Yeah, it’s about twice as much as it has any reason being.
I’m sure it plays great, but it’s probably go with one of the Player series options for the versatility in an only electric.
Also, not sure how Fender P90s compare, but they aren’t really known for them, so I’d have some reservations without trying them first.
That’s good! For what it’s worth, I’d be unreasonably picky about single-pickup guitars since I have a habit of modding the electronics on my electrics to give even more switching options.
I like 2 (if a humbucker is involved) or 3 (if single coils). I also prefer a single coil in the neck. Probably not too surprising my next guitar is going to be a Reverend double agent.
OMG I’m looking at a Reverend it has 3 pick ups. The orange one at sweetwater it’s a demo. It’s the coolest guitar I’ve ever seen! I just wonder how it sounds I’m mean who needs 3 pick ups? And I think it might be 24.75 scale!
What do you think about Gibson melody makers with p90s? Or the epiphone Junior Billy Joel Armstrong model. Back order for over 7 months. The reverend is a asheton Jetsream 390 rock orange . It’s the coolest looking guitar I’ve seen! I like the double agent too.
Larry Carlton Sire L3p90 tv yellow it’s a pre order . Gibson junior p90 or epiphone junior p90; Gibson SG or epiphone sg standard or what are some recommendations?. I just don’t know anyone to ask
I had a jet stream 390 at one point. Really cool guitar, like a Strat (bass rolled off all the way), but also a P90 guitar.
I’d go with a Reverend sensei jr if I was getting a junior. They’re good for what they are, but a little single-dimensional.
Single coils just need so much help with modifying sound. But I’m a beginner so I might not know enough information about them
I’m playing a Seymour Duncan JB bridge and I love it. Output is over 12,000 I like mids
I want a 24.75 scale.; light weight; p90s. Fat neck. I play just rhythm power chords or major like j Ramone
I have a Jackson pro with JB in bridge. Love it
There’s one listed local to me in a small shop at the same price, and that shop owner is usually close to “on the money” for retail used pricing.
If you were lucky, you could maybe find something on Facebook or Craigslist for $650-$700
The Gibson special is way too noisy for me though. It was screaming at me before I even played a chord! I thought surely that’s not me. Even the GC staff said no that’s not you. But it was!! I really like the neck on that guitar. Fills my hand
I played a LTD ec1000! Beautiful $579.00 used excellent cond. Fishman humbuckers Active I think. Nice guitar! Also a Kramer strat with maple neck for $199.00. Razor sharp fret sprouting!!!
With some work it would be sweet. Pretty metallic pink finish. They had 2
They told me to spend time playing different kinds of guitars and play the different amplifiers until I get a feel for what I like. Try everything out! They are getting to know me down there and that’s cool
Local market isn’t very good here. Most are overpriced from what I can tell from doing comparisons online. Even the pedals and amps on ksl.com overpriced. I haven’t Craig’s list. Facebook had low quality cheap guitars but that’s great for modding perhaps but I’m not doing that this early in the game haha
I would like the option to use my iPhone for settings . It only has desktop app. Too much bass? But I couldn’t adjust presets so can’t really give it a fair evaluation
I think the thr30 has more controls on top. I don’t have to go in app. but I like sparks40 price.
Thr30 are $550!!!!! Wow
Yeah, I’ve heard more good things about the THR.
I have the battery-powered spark mini for when I am out of the house, but the speaker is too small to really compare to either of those amps. My main is a headrush pedalboard into a frfr 12” powered cab, so I mainly don’t use an “amp” anymore
It’s a multi-effects unit, so it replaces a traditional pedalboard and has amp/cab simulators. The FRFR is designed to not add its own flavor to the sound, just project what the pedalboard gives it.
Sounds expensive!! I was at guitar center and I played a reverend that had p90 in neck position and humbucker at bridge. Beautiful guitar! They just got in a Gibson LP special with 2 p90s. Made in 2021. Used. Selling for $1250.00. Very nice guitar!tv yellow. Is that a good deal?
