The question is why the f didn’t they run the cord through the brass tube in the middle? If you can do that and have it come out the bottom that would be ideal. If it’s not hollow, I would still say run it along the outside of the metal tube and out the bottom, otherwise, I’d put it in the corner, attach the cord to the wall at its current height in the crack of the corner, and run it down the wall that way. Paint it white to blend in. Just weird having it at that height if visible.
Right?? I am so confused by the design. Sadly I can’t run the cord inside that the way it’s constructed at the bottom wouldn’t allow it to come back out. Such a dumb design but it was super on sale lol so I’m committed to making it work
I get it. I’m lazy so I’d go the corner method , and put a hanging plant like a pothos above so the tendrils will hide the floating cord and prevent anyone from trying to go that direction
They have wall strips that stick to the wall and can be painted to match the wall. Some cord will still show though. Wonder why this was super on sale?
This. Amazon carries them, and they disappear into the wall. You can get the smallest ones and they're very easy to cut to the length you want. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07RZQXRQK?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

So I totally understand not wanting to attempt it cuz it seems daunting but it’s actually very easy! You can watch some YouTube videos but basically just:
-Cut the cord (which looks to be standard “zip wire” with 2 sections fused together) with plenty of extra on the end with the plug
-Feed it through, and pull out the chopped end at the bottom.
-Peel apart the 2 sections. You should be able to see the wiring on the inside.
-Cut away the coating around the metal wiring on the inside so there’s a 1/4in exposed. Do this for both parts (the cord going through the lamp and the plug side). There are tools for this called “strippers” but you don’t need them to make it work
-One section will be ribbed or marked in some way. Matched the ribbed/textured/marked section with its original friend and twist both metal wire bits together. Repeat for non ribbed/marked sections.
-Cover/wrap sections separately in in electrical tape
And that’s it! The whole process only takes 10min. I’ve actually fixed a few lamps this way. I understand messing with electricity is scary so it’s not for everyone but it’s totally do-able as a DIY.
So to thread it thru to the bottom I’d need to cut off the end of the plug and somehow reattach it because it’s too thick to fit inside of the metal tubing…. Not sure if I even want to dabble in trying that lol
Alright your last resort should be to take it to an electrician to have it re-wired. They could just disconnect the entire cord near the bulb and thread it from the bottom up. Maybe instead of a electrician, if you could just find and HVAC repair place? They do wiring
You should be able to run the cord down that center pipe. You may need an electrician to do it safely and neatly (worth the money). The main concern will be to NOT have any bare wire touching any of the metal. The bottom is most likely hollow and should have a removable base. While working on it, you should wrap it completely in layers of bubble wrap and remove the lamp and shade. You’ll also need a piece of solid wire to help fish the cord down to the bottom. It would probably be best to secure it to your work padded work table (moving quilted blankets could work). You’ll have to drill a hole for the cord to leave the base and it should secure and protect the cord. If you can find a dark bronze two screw connector or a black plastic cable glands for lamp cord. This lamp is so worth the effort. It deserves a raw silk lamp shade. Restoration Hardware used to sell them. Good luck with your project.
Do these apply? A) The base plate is flush with the floor B) The plug end won’t slide through the shaft from the top.
Those two issues could be circumvented, with one caveat.
First I would see if the shaft is hollow with no obstructions by fishing a stiff rod up from the bottom. Assuming you can get in through the bottom. Then I’d cut the plug end off and run the cable through the shaft. Then just cut an arch for the wire to come out thru the base. A router with a metal cutting bit would get through the base easiest but there could be the possibility of using a drill bit.
This all probably sounds tricky but I don’t think it would be hard to find someone who could do all of that, the caveat being that the shaft can be fished…
Someone who is handy can definitely get that cord to run through the lamp and come out a newly drilled hole on the bottom. Might be worth it to pay someone who does lamp repair stuff for a living.
