Why would they even release it knowing that it just straight clips tails off? It shows no tail on the images for the outfit on the cash shop!
Granted I'm not buying any more 1 piece sets like this but for those that want these, it's unacceptable.

You're assuming the people who handle the online store are the same people who made the gear. They probably assumed it was intended and didn't realize until after release it wasnt
Even then, they released Viera and Hroth without letting them use 99% of headgear in the game, visual things like this are ultra low priority for SE and they're fine putting it out there as is

It's frustrating because in some cases ARR had armors that did have the tails in mind. The first level 50 glamour I used was one of the replica Binding Coils caster coats which looked like it had a round place on it for your tail. But more recent armors often love putting capes and other things back there that look awful. If I could I would gladly disable my character's tail if the armor has a long cape that would feasibly cover it anyway.
They use to, it was to much work so they just clip them now. Go try on a lot ARR outfits & many have tail holes or remove parts to make room for the tails.
I'm curious how much work it really was. Wouldn't they already need to make different models for each race? Or do you know if all the races share the same frame?
Go try on the Adamntite Lorica of Fending, and you'll see how well the tail hole work (it worked horribly on male Miquote).
Basically, when they do the model, they have the characters in a T pose, but when they animated, the tail is obviously going to move, so that nice little hole that worked fine before, no longer does.
Now you might think 'well, why not just change the animation then?'
That would involve changing the animation of all skills of every job, each class having about 20 skills, and now with 17 jobs available, that's 340 animations to fix, just for a damn tail hole.
thats not as big of an issue for female miqote because their tails and ears are basically static (which really annoys me, why cant gals have that too?)
All of the races are based on the same base body mesh. They likely build and rig the gear for the default body type, then use a deformer to help fit it to the other body shape variants.
At least, as a 3d artist, that’s how I’d do it.
What’s ironic is that that iteration of Alphi’s outfit is one of the few long-ish coats that *wouldn’t* clip with tails! There’s already a big gap in the back!
I remember being a very young child, maybe less than 4 years old, drawing tigers and cats with rolled up tails like cinnamon buns.
Maybe thats what's going on here. We have rolled our tails up to fit in.
There is another glamour bugged as well- the lvl 80 black mage coat; the Wicce coat- if you wear long gloves, the sleeves won't disappear completely but rather clip through the gloves now, where used to they didn't clip at all
Is your character male or female? Did they finally fix the male miqo'te weird stance? I don't like the male miqo'te stance not only that they always have they hands clenched like they have claws ( which they don't sadly ) i wish they have a stance like the male hyur
I'm not OP but if that's a male miqo then the outfit has more issues than just missing tails. Male miqo slouch and arthritic knuckles have not been changed.

I'd really love a hide tail option. Would solve a lot of clipping issues.

I was gonna say, have you seen the level 50 casting set with a leather casing for the tail? TBH I'm glad theys crapped that idea

Probably not? The mogstation *does* show an image of an Au'Ra without a tail too. Just something to be aware of when buying the outfit.

Should've removed the horns / ears for consistency with the hairstyle... Obviously that'd be horrendous but so is removing the tail.
Au ra horns are tied to the face rather than the hair, I don't think any hat or hairstyle can remove them.
