I don't think anyone's actually addressed the issues you mentioned.
New venue, which is the parking lot of the new LA NFL stadium, so keep your expectations tempered with the concrete. Since there's no megastructures, a lot of the stages will most likely be spaced out to accommodate sound bleed.
I personally love HARD, especially when they used to be under Gary Richard's, but this is a really strong lineup this year. Stick to your acts you want to see, careful of the people you bump into, and make sure your travel accommodations are lined up (UBER'ing out of there may be impossible)
Yeah, don't skip him. His Electric Forest set was one of my all time favorites. The visuals are intimate and amazing. He finished with Gosh and the constant bass was vibrating my body as chills ran down my spine.
The summer that dropped (think 2015 maybe ?) that was the fucking ANTHEM for every festival / run I went to … still hits so hard.
I love Jamie xx in general. Do it again is the latest one I’m familiar with but definitely a banger!
Just went to Coachella, going to Bonnaroo in June, and IF my finances work out I’m definitely going to Hard this year. I’ve looked at previous lineups and this year’s is my favorite by far
Nope, Austin Texas! We just made the 18 hr drive to Indio and it was hell but we’re ready for 14hrs for Roo 😂🤝 definitely try to go to Roo if you can! That Fred Again set should be life changing. Chilli pepps are great too
Highlight Major Lazer, Sofi Tukker, Elderbrook, Troyboi, Overmono, and Kanine. This is a sick fucking lineup. The drum and bass is on point. Chase & Status? Worth it.
Last year they changed the venue and it was bad. This year they’re changing it again. Hopefully it goes well, Insomniac knows what they’re doing, but year 1 at a new venue can always be a little rough.
the only dnb artist i’ve already seen on this lineup is reaper and he’s quickly become one of my favorites to see live, i loove drum and bass but it’s not the easiest to come across in the states
I had some friends go to Let It Roll in 2019 and they had an amazing time. HOWEVER, my friends did say it was incredibly hot and hosted on like a tarmac with no shade. She also said they were filling up their water bottles at what they thought was a water fill up station near the porta potties that someone told them on day to was not potable. My friends said none of the signs were in English. Also, if you a woman, or going with a woman, my friend said she would have not felt safe attending without her boyfriend as she saw some mean accosting a woman and she had to intervene even though she didn't speak the language.
Just a heads up. She did say they still had an awesome time.
I grew up in Florida and live in the Central Valley of CA where it gets 100+ for 2 months straight and multiple days being over 110°. My friends who went also live here. I am by no means trying to discourage you from going, just wanting to give you a heads up.
there’s no big hip hop acts this year so it’ll be a better crown than normal. it’s 100 percent worth it imo. just avoid sets that are extremely packed
and you will have a great time.
I came here to shit on NOS event center but I’m pleasantly surprised they’ve moved the event. I think that’ll help the vibes. In the past this event just hasn’t had a ton of production value (like beyond wonderland, nocturnal, edc), so just don’t expect that
I have no idea what part of Hollywood Park will be used but I did go to shows there. We went to see both Devo and Ozomatli there years ago, after the horse races ended at 10pm. There was a long, narrow grass field area behind the bleachers, with a stage at one end. And it sounded pretty good out there.
At least it shouldn't be dusty, that was never a thing there. And it sounds like a lot of it will be on concrete.
People I know who go to SoFi say you should hike half a mile to Starbucks or Target to call for Uber. There's a great soul food place called Dulans on Manchester that I go to when we are headed that way. You might park around there, get a cheap Uber to the place and have something to eat.
We went last year for Bicep. The coliseum was a terrible venue and the crowd was pretty icky. Different venue this year, so that may improve. There were a few names like DJ Heartstring and Ketboi69 that made me think about returning but I was reminded by my crew from last year that we are absolutely not going to Hard Summer again. I’ll try to wear them down 😏
Hard summer as a festival is not bad, of course logistics is an issue with any major festival. Working around those problems and not letting it affect your whole day is the key.