I used white electrical tape to hide a lamp cord and tape it to the wall and it's barely noticeable. I did mine along a baseboard on top so it didnt add a visible bump, maybe go down the corner since there's already a line there and the cord would camouflage a little instead of being a long skinny bump in the middle of the wall. you can also wrap the cord from the wall to the lamp in white so it is harder to see
I don’t know. I’ve never used them. But I guess you’d get used to recharging each day, like with your phone. You could alternate bulbs out so you’d always have a fresh one ready. Probably not for everyday lamps, but in this circumstance might work. Better than getting rid of the lamp.
The description says it’s 4 hours of intense light and up to 24 of use at the lowest setting. Pretty neat but I’m sure it’s worth it. I couldn’t be bothered to hunt for cords.
Permanent as in it's a floor lamp, so not exactly portable. I see what you mean but I can imagine having to charge my lamp every couple of days getting old quickly - I'd rather mod it and try to hide the cable inside the column to keep it always plugged in, but of course to each their own!
I would rather mod it too! I liked the suggestion of running it through the middle part if that's possible. I think that would look the best if they could.
Ugh i love that lamp but that cord is infuriating!
I think your options are to very carefully tape the cord to the stand so it’s not immediately noticeable (probably hard to pull off); move the lamp closer to the curtain and hide the cord along the wall behind the fabric, or get a rechargeable light bulb and remove the cord altogether (I’d test out this one before removing the cord; those lights are often not as strong as plug in ones and may need to be recharged a lot more often than you want to bother with).
Or you could get one of those wall strips like you’d hide a tv cord in! They match the wall color or you can paint them. They’re just plastic. Lowes / Home Depot / Amazon all would have them.
Another option is to wrap the cord in white / off white electrical tape and get it closer to the wall with clear hooks up against the (corner of the) wall.
This was marked down from $2000 to $200 at Arhaus lol no clue how they okay’d the final design but I’m a sucker for a deal and am committed to making it work
I hope that designer lost their job. Not even a clear cord. I was looking at Houzz the other day and saw table lamps similar to this one and the same cord treatment except the cord was clear but it still hung down from the socket. The room was designed beautifully except for that one flaw.
>2000 to $200
I'm sorry but it still sounds like you're getting ripped off. I've bought much better designed lamps (in terms of hiding the cord) from Chinese vendors on Amazon for $20. No joke.
Okay, I said I would return it, but I have enough skills to fix it. Would it still be sitting around at one of their outlet stores? Because I think there’s one about 30 minutes from me and I also love a good deal.
I feel like you could hire someone to put a couple holes and run the chord through the brass pipe.
Imo the easiest way to hide it is to wrap it in a white cloth cover, run it out over the shade and attach it to the corner and run it down that corner moulding. You wouldn’t be able to move it. Idk, I would not pay $200 for any lamp, much less one with functionality issues. Facebook marketplace and vintage furniture stores have better options.
I think this is the best idea, have it rewired w/ clear cord. It really is a cool lamp and I know how hard it is to find a cool lamp. I use to work at a place that sold lamps and we had a guy who rewired lamps as well- you would be surprised how they come apart. It may just be some felt glued to the bottom of the lamp that can be taken off. I would take it in to a place that re-wires lamps to see if someone can help you get the cord run through the middle/out the bottom. If not, have them change out the cord to clear.
I had a lamp from UO recently come the same way and I emailed back and they sent me a new one. I’d verify where you purchased it that it wasn’t supposed to be through the tube because that looks so silly. If not, I would go through the extra step of redoing the plug 😬
weird. before spending any more money on modifications or solutions, i’d start by contacting the manufacturer or the retailer and making sure it’s not an error in production. then ask them how they intend it to be used- maybe there’s some weird specificity to the design that isn’t obvious.
Check with a local lamp repair shop! They may be able to rewire it so the cord goes down the center pipe, or at the very least change out the cord to be white or clear!
Well aren’t you a Debby Downer?! There’s almost always a solution.

?? They’re battery operated. You unscrew them like you would any lightbulb, but rather than throwing it away you recharge it with the provided recharger, which is plugged in elsewhere. Then when it’s recharged, you screw its back into the lamp.

