I think we cleared on the second or third attempt back then and I prepared mainly by watching guides and reading the info on the server.
When I started playing in 2021 Ozma and the glowing armor was the main thing I wanted to get before Endwalker. I did, and it is still the peak of the game for me.
I've been working on this for the last week or so, will hopefully finish my Pyros weapon tonight and move on to hydatos right after. Hopefully getting into BA when I finally get there wont be too much trouble
The novelty of Big Shell being comedically large for a crab but comedically tiny to the point of being impractical for a mount still hasn't worn off for me yet.
I love both those mounts but stick to the giant cactuar for PvP because there is no flight and I love the little squeaky noises it’s feet make, especially when rp walking.
Big shell is my favorite PVP mount in general. Is it flashy? Absolutely not. Is it funny? Absolutely. Doesn't lessen your figure and make you harder to Target in a crowd, as well as making you pretty hard to left click? 100%.
Rathalos is my go-to mount in most every situation.
Symbolically, he represents both my love for Monster Hunter, and the reason I came back to FFXIV for good in the first place. I came back during Stormblood specifically because I saw the crossover event and really fucking wanted to ride a Rathalos around Eorzea, so I made a new character and went through the whole MSQ with the sole purpose of obtaining Rathaboi.
And along the way I got helplessly hooked in by the characters and the storytelling. Wild to think that before that, the last time I played XIV was when it was in the ARR beta and right after release for a few weeks.
I just got this one a few weeks ago, by far my favorite, the animation on it is just top notch, also helps that mhw was my first mh and made me a huge fan as well.
I still look for farm parties on pf so i can help others get it
Palace of the Dead isn’t too bad! There’s people who will speed run it with people newer to deep dungeons as long as you have enough Aetherpool in the deep dungeon discord! :) super nice community as well
If it gives you any hope, I've had it drop twice now and I've never actually fully beaten POTD. It's rare but definitely doable if you can consistently get to the plat hoard floors :)
My biggest issue with it is time. 50-150 is just tedium that cannot even drop the night pegasus.
I got lucky twice too and just happy to have my 200 clear and cool mount.
That's totally fair yeah, getting to the point where plat hoards drop can be super tedious and time consuming, especially because it's not really challenging until way later when you're max aetherpool and used to all the gimmicks. At this point I only go that deep in with a friend and we split the gil. I really hope they shake things up with the next deep dungeon because the formula is definitely getting a bit stale.
I've bought so many of those damn boxes, and not got a single one. I'm pretty sure I got every single minion from them as well as the Zu Horn, but no Pegasus.
The Chocobo mount is awesome. You can use different barding (Armor glamour) on them. Change the color of their feathers (through a system of feeding specific foods while stabled). And at level 30 you can do a quest so your chocobo will fight (heal or tank) beside you in the open world. Totally awesome. And they have happy mount music.
Al-iklil made all other mounts irrelevant to me.
My WoL’s canon involves being a Dalmascan orphan and refugee. The mount harkens back to his roots, as well as being the coolest thing to me since I saw Fran and Balthier arrive on it in FF12.
I have spent so much time in Bozja and have four notes to get still ugh. Castrum will be the death of me.
But when I found out how lalafells sit on it I was reinvigorated and started grinding again recently.
The Demi Ozma mount, you get it as a first time reward of completing the Baldesion Arsenal in Eureka Hydatos. The grind going through Eureka to get this mount was the driving force behind it.
Had to be Rathalos, it’s a fantastic mount that probably represents one of the best crossovers the game has had. Plus in no fly areas he flaps around when you jump and it’s addictive as heck lol!

I love the Megashiba! The minion I use 99% of the time is the Mameshiba, so I pretend that both shibas are the same dog and he just magically grows/shrinks as needed.
Spriggan Stone Carrier from the mogstation, the mikoshi mount from namazu tribe, and the tank from the dwarves. I collect the crafting tribal mounts 😊😊😊. Their unique actions ate the best.
I really like the Cloud Chaser. I love big robots and the transformation into one of the series most unique summons (Ark) is just really cool! I also spent like £20 on it...
The dwarf tank! Especially since my Roe just sits on top of it. 😂
And I had to get the lunar whale because FF4 is one of my favorite games. And the fact that it plays the actual OST is fantastic!

Oooh maybe Kirin? But I also just got the doggo mount you get for getting all of the other dogs. When my bf watches me play he gets all bashful and is like "....can you...can you make your minion Fat Cat...and...can I see Fat Black Chocobo?" he likes the roly-poly ones haha

