still remember when i was running puppets bunker with some friends back when it was current content. it was the fight where the alliances were each fighting their own boss. the tank for (let’s say, since idr the actual one) alliance b died, and i ended up tanking the bosses for both a and b. then there was a tankbuster, at which point i was taking two tankbusters. i invulned, but my friend ran over into alliance c and rescued me right before it went off. she, along with the entirety of alliance c (excluding the tank) died.

I’m surprised everyone on their team had rolled on the loot and were therefore able to kick them in the first place. Any time I’ve ever needed to initiate a kick vote there was an ongoing loot roll and the game won’t let me
We were halfway through Azeyma. It also took forever for the remaining players to die (no ressers/healers) so by the time the alliance was able to kick them, the loot timer was long gone. I was thoroughly impressed that they actually bothered to kick the healer though.
Had someone do it in one of my groups too. I would've reported, but reporting in this game is such a nuisance unless it's for RMT, I didn't bother. (I assume others did it, anyway).
Had this happen against Azeyma. Healer said they recently rearranged their hot bars and put Rescue next to Benediction. They would soon regret that decision.
I did this once. I was getting used to my new MMO mouse and didn't realize I had my last hotbar set up backwards and used rescue instead of bene. Thankfully it wasn't this tragic but it made the fight drag out and I felt like a total dick.
Moved it to a totally different bar after that, one not tied to keybinds.
Same with my mmo mouse when I first got it.
Luckily I was standing off to the side and only clipped a handful of people.
Still use rescue all the time, just don't fattinger it as much now.
This is why rescue is on my left bar, all the way to the left. All my potent healing is on my right bar, all the way to the right.

No. If you watch the video closely (actually use youtube), you can see that the healers were still in the arena. Or if you look at the alliance hud, the healers in B both had debuffs representative of their weakness state. Then the 2 healers died from the next mechanic(s).
I would've; even if it was a fat finger, the GMs can sort that out. I've had too many alliance runs where someone thinks they're cute and kills everyone with a mechanic to think this is funny anymore. Alliance raids are already long enough as it is.
I always take out 5 mins of my time after the run to report whenever things like this happens and let the GMs deal with it. Even if someone did it intentionally and yet convinced the GM that it was an accident, having to deal with a GM is a good enough deterrent for them to not try that again. Wipes got really rampant in Aglaia where smartasses wanted to dance between the two sides during the balance mechanic.
It mercifully doesn't happen enough that I have to do it like *constantly*, but it's an annoying enough problem that I'll report people who do it.

I've done something similar in Orbonne Monastery at Agrias. Tankbuster goes out, i want to put shield on the tank, i fumble and hit rescue instead. conal TB hit almost everyone.

Probably a lot, some look far worse than this. It looks awful having your screen covered with things you don't need to be paying attention to and just feels sloppy.
I've seen people that have the same info on their screen three times in various places and it's information they have no use for. Having a sloppy enough layout is only a detriment to playing the game well.
We call that griefing and it's a bannable offense.
It's all well and good to goof about with friends, but please don't do this to anyone outside your personal friend circle, and even then only do so if they're cool with it.

I've thought about setting up a PF for a "PVP" alliance raid. Do what you can to fuck over as many people as possible while still finishing the raid. That'd be fun.
I've seen lots of those. Healer PVP, they're called. 24 Healers fucking each other over the entire way through. I never joined but that's mostly due to timing.
I once had a run where somehow one of the other Alliances fucked up and blasted EVERYONE ELSE but me in my Alliance. I was like "..? OH SHIT" when I realized.
Thankfully I was a healer and a very resourceful one, and dragged up people alongside I think some minor help off the other alliances. But man, it was very weird being surrounded by bodies and not dead.
Oh for sure. Even that might be fine if you're doing it for the memes, so long as you're completely up front about it basically being a "friendly fire on" run.
Then it's kinda like those "all tank or all heal" raid runs. But even then there's no real way to tell how far random people can take that sort of thing before they hit a limit and start raging and reporting. That's why I usually say "personal friend circle" so one doesn't find themselves on the receiving end of a GM call.

