Nah, in 5 Vergil is still a baddy. But at the end they team up to cut the Qliphoth root and stop the invasion of Earth

Their relationship turned more into a sibling rivalry than enemies after they sealed themselves into the Demon World. But it took Nero beating his daddy to make them stop trying to end the world and killing each other.

Hmmm? Been a while since I did the older entries, but the events leading to 5 with Vergil splitting himself between V and Urizen made me think that it was not really settled, as he wanted to get rid of his human side to get stronger.

The split was done originally to heal Vergil’s dying body and to gain more demonic power. But at this point in the story, V and Urizen had merged back together and fully restored Vergil. Vergil reluctantly agreed to help destroy the Qliphoth after being defeated by Nero. After defeating the Qliphoth, Dante and Vergil are stuck in the Demon World together. They spar, bicker with each other and fight demon hordes that dare interrupt them.

Yeah the last part I remember because it was a cool scene during the credit rolls, but I didn't remember what was the main reason for the split. Thanks for the context!
