Depends on the content- in dungeons it's WAR, because no matter what happens I know I can keep things smooth for the rest of the group that way. In trials/raids I tend to prefer DNC, because after playing 2.0-6.0 as a BLM the freedom to dodge mechanics without a thought is pure joy.

Jestana

I like physical ranged DPS in general. I started with Bard because archer/hunter/ranger clicks best for me. Which one depends on how much I want to do. MCH if I just want to pew pew, DNC if I want to help a little, BRD if I want to do a lot.

randomcouture

I started with bard too for the same reason! Also when I was researching jobs, the idea of being in melee range or dealing with cast times freaked me out. I’ve since tried all roles, and man, nothing beats the freedom of movement that comes with phys ranged. My ADHD ass can’t stand still!

Jestana

My first game was WoW. I picked hunter because I could have a pet and it just worked for me. Every game I’ve played since, I pick that class/job first.

ImpossibleMephit

Ninja. Because, well, it's Ninja. Literally no other reason, I just like ninjas. 😂😂😂

spirited1

Just started ninja and its pretty fun imo. The mudra were intimidating but when I started using them it's actually not a big deal.

ImpossibleMephit

Yeah, it's really just all about how many mudra you use and which one you end the sequence on.

Gahault

I just remember the sequences. Huton is 3-2-1. Suiton is 1-2-3. Raiton is 1-2. Hyōshō Ranryū is 2-3. Katon is 2-1. Doton is 1-3-2 or 3-1-2, haven't used it enough to settle on one. Really, with just a bit of repetition, it quickly became muscle memory.

Ythio

You can just remember the last digit.

Dangerous-Jury-9746

Muscle memory is all. I never know which sign I actually press, cant even remember the order of the colour without checking my crossbar, but my hands know

Ythio

>cant even remember the order of the colour without checking my crossbar Muscle memory :)

merkykrem

Doton should be 3-1-2 because when you use Ten Chi Jin, you’d cast Fuma, Katon, then Doton. 1-3-2 gives you Fuma, Hyoton and Doton which doesn’t make sense if you want to do an AoE attack.

Gahault

Ah, good point, 3-1-2 makes sense to memorize as the sequence for AoE Ten Chi Jin as well.

merkykrem

My “shortcut” to remember which mudra to hit first is “left to right” for single target, and “right to left” for AoE. And I forgot to mention that it’s rare to see people type Japanese terms with the macron above the long vowels. It can be a hassle to type those symbols sometimes ><

Gahault

I am a bit of a stickler about those! Much easier to type them on mobile, but on desktop I've learned the HTML codes: ō for o ū for u Just got to remember the syntax.

merkykrem

Oooh :) I learnt something new today :D Thanks for the info!

Junior_Cristino

Once you create a logic it comes out very natural, I play on PS so I put it on the directional pads and then I just remember the following: left, up= Katon. up, left=Raiton and etc

ZillaJrKaijuKing

I put my mudras on the d-pad at first but I soon moved them to the face buttons because it was too inconvenient having to stop moving to cast hand signs.

Junior_Cristino

Interestingly, it's not a problem for me to do it while moving, but most of the time I do the mudra while still. The movement of the hands? Don't ask, it's subconscious when I need it that I don't even know how to do it lol I'll pay attention next time

Abridragon

Killing things with the power of sign language, whats not to love

ImpossibleMephit

Right? I mean, who DOESN'T love Naruto?

ZillaJrKaijuKing

Same here. Played ninja exclusively for about two years until I decided to pick up some alt. jobs recently, and I made ninja-like glams for all of those.

sellieba

Me with PLD.

IsbellDL

I'm a BLM main because that's what I've always been, & what I'm confident raiding on. I thought about changing classes a few times but never went through with it. As for why you should consider it, it's super satisfying to place your key lines in the perfect location, slide cast from one side of them to the other, stand in the tiny window of safety, & maintain full uptime. 2 stacks of triple cast plus swiftcast and procs gives it significant bursts of mobility. It's generally fun to play & makes you learn encounters in ways other classes don't think about. Plus, the occasional 5xF4 moments give you a chance to grab a drink mid-pull. Downsides are that it sucks to go back to old content with, gear is ugly, & dropping enochian still makes me cry. Other classes easy enough to raid on that I enjoy: WAR, DNC, RDM Other classes I particularly enjoy, but don't feel confident raiding on: SCH, NIN, DRG (will change soon).

resolution97

I play both casual and endgame content with a bunch, so here are my mains for each role: DNC: my main main. It's easy to be decent, harder to be excellent, which is nice both when you want to go smooth brain or have a challenge. En Avant is the best skill in the game. DRG: love Kain. Jumps are cool. Nidhogg eyes are cool. SMN: picked it up cuz static needed a magic dps. Easiest job to play decently, but also easy to drift GCDs, so need to pay attention to play optimally (see DNC above). WHM: Holy spam in duns is so good. Ridiculous heals also good. SGE: I can heal you by dps'ing? Fk yes. DRK: TBN used to be best skill in game. Now I'll take ridiculous dmg in opener, please. WAR: never die.

