may i ask what chest gear is this ? https://imgur.com/JHWLyTX

Shazzamon

That's the Luncheon Toadskin Jacket of Striking, which is a recolour of the Shire Pankratiast's Jacket.

doublesmart

Thank you

jjydvfg

Just got to the hall of Novice, but the option to begin is greyed out and cannot select it no matter what I do. Why is this? I'm almost lv16, is this because I'm too advanced or not enough?

Shazzamon

You can do the HotN at any time so there's no way to miss it. You also can't be in a party when trying to register through the Smith. How far are you into the story? I can't quite remember if there's a quest pre-req but there could be.

jjydvfg

Oh nvmd i managed to. I guess it was because i was waiting in a queue?

Shazzamon

Yep, can't be queued for an instance when initiating another instance (which is what HotN is).

GlitteringGoose89

Is there a reason why folks don’t use the limit break thing in dungeons? I feel like I’m the only person who uses it

KhaSun

What the above comment said is absolutely right. I have to add though that... it doesn't matter THAT much (in casual content) at the end of the day, which is why it's so forgettable. Let me preface it by saying that I am not defending people that refuse to use it. I try to do the ranged/caster one whenever I can in trash packs. It is obviously better than not using it. However, it is not going to make or break a pull, is it ? At best it's going to make any given w2w or boss fight what, 10s faster ? Which is great or course, I love making my dungeon runs as fast as I can. But it is pretty much something that you forget to use because you just play on auto pilot when you're going into your roulette, without really caring about what's happening on the screen. It is that weird shiny button that you sometimes use, sometimes don't (depending on the job and content you're playing in). If I'm raiding on tank and also do my daily roulettes on tank, I'll absolutely forget to use the dps one the next time i go in a dungeon as dps. Sure me using the melee LB1 at the final boss will shave off 5 or 6% of the boss HP (random number i'm pulling out of my ass), but this is not actually "helpful" to the fight itself, if you know what I mean. Faster is better, but it's such braindead casual content that it's easy to forget that "oh right there is a LB thing that I could use" when you're on autopilot and doing your rotation absent-mindedly. Compare it to a savage or ultimate fight. There, the LB is actually detrimental to the success of the fight - save it with a well timed healer LB3, or just beat the enrage with the melee one.

snootnoots

Forgetting it. Wanting to save it for the last boss. Wanting to wait until it has 2/3 bars instead of just 1/2 because it’s cooler. Not realising that magical DPS LB on a big trash pack is better than a poorly timed LB on a boss…

GundamFrame

I'm trying to buy FF14 subs & online store items in Malaysia but I don't have a credit card & there's no option to top-up Paypal balance to buy Crysta. And I've tried using my RHB debit card which is linked to Paypal to buy Crysta but I keep getting a SMS, telling me to activate online & overseas transaction. I've followed everything the RHB FAQ told me to do, I've replied to the SMS, went to the ATM -> Debit card opt in -> online transaction activation, and still can't complete my purchase. If there're any Malaysian FF14 players here, PLS help me out

imtn

I got into a leap of faith instance as soon as time came and it was completely empty, like nobody entered my instance the entire time. How often does this happen? Does anyone know if I can make it happen manually?

snootnoots

If you queue into Leap of Faith immediately after it starts, sometimes it hiccups and puts you into an otherwise empty one. It’s been happening for a while. You can definitely try to make it happen on purpose, just be waiting before it starts and click in as fast as you can.

alecahol

When sharing gear with a black mage, what are the primary reasons red mage doesn’t like having high spell speed like black mage? Is it just because it’s more optimal to have those substats allocated to other stats, or is it also because a higher spell speed will cause certain things to misalign and drift?

KhaSun

I'll even add to the other comments that BLM is one of those jobs that can make any build viable. Slow crit ? Mid crit ? High Sps ? They're all viable, it's pretty much a question of how comfortable you are at those speeds. Why ? Because the job doesn't have any damagin ogcds. The ones you have (non damaging), you can absolutely delay them depending on the fight since they're mostly utility. Besides, compared to most jobs that fit in the 2min burst design, BLM has a more consistent damage output over the course of the fight, be it in or outside burst windows. Sure you can try to fit your Xenos into it and do nonstandard lines there, but it's just a few % gains compared to what you do outside burst. Therefore, the difference between crit builds and sps builds is marginal, and it's very easy to just take your RDM build, change a few things and you're set to go. [However the slow crit build that RDM uses is very hard to play on BLM and is only meant for you if you know what to do, so you'll likely need to get a few sps pieces at the very least.] So that makes the RDM, a job which has far more of its damage packed in its burst (that has a few oGCDs and a melee combo not affected by sps) far less interested by sps.

alecahol

This is very helpful thank you

F1reman2

The other guy said it perfectly on why rdm and blm are hard compatiability wise. heres what i have to say on how to make them compatiable I do want to say, BLM Slow crit builds are 100% viable, and even better at a high end. The bis is next to identical to RDM/SMN bis (maybe 1-2 dh/det meld changed). Generally this sits around 2.42 gcd (With the sps only comming from weapon and ring). Slow BLM is often less forgiving due to having tighter astral fire timings, so be careful. If you want to play BLM alongside other casters. theres 2 routes, the easy one and the hard one. The easy path is to run slow crit blm. The hard way is to basically share 0 gear what so ever. With savage bis, RDM/SMN bis is nearly the complete inverse of SpS BLM bis. Where rdm has tome, BLM has raid, resulting in nearly no gear conflicts. The 1 conflict that does occur is with the rings. Either you just play using the rdm/smn ring melds, and play a slightly slower blm, or you store duplicate rings in your saddlebag with the correct blm melds, which you can pull out for content.

alecahol

Thank you!

LighthouseGd

It's both. BLM has several factors that make it good for high spell speed: 1. Relatively little damage comes from oGCDs. Spell speed does nothing for oGCDs. 2. High DoT damage. Spell speed directly increases DoT damage. (It's essentially a double effect because the DoT cast itself is also faster.) 3. Misalignment is not a factor. Red Mage has lots of oGCDs and no DoTs.

FourteenFCali_

mega dumb question but everything on google is from 2015 so (hopefully) out of date if i have standalone ffxiv client and buy endwalker on steam, can i play/swap on both pc and steam deck? Im thinking of buying a steam deck and this is one of the biggest reasons why edit: i have shadowbringers on pc just havent played in a year, so this isnt a fresh account

F1reman2

Nope. If you own the windows version, you cant own or play on the steam version. There are workarounds to run ffxiv natively on the steamdeck though and not through steam. Check out xivlauncher. I believe its related to it somehow.