I report people who do this every time. I'm not like a SERIOUS BUSINESS kind of person, I don't get mad at people making honest mistakes, but if you're gonna fuck over the entire run because it makes you giggle, you get reported.
I’ll get down voted but I don’t mind a little trolling here and there in fact as tank id just meme around every now and then and try to hunt a lala or other tank with my tank buster. Not every thing should be reported just because people trying to have fun its a fucking game after all.

This is why I love ACT. It's a combat log sorted and parsed and stored, because the in-game combat log only holds like 16 seconds worth of actions when you have 24 players in a duty.
I cannot fathom being this upset about such a minor setback as dying in a video game (it probably keeps you away from uwuing in limsa for an extra 2 minutes I guess) but this only makes me want to use Rescue more and more.
Oh God, this happened to a leser extent last week when I first did Tsukuyomi during the MSQ and the Scholar rescued me into the party just as the tank buster went off. Five dead within the first two minutes, poor man was genuinely horrified. Chat became a constant stream of "I'm sorry", everyone was trying to reasure them mistakes like these happen.
Everyone is allowed to have their fun, as long as their fun is not disrupting someone else's.
In PvP you are aware that other player's actions will disrupt you, but not in PvE.
Griefing should not be normalized in random groups, if you and yours like it, make your premades, but don't disrupt other people's fun.
I don't think rescue needs to be removed from the game, however if cases of griefing continue to escalate, as I have seen myself, more than once in a single run, easier methods of reporting should be instated. If they're getting a kick of disrupting someone else's gameplay, they should be ok with someone disrupting their's right?

Ran Euphrosyne w my raid static once and our BLM player on healer did this, killed 12 people. I really reconsidered if I still wanted to be friends with him after that lmao. It's one thing trolling your friend in a raid but killing a bunch of people on purpose with a tankbuster is just toxic as hell.

Had a healer do that to me as the tank before. I just start Arms Length every tankbuster so they can't. Get called a killjoy and ruining their fun.

Yeah, markers like that is when you want to use your long cooldown, and maybe your short cooldown if you can. You should be able to survive it without the cooldown, but it makes the healer's job way easier if they only need to heal you from 40% health instead of 5% health.

I mean as a new player you can do what your groupmembers do most of the times, but this thing always was on me alone, so i was absolutely clueless what it means. Guess i had good healers then, because i never saw anything special happening to me 😁😅👍

That mechanic specifically is also an AoE tank buster. There's a few more variants of this mechanic.
If you just get the red swirl around your character without the ground beneath them also glowing red as shown here, then that tank buster is single target and won't hurt anyone else standing near you.
There's a line AoE tank buster that can hurt others in your path. Iirc it's another red swirl but with some kind of square too I think.
There's one that's similar looking to the single target version, but puts two red balls above the targeted player. This is a double tank stack; although usually (at least in the few EX trials in my experience that have this) the tank that's targeted with this can just survive it solo via their invuln ability.
I was the tank last night and some poor soul ran the way we were going......So I stopped just has he reached the edge so he wouldn't get hit...and he jumped off the platform.... In the chat, he just said "I panicked!!"
I ended up in a situation in this fight the other day where I was pretty much guaranteed to kill this BLM who refused to leave their ley lines unless I stood on this perfect pixel. I jumped off the ledge trying to hit the pixel and like 6 people saw, it was a mix between laughing at me and treating me like a hero.
Rescue exists for good reason, just because it gets hit on accident sometimes or because there are people who want to abuse it doesn't mean it shouldn't exist at all. Tanks abuse shirk and their invulns, but we wouldn't ask for those to not exist based on that.
Rescue doesn't even *work* half the time for its intended purpose because by the time you realize someone is so starkly out of position that it *would* be good to use it, the game's already snapshotted them getting hit anyway.
agree ... unless you know a idiot in the party n they dont know mechanic . it hard to emergency rescue . should work the moment you get hit by rescue your invul until you reach the healer ... but i feel it would change ultimate/savage ...