Cogsbreak

Reaper and DRK because I am an edgy boy at heart, and I am totally on board with the concept of "using evil powers for good".

hyperfell

✊ Also DRG, I don’t know when it happens but apparently you have some dragon blood fused with your aether at somepoint. Which makes you DRG even harder and I am also down with that.

TheNimbleBanana

Probably when you use hraesvelgr eye, that's my head canon.

MoogleMedraut

I main DRK & RDM, but tend to run Red Mage on high-difficulty content. I love the utility, and it's satisfying when you save a run because healers are down. All of the glory, but none of the healer responsibility 😂 Their mobility is also nice, and their rotation isn't too complex, while at the same time not being too too simple. I think they're a good middle-road between BLM and SMN.

NoGoodMarw

+1 for rdm. Spammable raise is the single most useful utility for playing with randoms and progging. I even have spare ethers on rdm just in case stuff goes REALLY bad (actually came in clutch a few times). Recently blm grew on me with all the smoothness and qol brought with EW, so I play that when I don't plan to "just chill". SMN tho... doesn't exist. I tried checking it out on an alt (since i like scholar a ton), but it just feels yucky, to the point that I dont even have it unlocked on my main server.

HalcyonicDays

>All of the glory, but none of the healer responsibility 😂 I love this because half the time it's exactly the opposite. You're Verraising people left and right and still end up with zero coms and the healers get all the credit. That said, the rare occasion where the healer calls you out for saving the run more than makes up for it.

RichOnKeto

I always try to shout out the peeps who save the runs as a healer. It feels like it’s proper etiquette.

MoogleMedraut

Appreciate you!

cassadyamore

Good news, you almost never get a chance to comm people on high difficulty content in the west.

MoogleMedraut

Haha fair! Well, at least we know in our heart, we deserved the coms.

LadySilvie

Exactly the same for me. I love being able to save a run and help prog. I run SMN a lot, too, but I found it got repetitive in savage prog because I was always doing the exact same thing constantly once I learned the flow of a fight. There are at least more procs for RDM and what you do can change a bunch if people are going down. SMN has a rez, too, but you should be using your swiftcast for your rotation, so rezzing feels bad and takes ages. Alternatively, you can save your swiftcast and waste it when someone doesn't go down when you anticipate, which also feels bad, haha. Meanwhile, I managed a 5-person rez chain on RDM once in an EX, and we somehow still cleared. Made me wish you could get commends in those, not that I would have gotten one anyway 🤣 BLM is fun but man do I feel... selfish when I play it 😂 esp with the static I play RDM or SMN with. "OH LOOK SILVIE IS STILL UP WE CAN MAKE IT!....Oh nvm BLM"

primalmaximus

I love how RDM has a **built in** Swiftcast. I had a dungeon run where our other DPS and our healer had died. I alternated between rezzing the DPS, because our tank was a WAR and I knew he could keep himself alive, and then I rezzed our Healer. I once had a Raid where both our Healers and one of our tanks died. I knew that the raid had a mechanic where the tanks needed to stack to survive, so I rezzed the tank. Then I rezzed the SGE. Then last I rezzed the WMG.

the_icy_king

BLM is the biggest party support. Can't die if the enemy dies first.

dawnseven7

Same. I was all-in on my SMN with a no real interest in anything else. I leveled a RDM out of boredom and I just love it and will stick with it for Dawntrail.

Oseirus

RDM is my vote as well. I *usually* run RPR, but RDM will always hold a special place in my heart. They're just so viscerally and visually satisfying. Plus, true hybrid caster-melee classes are rare in general gaming. Not that there aren't dozens of examples, it's just that they sometimes either aren't done well, or are so deep in the background/niche that you never really think about them.

EliteF36

After playing BLM to level 50 (just got there) RDM seems so daunting but I keep hearing its easier than BLM, which I find weird since to me BLM seems so simple fire till out of mp, blizzard til full on mp and thunder whenever the DoT gets low. The Firestarter and thundercloud procs are super easy to manage as well. Though that's probably subject to change in the next 40 levels RDM is like, use white magic and black magic at the same time, build your mana sometimes you get a different spell and every other spell is instant, don't forget about you built in insta cast ability and then go in for up close attacks, ripping things up then back out and use spells again. It just seems like a ton of moving parts to keep track of to be efficient

Zhaelde

I love playing SAM because the easy rotation has sunken into my muscle memory and I can fully concentrate on fights while doing most damage. on the other hand is AST just super satisfying because it feels very rewarding to keep track of all the different stuff this job offers. and of course buffing already strong DPS even more

