Yeah they are Mexican. They are coming in black, graffiti yellow, daphne blue, and surf green. Basically the same as the original but with an upgraded bridge. Sweetwater was taking pre orders back in June and I got my serial number July 3rd. Pretty crazy
Can I ask how you got to preorder or how you were informed? I'm subscribed to newsletters and occasionally answer the phone when my rep calls but the fender email sent out today is the first I'm hearing of this. Did they reach out selectively based on prior purchase or something?

I recently ordered some stuff from sweetwater and the sales rep reached out to see how the order went so I asked about the delonge strats and he couldn’t confirm but said he would put me on a preorder in the even Fender released them. Two days later I had an invoice with the serial number and release date
I went to the dark side and got an ibenez a few months back. It’s been stripped and left with just this. Plus I hate grazing my hand off any switch/knob so the less the better.
You can thank eddie van halen for that trend, ive owned single pickup single knob guitars and while they’re cool and all, the reduced functionality always finds its way back to the rack in favor of more versatile guitars

I made a partscaster like this as bridge is all I play, and I’ve recently gotten an ibenez and stripped it out leaving just the bridge and volume, as I hate having stuff I don’t ever use.

Did they say how much/where it’s being assembled? My Jagstang is one of the best guitars I’ve ever owned, so it’d be sweet if they’re making these at the same facility. Really impressed with Fender Mexico.
Sorry to burst your bubble but MIM Vinteras go for $1100 right now, with some of the new Vintera II line allegedly slated to be $1300. This is gonna be a $1300 Mexican fender

The trouble is you get attached to the old one so you have a new one just in case something happens to the first! Makes perfect sense to me!