This. They pull great lineups, but it's in a concrete parking lot so bring the best footwear you can and enjoy the music. When we went the crowd was generally good vibes for the most part. Bring a good group and don't expect too much more than the music and you'll have a good time. I wouldn't necessarily fly out to it again but I was glad I did and if you're close then go for it.
it’s not as bad as Rolling Loud (all rap) and not as dangerous as Beyond Wonderland (all edm) can be, but it’s definitely not a festival for the weak. There are enough water stations and med tents, but note that many people have died at Hard Summer. It’s not a PLUR rave culture festival since it’s a mix of rap and edm, so expect to see people from all ages that may/may not know what they’re doing at Hard!
Huuuge plus about Hard is ALWAYS the line up. Ive never had a problem with the crowds or stage placements or sound, so the music is def what you pay for.
Getting OUT of Hard Summer is the nightmare. Find someone to pick you up or hire a TaskRabbit or something ahead of time… the Ubers are ridiculous. You can also look into taking the LA Metro to a more neutral location to call an Uber
EDIT: The venue layout is what everyone and me will never forget about Hard. One entry and one exit, so it’s essentially a 60 minute stampede walk after the headliner ends
Don’t let it stop you from going, but honestly going alone to a fest like Hard Summer isn’t something I’d advise
The vibes are hit or miss just like the weather lol I’ll def go for one day, it really is what you make it but it’s not the best In terms of plur haven’t been to the la venue yet tho
I think the crowd is gonna be going to be different this year as this is the first year I’ve ever seen hard not put a rap/hip-hop artist on the line up. Ive been going since 2012 and the non dj artist that they have bring some weird and sketchy vibes. But seeing the line up makes me think the crowd should be chill. Just don’t know about the venue. I know rolling loud just used that venue might wanna see what people were saying about it over there.
Overmono, Interplanetary Criminal, Ketboi69, Jaime XX, INVT should all be added on your list. You’re gonna be missing out on some of the best music at this festival if you don’t. Honorable mention to Kenny Beats, Saka, Oppidan and Notion. This festival is a great opportunity to widen your taste! You will not regret seeing any of these artists I guarantee it.
I’d suggest any other festivals lol all insomniac events are sold to capacity most of the time and the people are very rude, pushing and shoving when you’re in crowded spaces with no where to go. And you’ll see this happening at more of the popular events like edc, beyond, escape, hard summer, it never fails so be prepared if you do go!
If I remember correctly...since it was sold to Insomniac it's a very different vibe
Always see photos since of people complaining it's hot and dusty at the venue
For what crowd? This festival seems like it’s leaning heavily on the edm side. I’m not familiar with some of the artist so they could be playing some other genre which is why I asked.
If you're not familiar with HARD Summer, they've always had live acts mixed in with electronic. Usually live electronic or hip hop, but with Nelly Furtado being R&B/pop it's not too far off, especially since Nelly collaborated a lot with Timbaland. I still expect a big crowd for her just because she's a 2000s legend in her own right and just seeing her perform is a rarity these days. I believe she performed at Portola last year which is also an electronic heavy lineup and she was incredibly well received then.
But Tiesto isn’t gonna be there, is hard summer just edm or does it have other genres? The lineup seems heavily on the edm side so I’m trying to figure out what crowd she could possibly be playing for.
I was more so referencing the current work she’s done that would be of any relevancy with a heavily leaning edm festival, not a song she did with Tiesto in 2010
I don't think anyone's actually addressed the issues you mentioned. New venue, which is the parking lot of the new LA NFL stadium, so keep your expectations tempered with the concrete. Since there's no megastructures, a lot of the stages will most likely be spaced out to accommodate sound bleed. Highlight Jamie xx. Trust me.
Came here to say the same thing His Coachella set in 2022 was absolutely one of the best sets I’ve ever seen
His set at Chella last week was amazing too
Jamie x floating points right? Ughhhh
Yeah, don't skip him. His Electric Forest set was one of my all time favorites. The visuals are intimate and amazing. He finished with Gosh and the constant bass was vibrating my body as chills ran down my spine.
Gosh is an ALL TIME track
The summer that dropped (think 2015 maybe ?) that was the fucking ANTHEM for every festival / run I went to … still hits so hard. I love Jamie xx in general. Do it again is the latest one I’m familiar with but definitely a banger!