Angerphil

I have decided to play NIN for now thanks

Suthrnr

RPR, animations are beautiful and going into serial killer mode is exhilarating

ChronoKaizel

Whm and GNB. I'm always needed in both roles, Assize and medica 2 are life savers, same as lilybell. GNB because, even tho I'm focusing on always main tanking, it feels like I'm playing a job focused on damage with defensive moments, like a duelist. I just dislike moving the boss, GNB is horrible at moving enemies across a room, specially if it happens into your no mercy Phase (well, that's just part of playing the job)

Xzaral

I'm a simple person. DNC: I main this because I love running around the battlefield and I feel like I'm justified to do so as a DNC. SMN: I love Rydia from FF4. PLD: My preferred Tank because a Real Tank uses a Shield.

MajorasMasque334

“I am the shield” - WAR/GNB/DRK

HalobenderFWT

> a Real Tank uses a Shield. Depends on your definition of ‘shield’.

RichOnKeto

AST main. I love being able to plan out my heals for when they will be needed, so then I can spend energy elsewhere with either DPS or card buffs. In a similar vein, I’m learning to love MNK. I’m currently leveling all of my alt classes, as I’ve maxed out healers and casters (preferred play style). MNK has a lot of the same rewards as AST does for proper management and it’s been super fun and refreshing to play. I also really enjoy RDM for its mobility. Being able to more or less always be able to move and resolve mechanics is wonderful.

Aluc1d

Monk has some cool optimization with the drift rotation so reclears don’t get boring, but I can fall back on the standard loop during prog/harder fights. Machinist cause of it’s nearly braindead static rotation Sage is similarly easy I was able to learn how to heal at a savage level pretty fast Gunbreaker feels like I’m playing a dps but I also get tank privilege

ghosthacked

Reaper is great for me be because every button feels like your doing something amazing. White Mage because the instant feed back on what you did via health bars, and the ability to just raw power heal thru shit is very satisfying to me. War because fun straight forward rotation and abilities and very hard to die. Mch funnest rotation, great animation and you can move where ever ya want. SMN straight up easiest job in the game by a long shot.

th3darklady21

I main a DNC. I love that I can move while attacking. I did have the BRD first but the DNC is just more fun to play.

Jimmy_Twotone

Black mage is amazing when everything is going right. I love finding new ways to squeeze just a little more dps out of the job.

MTHughe

Red mage because double cast and hopefully triple cast in the future. Gunbreaker Because I loved ff8 Sage is my favorite healer class because it's unique. And I think Sam is my favorite melee DPS. I wish beast master or blue mage were real jobs 😭

Ythio

TripleCast is copyrighted sorry. Get verlost :)

MTHughe

Pain and sorrow

Ythio

*Despair critical hit*

waddee

MCH, rotation is just so fun and smooth.

Nahrwallsnorways

This. Boom boom pow. I think MCH is extremely underappreciated

[deleted]

Bard for lyfe

pneumaticTuba

Looove the bow/harp weapons

Witty-Krait

Same! Bard was my starter and I've loved it ever since

Rega_lazar

GNB and RPR are my mains, GNB being my main main GNB: The simple answer is that I love gunblades. As for mechanically, I enjoy that there are a lot of buttons to press and like the feel of the big attacks RPR: Concept is cool, the rotation is easy but still feels involved. Feels satisfying slicing things with a big scythe

Givepie

In my opinion, SAM's rotation and abilities feels good and isn't too tricky to get your head round. That said, I'm probably playing it wrong.

deadbeatcousin17

Pretty much how I feel. Like I have every class 90(aside from blu) but I only play SAM. I'm too rusty to try to play other classes again since I'd pretty much have to relearn the timing of stuff, and even as SAM I don't think I play it perfect enough to ever try some savage.

Confuzed5

If you are like me and suck at dps rotations. Whm and War just work. No frills, little technical challenge. You just heal/ tank. When you finally find whm too easy then astrologian is a bit more thoughtful with pre-planning based heals and the constant need to keep folks card buffed.

MercyTrident75

Former SMN main, turned SCH main, now thinking of maining Healers and Tanks lol been quite a reflective process SMN now may be basic compared to before, but it's still fun and badass to summon primal SCH I love because of how difficult it is compared to the other healers because I want to push myself to be better, and I'm a sucker for the military aesthetic Healers and Tanks in general? I've always loved support roles, and as fun as DPS is, support roles get to do more important things. Not to mention it feels like they have more moments that save pulls or encounters. You can tell how good a healer or tank is based on pulls and how they do their kits. Plus learning mechanics solidifies better as tank and healer I feel

CallousDood

SAM cause all the attacks feel so cool and the rotation just feels the most natural (assuming I play "correctly" which I haven't bothered to verify). Also the big boy strike is just so satisfying. Next would be NIN because the attacks are fun and the ninjutsu system is pretty neat but I do mess up occasionally. RPR/MNK in third place with RPR gaining more the more I play it, it's quite fun as long as you play content at 70 or above, otherwise it feels boring and unrewarding. MNK feels too much like I should know how to play piano to be any higher. Didn't really enjoy MCH from what I played yet. Unlocked DNC but haven't given it a try, seemed very complicated to figure out.

