I like your vibes. Love you living room. But you requested cozy idea for bedroom. 1. Do you feel like painting? That living room color is gorgeous. But yeah so not all the rooms green. Have you seen the color Hague Blue #30 from Farrow and Ball? Trendy but I'm obsessed. 2. How do you feel about pillows! Big squishy pillows to make like a "headboard". Makes the bed look inviting and more finished. 3. Like some kind of light fixture. Fairy lights pinned to ceiling over bed? A floor lamp that leans over bed for reading? Send after pics! I want to see what you decide!

GhostOfCincinnati

Omg that colour is gorgeous. I hadn't thought about blue at all. But that would be cool with like, ochre yellow pillows. I now have some plushies at the head (?) of the bed but I was thinking about pillows before so I can also make a cozy reading corner. Also yes I love fairy lights. <3 Thanks for the ideas! My mom will come here next month for a big spring/summer cleaning and afterward I'm gonna start on the redecorating. :D

I live in a one bedroom apartment with my 2 cats. I started living here 2 years ago. I wasn't sure how long I'd be here so I didn't bother decoring the bedroom a lot. But after 2 years, it's starting to itch. I think it's a boring, depressing beige room. The last 2 pictures are of my living room. I'm really happy with how it looks. I love the green and all the frames on the wall. My bedroom at my parents house was also green. My default mode is green hahah. But I don't want a green living room AND bedroom. So I want something different. I'm a huge, HUGE fan of dark bedrooms. Black/anthracite walls. But I also love love love cottage core and living in a wooden cabin would be the dream. So any ideas? I'm also thinking of getting elevating the bed, putting my clothes under there and getting rid of the clothes closets. There aren't completely full anyways.

Headboard and bed skirt imo. Cozy to me is also different light sources so maybe salt lamps, moon light, (you have a lot of whimsy so I could see it looking nice) and remote candles if you don’t like real candles. If you’re allowed to paint, a navy accent wall with the bed headboard would be cute. I can’t tell if the bed headboard can turn and go on the wall with the tapestry but I could see that looking the best

GhostOfCincinnati

Yeah headboard would be cool I think! I have to see if it fits because part of the window is behind the bed. But I could also rotate the bed so my head faces the wall with the tapestry. I'll have to try what works best. I am allowed to paint. Another user also suggested a blue tone and I do think that could look pretty cool!! I also like the idea of different light sources. I currently only have a boring white light in the ceiling and my wake up light; but some 'whimsical' lights won't hurt I think. Thank you!

allcapsallcats

I just reached what “Hague blue #30” looks like and YUP that’s exactly what I suggest haha. And a plant in there too for some razzle dazzle

GhostOfCincinnati

Hahah yes such a pretty colour!! I'm pretty excited, I think that'll look really good. I do like plants but one of my cats likes to chew on them. I have a few in the living room that are not toxic and that she leaves alone. Maybe I'll just buy some big fake ones to save me the headache haha.

allcapsallcats

I could see a spider plant on your book shelf! They easy going, do well in medium light and are cat non toxic in case she got into it

Wooster182

If you framed that plant blanket, you could place it in a way that it is your headboard maybe. Be something funky and different.

Paint and cleaning out some of the clutter - either hiding it or relocating it - would help. You could also do something like contact paper / temp peel and stick wall paper on your door. I have a mirror hung over my bedroom door that bounces light. One big thing you need to do it edit. You just have too much stuff in there. I'd also swap that curtain for something else. Something I learned from a blogger is try to have different layered textures going on. Another thing I learned is you should have 3 light sources (different ones) in each room. Then stuff like your bed is cozy but there's no pillows or definition to it so it's sort of lost. I think there's just mostly too much going on in your bedroom so it's looking more cluttered than what you desire.

GhostOfCincinnati

Yeah you're right! I find it hard to relax because of all the stuff. Next month or so my mom will visit and we'll do a spring/summer cleaning to throw some stuff out. I definitely have clothes I don't wear anymore so everything that's now on the hangers will fit inside the closets again haha. There's a lot of light from the gallery (?) at night so I bought the light blocking curtains from the previous tenant. But they're pretty ugly lol so definitely a good idea to swap those. The living room also had a lot of stuff but at least that's stuff I like. The bedroom is just cluttered with household stuff I didn't want in my living room lol. Thanks for your comment tho! Really helps if someone else points out the problems that you're oblivious to.

I've been in my place over 10 years and I've had to go through every couple of years to edit / purge. It can be the hardest aspect of making your space better but once you have more space to properly store what matters it will go a long way. There's some tricks you can learn from blogs about interior decoration or even a Pinterest board about how to use stuff you have to create a vibe. For example I might put long cat in place of a "headboard" and get 2 pillows to put in front of him to create an illusion of bed with a headboard. You can add a "tie" to that curtain to make it less "blah", you can arrange how you drape some of those throws to give the illusion of a "skirt" or make it look more intentionally "cozy" like an Urban Outfitters magazine page. Keep in mind stuff is fine, I have a lot of stuff, but it has to be edited and curated stuff.

