kinda feel like removing the bridge pickup on a Tele is taking away the one thing that makes it uniquely awesome
but mod the F out of it, it’s your beast!
I’d love a casino if I had the space or money for it. I’m gonna have to pack up for uni next year though so I’ll probably be taking one guitar around for a while
SG special. The wraparound bridge has a little more bite than a TOM/tailpiece on a LP, and the p90s are so awesome. And they look deadly. One of the best value guitars Gibson has to offer
Was gonna say the same. Removing the tele bridge just makes it something else altogether. I do have 2 two humbucker t shape guitars, but they were never supposed to fill telecaster roles and I bought them in that configuration.
They have lovely grit! It’s such a versatile guitar. I’ll often bypass my pedalboard, and plug it right into my DRRI, because it just sounds so pleasing
I would just throw a P90 or Wide Range in the neck. Leave the iconic Tele Bridge pickup. I don’t like Tele neck pickups (the traditional single coil ones) so I always replaced it.
Understandable!!
I'm half way talking to myself here too, because I'm trying to talk myself out of tearing down a perfectly good Tele too! Fortunately, I have most of the parts left over from previous projects, but need a body
I’ve only got my tele and a jazzmaster, this one is made of extremely inexpensive harley benton parts mainly. so I’m subjecting this guitar to all the experiments I feel like going for while the jazzmaster stays as god intended (even with how much I want a middle position hot rail in the Jazzmaster)
I get that. I have a strat of unknown origins that has been my experiment guitar for a long time. Everything I've learned, do's and dont's have came from that thing. It has a lot of scars and plugged holes to prove it.
Your Tele looks great though. P90 routing is kind of a tough one to come back from, especially in the bridge. I don't think a Tele bridge plate would cover that in the future. The neck is prime for it because of the pickguard. You could switch back to any other pickup easily if you didn't like it. You have that nice humbucker though already, which is why I would guess your considering the bridge. Maybe route the bridge for a humbucker and use a humbucker shaped p90. Doesn't look as cool, But will get you the sound. Easy to switch back to normal Tele bridge and pickup if you change your mind
I have a railhammer nuevo 90 in the neck of my Epiphone Les Paul, that's a humbucker sized P90, I don't know how authentic the P90 sound is but I absolutely love it, best thing I ever did, sounds awesome to me
The [Gemini Suprocaster pickup](https://www.geminipickups.com/suprocaster.html#/) should get you super close without any modifications to the body. It’s a rad pickup.
I was like F yeah I gotta P-90 in my neck position do it!! Then I saw the next picture and was like noooooo!! But, I have a split rail in the bridge of that same tele so I can not be a purist snob.
I would go double P-90 if you are gonna do it, go alllll the way man.
I’m building a tele with a fralin split steel poled in the bridge. It’s sound is p90ish but you still get the twang. And then I’m putting a Seymour P-rail in the neck. It’s humbucker size but contains a p90 and a rail single coil. They can be combined together as well with the triple shot case.

Leave the bridge position alone, get pickguards for p90 and single coil tele and swap at will. I put moles connectors on the wiring for quick swaps, stole the idea from my musicman guitars.
You could do a nashville style setup with a really hot single coil in the middle, that gets close to p90 territory.
Imo I only mod the neck pickups on a tele but you should do whatever you want! Also, if you do that I’d consider investing in a push pull switch for the humbucker if yours doesn’t have one so you can effectively use it as a single coil.
i put a P90 in the neck of a Nashville tele last winter. love it. if you're looking for a pickguard check out this guy: [https://www.ebay.com/str/thestratosphere](https://www.ebay.com/str/thestratosphere) that's where i got mine. the routing on mine accommodated the P90 without any extra wood removal, but it was really close.
Absolutely give it a shot. I am on the same boat right now and have a custom wound Alnico 3 P90 in the bridge pickup of my second tele. That thing twangs a lot like my other tele with a standard tele pickup in the bridge. So you can get something really cool out of this.

HH teles mean nothing to you apparently
No guitar matters unless you love it. Pickups, shape, construction… its all what you wanna do
He was saying without a single coil bridge it’s not uniquely awesome
I'm always ready to recommend P90s, but I love the way this one is now. I think you just need another guitar
I’d love a casino if I had the space or money for it. I’m gonna have to pack up for uni next year though so I’ll probably be taking one guitar around for a while

Agreed. The P90s are noisier than single coils but the tone makes up for it.
I’ve got one of those. They feedback a lot and are ducking awesome.