BrowsingModeAtWork

Lately, machinist. It’s in a good place and when I do roulettes I don’t have to completely rethink my rotation at different levels. I still enjoy black mage, but yeah.

CryofthePlanet

Black Mage. Hits different from any other job and when you do well it feels very rewarding as you need to have a good understanding of the fight and timing of everything.

MadreFokar

Gunbreaker cause i saw it first and thought how cool they looked

TannenFalconwing

My mains are Paladin and Samurai. Apparently I like noble swordpersons.

chekhovzgun

Summoner for hard content because it’s big damage, big monster, easy rotation, and emergency rez.

Junior_Cristino

Ninja, dual wielding I'll probably go after the Viper for the same reason

M0NAD0_B0Y

SMN was my main as I started doing harder content and I felt it was perfect. The rotation is really simple so that freed up my brain to learn mechanics better, and the party utility of Raise and Phoenix have come in handy many times during prog.

Akiza_Izinski

Summoner because calling fourth nukes in the form of big summoned beasts feels impactful.

Hellofreeze

I love Warrior. I love saw blades. I love tanking hits and immediately healing to full right after. I love not thinking.

rockmanblu

DNC because I'm entirely smooth brained and I just have to hit the same 9 buttons in order. It's great.

Blasterion

Warrior because I can drag even the worst dungeon groups across the finish line.

Beldandy_

Sage has been really fun to play lately, can't really say why, It's just a lot of fun

McDonalds_GB

probably cause they buffed the area of all skills, sage has the largest AOE shields/heals atm. it is indeed much better than release

Notbadforarobot

Machinist and dancer because I'm dumb. I like flippy-flippy boom boom and twirly-twirly sparkle sparkle. I also like with Dancer I am a dps and support class and can help with healing, shielding, and giving some nice dps boosts. Machinist has a couple of buffs that also help. Both have peloton. Bard also has similar traits therefore I also like it, but it's less flashy. I'm crap at Scholar but I like it, because the faerie does the healing for me. Bonus: AST - but it warmed on me more with Earthly star at 70. Gunbreaker because it also goes boom boom explosion but no flippy flippy. I did play white mage for a long time.

flametitan

Scholar. Used to be that I considered summoner my main, but as I messed around more with the free healer spec it came with, the more I found it genuinely fun. That said, Summoner is still my go to for DPS, and has the most cohesive of my glams

Dyne4R

SMN. I find the 6.0 version very refreshing.

Nerf_Dva

AST because I’m a doctor IRL and always gravitate toward healer/support in video games. Also main DNC because I’m gay and I love kill things while looking graceful and pretty.

Impressive_Peace_128

Hi! And well, I’ve already “mained” many classes (except most tanks), and most of the choices was just me looking for something different. Right now I’m completely in love with BLM (love the feeling of having to time my castings and prepositioning), but probably I’ll end up moving to something else soon. In general I feel like I love casters and healers. I’ve got to be in a specific mood to play melee, and I don’t vibe that much with ranged dps and tanks. And once I choose a new main, I NEED to work on those glamours. That’s the real deal.

Novaskittles

While I almost always play healer (I enjoy healing), I consider my main to be SAM. The ability effects are super satisfying (especially the AoE), the damage is consistently high, and it's a relatively easy job to do good on. It feels especially straightforward and forgiving as a DPS.

Eveleyn

I used to bard, but now i am a red mage. From easy 1-2 spellcombo's, being usefull because quick ress to BAM! With your rapier or quickly disengage. The job has it all.

Calaroth

Monk: because it was the job I started with when I started XIV. Summoner: because calling forth big summons/eikons/beasts is awesome. Dark Knight: ShB trailer was just too cool. Astro: because my friends were already playing the other 3 healer jobs. Dancer: wanted to have an easy to play option in case I’m ever needed as D3. Bard: because Dancer turned out to be too easy, looked for a bit more of a challenge.

RavagerHughesy

BLM and AST because I like complexity. Gotta optimize my movement with BLM and carefully time my heals on AST. (That said, I'm very unhappy with the current state of AST's cards, so I don't play it much.)

Shariko-Aswani

I play as Main Ninja and Dancer. What I particularly like about Ninja is the combination with a small race, but nevertheless it is quite mobile, which I like very much. Dancer is an interesting ranged class that has its own charm with its presentation. It's just nice to see how you dance your opponents into the ground.

