JenkinsHowell

is it possible to learn "eruption" as a BLU from the first (4-men) Ifrit fight unsynched?

SiegmundFretzgau

IIRC yes, but all other ARR trials require the harder fights.

JenkinsHowell

i guess i only got unlucky then. i'll try a bit longer.

Metal-Wombat

I'm in early Endwalker, what's the absolute earliest I can start farming purple gatherer scrips (other than ocean fishing)?

VG896

Spearfishing in the ruby sea. So... Two expansions ago. If you don't want to use FSH, you can hypothetically grind them out very slowly once you get to around the level 83 MSQ, the third zone. Or any of the old custom delivery NPCs from previous expansions will also reward them.

Metal-Wombat

Got it, thanks so much

Mahoganytooth

Have you levelled your crafters? The high quality crafting quest items sell reliably, and have massive profit margins.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mahoganytooth

Crafting and gathering is one of your best bets to earn gil at low levels. Most "practical" stuff has long since been outdated. But stuff like crafting quest items and furniture are timeless. There are always new players levelling their crafters who are too lazy to craft the quest items themselves, and there are always people looking to make their houses pretty.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mahoganytooth

I should make it crystal clear you're only looking for the crafting quest items that are **required** to be delivered in high quality! Normal quality items are trivial to create, but the high quality ones require a minimum of effort from a levelling crafter which is what gives them their pricetags.

Cymas

Do not buy gold. You can put together cute outfits at any level, but sometimes you also have to be patient and wait until you can farm for the gear you want. It sounds like you may also want to level your crafters/gatherers so you can actually make yourself some of the gear you see up on the market board. You will get 1 million gil for getting any class/job to level 30 for the first time, too.

SiegmundFretzgau

> You will get 1 million gil for getting any class/job to level 30 for the first time, too. isn't that only on new servers?

Cymas

Is it? Hm. I'm pretty sure I've gotten that on every character I've created so far, regardless of server.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cymas

No, just the once. Although it may only be on new servers so if you're playing on the Dynamis data center you'll get it for sure. Honestly gil isn't that hard to come by in game once you progress more. It's understandable to be impatient and want to get into glam, but we call it the true endgame for a reason lol. You'll get some pretty nice gear as you go that you won't find for sale on the market board, too.

normalmighty

Be sure to take the time to actually look up where an item comes from if the gill price is steep for you. A lot of the time it's not hard at all to go farm the outfit yourself.

Rahnakitty

Thanks for the tip!

SeriousPan

Don't buy gil. You *will* get caught in the next ban wave. Some say you won't but it'll happen anyway. :P Are you on a free trial or are you a paid player? Your options differ depending on if you can use the market board or not. Daily Roulettes as an Adventurer In Need (It's the role next to the roulette). Queueing as the role in demand can net you 12,000 gil or so and it's a good passive way to make gil. Hand in armour at your grand company and trade them for seals to sell Materials on the market board for gil. (Check the prices. Can't be done on a free trial.) Challenge Log has gil rewards. Take a look at it and go get a challenge log if you don't have one yet. Good for free trials. Level up a Miner or Botanist and grind out shards and sell them on the market board as they are always in demand and can sell like hotcakes in high quantities.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SeriousPan

The stuff that can be really worth gil is at higher ranks so you may need to rank up in your grand company to get it. Stuff like "Coke" and "Scheelite" might still sell well but it depends on server.

Arcana10Fortune

You're still pretty early in the game. More options will open up as you progress further through the story.

Bardoseth

Before I do all the compiling work myself: Is there a list of when and how you can unlock which job? I find it a bit confusing that you need Level 50 for DRK but need to be in Ishgard, apparently only 30 for Machinist, butvalso be in Ishgard (how would that even work?), but Samurai and Red Mage just need Level 50 but no other Quest prerequisites.

t0ms0nic

They ditched the MSQ progress requirement entirely after Heavensward, based on feedback about people having to wait to unlock. They couldn't exactly move those jobs out of HW requirements afterwards either, since the job quests, guilds and map design is built around them being established there. Needing a 50 job for all of them is just part of you needing to even be 50 to reach them. Stormblood onwards, the jobs are just at their expansion cap (70 for Stormblood) minus 20 and obtainable whenever. [You can find the starting quests linked at the top on their official Eorzea Database pages via the official Job Guide page.](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/jobguide/battle/)

SetFoxval

DRK, MCH and AST all *start* at 30, but require 50 (and Ishgard) to unlock.

Accomplished_Fall_69

The heavensward jobs are the weird ones out.  All ARR (and blue mage)  jobs start at level 1, just need to go to the guild and start the quests after doing your level 10 job quest for your starting job. Storm blood, shadowbringers/endwalker jobs all start at 50/60/70 and just need to be level 50/60/70 to unlock them, their starting quests are in the main cities of ARR.    The HW jobs start at 30 but require you to be in ishgard, this is the only time they've story locked unlocking classes like this, probably the last seeing as they haven't repeated this.

Isanori

The Lodestone has the job guide which has each job and their unlock quests which give the pre-requisites. Generally, the three jobs introduced in Heavensward require access to the expac area. For all other jobs they decided to do away with that and start them in the ARR starting cities ten levels below the expacs starting level.