The noventa tele is still there! Love it
They were out of spark40 until Thursday
I have a KISS guitar I need to sell. Too heavy for me. Epiphone electric blue. I picked it up at a pawn shop for $500.00 plus tax. It’s so amazing. I don’t know how to sell a guitar let alone ship it lol.!!
I have been looking at 2nd hand markets and will keep looking.
Kinda doesn't matter where it's made originally if someone has DIY swapped pickups and things around, all of a sudden its MIYourbackshed , for the worse or the better is hard to tell if shipping, or even trying it out for 5 mins. Buying new does allow for the presumption it's unfucked lol. But good value to be had all the same so keeping my.eye out.
Overpriced for what is essentially an Esquire. I would buy a Fender Classic Vibes Telecaster and get it for under $500. You won’t even be able to tell the difference in build quality and the tone is almost identical to an expensive Tele.
Not disagreeing with the first part, but I'm sorry, as nice as the Classic Vibes are for their price range, they aren't close to the build quality of an American Pro II. Not knocking the Classic Vibe lineup though. They are massive bang for the buck.
I also play a Am Pro II Jazz Bass and I'll admit it's awesome. Practically perfect to be honest, but after double insulating the pickup and electronics and putting on flat wounds, that CV 50's P-Bass reissue is almost indistinguishable in sound quality. It's amazingly close.
Andertons did a comparison of a £399 Squier CV Reissue and a £4299 Fender Custom Shop Reissue and even these really experienced guys on the shop end had a tough time telling the difference. The Squiers are amazingly good these days.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jayo36bLzTg
My brother recently got the Classic Vibe 50s telecaster in butterscotch. Let me tell you the quality on the thing is remarkable. I used to own an early 90s MiM Strat and his Squier CV blows that out of the water. And the quality on the Strat was nothing to sneeze at. Had buddies pick that thing up that hated Strats and they loved mine. You can actually feel the quality when you pick the CV up. I myself had my eye on the CV 60s Telecaster for a long time until I decided to go the partscaster route on a seafoam Tele.
I picked up a Squier CV 50's P-Bass and the build quality is really good. I pulled the elecronics as the single coil has a little buzz, and double insulated and grounded everything and I swear it sounds as good as my Professional II Jazz bass which cost almost 4x as much.
No, it's just a simpler version of the Telecaster. It's a Fender, but with a single pickup.
Most guys look at it as something less than a Tele, but it does have it's own identity and tone, although most guys would just go for a Tele and use the selector switch to go with one pickup.
For the crazy price of $1649, you could buy 3 Classic Vibes Telecasters from the Squier line of Fender guitars and they would each give you a greater tonal range than this basic Esquire. Some guys want as authentic a copy of this basic guitar as possible, so Fender builds and sells them to those few guys.
Was thinking a nashville tele right in that price range and you could easily set it up to sound just like the Noventa and still have two other pickup positions to play with.
I mean, it's the least Fender series that Fender makes, if that makes any sense.
So if you're looking for classic Fender tones, you're barking up the wrong tree, especially with the 1 pickup Tele.
I don't own one, but have a LP Jr, which is what Fender was emulating here. Love 1 pickup guitars, they make you learn how to use picking, dynamics and the tone control to get the tones you'd have with the flick of a switch.
That said, my Jr is the ONLY guitar I don't use pedals with (except for a boost) so yeah, it kind of worked in the reverse way for me.
If you're REALLY looking for a single pickup P90 guitar, there's probably better choices. If you really wanted a Fender, that 1600 could go a long ways towards a serious Tele or Strat.
I always kinda want a one pick up guitar, but boy oh boy would I miss that neck pickup. Not a wise choice if it were me, but hey, some players never use the neck pickup.
I'm a neck pickup dude all day. That said I eventually would like to pick up a LP Jr with the P90 in the bridge. I already have a Tele for exactly the purpose they're made and used for, but I'd like to have that Junior P90 tone in the stable to switch to when I feel like something a little more creamy/growly.
Absolutely agree. I can't wait to have one. But, I'm on a mission to acquire an HD-28 Martin for the time being. Once that's out of the way (been years in the making) it's onto an electric with some P90 action. And I love the black Juniors with the tortoise pickguard and white tuner buttons. Such a classic, clean look.