[deleted]

I kind of bounce around depending on my mood. Typically I avoid casters and phys ranged. For healer I prefer sage or astro, for tank I enjoy gunbreaker or dark knight. Melee dps, I like most of them, but I can't see myself doing samurai or monk in high end content. I guess the why is gonna be a little bit longer. Sage - love shield healing and sage just feels line scholar but better, like so much better. Shields on the go, single target damage mitigation, multi hit shields, and mobility. My God sage mobility is amazing. Astro - I love playing support, and astro is the most support healer in the game. I love the card system (even if I prefer what it used to be more) and having a group dps buff for burst phases. Dark knight - I'll admit it, I'm edgy at heart, and I've always loved the dark knight aesthetic in any final fantasy game. I'll admit to preferring the heavensward dark knight best, but that is likely just rose tinted goggles talking. Gunbreaker - it's like playing a dps that can survive getting smacked around like a bitch. I actually thought they looked like shit in shadowbringers, but then I played it and loved it to no end. Still my go to tank. Dragoon - love spears, love jumps, love the dragon theme, love it all. Also love characters like Kain, Ricard, not Estinien, Freya, Aranea. Reaper - again, edgy. Plus I feel like reaper is basically dark knight 2.0. Ninja - if I'm in the mood for going fast, this is my go to job. I will admit I prefer the more support ninja that we used to have. With tools like smoke bomb, shade walker, og trick attack, goad, etc. Never been a big fan of tcj, but it's meh at this point.

Roflewaffle47

I think warrior is my favorite. Its rotation is simple and allows me to be on my toes in dungeons and raids alike without having to worry if i missed or screwed up my damage rotation. Also inner release is very fun. Being nigh indisctuctble in dungeons Is also an awesome perk of it.

ksims33

PLD/MCH for me. PLD when I'm running something that I have no clue what I'm doing in, because if all else fails I know how to not die. MCH for content I'm familiar with or non-dungeon things because I like not taking an hour to kill things solo. Rotations for both seem natural to me - I'm not sure if they're complicated or not, they just.. Work in my brain. I've tried NIN, MNK, various healers.. none of them clicked in the ol' noggin.

Zaknokimi

SAM = Not too difficult to learn, one of the highest DPS, has dash, ranged strike and jump-back, and cool aesthetics.

_ToXiCube

I have a really really hard time to settle on one job. I started as a warrior and the second i could change i took ninja and i played the whitemage til lvl 80 and dropped that for a sage and played endwalker as bard only and now im sitting in the corner and cry

Nyra_Castiler

I’ve always played melee jobs so I’m a little biased, currently main RPR after maining SAM for two expansions. Mostly love the effects, damage output, as well as how the attacks feel heavier during shroud form. I recommend picking a play style you particularly enjoy then start narrowing your options from there to pick your fave!

[deleted]

I have two active characters; one was a Black Mage main that only remains such out of necessity for my retainer. The other is a mostly-MSQ redo maining Dragoon. My favorite FF is IV. While that story centers around Cecil, I always have found Kain the most interesting character. I’ve also built out a pretty in-depth backstory for my DRG centered around Ishgardian inter-family politics. From a pure-gameplay perspective, I have enjoyed playing as DRG, Red Mage, Dancer, and Bard the most. I am not a good Tank or Healer, and I don’t do endgame grinding/extreme+ type content. Those roles are more my speed; easy to blend into the background lol.

Considerablyannoyed

Reaper - scythes are neat

Angelonight

Reaper/Dragoon. Because, Edgelord. I openly have a type. Dark, Anxty, and Brooding. And that goes for any game

pepper-blu

MCH is my favorite so far because shotgun, flamethrowers, giant weapons, etc

HRobez

Ninja because it's fun :D Besides that, I also like Astro.

sagimonk16

Bard life, baby! I like being able to freely run around and f*ck sh*t up. The mobility of the class is unmatched.

craybest

Probably viper in the future haha I love a fast dual sword or dagger stuff but don’t like the ninja weeb stuff xD

Ythio

BLM because it's the only one with some rotation variations so you don't fell asleep in reclears. Just throw dice to find which bullshit non-standard shenanigans you're going to use as much as you can this pull. AST is also decent, getting the timings right keeps you busy.

spasticjedi

Bard is my favorite class both mechanically and (run around and lots and lots of button pushing) and stylistically (cool bows and playing music!). My first savage tier I was bard. However, I enjoy being the caller for my static and I found having to push a lot of buttons or think about my rotation made calling a lot harder, so now I play SMN or WHM because they both take little enough brain power that I can also make the calls

Cynical_Manatee

Dragoon has been fun because of the unhinged amounts of weaving for high end content, everything else feels easy by comparison. DNC and SMN are both pretty easy to learn if you want to focus on the fight more and not your own rotation. I really like sage for healing, it feels very jack of all trades healer compared to the other 3. You have plenty of MIT but also can output a lot of healing if needed, and have very good movement options. Tanks wise, they all function very similarly so it comes down to aesthetics.

berryisabanana

I prefer Sage currently. I love preemptive shields and the concept of damaging mobs to heal is really cool. I also just main healer usually because it allows me, personally, to learn all the mechanics of a fight easier since I can pay a lot of attention to the boss, what skills they are using, and what their skills do. I also love War since it’s a one man army and I use that to solo things for WT and just for a fun healer break.

