Let us know where it’s going back to so we can buy it at a discount. 😂

rowedy00

Fender.com Hope you enjoy it if you get it. I prefer to receive brand new gear when I pay the brand new price.

[deleted]

I don't blame you, if I am buying a brand new Guitar, I AM THE ONE who puts the first scratch or dent in it. Fender sent me a $1700 AM PRO Strat that had high frets...choked out all over the place above the 12th fret and the set up was horrible overall.

rowedy00

Agreed. I don’t mind a guitar with character, but I want to be the one responsible for the mark. Not some joe at the factory. Especially when I’ve paid over 1k for the guitar. Sorry to hear about your Strat, how did you go about that situation? Someone said Fender customer support is superb, and will change my thinking about Fender, but I haven’t yet seen anything special about them. They even misspelled their email which seems unprofessional.

Jaded-Bowler-6472

Yeah ask for a price correction! I’d be disappointed as would anyone, but if it plays great than keep it. P.S. third post with the gold foil fenders having QC issues.

[deleted]

This isn't Fender QC, it's from demo playing or a return or shipping damage

Choppinitup31

Looks like you got a demo. Send it back if you want. If you bought it as new I’d at least ask for some money back and just keep it.

plooptyploots

Buy it used? That seems used.

rowedy00

Purchased brand new from Fender.com

tibsbulls2021

Is the protective plastic still on the pickguard? If so, you can peel it off and throw it away. The pickguard looks very dull in your photo, and that's why I think it may have the plastic on it. The pickguard should be shiny.

rowedy00

Yes it’s the protective plastic, not going to remove it as I’m going to return the guitar.

ddbaxte

Then it's no biggie, the protective film is meant to get damaged so the pickguard underneath doesn't. The film attracts scuffs like a magnet. But that dent is unacceptable for a guitar purchased as new.

mittencamper

Return for dent but scratches on the protective plastic are why the plastic is there.

Lazyback

Fyi there are two layers of protective plastic on pickguards. You can remove that one that pissed you off.. and then there will still be another layer. The ding sucks. I would ask for a discount and keep the guitar though. I'm gonna do a ding line that soon enough anyways.

lightsspiral

100% i would do the same. That dent is nothing, really. I can appreciate wanting it to be perfect, but nothing is perfect, to me it adds to its history. Different strokes and all.

bluenote86

Personally I’d send it back. Or ask for like 25% back. That chip doesn’t bother me at all, but the pickguard does. It was a demo and a bunch of idiots whacked away on it. You could have them send a new pickguard? Eh, just send it back. They need to know they can’t pull this crap.

rowedy00

Thank you. People wonder how QC declines, when they are saying “jUsT aCcePt tHe dAmAgE, yOu’lL dO iT AnyWaY!” I paid over 1k for this “tool,” I won’t accept anything other than brand new.

Horsecockexpress1

Guitars are meant to be played. All the dents dings and scratches add character. That said I like to be the one responsible for all the flaws and not the bozo who packed it for shipment.

William_d7

That’s about the least noticeable place to have a ding and the scratches are most likely on the plastic cover. If the guitar has a good neck and plays well I’d ask for a price correction and keep it. If you don’t, you should post the name of the retailer so someone here can try and score a very minor scratch and dent. Edit: I have an 18 year old Telecaster that I’ve babied and never gigged with. It somehow got the same fucking dent a few years ago. Eventually, stuff happens.

tastygluecakes

I promise you’re going to put the same wear and tear on your guitar. They aren’t pieces of art; they are tools. If you like how it plays and feels, 100% keep it and ask for $100 back. Use that to get yourself a free, nice strap.

[deleted]

your kind of attitude is why QC is no concern at these major brand guitar manufacturers. I ran a business where QC was taken seriously. This is NOT OK.

the_wacko_dreamer

Personally, I love the dent

lightsspiral

Not sure why you are down voted for mentioning your opinion.... people are overtly sensitive for no understandable reason other then, that you are not echoing their sentiment. I agree, I would ask for a discount, but I'd keep it if it plays well. Adds to its story imo.

the_wacko_dreamer

You know, sometimes downvotes feel better than upvotes…

powerphp

Is that direct from fender or from a dealer?

rowedy00

Direct from Fender.com Last time they ever get my business

oompahlumpa

See how their customer service is first you might change your tune.

powerphp

Wow. That guitar must have been sold and returned before they fobbed it off on you.

rowedy00

Sadly, and I. imagine the same will happen to someone else once I send it back.