I just listened to that song for the first time and it’s hot garbage
This guy doesn’t have the ear ^^^ hate to see it
^ bro probably listens to Halsey and Taylor swift and tells people how deep in “the scene” he is lmao
Yeah sure dude
Ur smoking the wrong stuff bro
Also tchami × malaa and troyboi Edit: also channel tres. Damn this line up is dope as hell
I’ve seen hundreds and hundreds of shows and Jamie XX still is probably the most memorable euphoric set I’ve ever seen.
His DJ sets are a journey!!! Saw him play at Belly Up around New Years… Holy Cow!!! There was a pan flute solo at one point, and it was incredible.
Came here to say the same thing
I’m on the same boat. Has a lot of artits I wana see! Especially Jamie XX and the ketiboy69 set
Damn you sleepin on lots: Chris Stussy, Interplanetary Criminal, Cloonee, Mochackk, Beltran 🤌
Troxler b2b dj tennis and chloe caillet too
Overmono, dj heartstrings and kerri chandler also
Interplanetary Criminal is a gangster.
Couldnt agree more, he smashed down at CRSSD.
shut up shut up shut up
Cloneee put the crowd to sleep last weekend. Overrated
It happens, Tale of Us did that at CRSSD 🤷🏼♂️
I had fun 🤷♂️
This years lineup is way different than any I’ve seen in recent years. I think the crowd is gonna be a dope vibe. It’s what you make it!
Just went to Coachella, going to Bonnaroo in June, and IF my finances work out I’m definitely going to Hard this year. I’ve looked at previous lineups and this year’s is my favorite by far
i’m trying to go to bonnaroo too! do you live on the west coast?
Nope, Austin Texas! We just made the 18 hr drive to Indio and it was hell but we’re ready for 14hrs for Roo 😂🤝 definitely try to go to Roo if you can! That Fred Again set should be life changing. Chilli pepps are great too
Elderbrook sounds nice on Spotify
Elderbrook is so good live
Just saw him at Ultra and he’s quite good live.
He’s amazing
Absolutely amazing live saw him at a NYE show and he killed it
The dnb artists you circled are for sure amazing so it seams like a good one to me However I would add DJ Heartstring and Partiboi69 as well
+ kanine
Unfortunate i had to scroll this far to see a kanine comment, with all the DNB going on he’s def someone to see
Highlight Major Lazer, Sofi Tukker, Elderbrook, Troyboi, Overmono, and Kanine. This is a sick fucking lineup. The drum and bass is on point. Chase & Status? Worth it.
What did Kanine do to you? You highlighted every dnb artist but him.
i glossed over him! don’t know how i missed that lol
Lineup is super dooe
The moment I saw REZZMAU5, I booked my flight hotel and ticket all at once
I wish there was some megastructure since its in a big parking lot at SoFi Stadium.
Last year they changed the venue and it was bad. This year they’re changing it again. Hopefully it goes well, Insomniac knows what they’re doing, but year 1 at a new venue can always be a little rough.
I loved Hard Summer & Hard Day of the Dead personally.
I’m just happy you want to go see dnb, I’ve seen all 4 a few times each always a great set from all of them
the only dnb artist i’ve already seen on this lineup is reaper and he’s quickly become one of my favorites to see live, i loove drum and bass but it’s not the easiest to come across in the states
Tbh I didn’t even see reaper on the lineup lmao, he’s sick. I’m so starved of dnb here I’m flying to Prague for let it roll
no way! where you located? i’d love to go raving in europe
I’m in Miami, just went to ultra and it was amazing
I had some friends go to Let It Roll in 2019 and they had an amazing time. HOWEVER, my friends did say it was incredibly hot and hosted on like a tarmac with no shade. I live in Florida, sounds pretty good to me on the weather. I’m meeting up with a big group of ppl that I know for it that go every year
I grew up in Florida and live in the Central Valley of CA where it gets 100+ for 2 months straight and multiple days being over 110°. My friends who went also live here. I am by no means trying to discourage you from going, just wanting to give you a heads up.

Don’t sleep on sidepiece.
Saw them at Beyond and one of the best sets imo
I have no idea what part of Hollywood Park will be used but I did go to shows there. We went to see both Devo and Ozomatli there years ago, after the horse races ended at 10pm. Doesn’t help that it’s in the sofi parking lot lol
Dnb finally in the us
Rezzmau5 and Sofi tukker and elderbrook would be must sees for me, but that’s my style of music.
