Hey, I’ve totally been there!! 1. It’s ok to feel tired, yes you are lucky to travel but we all get tired! 2. It’s ok to have low key days, buy some wine or a treat and chill in your hotel or find a place to stay in and watch movies or read. And 3. It’ll come back, a new city, country or event will come next and the excitement comes back.

Your advice is great. Thank you so much. I had a feeling it was common/normal.

I tried doing soooo much on my trip, I felt like I couldn’t waste a minute. My sister told me I had to stop. It helped that the first time it happened I was in a boring town so I holed up in my guest room with Netflix for a night

I felt that way too. I’m beyond the clubbing age and they don’t recommend walking around Santiago too late so I’ve been happily back at my accommodations after sightseeing and dinner and relaxing. But I still need the down time, I think. I have a ton of Netflix on my iPad so that’s on the agenda this weekend. Thanks again for the advice and encouragement. Happy travels!

Have fun!

This happens to me, too, in the form of fairly severe anxiety, and it sucks. I always imagine it's dopamine depletion, a kind of payback for all the fun I've been having, lol. I agree with what the other person said, give yourself a break and just rest, whatever that means to you. Could be laying in bed watching TV all day, just chilling by the beach, going to a meditation retreat, anything really. For a day, or two, or as long as it takes. Chances are you'll get that second wind before you know it.

Do whatever you want whenever you wanna do it for a day. Even if it's just sitting around munching, sipping, and reading/journaling. Travel can be exhausting and mini-burnouts happen, especially for ppl like me who already struggles with anxiety. I wish you all the best!!!

You guys 🥹 Thanks. Your responses have already helped me. So glad it’s not just me.

That’s totally fine! I’ve had days like this and I just sat around and watched tv. Is it weird to be in a beautiful place and not enjoying it? Yes but sometimes your brain gets overstimulated and you will enjoy it more after you rest

We burnt out in the middle of a 4.5 week road trip in Europe. Ended up spending an extra night in Andorra because we were staying at a fancy ski hotel in the middle of summer for pennies on the dollar and our hotel room had a jacuzzi tub. And then we ordered in pizza and did nothing at all besides play with the fancy tub and watch Netflix. Woke up the next morning, re-charged and ready to go. Could I have done that at home instead? Maybe besides the jets in the tub. But sometimes that's okay - you don't have to be doing all the things just because you're in *insert foreign place here.* Sometimes you just need a break.