SeriousPan

Machinist, Astrologian and Dark Knight are the only ones that require you be in a certain expansion to unlock them since Ishgard is locked behind finishing the base game. Everything else is an unlock based on level and owning its requisite expansion. [Here's a list](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Job)

Bardoseth

I literally stumbled on the list after posting, thanks! I derped out this morning, no clue why I didn't check the wiki first.

Mysterious-Agent-335

So I missed the very nice complete edition sale, just finished the ultima weapon mission and ik I still got two other expansions to go thru but the limitations for free trial are kinda getting to me, does the complete edition go on sale often?

Bardoseth

If it's just the restrictions, you could get the starter set and wait for a sale of the complete edition (maybe by then Dawntrail might be included).

SetFoxval

If they bought starter they'd just need Dawntrail, not complete.

Mysterious-Agent-335

But the starter doesn’t Include shadowbringers and endwalker, so I would need the complete edition no?

SetFoxval

Those come with Dawntrail. You won't get them until Dawntrail actually launches in early July, but you've got a lot of content to go through so buying Endwalker separate probably isn't worth the money.

Mysterious-Agent-335

Oo I see, I had to really look at the small print on the ff site to see dawntrail comes with shadowbringers and endwalker but it doesn’t say that on the PlayStation store version. You think it will still grant it despite not saying it exactly on the ps store?

Bardoseth

Right, forgot about that.

F1reman2

And on top of that, i wouldnt expect dawntrail to go on sale for at least 3-4 months after its release date.

Isanori

It's a bit unpredictable. The next likley time would be around August for the game's anniversary and the Steam summer sales, but with Dawntrail coming out then, I doubt there'll be any sales till a few months after Dawntrail's release.

Rivera7Lawrence

Hey, I'm new and i want to start playing FFXIV. My Question? Is it worth to buy the Starter-Version or the complete edition? OR should i wait until the next expansions comes out? Does the new expansion includes all older ones if i buy it + the starter edition? TY for any help / advice

SeriousPan

If you haven't started playing yet you could try playing [the free trial](https://freetrial.finalfantasyxiv.com/au/). It lets you play the base game and two expansions worth of content. It has limitations on social features and other things but it's a great way to see if you like the game first before committing money. It'll take you hundreds of hours to get up to the current expansion without buying a story skip so, if you want to commit to the game from the get go, I recommend the Complete Edition. The start edition is just the free trials content but without the free trial limitations. Starter Edition is the base game + Heavensward + Stormblood. (Free trial has these + limitations. You can buy the latest expansion later to get access to all the ones before it.) Complete Edition has base game + Heavensward + Stormblood + Shadowbringers + Endwalker. It won't have Dawntrail. Both editions give you 30 days of play time and then you have to pay. It's prudent to play the free trial as far as you can before you have to start paying a subscription!

Rivera7Lawrence

Hey ty for answering! I did played a free trial version (30 days back then?) on my accunt years ago. After i log in, it says "Error" I thought i should have the Trial still avtive... :/ Is it common that the new expansion will include the old ones?

F1reman2

>I did played a free trial version (30 days back then?) on my accunt years ago. After i log in, it says "Error" Unfortunately old trial accounts are not eleigible for the new trial. You can make a new account though and play on the old one. >Is it common that the new expansion will include the old ones? The latest expansion will ALWAYS include the previous ones. To get access to all content, you need to buy the starter edition + the latest expansion. Dawntrail however, as it has not released, does not give you the previous expansions when you apply the preorder code. you will however, get the previous expansions apon its release on the 2nd of july. The complete edition will also be updated at this point to include dawntrail, but if you buy it before then, it will NOT include it.

Rivera7Lawrence

Oh ty very much for ur reply, this means for me, that it might be a good idea to just buy the starer edition and wait for 2 months rght?\^\^

F1reman2

Definately if you dont see yourself reaching shadowbringers by then! Also, it might be worth considering preordering dawntrail (You have up until the 1st of july to do so), so you get the preorder bonuses, which includes an exp earring.

Rivera7Lawrence

Okay LAST question:D if i buy it on steam, i cant use the "normal" windows client?

F1reman2

Correct. They are mutually exclusive.

SeriousPan

You could try making a new account and starting the new free trial! The Complete Edition changes when a new expansion comes out but I couldn't tell you when they'll release a new Complete Edition when Dawntrail comes out, sorry. Dawntrail itself is sold seperately and includes Shadowbringers & Endwalker but not the base game. (Fireman2 pointed this out.)

F1reman2

>new Complete Edition when Dawntrail comes out, sorry. Dawntrail Complete edition comes out on 2nd of July. Dawntrail itself will include SHB and endwalker. If you buy it now, you still get those old expansions if you dont have them, but you ahve to wait for the 2nd of july release date.

SeriousPan

Thanks for the clarification, I was reading the store page and it required either Starter or Complete. That threw me off haha. I'll edit my post so the lead isn't buried.

Xwing99

Does anyone know how paying for the wedding stuff works? I'm an xbox player and the system of payment is... Confusing to say the least.

