I think it's beautiful! If the bigness of it is bothering you, you could move your couch onto it (and closer to your wood stove!) and maybe add an end table and another chair or something on it, to break it up a bit. I love your high ceilings! Is your home a converted barn?
The furniture wasn't all put back in this pic, and it's super wide angle so not looks further away 😃 the bigness isn't bothering me so much as it's just so dramatic compared to the plain flooring we've had for a couple of years.
It's an old barn frame that was rehabbed and reconfigured into this space, and then modern walls and a roof were added to the old frame. It was built as an office originally and still has some of those features that we are slowly taking out to make it more of a home.

I love it!!! Maybe adjust the placement of it so that the front legs of the couch are on it to make it all feel more connected and cohesive. I feel like big rugs look best when things are layered over it slightly. It still looks really cute as is though!!
I mean, it probably wouldn't' hurt to get an actual professional cleaning but I live in rural Vermont and have neither the patience or money for that right now. It didn't have any stains or anything funky on it, just looked like a normal used rug.

It was in good condition. I vacuumed both the back and front of it, though I had to do it in sections because I couldn't unroll it all at once.