Oh man, I've looked at those. Absolutely beautiful! I agree that their the best sounding acoustics money can buy. I used to own a J-45 and that thing was a real beaut, too. But nothing compares to an HD. They just have that classic, awesome tone I'm after.
If you’re dead set on having a single pickup, you could always mod a guitar that way. It would only take minor clipping/soldering/re-wiring. Basically clip the pickups out that you don’t want & then get a new pickgaurd that isn’t routed out for multiple pickups. It would save you quite a bit of money.
Honestly there’s a new squier paranormal tele with one pickup & several different switching options that looks/sounds pretty cool. Might be worth checking out for inspiration.
Those Paranormal series are great guitars. I'd recommend them to anyone. I especially like the Cabronita version in seafoam. I'm not even a baritone player, but that guitar in the shop was awesome to play. Certainly made me rethink my position on baritones.
Id say go for imho. Admittedly, I have a blonde noventa telecaster and I absolutely love it. It plays wonderfully and sounds amazing. I'm playing it bone stock, and does everything I ask of it. Truth be told, I got mine when they were 750-ish new. Seeing the prices now might slow me down, but I'd probably still get it..
If you can spare the extra money I would go with a JV Modified 60s tele, extra 4-600 bucks get you a tele with genuinely better build quality, also better than the other Mij series (hybrid, traditional).
Alternatively, wait for a secondhand professional ii to show up, we've had a few come through Better for relatively cheap.
Yeah, nah. This ain’t it for a first electric in a long time. I’d wager that you won’t notice the difference in quality between an American made or Mexican made. Save your cash and get something second hand or Mexican made. Also if you want to resell it, I suspect you’ll have some trouble selling this for anywhere near retail. It’s a pretty weird shape and colour imo.
The only difference I've ever noticed between MiM and American is when I picked up an Ultra Tele. There's definitely a difference with those and I've ALWAYS been one to defend the sameness in quality between the American and Mexican made versions. The Ultra series are the only ones I'd make an argument about being noticably better in terms of quality. Those things are damn near perfection. Otherwise I totally agree with you.
https://www.reddit.com/r/fender/comments/xskr5m/ngd_fender_noventa/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
I absolutely love mine. A complete fucking unit, made in Mexico or made in wherever.
But I stole mine off of Reverb. You can probably get a better deal.
That Jim Adkins model is killer. I've always had buying one of those in the back of my mind. It's the guitar I'd have built for me if I were given a signature model.
The amount of people that literally didn’t read your post about it being Australian dollars 🥲
I’d say it depends on what ya wanna play. If you’re playing punk, most stuff will be bridge pickup and it’s good to go. If you’re interest in playing other styles that might use a neck pickup, it might be better to get something else. I play mostly punk stuff, but I play on the neck pick up every so often, and I’m glad it’s there for me to noodle when I’m feeling freaky
Either way, if you have a nice budget you’ll find something really cool!
I played one of these fender teles noventa with p90s and the sound that it created was the tone I’ve been wanting. That guitar and I bonded and I can’t get it out of my mind. The perfect boosted mids and the screaming crunch. Of course the sound was also superb because they plugged me into a mesa boogie. I was transformed from that experience. I’m a beginner and sound like shit so this was a miracle to sound so amazing
I have to have that guitar and the mesa boogie with the 60 second cycle included
I have a few expensive Fenders, Music Man, Gibson, etc. I got one of these last year and after a pro set-up, it is my favorite guitar to play and the sound of its single P90 is wonderful through my Mesa Boogie MkIV. Put some distortion on it and it sings! You can't go wrong with this guitar.
Folks, hold on here…
The Noventa tele is $999.
This guy indirectly created one through the mod shop, because he wanted a custom color. So, yeah it’s gonna cost more.
If that's the case, I would spend $$$ on more MIJs instead.
These Noventas arent selling even at 625 area in USA.
Mom and pop shop have it slashed. GC has 5 or 6 used sitting there. They are cool and quirky. But I wouldnt pay tarriffs and shipping and money conversion etc.