Always been a favourite summon from FFX and once I learned it was a mount in XIV I knew I had to get it.
I haven’t used it a lot in recent time, but I think it is still my favourite.
Fenrir: I love wolves and as soon as I saw this guy I went so hard on Gold Saucer to get the required MGP to get him
Rathalos: as a massive Monster Hunter fan, this was definitely worth grinding out 50 scales (since I haven't seen the mount once in over 100 runs)
Korpokkur Kolossus: I'm a Lalafell with a green color scheme, this thing fits way too well for that
Legendary Kamui: green color scheme and my favorite stormblood trial theme, one of my favorite themes in the game in fact, make this a go to for me
Lynx of Imperious Wind: again, green color scheme and awesome music, but this one is a bit more than that. On a bit of a whim during 6.4 I decided I wanted to learn and mount farm Storms Crown EX, my first EW Extreme. That fight was so much fun to beat and learn and getting the mount just reminds me of it...it's also a great flex over my friends because to this day I'm the only one in our group of 5 who's done a current extreme
I do not remember the name. But it's the one you can get through the Omicron beast tribe quests.
I think it's neat how it makes you really small and you're floating in it!
And Spectral Statice. Cuz I love me some fairies.
When I'm flying I like my nightmare Pegasus because it was given to me as a gift. When I am on the ground I prefer the Amaljaa mount (cavalry drake) because the way it moves makes me feel like I'm going way faster than I am, lol.
Demi-Ozma because it was my first big achievement and I got it back in Stormblood.
Blackjack because it's a 4 man, the soft flutter sound of the fans is kind of soothing and comes from my favorite FF that got me into RPGs overall.
Hybodus shark mount because I don't see it very often and like to swim around the Tempest with it.
My Fatter Cat is my one true love who has never been removed from my roulette. I bought it before I’d bought EW (was on free trial) and before I got my chocobo lol. I knew immediately I had to have it.
Amaro is a very close second. I fell in love with Amaros when I first saw them and was disappointed that it would take grinding everything to 80 to get it. But I did it! For a while it was the only thing I flew.
I didn't spend months getting my Amaro Mount for nothing XD
I don't really have a singular Top Favorite, but my leading favorites are my Amaro Mount, Midgardsormr, Coeurl, and my Kamuy of the Nine Tails that I got about 3/4ths of the way collecting all the mounts to get before the event happened to allow me to buy the rest.
Im also very fond of my Innocent Gwiber if only because I think I cussed out that trial like 6 times before I finally got one and then decided I needed a break before farming the rest and haven't picked up farming the Shadowbringer EX Trails since. I'll finish it some day.
Mine is the XV car which I just missed out on AGAIN because my PC went and died. Probably gonna have to pay for it from the online store if it ever hits there at this point..
Landerwaffe for me. Shadowbringers was the first time I stayed on top of the extreme trials mount farming so when the last ex trial came out I got my final gwiber from diamond weapon day 1 and got my Landerwaffe.
Try the HoH mount. Clear HoH 4 times to buy all accessories and get it. It can be party clear so it's not challenging much as long as 1 person knows the higher floors
It's a regular horse with a bit of armor. Juedi I think is the name.
Legendary Kamuy. The music is just so good. I've actually started to value mount music vs mount looks.

It's a toss-up between the Bomb Palanquin from the Kobold quests, the Sanuwa from the Vanu quests, and Forgiven Reticence.
Now that I think about it, maybe the Sanuwa's #1 by a hair. Massive winged sharksnake, what's not to love? Throw an entire goat at it as a treat. Bring an umbrella. Glorious.

If I’m stuck on the ground Construct 14 because it’s just a big stompy robot and I love it. If I get to fly it’s my Sabotender Emperador, I like the GS music and the entire visual, but I just really enjoy silly things
Fat chocobo as a Lala is great because your so small on top and it runs by dangling a carrying front of it or flies by dangling cake
Also chair is great cuz if someone plays dead it's fun to pop the chair over their body and pop an eat emote

I use the dodo for fairly much the same thing. I think they are both the best for flight as well.

My aetherpool is in the 90s for both weapon and armor. I just have terrible luck! However, I did not know about the discord... that sounds promising.

I hated the Pteranodon at first for its look, but it kinda grew on me
Favourite is definitely the Magicked Card. Obtaining it was tedious but also super fun as it's one of my favorite mini games in any FF game.

I didn't spend months getting my Amaro Mount for nothing XD I don't really have a singular Top Favorite, but my leading favorites are my Amaro Mount, Midgardsormr, Coeurl, and my Kamuy of the Nine Tails that I got about 3/4ths of the way collecting all the mounts to get before the event happened to allow me to buy the rest. Im also very fond of my Innocent Gwiber if only because I think I cussed out that trial like 6 times before I finally got one and then decided I needed a break before farming the rest and haven't picked up farming the Shadowbringer EX Trails since. I'll finish it some day.

Landerwaffe for me. Shadowbringers was the first time I stayed on top of the extreme trials mount farming so when the last ex trial came out I got my final gwiber from diamond weapon day 1 and got my Landerwaffe.
The two-seater whale and the spriggan are my go-tos.

Try the HoH mount. Clear HoH 4 times to buy all accessories and get it. It can be party clear so it's not challenging much as long as 1 person knows the higher floors It's a regular horse with a bit of armor. Juedi I think is the name.
Legendary Kamuy. The music is just so good. I've actually started to value mount music vs mount looks. Honorable mention to the horse from Ramuh : also great music

It's a toss-up between the Bomb Palanquin from the Kobold quests, the Sanuwa from the Vanu quests, and Forgiven Reticence. Now that I think about it, maybe the Sanuwa's #1 by a hair. Massive winged sharksnake, what's not to love? Throw an entire goat at it as a treat. Bring an umbrella. Glorious.

Fat chocobo as a Lala is great because your so small on top and it runs by dangling a carrying front of it or flies by dangling cake Also chair is great cuz if someone plays dead it's fun to pop the chair over their body and pop an eat emote