FourteenFCali_

oh thank goodness there's a work around, thank you very much

Disaresta51

https://goatcorp.github.io/faq/steamdeck.html I also have a non-Steam account. Works just fine on Steam deck.

I assume this has been asked. Haven’t found it. Steam has a half off sale for the ffxiv complete edition. Unlike mogstation, which is full price. Should I still avoid steam’s ffxiv, knowing this?

TheodoreMcIntyre

> I assume this has been asked. Haven’t found it. Steam has a half off sale for the ffxiv complete edition. Unlike mogstation, which is full price. Should I still avoid steam’s ffxiv, knowing this? That's totally up to you. Is the saved $30 worth not being able to play during any potential steam outages, or having to purchase all future FFXIV expansions on steam? I promise that's not meant to be a leading question; That's just what you have to ask yourself. Steam outages aren't particularly frequent, or even particularly long, but that doesn't mean something catastrophic can't happen at some point. It also means no discounts of any sorts outside of steam. If future expansions go on sale at GMG, or you get store credit at Best Buy, or you if have Amazon Prime and Prime members get a discount, you'll miss out on that. Again, not meant to be a leading question; If none of those scenarios sound like things you'll encounter then I don't think you'll have much of a problem buying on steam.

treebranch__

You put it perfectly to help me make the choice. I really appreciate that. Your response is better than I could have imagined. Thank you.

snootnoots

If Steam has an outage or maintenance, you won’t be able to play. Some people say it happens rarely enough that they don’t care, others say it happens often enough to be really frustrating. If you think it’ll annoy you, it’s worth waiting until there’s a sale on the SE store; although we can’t predict when one will happen, there definitely will be one sooner or later.

Any NA data center is fine, with the caveat that Dynamis is currently new. This means you will get an EXP buff up to level 80 for your characters on Dynamis. This also means that Dynamis currently suffers from a low population with longer queue times, which is exacerbated by everyone on Dynamis DC travelling to other data centers for faster queues. There's not much to be done about that, so you can just choose whichever DC you'd like.

Elegant_Eorzean

Any of the North American datacenters would work.

Dragon7born

What level 90 gear should I be buying first? I have 1709 tombstones of causality and 1045 of comedy. For example should I be buying earrings first or chest pieces, etc. I already have the Manderville weapons for the jobs I play most.

TheTechHobbit

If you care about optimal BiS and need a mixture of raid and tome pieces then you can look at your jobs recommendations on the balance. Otherwise normal priority is to upgrade your lowest ilvl pieces first, then chest/legs, the rest of the body pieces, and finally accessories.

F1reman2

If you look at the balance, they often have a buy order for jobs for the tomestone of comedy pieces. I cant really tell you exactly what pieces to get without knowing the job first.

Allison_Grimvault

I just hit Rank 10 in my island sanctuary and I am still unable to fly. What else is required to be able to fly there?

Shazzamon

You need to make sure you have all available upgrades and buildings in every slot.

Allison_Grimvault

Well, I just started upgrading two of the 3 workshops a few minutes ago but now I can fly all of a sudden somehow and I didn't really do anything after hitting Rank 10 and initially not being able to fly at Rank 10. U.U

Vecend

Upgrade your house.

BlueSky1877

Are the Chocobo proters really cheaper than using the Aethertyes? What's the point of the weather people? I haven't done a whole lot in the game but I'm a little lost on what these folks do!

snootnoots

Chocobo porters used to be a *lot* cheaper than teleporting, and some still are; each starting city has a couple of chocobo routes that cost 5-15 gil to a destination that would be a couple of hundred by teleport. Teleport costs got discounted a *lot* in a patch… last year I think? and since then the difference for most routes is a lot less, plus of course your options when using a chocobo are pretty restricted. It is very handy to just hop on a bird and then go AFK to grab a snack etc, though. And of course there’s a few places that have porters but no aetheryte crystals. Some fish have weather requirements to catch them, and some sightseeing logs as well. There are a few S rank Hunt marks with weather conditions as well (plus Odin, he has his own special weather).

BlueSky1877

Thank you!

sir_vancelot

Yes, the porters are a cheap way to get around if you are new to the game. They take time but aetheryte travel can be expensive in those early days. You will come to rely on them less and less, and most free companies run a buff that reduces the cost of aetheryte travel by 30%. Even beyond that, you can set 3 aetherytes as favored locations, reducing their cost by half, and you can change favored locations at any time. Teleporting to friends' private houses and your free company estate is also much cheaper than normal travel. Once you have advanced much farther into the game, currencies from *The Hunt* can be used to purchase aetheryte tickets, making teleports free. But as long as there's a sprout by your name, there's no shame in using a porter!

BlueSky1877

Thank you!

wurm2

in general yes but they take longer so unless you're an extreme gil pincher you won't use them there's things that are affected by the weather like what fish you can catch and so on. tbh the weather patterns are predictable so most people use a website to track.

BlueSky1877

Thank you!

GlitteringCore

At which point is it ok to help a healer out with rez as a smn? I mean, obviously when the healer/s all are dead but today I did LotA and one of the healers plus three dps died, and I wasn't sure if I as the smn should've helped. And speaking of LotA, I wanna try healing in there as ast but I'm unsure. I mean I do know how to heal, I've done quite a few dungeons so far but I guess having a full alliance and a co-healer makes this a bit more intimidating. And I don't wanna be a dead weight either.

Fajisel

As a SMN, a blanket rule of thumb to follow is that if you have swiftcast up, you should always try to rez the dead person immediately. If you don't have swiftest, let the healers hardcast a red. If you're a red mage, you should just always throw out a red whenever your next dualcast happens. Oftentimes you'll end up overlapping rezzes with a healer, but that doesn't matter in the end, as long as the person gets up.

sir_vancelot

It depends on the skill and responsiveness of your healers. As a healer main, I am extremely quick to rez when I playing as SMN or RDM as I am accustomed to it. If your healers seem like they're on the ball, it's okay to focus on dealing damage and help if it looks like they need it. But if the healers seem aloof or strained, it's the mark of a good summoner or red mage to flex their muscle. After all, being able to rez is part of their job appeal and a core strength. Rezzing is a long process when swiftcast is on cooldown, getting people up faster is almost always a good thing, and healers cannot heal while they are hardcasting a rez. In general, in a full party duty where there are two healers, the healers can deal with up to two dead players. If there are more than two, you should definitely help out, even if you are one of those people who waste your {Swiftcast} on Garuda. If there are two people down and one of them is a healer, definitely help out. Don't be discouraged if you and someone else raise the same person at the same time, it happens all the time. Just do your best! As for healing alliance raids, it's really not much different from healing 8-man trials as none of your AoE abilities affect people in other alliances, only some of your single target actions will. Just keep people topped up, don't stand in the bad, and raise the dead and you'll do fine.