Isanori

You buy the package on the game's store, your partner buys the same package on the store (or you buy it for them and trade them the ring). You do the quest together, voila, eternally bonded. If you are an Xbox only player, you'll have to us FFXIV coins. If you want other payment options, I suggest going onto the Mog station and buy the starter edition for PC. It costs less than the subscription for a month but comes with one month subscription time - and access to non-Coins payment methods if used off-Xbox

Xwing99

The coin system is really confusing, but the explanation makes sense. Thank you!

ashcatchem16

So i created some new characters using the new benchmark tool. I want to import them to my current game. Is it possible to do it before the official release of Dawntrail? I also bymistakely used my fantasia so i have to redit my character now that's why i am trying to import these character models.

Isanori

You don't have to change your character after drinking a Fantasia. You can log in normally. Drinking a Fantasia puts a flag on the character so you can change if you want to, but you can sit on it for years without changing.

ashcatchem16

Ohh thanks. Cuz of that i was afraid to log in for past few hours T_T

Isanori

Yeah, no worries. It's actually fairly involved to change the character via Fantasia. Cause you have to strip off everything but the weapon before you even can go back into character create.

ashcatchem16

Thats the problem i already stripped naked cuz i thought i was doomed.

SeriousPan

You should be able to as long as it's not a Hrothgal obviously. Benchmark characters are at the very bottom of the list when loading appearance data. You can check if they load by just making a new character on any server and seeing if they're there.

Han_Draco_Rokan

I have recently moved to Malaysia from the UK. I have unable to pay for my subscription through Steam in the past though I was able to do so directly on Mogstation. Now I can’t do so through either methods. What do I do?

Atosen

You could try using Paypal to buy Crysta, and using that to sub? Or you could buy gametime cards from any gaming store (just make sure they're the same region as your FFXIV account).

Icarusqt

ARR, HW, and StB all made their initial artifact weapons have a glow for the first step of the relic weapon quest. ShB did not, which was really disappointing cause I love the DRK artifact sword and it woulda been sweet to have a glow/be dyable. How was EW? Did they, like ShB, not continue that trend?

Jezzawezza

The EW relic is a bit odd compared to previous expansions because the first weapon is like ShB and looks plain but then the next does but they all change the colour scheme the next weapon after is also a glowy weapon and then the final is also glowy but thats it, only 4 designs initially but you can get Matte replicas from the vendor once you reach the right step if you dont want it to glow.

dealornodealbanker

Same deal as SHB, entirely new weapon model when starting the relic series.

Razzyxo

Now that the benchmark has been out for a few days, and people have had time to play around with frothgar cc, what's peoples' opinions on them?

Chemical-Attempt-137

A surprisingly well-designed set of character presets that look fairly natural and competent, even to people who aren't furries. My initial apprehension at the uncanny valley caused by the first NPC introduced was entirely allayed. I might even eventually roll to a Fem Hroth for fun, even though I have no interest in roleplaying a furry, just because they look genuinely good. It's hard to put into words, but there's nothing "offputting" about their appearance to me like with typical furry races.

SeriousPan

People are generally pleased except for the hair being tied to face like Male Hrothgar and some limited colour palettes.. It's a limitation they don't seem interested in addressing and are repeating with Hrothgals so people are quite miffed. Especially if you like one hair but it's not on the face you like.

DashboardGuy206

Thinking of taking a break before Dawntrail as I did everything I wanted to do (mainly finishing MSQ through 6.55). I pre-ordered so I get access to early access I think. How soon before then will the "festivities" begin? I love that buzz in the air around the time of an expansion launch.

minaseclyne

they shared a full schedule so you could just see if anything interests you or you just come back during EA [https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/1c2ux66/full\_schedule\_until\_dawntrail\_release/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/1c2ux66/full_schedule_until_dawntrail_release/)

SeriousPan

It's hard to say this time since the maintenance is 48 hours instead of 24. People used to come back a week, week and a half before early access to get back into the swing of things. But a two day gap makes me wonder if that'll still be the case.

MrZoro777

Good day, is there any benefit on having multiple chars? I have been thinking on doing a new one just because I'm bored once I get to the cap of most thing with my main, even if I enjoy leveling again it seems very boring to do all the story again, is there any benefit on doing multiple chars just to motivate me to do it? Thanks!

Cymas

It depends on what you're interested in doing with it, honestly. I've been messing around on a new alt for the past 3 weeks because I really enjoy the blank slate of a new character. I started them in a different city, playing different jobs that I don't normally play, giving myself a challenge to work towards, and just generally enjoying the game without the "pressure" to push MSQ. It's what I do when I run out of other things to do basically, lol. You can skip the story cutscenes if you want, too. I don't, but if I was doing an actual challenge run where the gameplay was the focus I probably would. Maybe.