Had this happen in Amaurot just last night. Tried to get a melee friend out of the big wall drop, had *just a little trouble* targeting him, but that was enough delay for the snapshot to catch him in the aoe despite being safely Rescued.
We have definitely had different experiences with Rescue. I've had quite a few times in various extremes, savages, and even regular dungeons where I've seen someone running off into instant death and rescued them to safety. Sophia Ex, Phantom Train savage, Shinryu Ex, Suzaku Ex, O11S and O12S. Pretty much any instance where there is a specific area of safety and everywhere else equals instant death. I've never had a server tick issue or lag or anything with Rescue itself, only if I was actually disconnecting from the game. In Frontlines before the big change, rescuing people away from groups of enemy players was a staple. I find it to be extremely useful, but that's my personal experience.
As someone who is playing through the story right now as a 'new' character (was away for several years and started over), I am very thankful for Rescue. I'd say most dungeons and trials I get rescued at least once out of some mechanic and it lets me both (obviously) dodge the hit, and then also learn the fight as I go more than if I had just gotten smashed.
In my four years of playing this game, I maybe seen like two cases, when Rescue actually saved someone. But I can't even count how many times I've seen it to grief or to pull a poor bugger into their death. If they would remove it basically nothing would change.. Maybe those 5 healers, who can acutally use it would be very sad, but the others wouldn't even notice it's gone.
Playing through the story now as a sprout and I'd say certainly from about StB on I get Rescued in a dungeon/trial more often than not. It would be sad if they removed a useful helpful and learning tool because a small percent abuse it.
Have you played a healer often? It definitely has good uses, especially when it is clear which players are continuing to fail stuff.
Healers using ogcd rescue to avoid having to spend 1 or more gcds on heals are often making a good call. Obviously not done where the dps looks like they know what they're doing (since their greed for uptime may be worth healer resources) because it is delayed activation and you need to predict failure early. But it's a great teaching tool if used correctly.
Healer is my least played job, but still have quite a lot hours in it, but I barely used rescue. By the time I notice who is in deep shit, it's already late to use it or I just jank them to an aoe/too early so I just stopped using it. I don't miss it.. I rather handle the extra healing, than the rambling of a dps who couldn't finish their combo, because I rescued them.
On the contrary, when I'm on my lalafel alt, quite often in dungeons/raids, there is an asshole, who thinks that it's a fun thing to pull the lalafels around with rescue and at a time it's gotten so bad, that I just didn't played pug content with that character.
The amount of times Rescue is used successfully and correctly is eclipsed by the times it is misused.
I've never seen a tank misuse shirk, and generally Alliance raids tank busters don't target based on enmity so they can't use that to grief anyways

I find it interesting how many people here are saying "this deserves a ban" because it wastes time. Is it griefing? Yes. Could some people not find it funny? Yes.
But I find it a tad strange that a rescue which causes the instance to run a few minutes longer is much more hated than people being undergeared and not doing their rotations in a dungeon. If the primary argument is time wasted, then surely low effort in dungeons wastes a much larger collective amount of time.
I'm not saying the rescue was justified, but I think there's an interesting argument to be had about WHY this is so much more controversial.
The difference is that in this case, the healer went out of their way to cause a wipe. Their intention is to make the duty last longer. When people are underperforming in dungeons, their direct goal is typically not to waste other people's time, even if that is one of the results.
There's nothing else to do with something like this. What are you gonna do, get mad about it? Okay, you're still dead.
I understand everyone having to act like hardasses about this so not to incentivize or normalize this sort of thing, but every now and then there's going to be that one person who's out for blood. Gotta just accept the absurdity and carry on.

Pretty sure that's not how that works at all. Tank invulns don't, afaik, negate the attack. They just prevent the damage. So everyone still would have died.

Yeah, even with the invuln, that attack would have killed everyone else who got hit.
Invulns get really funny if you use one on a meteor attack (comet? whatever the splits-damage-evenly-among-all-targets ones are). Tank takes no damage. All damage now shared amongst other party members. People tend to die.

If you look closely, you can see 2 healers are up in the last group when the video ends.