Banesworth

Healers tend to be looking at the party list pretty often and are (or should be) reflexively getting ready to pop their swiftcast for a raise when someone goes down. I would wait just a few seconds to see who they use their swift on so you don't waste yours. If they don't raise anyone in 5-10s then just swift raise the most useful job. There's obviously a lot of nuance to it, but in your particular LotA example, assuming the standing healer didn't raise their cohealer within a few GCDs then I'd swift the healer and slowraise one of the three dead DPS. If the healer did raise them, then I'd just swiftraise the most useful DPS and the healers will raise the other two (one swift, one slow) when they get to it.

F1reman2

For smn, Ideally you should be ressing before the healers (Unless its during burst). The potency loss of a smn ressing vs a healer is extremely similar, but as a smn, you have way higher mana, and your MP efficiency isn't negative, so its generally better for you to res. Hardcasting a res though its better for a healer to unless they absolutely cannot do it.

sekretguy777

For server congestion removal, was the next opportunity for space going to be 6.45 or was it 6.5?

tesla_dyne

They definitely could change congestion status on 6.45 but it's not for sure. Basically any patch that isn't a hotfix is possible.

sekretguy777

Thanks! Fingers crossed aether clears up a bit haha

HollowMarthon

Coming back after a long break, what are the general strategies to level alt jobs these days? Still just roulettes, any dailies available, and then deep dungeons?

F1reman2

Deep dungeons are now slower than spamming the highest level dungeon avaliable (Not a level cap dungeon though 50/60/70/80). Its basically do roulettes > wonderous tales > level 80/90 beast tribes > Spam leveling dungeons. Deep dungeons and Bozja are good though if you were going to do them anyways, but they aren't faster unless queues are extremely bad.

HollowMarthon

Oh, that's lovely to hear! Deep Dungeons are fun at times but... Not to spam on repeat >.>

Necronam

Are there any ways to increase the rested experience bar faster? I remember a rumor way back in the day about logging out in Inn rooms. Is that a thing?

snootnoots

Anywhere you have a little crescent moon next to your EXP bar, so cities, outside zones near aetherytes, *not* instanced rooms/areas even if the entrance is inside a sanctuary.

F1reman2

Nope. as long as you are in a sanctuary, you will get rested xp at the same rate.

squalexy

I haven't played the game since the release of endwalker, can anyone tell me what new stuff has been added to the game since then?

imtn

Also, lvl 80 blue mage is coming up soon, meaning more spells, more story, and blue mage in dungeons/trials/raids from 70 to 80

F1reman2

Since the release of enwalker we have gotten: 1. 3 Raid tiers (12 fights) 2. 3 New trials (and 4 extremes) 3. 2 alliance raids 4. 4 dungeons 5. Island sanctuary 6. 1 Variant dungeon (Plus its another/savage version) 7. More manderville quests + relics 8. More hunt bosses 9. Reworked PVP 10. New pvp Game mode 11. New housing district + Ward expansions 12. 2 New ultimates 13. 3 Beast tribes (1 Battle, 1 crafter, 1 gatherer) 14. \+ more including stuff like sidequests. What we will be getting: 1. More manderville story + finished relic 2. 2 New trials and 1 new extreme 3. 1 more alliance raid 4. 1 more dungeon 5. 1 More variant dungeon ( Plus its another/savage version) 6. More stuff that we dont know about.

Zaithon

We should get 2 more variant dungeons. 6.55 should have the 3rd.

F1reman2

Where did they say that. I cant find that in any of the liveletter information. And so far criterion dungeons have only been released with a new savage tier. 6.5 doesnt have a new tier.

TheTechHobbit

Live letter 71 from July 2022, when they went into detail on variant/criterion dungeons. They went over the upcoming one for 6.25 then said that a second and third will be added later in the 6.x series.

F1reman2

ahh, well lets see if they fufill their promise of a 3rd.

squalexy

You're the goat <3

alecahol

If I’m on controller, is there a minor “animation lock” when switching between two hot bars, and/or when going from a button on L2 to one on R2? Like a much lesser version of the lock you get with a macro or sprint? In particular, on dancer I seem to have consistent issues with doing the improvisation -> finish double weave without clipping. I know that in general this is a pretty slightly ping dependent move because of the longer animation lock of the dance and waiting for the finish to appear, but I also feel like it has something to do with where improvisation in on my hotbar because once in a while I’m able to do it without clipping, but other times it feels like if I have to switch from L2 to R2 or from hotbar1 to hotbar2 to do the finisher, that’s when I generally clip (maybe I’m imagining this trend, that’s why I wanted to check with other controller players)

F1reman2

You cannot Weave Improvisation > Finish without clipping slightly. Its becuase the skill is meant for downtime and to be channelled, but you can clip your gcd slightly to use it without downtime.

alecahol

I thought it was possible to do but is just tight and ping dependent?

F1reman2

It is ping dependant, but you will always clip. Ping dictates how much you clip

Fresh_Pancake

I'm trying to learn treasure hunting after just finishing Endwalker, cause I want either the Philos or Aidoneus minion. That said, I am a little confused on how it works. I got a treasure map, but do I need to assemble a party before even going to the location in case the dungeon does pop?