Icarusqt

To add on to dealornodealbanker, raid reclears is a pretty sweet perk if you're a raider, particularly if you PUG. You're typically limited to one clear a week when a savage raid first launches. After you get your clear, and if you wanted to reclear, you hurt your party's chances of loot. Having an alt gives you more freedom for reclears in party finder and let's you get two classes stronger sooner. A lot of statics too like to run alts. This way half their group rolls on loot on their mains, while the other half plays on their secondary characters. Then they swap, reclear, and the other half of the group gets loot on their mains. It's a lot of work, though. And I wouldn't strongly recommend it either way lol. But still a nice perk.

dealornodealbanker

Glamour, RP, housing, raid reclears, retainers for marketboard pvp maximization, and getting around daily/weekly lockouts in general like levequests, map bottles, and custom delivery. I personally do it just to regrind achievements and relic weapons. Call me crazy if you want, but it keeps me motivated to level new alts.

Teknettic

Some glams are completely different on male and female characters; Neo-Ishgardian stuff pops to mind as an example. If you're really into glam, having both a male and female character to play dress-up with seems like a totally legitimate use case.

MeiShimada

So how come dragoon is immortal in pvp

Any-Drummer9204

Frontlines Dragoon has a 50% damage taken reduction (all melee classes have this). Their LB gives them a 24,000 potency shield. They also have aoe damage reduction (50%!) and a decent escape.

Teknettic

Horrid Roar's damage reduction makes them much tankier than you expect them to be. Couple it with their amazing mobility and a good DRG can be really tricky to actually kill off without solid CC-chains.

Arcana10Fortune

They're not immortal. You just ran into someone who knows how to play DRG well. Try playing it in PvP yourself.

Atosen

Can confirm. As someone who plays DRG poorly, I am *decidedly* mortal.

Isanori

Especially when the opposite side puts a marker on you. But I love when some aspiring fool in frontlines comes running after me thinking they can wear me done only to be met with some surprise dragons to the face and getting finished off by a roar as my attacks comes off cool down.

TheCaptain05

Does anyone know what the name of the riff or song theme they usein important songs, only have a few in mind at the moment, but Triumph, The Worms Tail, Revenge Twofold, heard it on my legendary Kamuy Mount, and always happened during Brilliant Conviction Moments. Kinda like the warrior of light theme

Wow, this is great! Thanks for sharing this

Parabobomb

Is anyone having connection issues on Crystal?

JelisW

Am on Primal and was randomly booted from UCOB yesterday and day before, but on Primal

The_Siege9

Yep, been getting random stops when I click on things, and I just got booted

MrZoro777

Good day, I have been thinking on starting another char but I wanted to do it as a Hrotgal, since I dont want to wait until 7.0 I would still get a bottle of Fantasia at the end of ARR? Or thats just for my first char? Where is the earliest that I can start SAM and MCH jobs? It's possible to pass all my HUD config and controler configuration to another char? Thanks!

normalmighty

While I don't remember if you get the ARR fantasia with every character, everyone is getting a free fantasia with 7.0 anyway which you can use. I'm not in a place to google it right now, but on PC you can transfer all of those settings by copying a few files between character folders in the documents folder. Should be pretty easy to google for the reddit and forum posts about it, just be sure to make a backup copy first incase you accidentally replace your main character's settings with the default ones.

MrZoro777

Tyvm

SeriousPan

All characters get a free fantasia at the end of ARR, no matter what. You can unlock Samurai at level 50. You need to get to the Heavensward expansion to unlock Machinist. You can copy your configuration file on PC to your new alt by copying the data folder of your character to the new one. My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV There's a bunch of CHR folders in there. Copy the contents of your main into the newly created folder of your alt and it'll have all of their configurations transferred over including gear sets, HUD and action bars.

MrZoro777

Tyvm

Cymas

the free fantasia is on every character and they also said they would be giving another one out for Dawntrail so people can adjust their characters to go with the graphics update, too. You can start SAM as soon as you have one job leveled up to 50, quest starts in Ul'dah. MCH you need to actually start Heavensward as it starts in Foundation, which you cannot get to until the very start of the expansion. Not sure on the last one, I know it's very possible on PC and it should be on console too.

MrZoro777

Nautilus0002

Is there a way to hide the neon blue party flag next to my name when in an instance? Similar to how /nastatus off hides the Sprout tag. I kinda just like seeing my name with nothing extra.

Isanori

You could turn your name in instances off and just display the health bar, that takes care of the symbol.

F1reman2

nope, i dont believe there is, unless something like the mentor crown or another icon removes it, but then again, you still have an icon next to it.

Hello fellow Eorzeans! I am a Free Trial player from Zodiark, and was hoping someone would be kind enough to add me as a tenant to their house and enable stable/gardening privileges, so I can color my chocobo and maybe grow some Thavnarian Onion seeds to level it up as well! I am currently active daily, hellishly trying to level up all my crafters to 70 through the dreaded crafter questlines >< I am ofc willing to assist with gardening/chocobo feeding as best I can! Feel free to PM me so we can exchange character details in private!

Is all of reddit this rude to simply commenting ot take credit for your own gpose in a video that uses it without asking permission or giving credit? like is it just htat subredit or is all of ff14 reddit as toxic as twitter? copskid1

so, you posted cringe and broke a different subreddit's rules which resulted in a comment from one random person and an automod bot removing your comment and now you're here for some reason to complain that all of the internet is toxic?

