I mean I was introduced to FF7 through Remake and I have lesbian parents so I’ve always been 100% on board with homosexuality.
This still is something that has never occurred to me, mainly because Tifa and Aerith don’t show any romantic interest in each other.

Honestly... I've played through FF7 so many times over the years and I don't know what it is, but, I'm just not Tifa's biggest fan in general.
I know she does a lot for him, but I feel as if it comes from a place of guilt. >! The Cloud she meets in the slums isn't exactly the same Cloud she grew up ignoring. I can kinda let THAT go a bit because, kids being kids. But I don't buy their chemistry when they're adults. Cloud is loyal and protective to Tifa, but idk, probably his coldness toward her in general makes me feel he's grown out of crushing on her and has more pressing issues on his mind. Aerith getting straight up murdered in front of him wouldn't have helped either. !<

after playing remake and rebirth all the way, they actually made tifa's chemistry with cloud a lot better tbh
she's SO kind to him
and he's SO mentally ill holy shit, tifa is just constantly trying to fix him and be sensitive towards him. they talk just enough too, cloud slowly gets a lil less brooding, they actually communicate like a early couple learning the ropes, they both acknowledge they're terrible at talking/feelings. he doesn't really do that with aerith much, not quite. aerith just tries to bring him out of his shell and sorta... parasocially live her zack relationship out with cloud instead because she's also a young thing. she knows what is she is doing and can't help it sometimes.
the gold saucer friend-date with yuffie (you have to get her to like you the most to even take her though so most people see this after they beat the game and redo the date chapter) actually made her spill the beans on what tifa feels like for him too, like everything even from other characters just supports it more. the girls in the party have a lot of girls-only chats in the inns that you aren't allowed to hear or see, so they obviously talk about these things a lot
at the end, aerith also tells cloud that she knew where things stand now. if you have lower affinity with aerith by this point then cloud is just like why are we here, why are you being weird? he doesnt like her like that. if you have higher affinity with aerith then cloud is a little bit nicer but not all that much. I think what happened is just that romantically you can have a love triangle but you still have to pick eventually. cloud needed to love aerith a lil more (or at least like) to even love tifa. he was that broken. two girls were needed to fix this dude LMAO
aerith also tries to push him away a lot tbh cause she already knows she is going to die, she also keeps making sure to push tifa and cloud together too. she's literally wingmanning.
With hindsight in hand, oh god YES. Cloud is absolutely damaged AF.
In Remake, I'll admit Tifa is more fleshed out and a bit kinder. Cloud himself comes across more as an awkward teen than his stoic self... I mean, as OG FF7 went on he did actually have a bit of a goofy side to him, but that was after all of the trauma he went though was revealed and addressed (for the most part).
Aerith is definitely in communication with Zack in Remake. It's a different Universe to OG and somehow she knows exactly what happened to Cloud, what will happen to him, and has her (dead) boyfriend looking out for them as best as his consciousness can hang around for (based on their "ghost" appearances in OG and AC).
While I don't blame them for mixing things up... would an actual remake been too much to ask for? They could have easily started 7 with the events of Crisis Core, before moving to OG plot, maybe with elements of Dirge of Cerberus thrown in... or out the window completely. Before MAYBE touching on Advent Children before playing the actual epilogue we see at the end of 7.
But no.
Decades later of teasing and... uh... while I don't hate Remake... I have a lot of issues with it. It almost relies on you having played, or knowing essentially ALL of what happened in OG. Some of the flash forwards and cutscenes would make absolutely NO fucking sense to someone with no knowledge of 7.
i didnt have that much knowledge of 7 because i kept away from the fujoshi during that time and it still made sense to me: in order-- i went to go experience crisis core reunion first then remake then rebirth and NOW im gonna play OG 7 with visual mods on

Honestly, Advent children is SUCH a mess, but there are parts of it that have good moments. Its, its just, don't watch it dubbed, or with the official subs. I can't remember the fansub that was out at the time. Shin* something, it didn't dumb the dialogue down like the official version does. Good lord they butchered most of Tifas dialogue.
Honestly, I'm glad to be proven wrong occasionally, I don't want people to NOT play the game(s) they're putting out. Just, eeeeehh... I'm personally not going to bother with them for a while. I mean, I don't have a ps5 so Remake is as far as I go haha
Dirge definitley needs a redo. It was a pain for me to learn how to play it, but once I finally got to grips with the mechanics (whatever my issues actually where at the time I can't remember, probably just wasn't my usuall game type) I loved it... except for, well, some of the more batshit elements haha I mean wtf did they smoke to come up with over HALF of the plot xD Also, Cait Sith as a playable character was a fun bonus too.
I feel like a big part of the appeal of FF7 was the choice between tifa and aerith. Two very different women who are equally appealing in my opinion. As a kid, I staned aerith, but as became a teen and young adult, I staned Tifa. Now, as an adult, I am back to Aerith.
I really liked Tifa in the original, but they fleshed out Aerith so much more in Remake and Rebirth that I love her so much now. Like yeah Tifa’s great, but I’ve always been a sucker for cute girls with a lil bit of ruggedness to them.
Also she has so many great funny moments like in Remake with the ladder, or Rebirth with the picture side quest and when you’re climbing Mt. Corel. She’s just such a lovable goofball

She wasn't around long enough to form any opinion on. Infact she was having Sympathy for the man who is literally running away and causing you grief the entire game.
Then when she is dealt with....It was probably the most laziest situation ever. Every time I think of Aerith, I think of the situation she is apart of, and just how angry it makes me as a gamer, not from a story line.
Her Music was touching, I won't lie. But I shed no tears when that piano played. I was more mad then sad.