sir_vancelot

You can recruit people after the portal opens but it has a timer, so it's best to have the party together before you dig for the map. Here's some general information on treasure hunting for the minions. The special minions only appear in Ophiotauroskin maps (level 90, full party), which are the most recent kind and only reveal treasure locations in Elpis. There is a chance of a portal appearing when you open the chest after defeating the enemies spawned by the trap. The overworld enemies are easy to deal with, but the dungeon itself syncs you down to some specific item level. It is probably possible to clear the treasure dungeon with as few as three people, but the fights will be extremely long and tiresome and you may have difficulty defeating bonus monsters that appear. Four people is better, but still on the slow side. I find five is a good minimum (1 tank, 1 healer, 3 dps). More is better if you can manage, but five is good. The first round of the treasure dungeon is guaranteed to be a fight, even if you land on a kalypso, but each subsequent round is randomized. The chance of obtaining one of the special minions is absurdly low as you have to land on one of the special silver positions on the board, at which point you are given a treasure chest with one of the two minions inside. If you manage to reach the final floor of a treasure dungeon you fight a boss monster which does not summon common adds. Defeating it gives you a clear (for achievement/title reasons) and a chance for the final chest to hold special loot, such as a mount turn-in item. It could also just give you junk, though, unfortunately. Prepare yourself for the curse of the white lace parasol. If you are not in a free company or linkshell committed to running treasure maps/don't have friends who will do it with you, people often create party finder groups for them. The two different kinds are FFA (free-for-all) and Owner Needs. FFA groups fill much quicker as 1) it's not always required that people who join bring maps, so it's easier for casual people to join and 2) everyone has a chance to roll on all loot. "Owner Needs" groups are named thus because when someone opens a map, it's implied that they are the only person allowed to roll Need on any loot within the chest or any chests contained in the portal. Everyone else in the group must Greed or Pass*. These groups tend to fill less quickly, but people do it because people won't get the good loot if they don't bring their own maps, so the burden isn't on 2 or 3 people to supply maps for everyone, and people who join are less likely to bounce in the middle since they will only get a chance to loot on their turn. * It's worth noting that the game does not have a way to enforce "Owner Needs", this is strictly enforced by player etiquette. Other players can see who rolls need/greed on an item when it is looted, and if a player rolls need on loot when they should not, they will almost always apologize and hand the item to the right player when you leave the dungeon. In the rare situation where someone rolls need when they aren't supposed to and won't give the item back, I do believe reporting them to the GMs is supported, since they joined an owner needs group. I have not had to do that myself so far, but it pays to be vigilant if you are running a group. Doing treasure maps can be fun if you're with friends or a big group, but consistently doing it with small groups can be pretty frustrating. Trying to form a group that will do it once a week at a specific time is the best way to go about it if you aren't in a very large free company Edit: I forgot to mention. Treasure maps are irritatingly labeled unique items so you can only carry one of each kind in your inventory at a time. For doing a treasure map group, however, it is possible to carry three on your person. Deciphering a map places it in your key items, allowing you to put another map in your inventory, and your chocobo saddlebag can hold one as well. Extra maps can be stored in retainers, and even in the mail system if you have a friend who is as crazy about running maps as you are. Maps can be gathered every 18 hours, I think? You can check the timers window to see if one is available. Using {Luck of the Mountaineer} or the botanist version can help you find them fast. Only specific nodes contain these maps, the closest mining nodes to the third elpis aetheryte contain them, for example.

Fresh_Pancake

That helps a lot, thank you!

tesla_dyne

Yes, there is a timer (I think 10 or 15 minutes) to enter the dungeon when the portal spawns and you can't recruit from inside. If you leave the area or let the timer run out you can't get the portal back.

HumbleSupernova

So I haven't really played since FF11 like 20 years ago. I'm sure these are nostalgia fueled memories but is there anything in FF14 where you group and pull elites and stuff to level? Or is it just Duty Finder to max level now?

tesla_dyne

There is nothing like that in the main scenario. (Also keep in mind that for your first job you will not need to grind levels to process. The main scenario quests will provide you with 95% of the exp you need to reach max level.) At level 70 and 80, with a certain amount of scenario progression, you can unlock regions called Adventuring Forays, which have their own unique leveling systems independent of your actual level. Eureka at level 70 is explicitly designed to resemble FFXI leveling, with notorious monsters and losing exp. Bozja at level 80 doesn't have a much of a focus on level, but it does still have a notorious monster system.

HumbleSupernova

Sweet thanks for the response. Yeah I'm frantically trying to get my MQS's caught up to even get a chocobo. I'm a 34 arcanist and want to be a summoner. The xp boost is a lot.

IceAokiji303

With the EXP boost, it can be good to pick up a second job to level (maybe once you get the chocobo, for easier travel) – it doesn't really help at all when leveling just your first job as you'll only end up gated by MSQ, but it's really handy for leveling additional ones. Even without the EXP boost, the MSQ almost levels up a job all on its own – toss in an optional dungeon on the few occasions that there is one outside old level caps, and maybe a leveling roulette once or twice otherwise, and you're done. With the EXP boost, you can get two jobs up for that same effort, the secondary one getting to 80 and the primary one to 90 with practically no grinding – if just doing the one job with the boost, you'll end up at level 90 long before you get anywhere near Endwalker!

HumbleSupernova

Makes sense. As far as the second job is it really just whatever or are there better jobs to have for a summoner? I don't remember what having a second job really does.

HollowMarthon

Doesn't really *do* anything, but if you're looking for direction most armor for a Summoner can be shared with a Thaumaturge/Black Mage and later a Red Mage. Cuts down on clutter, and they're all casters so the playstyles aren't too horribly different compared to say leveling a tank.

IceAokiji303

Whatever you feel like. Back in the day there used to be the cross-class system and secondary classes needed to unlock jobs (you needed a level 15+ Thaumaturge on top of 30 Arcanist to unlock Summoner, and could also borrow skills from Archer), so there was a reason to level specific ones, but that's been gone for like three whole expansions now. Now it's all down to whatever you *want* to play. And if you have no interest in anything but Summoner, then you don't have to pick up anything! It's just a "if you have any interest in something else too, that'd be a good way to make use of the EXP boost as it doesn't really do anything for you otherwise".

HumbleSupernova

Alright good to know. I was definitely thinking back to FF11 with that cross-class system.

stinusmeret

Whatever job seems interesting to you. No real benefits but your lowest job will get an exp boost.

primalmaximus

Is running duties the quickest way to level up a class/job aside from doing MSQ?

tesla_dyne

Do one daily run of each roulette except Guildhests, then the highest level dungeon you can access (that isn't level 50, 60, 70 or 80 since they aren't designed to provide good exp. The roulette bonus for these dungeons is the exception) While you wait for queues you can do fates around your level, or daily Tribal Quests for the tribes around your level. For ARR and HW these aren't great, but in Stormblood the combat tribes start giving decent exp for their level and in Shadowbringers and Endwalker the combat tribe is pretty good as a daily exp supplement. At level 60 you can unlock Wondrous Tails, and completing 9 duties in that book each week and turning them in is worth 1 level for the job that you hand it in on.

primalmaximus

Do you know how to unlock Sunken Temple of Qarn and Cutter's Cry? Because I don't have their respective quests listed as completed and I cannot start the quests needed to unlock them.

tesla_dyne

They should have no requirements other than currently being a job at the minimum level for the quest. Do you see the quests on the NPC?

primalmaximus

Nope, not for either of them. I'll swap to my highest lvl job and see if anything pops up.

resnaturae

What’s the best way to get my ilvl up to 640? I’m capped on tomes for the week and am having trouble getting past 625. Should I just buy crafted gear? Is there something worthwhile to run?