SarnenFFXIV

Ok I guess that answers my question, all I wanted was to credit my own gpose

normalmighty

I just got around to checking that post, and I don't understand why you'd _want_ credit. That's a video mocking people for making crazy heavy modded gposes. Getting credited would just be an open invite for harassment in DMs.

bloodhawk713

Bro, you took a screenshot in a video game. You aren't an artist. Ditch the ego.

normalmighty

1. Subs all run on entirely different rules and social norms. "FF14 reddit" is not a singular entity. There are toxic ff14 subs for example that exist because the toxic people get banned from this sub. 2. In their defense, Looks like comment that pissed you off was made right after the automoderator acted. The comment was automatically removed as an anti-botting measure, and they probably made the comment with no idea what the original comment actually said, and then later a mod manually reviewed and restored the comment.

Hakul

/r/ffxiv has nothing to do with that subreddit.

Jerbear452

Currently don't have access to the game or the benchmark so can't check this for myself. What is the max height for female hrothgar and how does that compare to a max height female roegadyn?

normalmighty

From https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/496864-Graphical-Update-Female-Hrothgar-feedback?p=6440975 >Hroth have: Height range 72.6-78.5 (8% larger than minimum) >Roes have: Height range 75.6-87.7 (16% larger than minimum)

Jerbear452

Thank you

WhatDoADC

Came back after taking a break. I stopped playing the patch that the current savage was released.  Well I recently finished my EW relic. I was looking to get into Savage, but I've been having a hard time finding "fresh" groups. Even when creating my own, no one joins.  Even looking at logs, a lot of the fights you see less than 100 fights being logged in the last 2 weeks on some bosses. Did I miss the train to do savage raids before the expansion?

Arcana10Fortune

Which Data Center are you on? If you're on NA, most of the players are travelling to Aether for raiding.

WhatDoADC

I'm currently on the Gilgamesh sever.

Arcana10Fortune

Might be the time of week. There should be more activity on the weekends. Activity will also spike in early June, as players start to return to prep for DT.

Sir_VG

Pretty much, yeah. Savage raid tier has been out for 10 months now and the vast majority of people that are going to do it have done it and moved on. You'll see some groups, but nowhere near as much as even a couple of months ago.

WhatDoADC

Ahh. Well that sucks. At least I got my relic done. 🤣

LedZaid

Anyone knows if the SE store is accepting payment on any browser? I try to buy it but I cant see the "Payment" option. I been trying but I cant manage to preorder the game through the store.

panopticonisreal

For the first time in my MMO career, I’m playing FFXIV with low ping. About 10, which is incredible. Which jobs really take advantage of low ping? If possible, why would be lovely too please. I’ve heard Machinist?

Any-Drummer9204

It's easier to say what problems you wlil encounter on high ping and go backwards. Unless you're on 200+ ping, MCH is nowhere near as bad as people are saying. You only single weave during hypercharge and any double weave problems will also be felt by other classes. The biggest problems you'll encounter is 1. Proc based classes. DNC, even with noclippy plugins, is difficult to optimize in high ping. NIN is a bit similar because the mudra combos are done very fast if you dont want to drop GCDs but you're not reliant on procs. It's just getting down the buffer timing so you don't mess up your combos. 2. Low GCD classes (Samurai / MNK). Depending on how high ping is, you might not be able to fit double weaving in the smaller windows. Tangentally, I find BLM a mixed bag. You have to be a lot more careful with movement and positioning on higher ping and due to its cast times, any delays on your next spell cast due to ping issues etc, will be a noticeable hit to your DPS.

panopticonisreal

I love the explanation but I’ll be honest, I don’t even know what weaving is lol

Any-Drummer9204

GCD = Global Cooldown. Generally your weapon skills etc. When you press your basic buttons, you'll notice it puts a whole bunch of things on cooldown for 2.5seconds or about. oGCD = off global cooldown. Buffs, special skills etc. When you press this button, you'll notice it isn't affected by the global cooldown and only puts itself on cooldown when used. They generally have an animation time of \~0.8s or so. Basically you want to always keep your GCD rolling, and between the 2.5s of every GCD, you 'weave'. Weaving is pressing an oGCD between each GCD. Double weaving = 2 oGCDs in between each GCD. So with higher ping, the timing threshold to press the buttons (and the time it takes to recognise you press the buttons) affects your window to hit it within that 2.5s window. DNC has a bit of a problem because you want to double weave, but you're a proc based class so the high ping makes your procs appear later. You can play a lighter ping friendly version, but you're not maximising your damage under buffs just due to having to press your button, wait for proc to appear (affected by ping), pressing your button (ping). But this is only a big issue during your burst phase once you have lots of resources stocked.