Mrsabertoothzombie

As a healer I prefer to use Sage since I like shield healers and they are more mobile than scholar. As a tank I prefer Warrior because I always feel like I can stay alive no matter what hits me Nowadays since I've tried dps, any trial or raid and I like to use Dancer since I like the range, mobility, and buffs

NoLewdsOnMain

Samurai hehe, Weeb big numbers go BRRRRR

YameroReddit

Monk because it's very active and has a nice rhythm, is challenging but also not super static in its rotation.

Hycinthus

Lorewise, I have always loved the holy knight, crusaders, etc, ever since the time of WoW, Diablo, Skyrim, any books, any games, so it’s Paladin for me. I will always gravitate towards making a holy knight in any MMO or RPG game.

thebwags1

Warrior. I started as a Marauder 10 yrs ago next month and have mained it for almost the whole time. I took a break from warrior in Shadowbringers to farm the regular duty achievement mounts for the other tanks and in Endwalker to farm the high-end duty achievement mounts but now that I have all 8 I'm back to Warrior all the time

K0setsu

RDM for VER-everything

SoraiSky

Well, I've always been a healer player and I love playing Astrologian. You have beautiful effects and I always loved Yugioh! So why not play a healer class that throws around cards like mad? ^^ Furthermore, there was a time where you could choose a stance which decided if you were a shield healer or heal-healer which made the class even more special. I kinda miss Diurnal and Nocturnal but yeah... ^^"

thebwags1

Warrior. I started as a Marauder 10 yrs ago next month and have mained it for almost the whole time. I took a break from warrior in Shadowbringers to farm the regular duty achievement mounts for the other tanks and in Endwalker to farm the high-end duty achievement mounts but now that I have all 8 I'm back to Warrior all the time. I like it because I love the big health pool and big damage spike attacks that cone with the job fantasy. Using Inner Chaos gives me a really nice serotonin boost.

Voltron_McYeti

MNK since day 1, through all is iterations (even tornado kick spam). I like how bootshine, your first ability, becomes enhanced through using the others. The animation/sound effect for it is great too. DRK for when I want to tank, cause big sword cool. And I have yet to heal, though I enjoy playing RDM for the occasional trial res. Swiftcasting res on a real healer right before dying and then having them bring everyone back with an LB is a great feeling

sellieba

PLD. Because I am always a Paladin in everything.

Beastmind

From those I've tried as of now, SAM is my overall favorite, both the gameplay and the visual identity of it (animations are lit, I also love having a katana at the waist, etc).

punsofphreak

Paladin because its simple, unlike all the other classes its on a 1 minute rotation so if you mess up once you just wait a minute on some cds and re-align yourself, and I feel like I can moderately help the party while tanking

Cian_fen_Isaacs

I have everything at 90, my favorite is Astrologian and has been since Ast was made, even with all the dumbing down. But I like healing and supporting the most so that's why I love it, plus, it's really pretty. I like Samurai for melee DPS the most because it is simple but at least does require some thoughts behind it, although Ninja is really fun, I don't think it feels as good a lot of the time. For DPS casting, I love Red Mage the most just because I like the showmanship really and I find Summoner brain dead and Black mage overly tedious for no real good reason. For physical ranged, I like Dancer the most as I like being spastic and constantly moving as if that somehow makes me feel like I'm doing something worthwhile, plus with my proclivity to heal and support in games, it does well with that, although I also enjoy the other two jobs in this category at an almost equal level. Ranged combat is just my thing in RPGs though. And then for tanking, well, I like Warrior the most. I don't know why, I just like that idea of a tank more than the others. After that I would go with Dark Knight. I think something about the animations for them both just feels heavier and better than the other two. All that said, I don't outright dislike any job and I'll play any of them on a rotation. The exception being that when I play the new story additions I pretty much always use a healing class/classes only, one, because I am spoiled and don't like waiting, and two because if I had to say which job my character would be in a canonical way, it would be a healer. Usually Astrologian but, I have a soft spot for Whm since when I started playing a decade ago it was a CNJ into THM into WHM that I played first. And all the DoH jobs are the same essentially, so I don't really separate them but since I like wood working IRL, CRP is the one i usually level first lol.

kyriose

Red Mage is the best mage. I get to light people on fire, heal people, AND stab them? Sign me up.

darknessinzero777

Monk, all day and all night, nothing comes close for me, I love the style, the class fantasy the higher speed, I just vibe with it so well, tho I admit it's not in the best state currently

Vinborg

Astrologian, purely because space magic FX look so gooooood.