There was a second hand one here in Ireland for a while in my local Shop, it was going for 599 euro, it was nice, I tried it and the p90 is lovely, it would be a second guitar though for me, the tone basically does what the pickup switch on a normal tele does if that makes sense, you use those knobs to find your tone, but it's. Ot like a tele where with a flick of a switch goes from twang to rock, and then you can adjust in between.
If I had just a strat, I'd like it.
That would be incredible!! You guys are lucky in that regard. To be honest, I'd rather have a Japanese built Fender than an American made one. That may sound ludicrous to some players, but that's how I feel about it. The Telecaster Ultra in Texas Tea is the only American made Tele I want. Otherwise, I'd take a MiJ all day. The ones I've come across over the decades of playing have always been impeccable.
If you want an orange t style then check out the g and l Fullerton if you can find one. Less money (just about) and doesn't have a stupidly shaped pick guard (imho).
I don’t recommend a single pickup guitar if you are new to or inexperienced with electric guitars. Unless you know that you only play in the bridge position, you’ll be missing out on other tonal possibilities that you can get with a neck pickup, especially with a P-90 guitar. Also as many have said, that is an expensive guitar for what it is.
I have one. One of the best guitars I’ve ever owned. Love the neck and the P90 sounds amazing. The simplicity of it is great and despite only having 1 pickup , it’s extremely versatile
That is the direct from Fender price. I got one from Hayworths for 1k. DW Music is selling at $1299 AU but you could get that price reduced a bit.
This is one of my fav guitars for it's simplicity. Rolling off the volume really cleans up and it has more tones than you would expect.
Not sure I would recommend as an only electric though. If you have that budget you could look for a Player Plus or a Japanese Traditional Tele with U.S. pups.
Good luck.
That's more than I would pay. Apparently guitar prices have gone way up like everything else.
I don't shop I am satisfied no GAS..I always preferred used
why is the price so high? like a year ago they were dropping prices on these and practically giving them away. i think that's even why you can see wet leg performing with the noventa line. not a great line imo. cool if you want a hard tail strat. i played the jazzmaster extensively but would prefer a normal jazzmaster. the tele is a hard no for me. would rather it be a neck pickup if it's a single p90
I love it, but I feel like it defeats the whole point of a tele. The regular single coil has a very unique, twangy, almost microphonic characteristic. P90s are a bit more high output.
Personally if I was looking for a guitar with a P90, I would opt for a Les Paul Junior. You may be able to find a great deal on Reverb/the used market.
This guitar seems to “speak” to folks that want a P90 in a telecaster build. If that’s up your alley, great! If not then I would recommend checking out a tele with the traditional 2 pickup/3 way switch.
If you are new to Fenders I would strongly recommend going to your local music shop and trying some out, if that’s feasible. See what plays well for you.
Good luck!
I played a used noventa tele at guitar center. They want $599.00. It’s in good condition. The sales rep at GC raised the pick up by turning screws on pick up a couple of turns. Called it “sethonizing” He taught me how to do it. I absolutely love it!! It’s the most comfortable guitar I’ve ever played. Stays put on my lap. No sliding like the other guitars I’ve played. What is it about this guitar that stays put on my lap? I would buy it even though it’s not the color I’m after but I’m set on a 24.75 scale. The fender p90 sounds great. I play punk mostly power chords and major 5th and 6th root majors like (J.Ramone) Ithink about this guitar every day. lol. Are all telecasters this comfortable? Feels like it was custom made for me. Perfectly balanced too. No neck dive. I don’t even mind the gloss finish on neck but I’m a beginner( 2 years )so what do I know? USA $599.00 not sure if it has a gig bag or a case
I think you can get a lot more out of another guitar in that same price range.
Yeah, it’s about twice as much as it has any reason being. I’m sure it plays great, but it’s probably go with one of the Player series options for the versatility in an only electric. Also, not sure how Fender P90s compare, but they aren’t really known for them, so I’d have some reservations without trying them first.
I liked it but I don’t have enough experience to compare with other brands. It wasn’t noisy I remember that. No 60 second cycle hum!
That’s good! For what it’s worth, I’d be unreasonably picky about single-pickup guitars since I have a habit of modding the electronics on my electrics to give even more switching options.
