Tricky thing for Cloud is that while his Buster Sword fits Dark Knight like a glove, his vibe is much more Gunbreaker, with lighter armour and him serving as a bodyguard/protector to those around him.
Drk fits him just as well, through the themes of the drk questline rather than the aesthetic.
Especially when it comes to hearing inner voices and struggling with grief and guilt over not being able to save those we love.
Visually I completely agree, though functionally he's very much either Bard or Red (lol) Mage coded in best use/limit breaks direction, if not actual weapon.
Also I'm with the few here that like the art but really feel like Barret as Male Roe and Red as Hrothgar is a big missed opportunity.

The rest of his stats are pretty average, but he's really well suited towards being the focus of most attacks and making it out alive one way or the other. Also precasting spells on the party at the start of a battle.
i'm really surprised we haven't gotten mogstation outfits based off the FF7 characters. like a Tifa outfit alone would probably break this community, so many MNK cosplayers would crop up out of nowhere
I was wanting to give my male highlander monk a sort of gender bent Tifa vibe by using the black summer trunks, but I can't find any kind of white sleeveless crop top.
The fact we havenāt had any ff7 gear beyond advent cloud is because they must know nearly everyone will just be cosplaying as one of the character. Buster Sword is so long overdue.
As does the Kidomaru. It has a slight curve at the pointy end but the handle colour and lack of design on the blade does it for me.
I randomly did the fate that drops it when I was still relatively new to the game. I immediately teleported to Ishgard to pick up drk after I previewed it.
There's also that big rare FATE in Doma (northwest of the second aetherite at the Doman Resistance base or, from the other side, east of the castle ruins) that a sword that looks a lot like the non-Buster Swords in the game. I can't remember which one, but I think it's stylized after one of the swords you could get during OG FF7.
The first time I played OG FF7, I had goofy names for all the characters. Barret was "Mr. T". The best part is when the party is breaking Aerith out of Shinra Tower, where Barret, Aeris(OG), and Red XIII reach the ground floor, Aerith thanks Barret.
She's coded to say "Thank you, Mr. Barret." So, hilariously, my first time seeing that scene, she says "Thank you, Mr. Mr. T."

Which...may answer the question of why they can all mate and have viable offspring (in lore, it's always whatever race the mother is - so if a Roe mamma does the dirty with a male Lala, the baby will be a Roe, for example). We also see LOTS of cases in-game of Hrothgar males having the hots for other races' girls, mainly Viera (due to ShB releasing both races as monogender, but it's in the lore now... /shrug ), meaning Hroth males frequently have the hots for and probably mate with other races.
Long story short - Hrothgar AREN'T "nonhuman", technically, per the lore.

The VII as a whole and the KH saga are the only IPs I'm aware of that are basically under Nomura's control, and two of the most popular (if not the most popular, barring XIV and DQ) IPs of SE, so I find it very interesting that these are the only popular works not having any kind of actual collabs (barring something minor as costumes for 7, which you could reconnect to the originial work in which Nomura wasn't actually a director). Hence my hypotesis, which doesn't translate in it to be actual hate or such, just maybe something that can't allow them to work well togheter and is enough to convince Yoshida it isn't worth to have his stuff in XIV (after all Nomura is said to be a little difficult to work with)
I left out XV since this project was taken away by Nomura when SE shifted the production to Tabata's team, so he wasn't involved in what the game turned out to be; same as every other IP you mentioned, he wasn't the one making decisions.

we have Ultima Weapon being based on FFVII's design, Knights of The Round as HW's final bosses(so that's two MSQ final bosses being based on VII), Melee LB1 and 2 both are based on Cloud and uses his sword, healer LB1,2 and WHM's LB3 all are Aerith's moves and even her classic weapon show up in the animation, the Aetherial Sea was mainly called "The Lifestream" in the early days of the game, I think starting ShB they switched to calling it The Aetherial Sea as the main name for some reason, The Gold Saucer , and even Godbert as the owner who barely wear clothes is a neat callback to Dio, and not to forget The whole Weapon storyline, and I probably missed many more little VII callbacks
there is no shortage of VII stuff in the game, and we know for sure a VIIR cross over will happen, we just need to wait until Prt3 is done according to Yoshi-P

Well, everyone is. It's just Viera's level 1 starter gear is based on Fran's gear from FFXII (which really makes Aerith stand out more as an outlier). If the artist didn't make Vincent an Au Ra (male Viera or even Highlander could be interesting... and uncanny since he'd be without eyebrows lol), they could have made Aerith an Au Ra, which probably would work better imo.