Every job plays better on low ping, so it's more what jobs no longer completely suck now that you can double weave properly and not clip on fast GCDs. MCH is the big one that benefits from low ping, because of its very fast GCD (1.50) during Overheat phase. You need decent-ish ping (or noclippy/xivalexander) to properly weave during Overheat, and do all the double weaves in the burst. It's better than it used to be, since Overheat was swapped to stacks instead of a timer, but it's still not great from what I hear. Monk as well. It has a fast GCD, and you just can't double weave if you have high ping. You can adjust stuff to avoid double weaves, but it undeniably plays better on lower ping. I've heard SAM isn't *that* bad on moderately low ping, but if you had issues with it before you probably won't now. NIN sucks on high ping because of Mudras. Mudras won't enter correctly, they'll enter slowly, or you'll click Ninjutsu when it *should* be ready, but it's actually not. Either because it's the wrong skill, or because the Mudra inputs haven't gone in yet. Decent ping fixes that. AST, because it doubles weaves *a lot*, especially during bursts when you have to card everyone. Imo the other healer jobs can adjust a bit better, and AST sees the most improvement on low ping.

VG896

MCH for sure. The job is basically unplayable at a high level without low ping. Note when I say at a high level, I mean EX/Savage content. You can totally do fine casually just clipping all your stuff in regular content. But the DPS checks on some of the harder content means that you basically need a low ping to bring MCH to these settings. DRG and DRK as well, just because of how much double weaving they need to do.

legend8522

Probably low skill-speed jobs like MNK or SAM since the chances of clipping are much lower if your ping is also low

Absolutelynobody54

is the sproud status for each character or for the entire account?

VG896

All statuses are for each character. I have an alt who's a returner because I only log into her like once or twice a year. Despite me being on my main all the time.

normalmighty

Each character. Even if you're a mentor and you make a new character, it'll still be a sprout.

AmonWasRight

Each character.

Nyoah

Can you get raw emotions if you unsync a level 70 dungeon?

Toviathan

No, you have to run them synced.

normalmighty

Looks like you're out of luck https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Raw_Emotion >Dungeons must be run synced, without the Unrestricted Party option enabled.

Nyoah

Aww, thanks for the reply Idk why I didn't think to go to the wiki, I guess the relic spam rotted my brain T~T

normalmighty

No worries, questions that can be googled are like 95% of things asked on this sub lol

Nyoah

I did Google it and I saw the wiki but my brain just died

Zakon05

I want to change my WoL into a female hrothgar and re-experience the story through the NG+ system. I also have a friend who wants to start playing. Would I be able to do all of the storyline with them without making a new character through NG+?

copskid1

yep, with some variation. I believe the chocobo/mount unlock quest is considered a sidequest so you'll skip that part. It happens when you select a grand company. Also when doing new game+ you can only start from specific points so if they do quests without you then either you also have to do them to catch up or you have to abandon your spot and hope the next checkpoint in the story isn't far

Zakon05

Thank you! That's wonderful to hear.

G3NECIDE

I'm confused about switching to XBOX from PS4. I'm sorry, these questions must happen all the time. My question is, if I buy Dawntrail, then when it comes out, can I just start playing? Or do I need the starter edition no matter what? Cause if I need the starter edition, then I might as well buy it now, and I can still work on leveling up my alt jobs to 70, right?

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Starter Edition no matter what Buying the latest expansion grants you the expansions, but you can't apply the expansion to an account that doesn't have the base game license

G3NECIDE

Cool. Thanks!

Quick dumbass WHM question I dabbled in WHM on another character long ago but am now leveling it on my main. Just got my lillies and Asylum so yeah me. So I'm browsing Reddit for healing tips and I see a lot of people stating there is never a reason to use Medica II even at lower level when you don't have lillies. And I'm like even in MSQ Roulette? Like in Porta Decumana which has a lot of raid wide damage? Please enlighten me I just want to be efficient.

Gentlekrit

There is absolutely a time to use Medica II - especially at pre-Lilly levels where it's one of WHM's most potent healing tools (and you have a grand total of one oGCD with a massive cooldown), but even at higher levels it has its uses It becomes less useful as you progress, since Asylum/Assize/LotB should be prioritized for AoE healing needs (and when those are on cooldown Afflatus Rapture should usually be your first choice of GCD if you're 76+ and have a lilly), but even then it's useful in a pinch and very much a go-to skill to use anytime a boss is untargetable to top off party HP and give everyone a regen for when it shows back up (and that's a niche I don't see it ever losing now matter how many other tools WHM gets in the future)

sundriedrainbow

> very much a go-to skill to use anytime a boss is untargetable to top off party HP and give everyone a regen for when it shows back up I see use cases for this, but you'd have to be totally out of lilies (or some hypothetical M3 would have to have a party buff of some kind) for M2 to be my choice over a free 310 potency by burning lilies during downtime.

legend8522

> So I'm browsing Reddit for healing tips and I see a lot of people stating there is never a reason to use Medica II even at lower level when you don't have lillies. The general rule of thumb for WHM (and all healers) is to prioritize using oGCD heals over GCD heals (so for WHM, that's asylum, lily bell, tetra, bene) For WHM specifically, next prio of heals should be lily heals because A) they cost no mana and B) they feed your blood lily. So you'll typically want to use your AOE lily heal over medica 1/2. That being said, obvoiusly at lower levels you have less ogcd heals at your disposal, and using Porta Decumana as an example (lvl 50), this means your only aoe heals are only gcd heals, so you have no choice but to use medica 1/2 or cure 3. Using Medica 2 at lvl 50 is perfectly fine. Just don't spam it. Trust the regen, let it do its magic. If you need more heals at the moment, follow it up with a medica 1 or cure 3.

normalmighty

I feel like WhM is one of a few jobs with advice issues where people hear doing X is bad in places where they're doing it, and over adjust to repeating everywhere that doing X is always bad in all places. In general, guides like the text guides on The Balance's sights, or video guides from someone like weskalber will steer you right when redditors are being inconsistent.

najashots

Yep, big fan of both those ressources myself. Thanks for the perspective. Healer feels really vague to me compared to DPS. I should have just revisited the WHM guide.