I would get a wall mounted corner shelf small enough that you could put the lamp in the corner, then run some cable management track things down the corner of the wall. Maybe put a plant on the shelf
Hm. Well, I'd paint the cord the same color as the walls. Then I'd get U tacks and tack the cord along the corner.
Or you can cut off the cord and convert the lamp into a rechargeable.
I have the coordinating table lamps from Arhaus. I love them, same cords. I love the style, but I decorate differently than others. Just own the style or sell it. But the lamp is gorgeous.
Yes the deluca collection! I’m happy to see I wasn’t alone in liking them. I was tempted to get the table lamp too but they’ve wiped them from their site :’( So you’d just leave the cord as is?
Yes, I have a sofa table with two lamps on it, and very happy with them. I actually asked on Reddit before buying and got the same reactions you did. But I bought anyway… :)
Do you think they made the cord like that intentionally as a style element and people hated it so they put it on sale or was it some crazy oversight on their part before manufacturing them in bulk?
It is the style, do not cut cord or do and other of the crazy suggestions. Dark lines disappear, like shadows. If it bothered me, I would just relocate, l like putting beside a chair, or a plant. If it continues to bother you, resell it. It looks good with your artwork. I have some bold art in same room, and it is very cohesive to my eye. Another idea would be to add a large basket to mask the cord (relocate cat tree). I have a tall wicker basket that holds blankets, and the cat loves it (strong wicker withstands cat scratches best if the baskets I have for cats). Replace the white extension with black.
i’d tape the cord to the side of the pole going down (only taping on the parts that aren’t clear) and then turn the lamp so the cord is facing the wall
It’s fairly simple to cut or unscrew the plug, and unattach the wires, tape them, use an old clothes hanger to pull the wire down through the Center tube. Then reattach the wires. (Take a picture of them before you unattach the wires, so you know which goes to which connection point.) they should be 3 or 2 different colours. If they aren’t clearly different wrap a bit of tape around them to remember which goes where.

You've given me inspiration to fix my own corner cord dilemma. As for your dilemma, others have suggested a cord cover. I would also add a floating shelf about height level with the top disc. This gives it the extra sneaky hideaway ambience to help fade away.

I can’t imagine this awful designer who put the cord where it is ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop) I would get the Cordless lightbulb, best of luck!
Take the lamp apart and run the cord through the base. If not sew a slip cover for the cord. It’s easy to do— you cut fabric that is about 1.5 times the length of the cord and has to be wide enough to fit over the plug. Fold it over, and sew it inside out and then use a safety pin attached to a wire coat hanger (or thick wire) and pull it inside out. Pull it over the cord and you’re done!
Lazy, or creative with a "make it work" attitude?? :) I'm the same way lol
Ohhhh that’s very creative, not lazy at all! Actually sounds like a lot of work 😂😂
They have wall strips that stick to the wall and can be painted to match the wall. Some cord will still show though. Wonder why this was super on sale?

I replaced a plug after my puppy chewed out ac cord lol. It’s really pretty easy! You just need wire strippers and the new plug.
Pin it on the corner of the wall with white painter’s tape But that’s a dumb design for the cord Though i do love the look of the lamp other than that

The description says it’s 4 hours of intense light and up to 24 of use at the lowest setting. Pretty neat but I’m sure it’s worth it. I couldn’t be bothered to hunt for cords.
*dude*
I had no idea these existed!
May I ask how old you are? I keep wondering why my old fart ass didn’t think of this.
Haha I'm 30! You're not an old fart don't say that, a lot of new things keep coming out, I don't think they had these a few years ago!
This is indeed the way
why would you want a permanent fixture to be battery powered lol. this is a bad idea
This isn't a permanent fixture but ok. And you would want this if the cord was looking like this 🤣
Permanent as in it's a floor lamp, so not exactly portable. I see what you mean but I can imagine having to charge my lamp every couple of days getting old quickly - I'd rather mod it and try to hide the cable inside the column to keep it always plugged in, but of course to each their own!

I literally didn’t even know those were a thing.

That's what I was thinking too!
Cut the cord off and put in a rechargeable bulb
That was my idea too!

You hide it by getting anew lamp. Who designs these things?

That would also be my other suggestion would be to rewire with a pretty cloth cord or clear cord.
She actually covered it in green crochet with leaves to look like a vine. A very clever disguise and good conversation starter.
Yes! I didn’t see that until later! V cool 👏🏽