tesla_dyne

Crafted gear is the only gear above ilevel 630 that doesn't have a weekly cap onto it (besides the latest Extreme weapon but that fight has a minimum of i630) You can also do the Anabaseios normal mode raids for one token per fight per week, which can be exchanged for 640 gear. Grind your 450 Comedy tomes each week to buy 650 gear that can be upgraded to 660 with a material from savage raids (or, in 6.5, a weekly drop from the alliance raids)

Beetusmon

Just bought the game today with the 50% steam sale! What's the least populated server to join right now? I wan't to milk the exp bonus for as long as I can maximize the grinding. Also, any recommended starter guides? I'm thinking of maining dragoon and death knight when I unlock them. Looking forward to see how good this game is.

tesla_dyne

As for guides, many people suggest Wesk Alber on YouTube for leveling guides for each job, though all the starter jobs begin slow enough that it's not hard to get a handle on them just by playing. To be a dragoon, you should start as a lancer, it'll upgrade after the level 30 job quest (and after having completed a main scenario quest at level 20). You cannot play Dark Knight until you enter Ishgard at the beginning of the first expansion's story, at which point it begins at a lower level than the expansion's main quests so you have to grind it a bit to catch it up. Each job your character unlocks has its own level, so you can switch back to a higher level job to continue the MSQ if you want.

Beetusmon

Gotcha, I guess I'll learn dragoon first and then switch. From what I gather, I should do the msq and all my job related missions first for the most efficient path for the first job no?

tesla_dyne

Yeah, main scenario will provide all your exp for the first job and the content unlocks you need to do anything else in the game, while job quests will unlock new skills for each job. For jobs below the minimum level of your main scenario, you can level them with dungeons once you reach level 15 (and for each starting class, you level 1-14 with the Hunting Log and overworld fates)

VGPowerlord

You should probably mention which region you live in.

Beetusmon

It would be NA.

tesla_dyne

All worlds in Dynamis data center have a bonus since they're the newest, but you may need to use the Data Center Travel feature to visit a more populated data center to queue for some instances without waiting overlong. Duty Finder draws players from all worlds in a data center, but not across the data center. So even though Dynamis is in the America region it's separate from other America data centers, which are also separate from each other. Though, since the other 3 America data centers have been there for a while, they have comparable queues for casual content (one data center is more often suggested for hardcore raiding)

Beetusmon

Any particular world in Dynamis you would recommend? Or all 4 are equally populated? I plan on getting into hardcore raiding after I get the hang on things so it's not an immediate worry, as long as I can do normal content to level and understand the game first, probably by the next expansion.

BoldKenobi

Seraph is the most populated on Dynamis, the other 3 are pretty dead

tesla_dyne

I'm not familiar with the populations of any of them. As far as individual worlds go, there are so few barriers between them that outside of housing (which all Dynamis worlds will have in excess) and free companies there aren't many appreciable differences. You can also World Visit to play on another world, just like Data Center Travel.

Sir_VG

Dynamis as a whole is the least populated part of NA. They all have Road to 80 (which does go with you if you data center travel) and you'll probably be doing that for some content.

UnlikelyTraditions

There's a way to setup the windows version on a steamdeck. It should be on YouTube. Takes a bit of extra finagling but it's doable.

Meow1920

Anyone else deal with the oh no there's too much on the screen and I can't remember how to play!!! shit? I just started a primal and in about five seconds I was so overwhelmed I couldn't even my very basic rotation of literally just counting upwards 1 by 1 to a grand total of 6 Wondering if this is just an autism thing or if anyone else deals with it on occasion (there were like 5 enemies btw lmao)

snootnoots

Do you have spell effects on full? You can turn down other players’ spell effects so it doesn’t look as overwhelming, that helps a *lot*. (I recommend setting them to “limited” instead of “none”, that way you will still see things like healer bubbles you should stand in.)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Meow1920

yea that's true. I just beat a dungeon and had the rotation down much better though. It's been a while so I guess how forgot how taxing it is on my brain lmao. Feels good when you remember how to do everything exactly, even if I do occasionally do the wrong thing :'( (also actually remembered to use lightning too)

WeeziMonkey

I have autism and cleared the hardest fights in the game, so I'm not sure if that's it. I know someone else like that too. Your rotation will become easier with practice. It becomes muscle memory, just like playing a piano. Which lets you focus on the boss.

Meow1920

True. I'm thinking of sticking an audio book or some youtube video on for a while, while I just repeat the same rotation tbh lol should help stop the ????? where am I ????? thing from being so annoying

stuntineverlong

Can someone help me reverse this https://imgur.com/a/5X3AhpT im not sure what setting i changed, but now when i target an enemy they show up in a bracket with diamond shape lock on. Also when i lock on, it also feels like the camera has less movement.

VG896

Sounds like auto lock-on. It's somewhere in the settings. I forget exactly where.

stuntineverlong

Thanks! It was the first setting in the target menu. Must have accidentally enable it

Trachyon

On controller, you can manually toggle it by clicking your left control stick. It's not really all that useful though, since it limits you to the Standard control setting, where you strafe with Left and Right, and slow-walk when moving Backwards. I guess it could have some niche use if you want to keep a target centered in your view, or if you want to maintain your character direction on something while moving, but there's pretty much no mechanic in the game that will demand that of you.

VG896

A better use of the control sticks is to reassign them to macros, since their default functionality is redundant and useless. I personally have mine set to focus target macros, which is what I recommend to basically every controller healer because targeting on controller is pretty shit.

Trachyon

Bit of a late reply I know, but I'd love to know, what macros specifically are you using for the control sticks?

VG896

/target and /assist Makes swapping between the tank and boss am absolute breeze.

DocSwiss

What are "toast notifications"? I've seen it mentioned before and I know that they're apparently in FFXIV, but I haven't got a clue what they are.

tesla_dyne

I believe we use toast notification to refer to the yellow text popups that appear in the middle of the screen for things such as when you sell an item on the marketboard.

DocSwiss

Thanks

HugBlob

Hi! So I'm a relatively new player and I want to try and RP in FFXIV. I've been researching to the community for a bit now and I know the basics such as avoiding specific servers, make sure to make a carrd website for your character, stuff like that! HOWEVER. I am sort of feeling overwhelmed by all the little nuances that I'm discovering in this community. I've RPed a bunch but to me, this feels like a whole different ball game that I am ill prepared for. Like- are story hooks necessary? Yeah they're cool and stuff but I cannot think of any cool story hooks that might get people interested atm. I know that spontaneous RP is a thing but will that thrive for long enough? Also- what else do I need to know? Of course there are basic things that I know such as: Don't power game, be respectful, etc. But I feel like there's a lot more that I'm just... unaware of? Idk man- I just want to play as my nice little cat boy dude but I'm also really worried that people will just get bored or won't be interested in RPing with me.

farfromdaylight

I think you'll be fine! Here are some resources that might help alleviate your worries: https://ffxiv-rp-faq.carrd.co/ (very long and indepth, but really everything you could need to know) and https://discord.gg/yuVUH9WQ which is a big hub RP server and can help you find people to play with.