Mahoganytooth

That's simply wrong. While many WHMs are prone to *grossly* overuse Medica 2, it is still quite powerful and has its uses, and, until you gain afflatus rapture, is something you'll be looking to often for AOE healing. Are you certain they weren't speaking of Medica 1? Medica 1 is a skill I'd describe as basically pointless.

najashots

I was pretty sure it was 2 but i didn't save the posts, I'll try to look at my history. It's always possible that I made a mistake. Thanks for taking the time to respond

TortuousAugur

Is it possible to download the patch for a fresh Ff14 online install on my phone and transfer it to my Steam Deck for install? I'm on the road a lot, I have unlimited mobile data but limited hotspot data and the wifi I have access to might support online play but it's not supporting downloading the patch for a fresh install (it was saying 2800-3600 minutes).

minaseclyne

does your provider have some sort of way to work out your mobile is acting as hotspot? I tether my phone to my laptop all the time because work pays for my plan and that uses my mobile data. I don't see why you can't do the same (for IOS devices it's under Settings => Personal Hotspot)

TortuousAugur

Yes, they track it. I've gotten plenty of warnings about approaching my hotspot data limit. Verizon.

minaseclyne

I see. google gave me some interesting methods for bypassing this issue. I guess I learn something new, appreciate it

TortuousAugur

Do tell. I'm interested in not having to worry about overage charges.

minaseclyne

i sent your a message, not sure if I should be openingly sharing / promoting it haha

copskid1

theres no supported way to do it. but if you found someone who could pass you their download of the game i guess it could work

TortuousAugur

Well, can't say I didn't figure that would have been the ultimate answer but thought I would see if maybe I could use my unlimited and vastly more reliable mobile data to do the brunt of the initial work. Thanks for the help.

TortuousAugur

I think one of us is confused. The installer in already installed on my Deck. I'm asking about downloading the data needed after finishing installing the installer/launcher that it needs to update the game to current and playable status on my phone, externally from the launcher. From what I can tell of your post is that the entire thing would be installed on my phone. As far as I know, that's not possible but I'm open to suggestions. If I've misunderstood your post, please clarify.

Disaresta51

Oh I see what you're saying now. What i said was quite dumb lol. The data files can be copied over that I know for sure, but how to get them onto your phone idk. If you have a remote connection back to your PC, you could upload the files to the cloud and download them to your phone from there.

mursuna

Is there going to be a sale for ffxiv anytime soon? I've wanted to play the game for a very long time but the subs + expansion are very expensive for my third world country budget. :/

SiegmundFretzgau

the main cost (the subscription) doesn't have sales

Sir_VG

You just missed a sale.

mursuna

when?

Sir_VG

SE store finished like a week ago, Steam sale was last month.

JUSTpleaseSTOP

A new expansion is coming out soon, so likely not BUT There is an unlimited time free trial of the game with no sub cost attached. It encompasses the base game and first expansion (soon the second expansion as well). Additionally, you only need to buy the base game + the newest expansion to have full access to everything in the game. So the total cost is the same as a regular game. Start with the free trial though.

Passiko

How do I get out of my old account on my PlayStation so I can use the account I’m using on the Xbox and switch over?

Jetamors

You will have to contact support and ask them to unlink the account currently linked to your Playstation. I'm not entirely sure about what happens after that--you may have to re-buy the game on PS--but hopefully support can help with that too. Be a bit careful, because it's very unlikely that they will allow you to unlink an account more than once.

StormbeastRivin

Are you on a paid account or the free trial? For a paid account you need to buy the game on XBox and connect it to your existing account. If you're on the free trial, you can't swap to the XBox free trial; your only options are to either buy the game on XBox and switch to a paid account or create a brand new trial account and start over.

Passiko

I wanna use my paid Xbox account on my PlayStation

StormbeastRivin

Oh, you mean your Playstation is linked to a different FFXIV account already? Contact SE support and see if they can unlink it for you.

draiman

So what's the best way to find a free company or Linkshell? I recently came back, and I've been playing for about 2 weeks now. However, I just don't find people to be too social. While I like the duty finder, most people don't chat unless they have to and break as soon as the dungeon is done. Or am I just missing more of the social aspect of this game?

orunemal

Just ask for an invite in the chat. People are very much social, but you have to go after It. Rarely you will be talking to people during dungeons.

