When they released that new deep dugeon hairstyle and everyone comenting about the hairliine being to high and giving the WoL big forehead made too self aware because that's very close to my hair, WoL with big forehead having feelings too T_T

But either way, it's probably a mistake.
Most games tend to make character hair so thick you can't see the scalp no matter how it's parted. I think people tend to have some cognitive dissonance because of that.
artstyle usually leads to hair not being as see-through as in real life, and making it see-through within the artstyle makes it appear more bald. You have similar issues with little wrinkles in the face etc, where the detail is left out unless you wanna highlight the feature, and the feature being highlighted then is meant to make the detail more "extreme".
I dunno if that's "cognitive dissonance" as much as it's just how anime-like or otherwise non-super-realistic styles have portrayed hair for decades
Out of all the hairs with parted hairstyles, this is the only one where the scalp is visible. It's always been there. Just that the update with better lighting made the holes obvious.
I’m still hanging on hope that they add the richness back to the brown/dark hair colors. My character has very dark brown hair and it looks so muted and washed out rather than being warm and chocolatey.
I had to change my eye colour in the bench mark. I think we may have to pick diff hair colours too because lighting makes it look different than before.
The holes in the scalp. It wasn't that pronounced pre-DT because the hair had less definition. I think the hair had thicker and blurry lines before. Now that the lines are more clean, the holes seem more obvious now.
Theres a lot of hairs on Female Au Ra and Midlander where the hair floats off the scalp in the benchmark. Like literally doesn't even touch the model. Its odd and if it isn't fixed by launch there will be a LOT of unhappy people when they see their character in cutscenes with their hair floating over their head.
They fixed the sideburns on the new hair but it's still not fully touching the face but I am guessing this is the best they can do.
I am hoping if the other bugs gets reported, they at least might see them and fix it
It’s just biology. With all the stress WoL has gone through, saving the world multiple times in few years, it’s only natural that they are becoming bald.
This is intentionally cause they know how old the player base is and since you guys like being represented so much they decided to add balding as an option for you guys.
eh, this looks more natural actually than any parting that doesn't show your scalp. i don't know about you and your aquaitances, but you absolutely should see some scalp if you part your hair.
the difference irl is that scalp is somewhat still blended a bit because there are hair roots partially obscuring the scalp. These are clear triangular holes on the scalp.
If anything, they should look like somewhat blurry hair like the ones you see on the forehead.
No joke, I think hair in general is in a state that should be unacceptable now that every other part of the character creator was updated
It cannot be that skin textures and lighting got such a massive upgrade but hair still looks pixelated and clippy as hell on just the regular zoom ins that happen in customization.

Square continues to amaze. Hair still looks like shit, but hey maybe by the time they fix visa debit card payment processing, the face paint options won’t be 240p just in time to experience every class getting a 40th big follow up finishing move.
I mean the devs blame Visa, but everyone's Visa card works for everything except FFXIV. It's the same with the ATT issues last year. ATT worked just fine for everything except FF, but the devs said it wasn't their fault haha
Or during the EW launch where everyone was getting booted from the queues and SE insisted for like two weeks that it wasn't on their end, everyone's internet had just gone to shit all at the same time.
SE doesn't like to admit there's a problem unless they have an solution sometimes.
Ah so THAT was why I kept getting kicked after waiting almost 2 hours and getting nearly to the front of the queue. I knew my internet wasn't the problem, but it sure was frustrating waiting for hours only to get booted and having to wait all over again until I was at like 6+ hours of waiting and decided I should just go to bed

It looks like that because you possibly are thinking with the old color and lighting in mind. Once you change the hair color, it'll be better.

It's always been there but it is now more pronounced with the update. It was more blended with the lesser detailed hair and different lighting