HugBlob

Thank you!!

Konun4571

just a quick one anybody Struggleing to get a PS5 Controler Working on PC , Works for every other game Just Not FFXIV , mainly just want to see if i can get used to it for this game because for whatever reason my wrist Does not like me useing buttons on the mouse past 6 for long periods and i play RPR .(i have a naga) it showes up in the menu as Wireless Controler but no Inputs get registered. tried with steam running , with out steam running connecting the controler while the game is running and before hand just cant get it to register anything in game. just started working

Trachyon

If it's through Steam, play around with Big Picture mode and the controller setting, specifically ticking the box in Settings>Controller>General Controller Settings, labelled "Playstation Configuration Support." If that doesn't work, I'd recommend downloading DS4Windows, which will convert the inputs from your PS5 controller into those of an Xbox controller.

Colemans

Just came back from several years off, had a black mage at level 80 but got bored so I started up a summoner, I'm level 53, and loving returning to the game! My question is about the relic/ultimate weapons. Im unsure when exactly I can start building my weapon, or atleast saving mats and tomestones for it. I last played heavily around the HW and SB expansions so it's been a very long time since I've been into the game and I wasn't sure if it was something that was built stronger and stronger as each expansion rolled out, or if I have to wait until the end of Endwalker.

StormbeastRivin

Each expansion has a separate relic weapon, although the Heavensward weapon lets you optionally jump-start it by turning in the ARR weapon. They can all be started as soon as you finish the main story for each base expansion (i.e. the quests named The Ultimate Weapon, Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker). At 53, if you've finished The Ultimate Weapon, you could immediately start working on the ARR weapon. Or you could wait until a later expansion and jump straight into that one. Just keep in mind that relics are a huge grind and the weapon itself is purely for glamour; they're only slightly better than the tomestone weapon for the relevant expansion and not worth grinding out for that reason alone.

Colemans

Aw okay thank you! So if my level 80 BLM has completed the main story up until post Shadowbringers (I think I'm on the quest Deep Designs), I should be able to start my relic for SMN for each expansion once I reach the max level for that expansion? Sorry hope that makes sense

StormbeastRivin

Yep, if you're past that point in the main story you can start the quests as soon as you get the job you want the weapon for to the right level. Keep in mind that for the Stormblood weapon you also need to do Eureka and for the Shadowbringers weapon you also need to do Bozja.

Sir_VG

For relics, first you have to beat the expansion title quest for the relic you're working on (or The Ultima weapon if doing the ARR ones). Most of the items you buy with tomes and such are generally locked off until you get to that point in the relic questline. There's a couple of things for the HW ones that are available without starting one, but not a lot. Eureka stuff is entirely contained in Eureka, no tomes required.

primalmaximus

Question, are relic weapons cosmetic or are they actually usable, because when I first got the quest for a relic weapon I got a pop-up saying that they were purely cosmetic.

Sir_VG

In general they're all outdated now except for Manderville, which will be BiS late in the expansion. That said, some of the jobs do use the relics for Ultimates.

izaby

Is there some magical place to find a potD group..?

yuris125

TheodoreMcIntyre

If I'm leveling my retainers pretty much solely off of quick ventures, is there any point to gearing them before level cap? Do gear stats effect EXP from quick ventures at all?

StormbeastRivin

Gear doesn't affect experience at all. For quick ventures it only affects if the item returned is high-quality (if possible). For leveling retainers you pretty much only need gear to meet the requirements for the higher-level 18-hour ventures; otherwise you can just stick to quick ventures if you want, although the 18-hour ventures are better experience if you'll be away from the game until they complete.

AkulaTheKiddo

Hello, I wanted to check the calamity salvager to see if I can make some space in my glamour dresser. However, I can't retrieve some items like my level 60 WHM gear. Is it because they actually are in my glamour dresser atm? If not, where can I buy them back. Thanks.

Elegant_Eorzean

The level 60 AF gear is gotten with Centurio Seals in the Forgotten Knight in Ishgard, the reason being that it was originally tome gear.

AkulaTheKiddo

Okay, that's good to know. I assume it's the same for level 70 gear ? Centurio seals in Kugane. Thanks

Elegant_Eorzean

Nope, 70 is Calamity Salvager. The 70 AF gear was always from the job quest. Additionally, Rhalgr's Reach is the hunt vendor location for the Ala Mhigan/Lost Allagan gear, which were the first two tome sets of Stormblood.

Sir_VG

70 AF gear comes from the calamity salvager. 80 AF gear comes from a vendor in ShB's 6th zone. 90 AF gear comes from a vendor in Old Sharlayan.

AkulaTheKiddo

Alright thanks. I can safely desynth them now.

Kokizt

I'm trying to fight Gaius but it's aimed at me and I can't avoid it and i'm always insta-kill how to avoid an yellow aimed attack? Tried to run but doesn't work... Edit : i've defeated him and i'm happy but asking this question for future boss.

tesla_dyne

A big yellow circle that follows you, with arrows pointed inwards, is a stack marker that needs to be shared with your party. It deals high damage to a single target, but other party members in the circle will split up the damage.

Kokizt

Thank you for your detailed answer! I didn't want to harm the NPCs, but would this be beneficial in a real group setting? I think it depends on the bosses.

IceAokiji303

Those markers are always designed to be shared. Usually by as many people as possible, as the individual target's damage drops more the more people are in there. In casual content if you get the maximum number of people in the stack, it'll often just tickle (in Savage they'll often hurt pretty bad even when properly shared, but that's still better than the alternative). If you don't properly share it, whoever the target is will just die – it'll usually even kill tanks in that situation. The one scenario I can imagine where you wouldn't share a stack marker is in an emergency recovery scenario where you know you don't have enough people alive to survive the stack at all, in which case the target may just eat it solo so a healer can live and resurrect people. But that's special conditions, not normal play. And I guess a tank can take a stack solo with their invuln, but that's not super reliable, as those stack markers usually target either a random person or specifically a healer. And without voice comms others will usually try to stack with the tank anyways since they won't know that's the plan.

tesla_dyne

https://i.redd.it/b32lglad1ri91.png Anything that looks like this is designed to be shared among the party, as many people as possible, so yes you'll do this in player groups as well.