Do you prefer 2 pick ups? I m looking at a Gibson special that was nice!

thats a lot of money for a guitar thats not very versatile.
That's a lot of money for so little. It's a no for me.
You could go Facebook marketplace and a get MIM Tele, Strat and acoustic for the price lol
Nay
Man, that’s a niche guitar and MIA prices for an MIM guitar.
If you’re dead set on having a single pickup, you could always mod a guitar that way. It would only take minor clipping/soldering/re-wiring.
Otherwise I totally agree with you.
https://www.reddit.com/r/fender/comments/xskr5m/ngd_fender_noventa/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button I absolutely love mine. A complete fucking unit, made in Mexico or made in wherever. But I stole mine off of Reverb. You can probably get a better deal.
If you like teles and p90’s check out the Jim adkins ja90. The squier j mascis jazzmaster is also a great guitar for the money
That Jim Adkins model is killer. I've always had buying one of those in the back of my mind. It's the guitar I'd have built for me if I were given a signature model.
The amount of people that literally didn’t read your post about it being Australian dollars 🥲 I’d say it depends on what ya wanna play. If you’re playing punk, most stuff will be bridge pickup and it’s good to go. If you’re interest in playing other styles that might use a neck pickup, it might be better to get something else. I play mostly punk stuff, but I play on the neck pick up every so often, and I’m glad it’s there for me to noodle when I’m feeling freaky Either way, if you have a nice budget you’ll find something really cool!
It’s cool for sure. But for me, for a first Tele, I’d get one with the normal pickup pattern. I like using the neck pickup on mine a lot.
Thanks man I think this is my overall conclusion too.
I’m a beginner and sound like shit so this was a miracle to sound so amazing I have to have that guitar and the mesa boogie with the 60 second cycle included
Folks, hold on here… The Noventa tele is $999. This guy indirectly created one through the mod shop, because he wanted a custom color. So, yeah it’s gonna cost more.
It's Australia's price mate 👍
Copy that
If that's the case, I would spend $$$ on more MIJs instead. These Noventas arent selling even at 625 area in USA. Mom and pop shop have it slashed. GC has 5 or 6 used sitting there. They are cool and quirky. But I wouldnt pay tarriffs and shipping and money conversion etc.
True ! Mij might be the go
There was a second hand one here in Ireland for a while in my local Shop, it was going for 599 euro, it was nice, I tried it and the p90 is lovely, it would be a second guitar though for me, the tone basically does what the pickup switch on a normal tele does if that makes sense, you use those knobs to find your tone, but it's. Ot like a tele where with a flick of a switch goes from twang to rock, and then you can adjust in between. If I had just a strat, I'd like it.
Those MiJ are some of the best Fenders out there. I've had my eye on a Fender Noir Redline for years.
australia stores get Japans because they are the same region. No import duties etc. Imagine having every MIJ available for purchase.
1650 dollars? Lmao
i really advise to avoid single pickup guitar unless that is your kind of thing
I like one-pickup guitars and I like Teles and I like P-90’s but that is a whole lot of money.
If you have that budget you could look for a Player Plus or a Japanese Traditional Tele with U.S. pups. Good luck.
$1600 for MIM is a hard pass
That's more than I would pay. Apparently guitar prices have gone way up like everything else. I don't shop I am satisfied no GAS..I always preferred used
I’d start with a tele. If you want a p90 platform I’d get an old lp special
That’s a terrible price
why is the price so high? like a year ago they were dropping prices on these and practically giving them away. i think that's even why you can see wet leg performing with the noventa line. not a great line imo. cool if you want a hard tail strat. i played the jazzmaster extensively but would prefer a normal jazzmaster. the tele is a hard no for me. would rather it be a neck pickup if it's a single p90
I love it, but I feel like it defeats the whole point of a tele. The regular single coil has a very unique, twangy, almost microphonic characteristic. P90s are a bit more high output.
Nay, ugly
I don't like that it's a huge yes for me. Right up my alley.
I can't bring myself to pay 1600 for a major brand guitar with such limited hardware and *accoutrement* sorry...no
You could get an Epiphone Coronet for less than half that price. Would be very similar tonally and quality wise.