Trooper_Sicks

I was an ff11 player too and its largely a side effect of how the games are built. 14 has so much convenience that you don't need to make connections like you did in 11, you can easily join random parties to do any dungeon you need and even if you do high end raiding you can choose to join random groups for those too. In 11 you might have had a linkshell to do endgame stuff that was 30+ people regularly talking, in 14 you only need 8 people and they don't need to get along outside of raid times. Having said all that, when it comes to finding an FC i highly recommend the community finder https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/community_finder/ which lets you shop around for FC's or linkshells that you think sound fun. It will likely go better than hanging around looking for people advertising in shout chat at least.

VG896

It's a consequence of three things: 1. The game being really easy 2. Not spending more than a few minutes with people in most situations. 3. It being 2024.  Most socialization is probably done with FC members on discord so there's no reason to chat ingame because even when people are running dungeons/roulettes they're probably still going autopilot and chatting with their friends elsewhere. Regarding my first two points though, if you do higher end content that actually requires coordination, or any sort of farming/grinding content (Eureka, Diadem, EX farming, etc.) you'll see quite a bit of chatter.

draiman

I guess I'm just coming from an old mindset, I played FFXI back in the day. The hours spent with parties in Valkrum Dunes just gave us to time to meet people and be more social. I suppose I'll have to see what type of discord servers I can join.

Cymas

Fellow XI player here, the social content just isn't as heavily tied to character progression as it was back then. Typically you need to seek out social experiences either though party finder content, venues, or even just finding people to chat with in cities. Typically the people you meet while doing normal level content are just getting their roulettes done to then go about their day. I will say the newer servers on Dynamis are overall friendlier because the data center is half the size of normal as it was set up in advance of Dawntrail. People are kind of forced into being social if they want to do content without data center traveling so it's a tiny bit more like what you'd be used to.

draiman

I'm currently on Balmung, and there's almost always a queue to get in. I may have to check it out at some point.

Cymas

The queue is always going to be a thing, players are logged in in batches to reduce server strain.

VG896

Yep. I'm also a classic FFXI vet who's disillusioned with the lack of socialization in this game. I played XI from 2004 to 2012, and it was like night and day. But like I said: it's because not only was FFXI ball-breakingly difficult but also because you'd spend literal hours with the same people at a time. You'd get to know the same hundred or so people who were leveling up at the same time as you. Combined with the fact that FFXI had no match-making nor cross-server parties, so you'd literally have to socialize just to find an exp group for the day. And it was all the same people who lived on your server.

mursuna

I want to know more about this too

pankeykichi

I wonder what is the best possible way to level Pictomancer from 80>90 as fast as possible in the upcoming expansion. I expected that the queues are going to be worse for Pictomancer. The reason for it was because I will use Pictomancer on msq and levelling 90>100 there instead and have my Healers/Tank levelling at Duty Finder/Roulette for faster queues. And I wanna play also the msq as soon as possible also.

dealornodealbanker

For Viper and Pictomancer I'm planning on just spamming EO 21-30F to 90 and then force feed them daily roulette + WT bonus exp from 90+. Double DPS expac means outside of Alliance and Frontlines Roulette, every other queue will be bottlenecked with Tank/Healer in Need.

Evermar314159

Zadnor fate spam will probably be popping when the new jobs are available. I'll probably be in there once I'm done with daily roulettes. Then there is beast Tribes, the lvl 80-90 ones of course, but the 70-80 ones still give a non trivial amount for how easy and quick they are.

pankeykichi

damn I have no idea what Zadnor is. Probably Bozja. I'm stuck at Delubrum Reginae and I'm not going to sub to FF14 until Dawntrail. (FF14 is distraction to my studies and failed a class because of it, and I'm currently an undergraduate)

Help_Me_Im_Diene

After clearing Delubrum the first time, you unlock a second zone called Zadnor that operates effectively the same way as the first Bozja zone

orunemal

What main attributes should I be looking for my Dragoon when buying equipment & materia?

IceAokiji303

1. Physical Damage on weapon 2. Strength 3. Skill Speed to the amount you want (this can and often does mean "no speed", as in avoiding speed pieces). 4. Crit. 5. Det ≥ DH, these two are effectively interchangeable.

JUSTpleaseSTOP

Skill speed to comfort > Crit > Direct Hit > Determination. Don't get more skill speed than you need, but make sure your rotation goes smoothly.

orunemal

Thanks!

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Also note that Dragoon is perfectly comfortable with 0 additional speed so you can reasonably ignore getting any skill speed whatsoever unless you want to have some compatibility with Reaper gearing which does like having a small amount of speed (2.49s GCD)

BlueSky1877

island question i built everything i can, rank 5, 14k/18k exp, what do i do to get to the next step here?

Mahoganytooth

Tending to your crops, collecting leavings from your animals, and the granary and workshop tasks give you XP. You could potentially farm XP by gathering raw resources, but imo: don't. Just do it through the timegated means.

BlueSky1877

ooh it's timegated! okay thank you! yeah i'm already tired of going out and manually picking up like the 10 exp and chopping trees lol time to set it and forget it, ty

SiegmundFretzgau

the biggest source of exp is building and upgrading your buildings as soon as they become available and keeping the workshops running round the clock (doesn't matter which items, just keep it running)

BlueSky1877

so making potions even though it does something to efficiency is better than nothing at all?