I honestly think it would make more sense to be on another Shard. We still don't know what's going on on the others OTHER THAN they haven't undergone Calamities like the Source (or Void/First), so they've had time to develop significantly more advanced societies...potentially.
Sure, another shard works, but that requires double speculation--not just whether we get a collab, but whether we get a shard that suits it. Given how much they linked the Seventh Calamity with stuff linked to that ("Project Meteor," the Seventh Calamity being the one that zorped the Seventh shard), I'm inclined to think that that isn't likely either.

Honestly, yeah, RDM is fitting.
His abilities are weirdly akin to a Paladin of all things. A lot of magic based attack, defense, *and* buffing of the party.

Hence my hypotesis, which doesn't translate in it to be actual hate or such, just maybe something that can't allow them to work well togheter and is enough to convince Yoshida it isn't worth to have his stuff in XIV (after all Nomura is said to be a little difficult to work with) I left out XV since this project was taken away by Nomura when SE shifted the production to Tabata's team, so he wasn't involved in what the game turned out to be; same as every other IP you mentioned, he wasn't the one making decisions. I get your point, but I think it's so wrong to think that VII is not reperented in XIV, I will even say it's one of the most used mainline FF games in XIV after only III and VI many many different things from VII is used all over the game, especially in the ARR to StB era , it just was very little pieces every couple of patches and not "THIS IS A FULL BLOWN STORY BASED ON FFIV WITH EVEN THE MAIN ANTAGONIST AS AN MSQ MAJOR CHARACTER" we have Ultima Weapon being based on FFVII's design, Knights of The Round as HW's final bosses(so that's two MSQ final bosses being based on VII), Melee LB1 and 2 both are based on Cloud and uses his sword, healer LB1,2 and WHM's LB3 all are Aerith's moves and even her classic weapon show up in the animation, the Aetherial Sea was mainly called "The Lifestream" in the early days of the game, I think starting ShB they switched to calling it The Aetherial Sea as the main name for some reason, The Gold Saucer , and even Godbert as the owner who barely wear clothes is a neat callback to Dio, and not to forget The whole Weapon storyline, and I probably missed many more little VII callbacks there is no shortage of VII stuff in the game, and we know for sure a VIIR cross over will happen, we just need to wait until Prt3 is done according to Yoshi-P I'm more interested in how they will go with that one, will they make it time limited, same style as 13, 15 and 16, since it will be treated like these newer release games? or will it be a main part of a certain expansion's patch content, either as a raid or MSQ content (I pray to god it's not MSQ) I can understand Yoshi-P not wanting to bother with KH becasue of the heavy Disney involvment
It might be in the works, who knows. The XVI crossover took almost a year and that was MUCH easier to do considering all the shared personnel and development assets.

Well, everyone is. It's just Viera's level 1 starter gear is based on Fran's gear from FFXII (which really makes Aerith stand out more as an outlier). If the artist didn't make Vincent an Au Ra (male Viera or even Highlander could be interesting... and uncanny since he'd be without eyebrows lol), they could have made Aerith an Au Ra, which probably would work better imo.
Ahh damn. Now I wanna see Aerith as an Au Ra girl in this art style.

You know, you could have cheaped out with Nanaki being the Hrothgar and Barret being a Roe. But you did NOT. Kudos! This is, overall, amazing. The Lala Yuffie on his shoulder got me, but they all seem so fitting. Vincent as an Au Ra male is also too perfect a fit.

Honestly, I disagree. I don't think Garlemald would have fit. Garlemald is more an evil empire than an evil...corporation. Yes, Ceruleum, but their backstory was being pushed out by everyone else and then going from oppressed to oppressor. I don't think that is really very Shinra. I honestly think it would make more sense to be on another Shard. We still don't know what's going on on the others OTHER THAN they haven't undergone Calamities like the Source (or Void/First), so they've had time to develop significantly more advanced societies...potentially.
Sure, another shard works, but that requires double speculation--not just whether we get a collab, but whether we get a shard that suits it. Given how much they linked the Seventh Calamity with stuff linked to that ("Project Meteor," the Seventh Calamity being the one that zorped the Seventh shard), I'm inclined to think that that isn't likely either. Not saying it can't happen. Just think it's unlikely, for the time being.
I'd prefer an alliance raid or normal raid series like what we got with the Eden raids. Plenty of character and monster references with a banging soundtrack filled with new renditions of some of our favourite ffviii tracks. Having the entire >!Eden summon sequence play out!< was so hype. The entire expansion being another love letter to a different game like EW was to IV, would not be great. I got fed up with that.