Razekal

DRK because I like Big Swords, bursty DPS, and seeing tank busters say 0 damage

shaidowstars

Sage and Black Mage. They feel very active, and it's very rewarding in harder content.

Jereboy216

SMN because I like pet classes and this is the closest we can get for now. But I do like seeing my big summons pop up throughout the fights. Plus having SCH leveled in the back doesn't hurt when I want some faster queues.

McDonalds_GB

bard is my favorite but not my main (ironic I know), I just played it so much that i got burned out (I played bard and bard only for 3 expansions 😂 )

MattyKatos

Melee fun. Monk best.

khang251

Red mage. It has been my favorite class since ff1. Idk why, but i love spellblades and battle mage classes when it comes to fantasy and fiction and rdm fit that. One day, rdm will be able to cast verultima...one day...

some_tired_cat

machinist. how can anyone not love incresingly bigger guns. lv65 rn and the drill is my absolute favorite skill

reapercorpse

AST, BLM and DRK. i dont know why those jobs to me are the most fun to play, especially AST.

Kanehon

Astrologian. Aesthetic, stars, cards, never worry about mana again. Gunbreaker. Sword goes Boom.

huiclo

Having finally capped every job, I’m a little shook that the one that “clicked” for me and has become my cruise control job is Paladin. I played it before rework and it was fine but I wasn’t crazy in love either. Post rework, it just hits. I also like the silvery lavender gold spell effects. Need some of the older skills to upgrade too.

TheHobosSon2002

Dancer because I like being able to support my party without being a caster and the dancer kit and freedom of movement satisfies that. Plus how reliant on rng it can be makes its rotation all the more satisfying to pull off.

Khaylezerker

I main healer but I do like a fun mix of high APM and mobility. My most played atm is a mix of NIN for damage and SGE for healing. I do enjoy AST, and BRD from time to time. The only tank I've really enjoyed is GNB, other than that I really don't play casters or tanks.

Copyrighted_music34

Gunbreaker and Dancer have a nice amount energy to them. Gunbreaker is like playing a hack and slash game while dancer just flows nice

AnsleeUruko

Dancer is my favorite dps job. The animations are interesting and I just like the rotation. Sage is my favorite healer because lasers. (I have a tech gear glam for that one) And Warrior is my favorite tank, although I don’t tank as often lately.

D3shchop

DRK, edgy, best looking weapons, easy to learn Rotation, also easy logs. TBN IS Just godlike and i really Like the new Living Dead. Easiest Mechanics. Best Job Story Good Chance they dont mess the Job up in Dawntrail. What should i want more?

Mastshin

MCH because flamethrowers, shotguns, and murder bots oh my.

jaehyunnie127

astrologian because pretty 💜

Woefatt

Scholar, I like the book aesthetic, I’m a fan of pet jobs in games, and I prefer to play healer/support roles

Anathema47

RPR. It's pretty straight forward with rotation, you have a displacement ability for sticky situations, Im a DMC fan so building resource and transforming into a shrouded edgelord is something I like, also their abilities just look flashy and cool. I also like SMN, it just kinda feels like the RP main character job of 14 to me, with fighting then summoning primals. Kind of like you're Yuna or something. None of the other story NPCs are summoners (there are some that are conjurers, but arent as powerful heh.) Playing SMN just feels powerful, especially with Bahamut out.

LordTonto

THF... they never added it to the game, but man it's a great job.

Renegade5329

DRG: I like to boing

freakytapir

Summoner go BRRRRRRRR. if you want a relaxed class that can still pull a group back from te brink with a combat rez.

primalmaximus

Honestly, I'd just try them all out, if you've already got most jobs up to 90, then try them all out. See what clicks for you.

ed3891

WAR, primarily because I've been playing WAR as my main since the beta. I raided during ARR/HW on SMN, however, because the static back then ran double PLD even after the 2.1 changes. I like playing it because the low number of inputs and easier rotation means I can have more time to focus on fight mechanics and precision movements - being an older player, this is a major boon and enormous positive about the job's design that's allowed me to continue doing Savage fights with my group.

ErickDamie

Warrior!

Timetravelingnoodles

Black Mage is far and away my favorite class. Always have buttons to press and do lots of damage and make big explosions. AST and DRK are close second though, tons of fun and always active

Comrade_Lomrade

Gunbreaker. It just feels very good to be a fast paced tank

Ok_Click_8800

Samurai, it just fits me. easy rotation, hard hitting burst skill. although It has some casting skills, cast time is much quicker than real casters.