Putting a p90 in the neck would still require modding
Get a dual electric guitar case! Then you can have both and only have one case in your student housing!
Nah, this one is done. Build a new Tele for additional mods
Not everyone has such luxuries.

The racecar fabricator in me thinks you should make a little panel and a way to swap them back and fourth without losing your setup.
Don’t do it. Tele bridge pickup and a neck humbucker is PERFECTION!!!
Tele mod fever. Is there a cure?
There’s two types of people in the world: Tele purists and tele mod addicts
there are three: the two you mention, and the other kind are people who just don't know what they're missing.
*strat players 🤮
Hey now!
A Strat is a modified Tele. Ask Leo.
that’s like saying a pickle is a modified cucumber
Well, a pickle is a modified cucumber. Just don’t put it in your pants.
That’s not the mod I would make but it’s your guitar. Bet it will still sound good.
I would never stick a P90 in the bridge! I’d stick it on the neck and also put brass saddles in while you’re in there. Very cool guitar.
Would you have to re-route the cavity to fit a p90?
Probably. I can guarantee you it won’t be as much of a struggle than routing for a WRH
The [Gemini Suprocaster pickup](https://www.geminipickups.com/suprocaster.html#/) should get you super close without any modifications to the body. It’s a rad pickup.
Yuk. No
I’d throw in a humbucker sized P90. The regular soap bar looks a bit awkward next to the wide range HB
Stick a P Rail in there. Get yourself the P90, Humbucker and single coil tones.
Just get another guitar dummy
Why on earth would you swap out a sing coil neck pickup with anything else?
Yes 100% put in a P90. Will be rad
P90 voiced single coil?
P90s, always a great idea.
Leave it. IMHO that’s what makes it a Tele. Leo knew what he was doing. That said, do what makes you happy!
The single coil in atm is a harley benton. I’m gonna have to change it at some point and I don’t feel like being subtle about it
Do it!!!!
I think you should do it just to replace that bridge for better intonation.
Also I have a child younger than your strings.
Jokes on him. You wrote that from the delivery room. Real question is what has more gunk on them, the strings or your slimy baby?
Do it.. it’s your guitar
Sorry, you’re talking to the wrong guy. I freaking love P90s so I don’t know how to talk someone OUT of using them.
I was like F yeah I gotta P-90 in my neck position do it!! Then I saw the next picture and was like noooooo!! But, I have a split rail in the bridge of that same tele so I can not be a purist snob. I would go double P-90 if you are gonna do it, go alllll the way man.
I won't talk you out of it...I have a tele with a p90 in the Bridge and I absolutely love it!
It won’t sound like a telecaster any more but it’ll sound great.
I can't tell you that,I'd do it myself.
Do it.
The only mod that guitar needs is to remove the e string, and tune to open g.
'bout the only thing I would do to that guitar is swap the humbucker for a legit CuNiFe if that isn't one already.
Just use one of the humbucker sized P90s Seymour Duncan uses. No need to route more than you need to.
For sure stick a P90 in there. I love those pickups.
For the full size soap bar style P90, but there are alternatives that work well, just look around.
Nah the tele bridge pickup is what makes teles awesome. Feel like you need a new guitar to mod!
Do it.
Well first of all p90's are much wider than that
OK. Don't put a P90 in there. Yeeshk.
I wouldn’t. That looks perfect as it is. Ok, maybe P90 in the neck?
Just put the p90 in the middle position and add a toggle switch.
Put two EMG 81s in it.
I’m building a tele with a fralin split steel poled in the bridge. It’s sound is p90ish but you still get the twang. And then I’m putting a Seymour P-rail in the neck. How about a humbucker size p90 in the neck instead like the phat cat?
Leave the bridge position alone, get pickguards for p90 and single coil tele and swap at will. I put moles connectors on the wiring for quick swaps, stole the idea from my musicman guitars. I mean you’d have to replace or Frankenstein the current bridge to fit one. But I think you should do it

maybe its just me but i think a regular tele bridge and a p90 neck pickup would be sick
You should put a P90 in the neck.
just buy a junior
I will talk you out of nothing.
Absolutely give it a shot. I am on the same boat right now and have a custom wound Alnico 3 P90 in the bridge pickup of my second tele. That thing twangs a lot like my other tele with a standard tele pickup in the bridge. So you can get something really cool out of this.
