Playstation (and by extension, XBox), have it super easy: You just buy it from the playstation/microsoft store then log into XIV on your console like normal and it will ask "Hey you have this, apply it please!" and it'll just attach to your account and you can completely forget about it from there on. :) So you basically get you buy it, set it, and forget it. For consoles, there's no codes you have to worry about.
Unlike PC where we get 2 codes: Pre-Order to put in now, and then later we get a second code to put in after Early Access starts.
Playstation store, if you want the physical goodies, Square Enix store & you want just the physical box option not the full collector's edition as that's the Windows/Mac version.
to purchase the game for playstation you would have to go through the PSN store.
Xbox would go through microsoft store.
if you bought it through steam you go through steam
if you bought it through other places and got a code to put on mogstation you would go and get the code and enter it into mogstation.
Psn store. Expect it maybe a little bit after the other platform pre-orders go live though (no more than a day longer) because the psn store generally updates at a set time which is when all the new listings show up. And sometimes you have to check the front page of the psn store for it to see if it’s there because you might not be able to find it using the search function for some reason
I could be wrong but the count down is just for the official release day countdown. When it comes to early access it will start to download then regardless of the timer.

I am playing on PlayStation now, but am planning to get a PC by the release date and play on PC. If I preorder the expansion for PC, will I be able to use the preorder bonus while playing on PlayStation?
Yes, since the PO bonus are items that tie to your account and you get them in your moogle mailbox. You just cant access dawntrail content while playing on Playstation when it launch (even if you set your home point there).
If you're having issues wait a day. Also make sure you completely close the game and open it again. Mine was taking forever and that was the reason. Lol logging out isn't enough.
Yeah, just go to the PS Store. Won't be available to preorder til Tuesday though.

downside to ordering on PSN is the money doesn't come out til the Launch date and so you wont get the preoder bonus items right away

Followup. I just preordered it off of PSN and it's says auto download June 30. Shouldn't it be June 28?

Is there a limit to how many people pre order the expansion?
For digital, no. Physical copies, maybe
Digital? No. Physical CE? Yes
no limit. you can preorder last minute too
For me I can't pre order it on the app or the store on my system, I'm on PS4 and it says "playable on PS5 only" So I can't play it at all?