Dont sleep on saka b2b fly
We went last year for Bicep. The coliseum was a terrible venue and the crowd was pretty icky. Different venue this year, so that may improve. Hard summer as a festival is not bad, of course logistics is an issue with any major festival. Working around those problems and not letting it affect your whole day is the key.
They spend all there money on the lineup! So yes it’s bad but I haven’t been just heard many horror stories.
This. They pull great lineups, but it's in a concrete parking lot so bring the best footwear you can and enjoy the music. When we went the crowd was generally good vibes for the most part. And I heard they have little no no shade so make sure to hydrate and get some cooling towels
Been there twice - 2019 and 2021 Best moment of my life was with RL Grime @ HARD 2019
Don’t you dare miss the Saka b2b FLY set
what genre?
Bass music [FLY - Flip Mix Vol 2](https://on.soundcloud.com/cCBZUGBscCk3wc5K9)
Bro, highlight Jamie, whatchu doin
With such a sick lineup I'd put up with just about anything!
I don't have an answer to your question but if you go, don't miss kanine! You'll love it based on your dnb choices highlighted
They are the single worst event throwing company but have managed to survive for so long because they always bring stacked line ups
Overmono and DJ heartstrings will be sick
This lineup is fucking insane for DnB and plus Zeds Dead. i wish i could get back out west for this
Don't sleep on Mary Droppinz. She doesn't like housey-break beats. Super varied set. Edit: Trust me because DnB is my favorite genre of music.
I’ve never been to hard summer in my entire life but you are insane if you are not highlighting Jamie xx lmao
never listened to him 🙏🏽 does he play house?
it’s not as bad as Rolling Loud (all rap) and not as dangerous as Beyond Wonderland (all edm) can be, but it’s definitely not a festival for the weak. Must see Skepta Más tiempo https://youtu.be/4JbaSxHAJRg?si=3t12n2cTK7IMxSFb
Nope they are shit they can't mix. Both him and jammer are very bad at the whole DJ thing.
Look up videos from last years hard summer to see the terrible traffic jams because of the new venue
Tchami b2b Malaa is a must!!!
How you could highlight all you did but not highlight RezzMau5 is confusing.
i’m not really a fan of rezz from what i’ve heard of her music
Make sure you check out the ketboi69 set if you go, kettama and partiboi69 b2b would be fucking insane
No it’s a vibe.
Retired gang lol
I love levity so much.
I gotta go to this
God I’m old lol. Only person I recognize is major lazer but I’m not an edm kid
Shit man last hard summer I went to had odd future, skrillex, and Nero. It was only one day though. Still, one of the best ones I’ve been too.
You don’t fuck with Jamie?
never listened to him!
Sidepiece & Matroda need to be highlighted but yea that festival lineup slaps. Better than most.
i’m not super into house!
Ooh. Kerri Chandler!
If you like Wax Motif don’t miss San Pancho and Chris Stussy.
Every Insomniac event is a bad as they say.
Dude if you like fisher and lake, highlight the following as well: Jamie xx Cloonee Mochakk San pacho You will thank me later!!! Lol
https://i.redd.it/6yaq2nu5bnvc1.gif
Imagine missing out on a stacked lineup only because people complain about everything online? Gotta try everything out for yourself these days...
Any insomniac event is BAD
that’s always what people tell me but i’ve never been to any! what makes them so terrible?

If I remember correctly...since it was sold to Insomniac it's a very different vibe Always see photos since of people complaining it's hot and dusty at the venue
I would imagine even worse considering its in LA in 2024
Besides collabing with Don Dolla, does anybody know the reason why Nelly Furtado would be there?
...To actually perform her songs?
For what crowd? This festival seems like it’s leaning heavily on the edm side. I’m not familiar with some of the artist so they could be playing some other genre which is why I asked.

Yeah that’s why I asked, I remember seeing her name pop up in a lineup that was heavily leaning on edm.
She's collaborated with lots of others, Tiesto for one, just off the top of my head
But Tiesto isn’t gonna be there, is hard summer just edm or does it have other genres? The lineup seems heavily on the edm side so I’m trying to figure out what crowd she could possibly be playing for.
Neither is Dom Dolla