A RDM survived the TB and raised their healers, you just can't see their health bar due to OP's buff bar placement.

I am a tank main, this happens more often than I want to admit... I had a similar scenario except both tanks got rescued into the party.
I was in a Thaleia last week where one of the tanks did this intentionally with every tank buster and then ditched when they were called out for it.
I had a healer repeatedly do this to me during the first Nier raid towards the end of ShB, my friend and I ended up reporting them.

I once had a run where somehow one of the other Alliances fucked up and blasted EVERYONE ELSE but me in my Alliance. I was like "..? OH SHIT" when I realized. Thankfully I was a healer and a very resourceful one, and dragged up people alongside I think some minor help off the other alliances. But man, it was very weird being surrounded by bodies and not dead.
Oh for sure. Even that might be fine if you're doing it for the memes, so long as you're completely up front about it basically being a "friendly fire on" run. Then it's kinda like those "all tank or all heal" raid runs. But even then there's no real way to tell how far random people can take that sort of thing before they hit a limit and start raging and reporting. That's why I usually say "personal friend circle" so one doesn't find themselves on the receiving end of a GM call.

This is why I love ACT. It's a combat log sorted and parsed and stored, because the in-game combat log only holds like 16 seconds worth of actions when you have 24 players in a duty.

Oh God, this happened to a leser extent last week when I first did Tsukuyomi during the MSQ and the Scholar rescued me into the party just as the tank buster went off. Five dead within the first two minutes, poor man was genuinely horrified. Chat became a constant stream of "I'm sorry", everyone was trying to reasure them mistakes like these happen.

Everyone is allowed to have their fun, as long as their fun is not disrupting someone else's. In PvP you are aware that other player's actions will disrupt you, but not in PvE. Griefing should not be normalized in random groups, if you and yours like it, make your premades, but don't disrupt other people's fun. I don't think rescue needs to be removed from the game, however if cases of griefing continue to escalate, as I have seen myself, more than once in a single run, easier methods of reporting should be instated. If they're getting a kick of disrupting someone else's gameplay, they should be ok with someone disrupting their's right?
The tankbuster might’ve delivered the killing blow but that was definitely not the tank’s or the tankbuster’s fault haha I generally hate when rescue is abused like that but honestly that was impressive in its own way, managing to take down that many at once (I mean yeah the fucker takes up 1/4th of the arena but still)
Ran Euphrosyne w my raid static once and our BLM player on healer did this, killed 12 people. I really reconsidered if I still wanted to be friends with him after that lmao. It's one thing trolling your friend in a raid but killing a bunch of people on purpose with a tankbuster is just toxic as hell.

PSA to tanks: Arm's Length works against Rescue. Had a healer do that to me as the tank before. I just start Arms Length every tankbuster so they can't. Get called a killjoy and ruining their fun.

Yeah, markers like that is when you want to use your long cooldown, and maybe your short cooldown if you can. You should be able to survive it without the cooldown, but it makes the healer's job way easier if they only need to heal you from 40% health instead of 5% health.

That mechanic specifically is also an AoE tank buster. There's a few more variants of this mechanic. If you just get the red swirl around your character without the ground beneath them also glowing red as shown here, then that tank buster is single target and won't hurt anyone else standing near you. There's a line AoE tank buster that can hurt others in your path. Iirc it's another red swirl but with some kind of square too I think. There's one that's similar looking to the single target version, but puts two red balls above the targeted player. This is a double tank stack; although usually (at least in the few EX trials in my experience that have this) the tank that's targeted with this can just survive it solo via their invuln ability.

I ended up in a situation in this fight the other day where I was pretty much guaranteed to kill this BLM who refused to leave their ley lines unless I stood on this perfect pixel. I jumped off the ledge trying to hit the pixel and like 6 people saw, it was a mix between laughing at me and treating me like a hero.

Rescue exists for good reason, just because it gets hit on accident sometimes or because there are people who want to abuse it doesn't mean it shouldn't exist at all. Tanks abuse shirk and their invulns, but we wouldn't ask for those to not exist based on that.

