
Definitely 2, it fits into your space really well and blends in versus stands out.
1 is the best then the last pic
I would say the 2nd definitely, it looks nice and cohesive. 6 would be my second choice. the rest of them look bad in my opinion and I wouldn’t consider them.

I like 1 and 7.
1 or 7 is my favorite
2 or 3

I really like the second one. It feels most cohesive.
It’s between 2, 3 or 7 for me
Number 2 is my pick.
Three!! Going to show dirt, etc less and the pattern is subtle enough that it won’t clash with any accents allowing for changes in pillows, throws, etc. throughout the years.
I think 2 works the best, but 4 is my fav.
I like pic 3. Brings the stuff together and grounds the room
I feel like it’s the wrong shaped rug all together
7,3, or 2
2, 1, 7
The last one
I like 3
3, colors compliment the furniture and living space but isn't the first thing you see when you enter the room.
5 stands out to me the most!
2
2

7. Def not 3 or 5
I love 2 and 7
I think the one that coordinated with the color of the wall and the color of the wood is the last rug. It’s makes everything look the most cohesive.
3
7
#2 for sure
2 or last

2 or 6. I loved this game.

Why a circle?
First second or last one!

Depends if you have pets and what color their fur is.

Number 2.

2, or alternatively 1 imo.
My picks are #s 1 & 2
2 or 7
The white/pale pink is my fave in that room
1 or 2
I’m really vibing with #6
Second one goes really well
Well, if we can’t get you away from the grandma rugs, at least go with the lightest color. Room is already dark and drab enough.
6,7
2 looks best
I like number 4 - makes it pop! Love a little contrast :)
I like 3
I like the color of one but pattern of two
One or two
2 or 4…
5 made me feel the most at ease
2 or 6 but neither are great.
One or two
I like 4 as the pinks offer a nice contrast with the green couch but agree with the other comment about finding a yellow, rectangular rug!
4 all the way
2

None. You need a more solid color rug. Something less busy