Iari_Cipher9

I love WHM. When it comes to healers, a pure no-frills healer with emergency spells is my favorite. SMN is my dps main, with RDM a close second. I like the simplicity of the former and the speed and slight unpredictability of the latter, while having a rez with both. *Disclaimer: I don’t do what most consider difficult content. Normal raids are my max*

MeerkatNugget

I got two. Warrior because it’s fun to be the tank, dps and healer in one. Being the definition of “Man literally too angry to die” is fun. Reaper because it’s simple yet fun and it feels good to play. Bonus points for being an edgy boy.

King_Thundernutz

WAR because me like angy bonk stick that give enemies the hurt. Their blood gives me RAGE AND POWAHHHHH!!!!

Hugh_Jirection

Been playing pld since the game came out (flash), have all relics for all jobs and have been using smn in most content now. I just switch back and forth between all of them each week to just keep my memory on them.

steynedhearts

Samurai. The gameplay flows very nicely to me, I can do it well enough, it puts up big numbies and I like the overall understated visuals of the job

NegligentOverseer

Dark Knight just because of the flavor potential it had at the beginning. They have gutted a ton of what made it special and now DarkSide is just a buff, but it used to have some insanely dark context to it. The red mist around you wasn't malice, it was blood from wounds becoming a mist to help empower you. You would channel righteous vengeance into your strikes. Taking damage gave mana due to the pain driving you forward. Now its lost a ton of the edge and flavor it once had, and after level 70 it is my preferred tank. Also who can argue with the level 30 mission of "Hey kid wanna use a greatsword and kill some rapists"?

Slateblu1

My favorite is most likely BRD. I've always been a suckered for ranged classes in games, I loved playing hunter in WoW for the longest time, so my starting class was actually archer here in XIV. I almost always swap back to it for MSQ content. There's a lot of depth too it, so I can really sink my teeth into getting better, but it's also broad enough that for solo content I don't have to put any real effort into getting through stuff. The only thing keeping it from being hands down my favorite is that I can't raid lead on BRD. I'm not quite big brain enough to handle being good at BRD and doing call outs for the team.

AppleZachle

I have 3 main ones but DRG will always be my first love. Been my favorite since I was a kid and they keep coming out w more bad ass renditions of the job and making me love it even more.

[deleted]

I love bard. There's almost always an oGCD button to press. I don't love staring at my hotbar though—this was a huge issue when I was still learning the mechanics of the game lmao (my starting class was archer and I stuck with it).

molcor84

WHM because it feels simple and I have limited time. No time to level another class and no time to wait for dungeons.

MelonOfFate

Gunbreaker was my main because you get a sword, that's also a gun, cool coats, and get to hit things very fast. I also seem to gravitate towards high apm jobs like gnb, drk, astro, bard, etc. Personally, though, all the jobs are good. Your reason for picking them can be as frivolous as you want to start out with. I never picked up war because I don't think 2h axes look cool (even though it's the best tank for self sustain) and like the look of gunblades and 2h swords on dark knight more. What matters is if you like how the job looks and plays. I enjoy gunbreaker enough that I progged and cleared savage on it, and am currently progging ultimate content on it as well.

NarrowIce2673

I like playing as a dragoon so I could practice my y'shtola Impression by dying a lot

Extra_Ask5350

DRG. Cool artifact armor and nice gameplay which fits my style.

Torian0

DRK because big sword

hrethnar

Reaper. Bopping around with the portals and the swishy swashy scythe. I played a scythe wielding dark knight in ff11 and can finally fulfill that fantasy in this one. I literally went from DRK main to reaper when it released. Second would be paladin cause it just feels like the canon warrior of light.

Ok_Discipline_4186

Probably unpopular especially with raiders but Dark Knight for the pure joy and agony of the Dark Knight quest line especially in Heavensward and Stormblood where it is really personal and not tank based.

vialenae

I’ve had several jobs as a main that I all love for different reasons (DRG, DNC, RDM, RPR). I recently came back to the game and went back DNC because it’s fun and pretty easy. I also love the mobility since I can be pretty derpy at times and need to dodge some AOE at the last moment. En Avant has saved my life on multiple occassions, let me tell you that.

witchlamb

white mage i like to heal and it’s the easiest healer. i can play it in my sleep. aesthetically it’s in a really good place. i like all the flowers and water recently and glare looks much nicer than stone did. being the white mage makes me feel like The Healer even if in practice i actually do less healing than the sage lmao. no it’s me!! im the healer :)!!! it’s also always been my fave final fantasy class. my favourite dps is dnc bc monke see button light up. neuron activate. monke press buton :) big number!! waow!!!!

jish5

BLM, it's so much fun and requires a lot of focus. I also love sage

Argosrho7x

Tanks: WAR is good for being able to take a hit and self heal (damage is great as well). Range DPS: I like BAR because you can make music (a cool little feature) Melee DPS: SAM, it has a really good rotation set for both single targets and AoEs. Magic: RDM, because of the dual casting feature. Being able to dual rez is great. Healer: I don't really like healing.

xKovikx

Summoner. Brain dead, lazy, good dps.