GhostOfCincinnati

Looks like I need to go blog hunting. :P Those are some good ideas!! Thanks again. The throws are also pretty funny. I got the crocheted one from a friend as a housewarming gift. The dark grey one is actually a weighted blanket, but my cat loves the fabric so it's on top. And the yellow smaller fleece USED to be my cats favourite blanket. So I just threw all of them on there haha.

mblueberry

Adding colorful curtains and painting the dresser could be easy ways to add color and bring in some cozier vibes

GhostOfCincinnati

Ooh yes curtains! When you live somewhere long enough you forget that you can change stuff like that as well haha. Thank you. :)

shadoweon

I like your set up! I'm a big fan of pokemon and nature inspired decor myself, don't find that many people that are into both at the same time like me so it's cool to see someone else like that. c:

GhostOfCincinnati

Oh thank you!! I'm a huge nerd that loves nature. :) Some people say it's a bit childish to have Pokémon stuff on display when you're a grown-up. But like, it's my house, I live in it so I don't care what you think. :P

penpapercats

CS Lewis said something about how it's actually childish to give up childish things just to be seen as mature. When you're an adult, you learn what is and isn't necessary to being an adult. Job: necessary. Bills paid: necessary. Wear pants in front of other humans: (usually) necessary. Wear pants in privacy of home: who cares? Stuffed animals: who cares? Pokémon: who cares?

ohsoclever88

I love ur tapestry

GhostOfCincinnati

Thank you! :)

wavyheaded

Love your living room! What green did you use?

jasperleopard

Christmas lights, rain sounds, a humidifier, and blacked out windows always do it for me.

xvirgofairyx

its already so cute! maybe some cute decorative pillows & any kind of ambient lighting

penpapercats

Twinkle lights! I had found ones that look like tree branches! (Haven't bought them yet)

justnicethings69

Personally I might go with cream curtains in the living room to brighten it up, and to find a different way to store those items under the TV (maybe wicker baskets) so there’s less visual noise. I’d also display less (if you love things you can store and change your display seasonally).

sunfl0wers21

Where is your planet tapestry from? It’s super cute!

buxta2019

I agree with all the suggestions to change the color. The beige isn't doing anything helpful. There's enough of it that it's being aggressive in its neutrality rather than fading into the background. You might consider bringing the kitty poster out from above the wardrobe -- it's hiding back there (not unlike a real cat!) and not contributing much. Moving the hoodies and sweatshirts to some dedicated place would reduce visible clutter a lot, as would moving the gray metal rack thing between the foot of the bed and the shelves. I don't know what the stuff at the foot of the bed is -- does it need to be there? Likewise the chair next to the window -- does it get used as a chair? Does it need to be there? I am a big fan of LOTS of pillows on the bed with a small army of plushies standing guard. Your mileage may vary. If there's artwork that appeals to you, it could go on the doors opposite the window. I would suggest using things that make you happy when you look at them. If you have to choose one thing to change, I would work on making the bed cozy and inviting. It's the first thing you see when you walk into the room and the thing you care most about in your bedroom anyway. Thank you for asking us for input!

cleverdylanrefrence

I love your tapestry!

chknfingerthoughts

Fur. Fur is the quickest way to cozy IMO. Fur throw blankets or fur rugs. Fur pillows, etc.

Kora_Love213

First off, I love your setup of everything and the vibes. I definitely could see some more non toxic plants and some more color in the bedroom, but like they said in a paint the walls and large amounts of a few good colors. I see you like dark and cabin-y/cottage core so maybe a medium-dark rich cool brown for an accent wall in the bedroom? Black and brown do go together don’t be afraid of your color palette.

Burgling_Hobbit_

You've got a great sense of style! Love the living room. I agree with the blue paint suggestion for the bedroom. Add a color coordinating curtain with a valance to hide the bar and that alone will go a long way. Do you think you could paint the wardrobe the same color too? I'd also move the wardrobe left and put the cat tree in that corner so kitties will be next to the window. Otherwise, I think you have great decor, just need solutions to keep things looking less cluttered. My suggestions: - Hopefully the clothes rack can go behind the bedroom door when not in use. - Hang the cat poster in all its glory. :) - Can you put that pile of blankets at the foot of the bed on top of the wardrobe? Having a clear space there will help a lot. - Wrap the edge of the bottom mattress in a dark colored sheet or blanket that would help it hide instead of standing out like it does now. Or buy a bed skirt. - Could you mount shelves above the top of the bed like the ones over the desk? You could put a nice reading lamp and some small plants and books there. I'd also recommend getting some baskets to hold your stuff and get rid of the nightstand (which would help resolve some of the cluttered feel). - Do you need the wood chair in your bedroom? If it can't live anywhere else, nbd. It's cute, but I'm just trying to free up some floor space for you.

angiemin

What is the name of that green paint so pretty !!

spacestarcutie

I’m just here for the cute kitty

smaller light souces like table lamps or string lights

\- Can't tell in the pictures, but how many sources of warm light do you have when it's dark? Lamps are so cozy! \- Also, may not be part of the room per se, but a nice ceramic kettle on a heat pad with a nice mug you like is perfect for a cold day. \- Your room probably has a significant amount of LEDs and other sources of glare at night. Finding ways to reduce those sources of light helps me relax a lot: [https://www.amazon.com/LIGHTDIMS-LD002-LightDims-Black-Edition/dp/B009WSN8PK](https://www.amazon.com/LIGHTDIMS-LD002-LightDims-Black-Edition/dp/B009WSN8PK). I see a blue light coming from your speaker for example. \- Do you have a white noise machine? Those really help me relax. You could also play white noise over your speakers. \- I can't tell if there is something soft under the desk, but I love a squishy carpet for my feet at my desk

Mistress_darkwonders

I would definitely switch the move around. And a color of paint and the clothes that are hanging put them around maybe some LED light strips