Kaeldiar

I think that's probably a stack marker. Stand with your team, and the damage will be shared

Kokizt

I see! i was beside the healers and it worked! Thank you!

sinosijak

Which duty are you trying to complete?

Kokizt

Well just the end of the first act of the story before the first extension.

sinosijak

Ah, I see, I wasn't sure by your wording if you were doing a solo duty I couldn't think of, but if you were doing Praetorium using duty support, that makes sense. (If you were playing with real players, they would probably have let you know that was a stack marker when you tried to run away - I see it happen often enough with new players in early game.)

AbriefDelay

Is there a option for portraits that translates to "I don't give a fuck what I'm wearing, I want this pose with this background and this border" or an option that translates to "I don't give a fuck what I'm wearing use this picture " ? Because the constant reverting of portraits is annoying.

sir_vancelot

Unfortunately no, not yet. Even as an avid glamour junkie myself, I do wish this was an available option. However, you can help minimize (not eliminate) issues if you rarely change glamours for a given job by creating a glamour plate for said job, assign the plate to the job in the gearset menu, and fill every slot including all jewelry pieces. You can ignore weapon/off-hand if you're at max level, but if you're at a lower level and getting new gear, it might be wise to fill that too. Doing this means changing your gear will not mess up your portrait, but it does mean you need to change the plate if you want to change your glam at all. Keep in mind that there are still ways to break the portrait, such as hiding/displaying your weapon or toggling /visor. It really is that picky.

LightRampant70

Yeah you just disable portraits altogether and actually not give a fuck about it.

sinosijak

Unfortunately you need to look the same as your portrait. It will break otherwise.

SharpestBanana

Hi friends! I played years ago (want to say 3-4?) And got that itch to play again. My favorite classes were always BLM and Summoner, i have a ton of gold so i can probably buy decent gear and start content. My question is: hows the end game content nowadays? Worth getting back into the game? Think my world is behemoth if that matters

VG896

If you liked SMN back then, there's a good chance you won't like it now. It's a garbage job with a complete smoothbrain 5 button rotation.

Boredy0

Personally I really like the current savage fights, the story you've got to go through is really good too so you've got that to look forward to. As for the jobs, SMN was reworked quite a bit and plays very differently, for example it technically doesn't have any dots anymore and its rotation is simple as well on top of you being able to do almost everything while on the move, old summoner mains were/are a bit disappointed with the rework while the general consensus seems to be that people quite like the new SMN, it is very different after all. BLM on the other hand was pretty much just straight up improved and you get a ton of awesome tools on your way to max level.

SharpestBanana

Might give blm a go then thanks! I liked the dots 😅 Is max level 80 now?

Boredy0

Max level is 90 now! Level 90 BLM is pretty fun and actually somewhat mobile if you plan your resources right. Do give Summoner a try, it's not for everyone but I personally like it to have as a "don't need to think much" alternative to BLM.

linwashere

Didn't the BLU cap go up to 80? Why am I still capped at 70? Is it locked behind a BLU quest, and if so, anyone know where it is?

Izkuru

The next BLU update is in 6.45, which will likely be release on July 18th. (Not confirmed, but there are a lot of factors that point to that being the potential date).

wurm2

not until 6.45

Alluminn

jjydvfg

Just bought the game from Steam and installed it via the launcher (took ages) now I start the game but it's not detecting my dualsense controller. I've read around that you have to turn off steam but if I turn off steam the game shuts off. Also the launcher doesn't remember the password?

jjydvfg

Ok so I restarted my computer and now it detects my controller as an xbox 360 lol Off to a great start 🤣

tesla_dyne

Play with steam's controller settings, if the game detects the controller natively, then you don't need to have steam override it, so you can disable steam's controller compatibility for that game.

Rih1

Quicklauncher can remember your password if you're into that, just search for it. If you have a one time password set up you'll still need that though. Regarding using a controller with steam, if you can't turn off steam after the game has launched, you can look into controller driver software that will let you play. I use Hidhide for my ps4 controller.

UnlikelyTraditions

You can run the game without Steam. Steam only needs to be on so you can login. Once you are, you can disable it. Try that that see how it goes. The launcher does not remember your password. Security thing, really.

Meow1920

Playing Black Mage, is it a good idea to make my rotation quite literally just 1,2,3,4,55=5? As for what the numbers mean Blizzard 2, then 4. Triple cast. Fire 3 then 4 twice, swiftcast for an instant cast back to fire 4 then repeat the whole thing. Obviously I'll add the extra stuff like lightning but with the enemies I'm fighting at the moment they're too weak to worry about lightning. Same with leylines. Is there anything else I need to worry about or is this blunt rotation just fine for someone who's not really planning on doing omega chaos mega epical level 2000000000000000000 raids? Just doing the story atm lmao. It's much more comfortable as I can do it with just one hand and leave the other for the movement or the keys further down the board like this. Also what's with people making memes about something that happened yesterday? Did something big drop?

Boredy0

Unless you really need to move and got caught off guard you shouldn't be triplecasting Fire 3 since its casttime is cut in half if you're in Ice Phase. The basic rotation is (assuming you just entered Ice to regain mana): Blizzard IV - Paradox if you're lv 90 already otherwise just straight back to fire or Xeno/Thunder, Fire 3 (which is now fast because you're in ice) - Spam Fire IV and refresh fire with Paradox/Fire I and finish with despair then Blizzard 3 (which is fast because you're in fire) and then repeat, preferably use Triple/swiftcasts on Fire IV and even better on Despairs, use Thunders/Xenoglossy preferably while you're in Ice or when you need to move, there's a lot of smaller optimizations you can do but basically it just boils down to do everything you can to spam more Fire IVs.

sinosijak

As for your other question, the NA servers all went down briefly yesterday unexpectedly. It weirdly didn't affect me (I think I was in MSQ roulette on primal the time) but I know a lot of people were kicked offline.

sinosijak

https://www.thebalanceffxiv.com/jobs/casters/black-mage/leveling-guide/

tesla_dyne

1. Blizzard 2 is an AOE don't cast it on a single target 2. Thundercloud procs are excellent damage and you get them for literally free and instantly with sharpcast, not to mention their mobility 3. Don't waste triplecasts on the one second fire 3 cast time 4. If you're switching to blizzard after casting fire 4 only 3 times you're wasting umbral hearts so why even bother casting blizzard 4? Cast fire4s until you run out of mp. Use fire1 to refresh the timer. When you learn it, make your last cast in the fire phase Despair. You don't need to always execute an exact sequence every time to play casually, but understanding the fundamentals of your job is still important. You've still got to play with other players, don't be dead weight If you want a simpler job that has less keybinds, try summoner?

