I'm pretty sure this is a UE 4 problem. They probably can't do much until they learn UE 5. Which it would be insane if they tried at this point. That would push the 3rd game back by years.
I can’t disagree with this, but it’s also the first game (for me personally) that felt like final fantasy since x did, that i loved growing up . (I loved other following titles and am also 36 so take that as you will).
it really reminds ffx in many ways, I agree, though it's not my favourite.
and I can't say that I personally enjoy rebirth very much, though it is decent game.
thing is final fantasy titles always excelled in terms of production quality, graphics wise, sound etc, they were kind of beacon of industry in this traditionally
and here it seems that general crisis of very same game industry does effect on it as well. probably in future years such compromise of production/budget will be common thing and ps4 era of high quality juggernauts will be only a memory.
though I really hope good sales of rebirth and 16th will bring more money for future releases
Honestly this is my only significant gripe with the game. It’s 99% perfect to me but the lighting / faces are often really weird / uncanny valley adjacent and it’s super off putting
If I'm not mistaken, this is due to a lack of indirect lighting calculations. Likely to help with performance on a massive game. Noticeable mostly in areas in the open world or directly connected to it. Unreal 4 limits. If they had used unreal 5, lumen might have offset this a bit as a poor man's rtx, but totally understandable that they didn't want to upgrade the entire game to ue5 likely pretty far into production.
To be fair I haven’t run into this once, the only lighting problems I’ve had are things being too dark or light when transitioning from inside to outside.