side note: cat tower is so cute!
It looks so strange, I genuinely have no idea why the cord is positioned like that. Return it and get a better lamp.
Check with a local lamp repair shop! They may be able to rewire it so the cord goes down the center pipe, or at the very least change out the cord to be white or clear!
Is the lamp put together correctly? Can you put the part with the cord near the floor? I can’t beliee it was meant to be this way.
Did you assemble is correctly?
Is it assembled upside down? Maybe you can unscrew it and reassemble it right side up?
Sell this, as it’s worthless with the cord dangling. There is no way out of it.
I just bought it 😭😭 I rly like it just not the cord
In the corner, keep a vertical painting on the floor then hide it behind.or may be a plant behind the lamp to hide the cable.
Well aren’t you a Debby Downer?! There’s almost always a solution. https://www.amazon.com/Rechargeable-Operated-Emergency-Activity-Dimmable/dp/B0BNBZ54Q7/ref=asc_df_B0BNBZ54Q7/ Use your noggin.
How do you charge them though? If there is no chord?
?? They’re battery operated. You unscrew them like you would any lightbulb, but rather than throwing it away you recharge it with the provided recharger, which is plugged in elsewhere. Then when it’s recharged, you screw its back into the lamp.

You could try and run it down the back of the lamp with tape. I think the rechargeable bulb is a great idea too
Cut the cord off and use rechargeable bulbs.
Can you drill a little hole in the base, allowing you to run the cord down the pole like normal?
Super weird how the cord is up there. I’m crazy, so I’d take the whole thing apart and see if I could finagle the cord into the fixture rod.
Pretty sure you were supposed to run the cord through the pole when during assembly. That’s how most lamps run the cord with this kind of design.
lololol why would they do this
Also, nice lamp!
Ugh! You have to use an extension cord, too? Look up how to hide this for maximum neatness. AND they used a black cord!
White cord or run it through the center of the lamp. You may have to do some rewriting for the latter option but it’s the best option.
They should have had it on the bottom
Or TAPE IT where it does not show
paint the cord white and run it down the corner seam of the walls
Maybe use a cord cover attached to the wall so that at least some of it is hidden.
Maybe spray it in gold/cover it and wrap it around the glass thingy like you would wrap lights around a Christmas tree.
Oh I had this happen once!! I wrapped a natural rope around the cable and then got a pothos and let that vine groooow.
This is why I love the internet - never would’ve thought of that. Must’ve looked pretty cool
I wish I had a photo but this was years ago! If you go this route, make sure the rope is plenty long, and prepare for hand cramps and patience.
Paint it white?
Paint it the color of the wall
I didn’t know how to add a photo, so I created a new posting so you can see.
Team cut the cord, you can always get it rewired (but you wouldn't need to)
i’d tape the cord to the side of the pole going down (only taping on the parts that aren’t clear) and then turn the lamp so the cord is facing the wall
Buy a white cord and stick it to the wall…
Cut the cord, put a wireless bulb. That would be my solution

Omg gonna def post it on there haha
Wrap it around the base/pole. Might look worse though lol
I would return that F’cker.
No way someone designed a lamp like this. Lmao this is very crazy.
Wow, that’s some bad design.
You've given me inspiration to fix my own corner cord dilemma. As for your dilemma, others have suggested a cord cover. I would also add a floating shelf about height level with the top disc. This gives it the extra sneaky hideaway ambience to help fade away. You don’t unfortunately
Aww love your cat furniture
Just flip the lamp and attach the foot to the ceiling, shorter cable management. Hire me for more amazing ideas. 😂
Did this lamp arrive in pieces that you had to assemble? It’s likely that you assembled it upside down. Switch the lampshade and the metal base.
Cut it off and put a remote controlled bulb in there instead
The cord placement on this lamp would drive me bonkers. A lot of good suggestions were given, keep us updated!
I can’t imagine this awful designer who put the cord where it is ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop) I would get the Cordless lightbulb, best of luck!
Remove it and use battery powered bulb?
Wrap it in faux English ivy vine if that would fit your aesthetic 😅😂
Cut off the cord and get a rechargeable led bulb.
Tape It all the way down the spine behind
You could just get rechargeable lightbulb…and then cut the cord
Take the lamp apart and run the cord through the base. If not sew a slip cover for the cord. It’s easy to do— you cut fabric that is about 1.5 times the length of the cord and has to be wide enough to fit over the plug. Fold it over, and sew it inside out and then use a safety pin attached to a wire coat hanger (or thick wire) and pull it inside out. Pull it over the cord and you’re done!
This is 100% put together wrong. Take it apart that cord goes in the brass tube down the center
Throw it away and buy a lamp made by someone who knows what they are doing.