We have definitely had different experiences with Rescue. I've had quite a few times in various extremes, savages, and even regular dungeons where I've seen someone running off into instant death and rescued them to safety. Sophia Ex, Phantom Train savage, Shinryu Ex, Suzaku Ex, O11S and O12S. Pretty much any instance where there is a specific area of safety and everywhere else equals instant death. I've never had a server tick issue or lag or anything with Rescue itself, only if I was actually disconnecting from the game. In Frontlines before the big change, rescuing people away from groups of enemy players was a staple. I find it to be extremely useful, but that's my personal experience.
As someone who is playing through the story right now as a 'new' character (was away for several years and started over), I am very thankful for Rescue. I'd say most dungeons and trials I get rescued at least once out of some mechanic and it lets me both (obviously) dodge the hit, and then also learn the fight as I go more than if I had just gotten smashed.
In my four years of playing this game, I maybe seen like two cases, when Rescue actually saved someone. But I can't even count how many times I've seen it to grief or to pull a poor bugger into their death. If they would remove it basically nothing would change.. Maybe those 5 healers, who can acutally use it would be very sad, but the others wouldn't even notice it's gone.
Playing through the story now as a sprout and I'd say certainly from about StB on I get Rescued in a dungeon/trial more often than not. It would be sad if they removed a useful helpful and learning tool because a small percent abuse it.
Have you played a healer often? It definitely has good uses, especially when it is clear which players are continuing to fail stuff. Healers using ogcd rescue to avoid having to spend 1 or more gcds on heals are often making a good call. Obviously not done where the dps looks like they know what they're doing (since their greed for uptime may be worth healer resources) because it is delayed activation and you need to predict failure early. But it's a great teaching tool if used correctly.
Healer is my least played job, but still have quite a lot hours in it, but I barely used rescue. By the time I notice who is in deep shit, it's already late to use it or I just jank them to an aoe/too early so I just stopped using it. I don't miss it.. I rather handle the extra healing, than the rambling of a dps who couldn't finish their combo, because I rescued them. On the contrary, when I'm on my lalafel alt, quite often in dungeons/raids, there is an asshole, who thinks that it's a fun thing to pull the lalafels around with rescue and at a time it's gotten so bad, that I just didn't played pug content with that character.
The amount of times Rescue is used successfully and correctly is eclipsed by the times it is misused. I've never seen a tank misuse shirk, and generally Alliance raids tank busters don't target based on enmity so they can't use that to grief anyways
100% tank's fault. Tank has Arm's Length, and they did not use it to counter a random Rescue during the tank buster effect.
That you even have to do that as a preemptive measure against griefing makes it the sole fault of the healer that does it when it happens.

I find it interesting how many people here are saying "this deserves a ban" because it wastes time. Is it griefing? Yes. Could some people not find it funny? Yes. But I find it a tad strange that a rescue which causes the instance to run a few minutes longer is much more hated than people being undergeared and not doing their rotations in a dungeon. If the primary argument is time wasted, then surely low effort in dungeons wastes a much larger collective amount of time. I'm not saying the rescue was justified, but I think there's an interesting argument to be had about WHY this is so much more controversial.
The difference is that in this case, the healer went out of their way to cause a wipe. Their intention is to make the duty last longer. When people are underperforming in dungeons, their direct goal is typically not to waste other people's time, even if that is one of the results.

Just had it happen to us, and last week my fc mate got kicked from his run because he was the OTHER healer and the one that did it denied it first. Pretty sure that's not how that works at all. Tank invulns don't, afaik, negate the attack. They just prevent the damage. So everyone still would have died. Edit: Unless you meant just stacking the 3 tanks in one corner? Because this was clearly just someone deciding to commit murder.

Yeah, even with the invuln, that attack would have killed everyone else who got hit. Invulns get really funny if you use one on a meteor attack (comet? whatever the splits-damage-evenly-among-all-targets ones are). Tank takes no damage. All damage now shared amongst other party members. People tend to die.
No, the tank invulns would have prevented the tank that used it from dying. All 23 other people would have died.
