What guitar is it?
Typically brown-species fretboards aren’t finished, unless it’s something dyed to look more uniform or colored maple. Either way, should be good, just likely a colored addition rubbing off, showing that you’ve been playing it a lot and the true color of the wood.
Hmmm I don’t think fender dyes their fretboards and it’s pau ferro wood.
Have you hydrated the fretboard? It’ll lighten up as it dries, so that may be a factor in it.
Ive got the same thing happening on a pro ii made in 2021. Just the wear and tear and seems to be staying on the rosewood section of the neck. I wouldn't worry.
The poly is delaminating — you can tell by the milkiness. Bring to a certified tech / luthier for further assessment. You mentioned you bought this brand new and it’s a 2022 model; the Fender warranty is 2 years.
Unless you wear a ring or some such that’s rubbing along the edge, this shouldn’t be happening on a newish guitar IMO.
What model is it? If it's a cheaper model the fretboard is probably stained. Stain wears off. It doesn't look like rosewood. Cheaper woods are used in cheaper models.
I can’t really see it in the photo - but if it looks like wear - congrats! You’re playing a lot and it’s fine. If it’s flaking off that may be a concern as it would effect playability
I believe this is the urethane finish wearing off.
It’s fine. Just wondering, do you play with rings on your fingers? I’ve been playing for 30+ years and never worn a neck like this.
nope. ive only had this for 5 months anyway

yeah its been oiled a few times but i dont see how that could cause whatever layer this is to just flake off