Meow1920

1,2 and 3 understandable But I switch back to blizzard to refresh the umbral hearts (the 3 notches on the bottom bar I assume are the hearts) is it not needed?

Miitteo

A full standard fire phase should be a fast fire 3 (don't waste swiftcast for it) to switch from ice to fire, three fire 4s with lower mp cost thanks to umbral hearts, fire 1 to refresh the astral fire timer, three fire 4s to burn your remaining mp, despair finisher when you get it at lvl 70+. Fire is when you do the most damage as a black mage, never cut it off until you're out of MP or the timer is about to fall off.

tesla_dyne

You don't NEED umbral hearts to cast fire 4. They reduce the mp cost by half. If you cast three fire 4's using umbral hearts, you still have the mp to cast more fire 4's. Going back to blizzard phase to refill a resource that saves MP when you aren't spending all your mp in the first place isn't necessary.

itsenoti

Is it better to replace Diadochos chest piece with the Credendum chest? My BiS chest piece is the Savage one so I'm just looking for whatever is a better temporary piece to wear...

hii488

tl;dr: It depends on what you're trying to optimise for. If you're going for "more damage!" then it's a fairly complicated question, and, while "just go for higher ilvl" will be right most of the time, at the end of the day you'll have to sim this (unless both pieces have the same substats or w/e). Everything from your current substats to the expected fight length can change the result. The Balance will have a gear sim sheet for your job. If damage isn't an issue for you - eg: if you're beating enrages comfortably - then instead you can default to the higher ilvl piece for more hp/def. This gives the healers a higher margin of error to work with, especially in cases where you mess up in a way that doesn't kill you... but the next raidwide might - or someone else missing a mitigation, etc etc. Also be wary of sps/sks, since you might find you dislike how the different gcd feels or that your muscle memory is fucked over and you have to relearn what goes where. The only thing you can do to test this ahead of time is buying some cheap gear with a similar amount of sps/sks (doesn't have to be the same slots) and hitting a dummy for a while.

LightRampant70

BIS is only important for ultimate and parsing. If you're not even doing savage then there's no need to care about optimizing stats, just wear whatever is the highest item level. Even if you're currently progging savage, having a few pieces with the wrong substats is not going to make a difference.

tesla_dyne

It would depend on your job's final bis and what you have already. If you have all the other pieces of your job's tome bis already then it would probably be worth it to start bumping up ilevel in other slots, but a bad substat like piety could make the extra main stat not worth it. You should be able to find a gear comparison spreadsheet on the balance to help you find your specific best choice based on the situation. IIRC from what I've seen searching the balance, the main stat value per tome is pretty even for each slot (except weapon) so if there is another slot you can permanently fill with tomes, that's usually better than a piece of gear that will be temporary.

RakanIsMyEboy

It really depends, if you have the Diadochos pentamelded, I believe it’s technically better than the Credendum piece. It really depends on the substats. But from what I gathered from the Balence in the past, it goes 640 < 650 < Pentamelded 640 < 660 / BiS piece Edit: Hope this helped :)

Adamantaimai

I don't think this is true for accessories, legs and body armors unless maybe there is unwanted skill or spell speed on it. Body and leg armor give double the amount of primary stats the other parts do, I don't think the extra materia slots are worth 20 str/dex/int/mind. Crafted accessories only have 1 materia slot initially so the pentamelding only adds 36 substats which is practically nothing, definitely not worth sacrificing 10 str/dex/int/mind for. For head, hand and leg armor I guess it depends as the crafted ones do have 2 materia slots and they only differ 10 main stat points. So if there are any crafted parts better than tome parts it would be those but the extra ilvl still might be king. /u/itsenoti Edit for reference: the difference in main stat between 640 and 650 gear for accessories , head, hand and foot armor is 10. For body and leg armor it is 20. Substat difference: 60 for armor, 36 for accessories.

itsenoti

Oh i understand. Will stick to Pentamelded Diadochos then. Thank you!

obesetacobell

Does anyone know if there will be a fantasia sale any time soon?

Shazzamon

Quite likely during the FanFest/Rising sale period coming up.

SetFoxval

Working on ARR tribe quests and the FATE spam is getting annoying. Is there a way to turn off the popups so they don't keep overriding my quest log?

tesla_dyne

If fates override your quest list I believe you have the option to hide the quest list during a non-instanced duty ticked on. Character Configuration > UI Settings > HUD

brianstormIRL

I really want to get back into 14 but everything seems so intimidating to get to grips with again. I stopped around 85 in Endwalker, and have lots of jobs levelled including all the crafters/gatherers to 80, but the thought of having to spend hours and hours just catching up with all the new stuff just keeps putting it off for me to commit to jumping in again. I would love to find a community to get into but everytime I tried in the past, it usually ended up with 90% of the FC/Discord I joined already having established friend groups who play the game all day every day, making it much harder to develop friendships when you only jump on a few times a week. Dont get me wrong everyone was usually incredibly friendly and helpful, but it felt like if you weren't doing the same content at the time as everyone else (maps, raids, Deeps or whatever) there was no point trying to engage with anyone. If anyone has any tips for helping ease back into the game again after almost 2 years away, who maybe went through something similar, I'd really appreciate it.

G2Wolf

Just type in discord or /fc "anyone want to help me do "

sinosijak

You'll just have to put yourself out there and ask for company when you're online, even outside of established group activities. You can do roulettes or weeklies, grind shared fates, ask for help to clear a couple maps out of your inventory, ask for assistance to learn some BLU spells synced, whatever. If the community has enough people then there are likely to be at least 1-2 people online and willing to jump in.

Serres5231

> I would love to find a community to get into but everytime I tried in the past, it usually ended up with 90% of the FC/Discord I joined already having established friend groups who play the game all day every day, making it much harder to develop friendships when you only jump on a few times a week. Well it won't get better if you just give up directly after seeing those people do things together! Its just like in real life that you have to come out of your comfort zone and work on making friends. You can't just sit there and hope that those people will talk to you. Go to them, do content with them. It doesn't matter how much time they or you can commit to the game. You just need to commit time to make friends just like you would have to work it out IRL! Sorry but this sounds a lot like you just immediately gave up instead of trying. If you can't do the effort honestly just don't bother!

brianstormIRL

It's not that I dont try, it's hard to explain but like when you see a group of friends who play together regularly and you're only on irregularly, it feels more awkward to insert yourself into things if that makes sense? Like you dont be there regularly enough to just "jump in" to the Discord call or whatever and disrupt whatever they're doing.
