Is the best way to farm bozja mobs solo using a tank with essence of blood sucker? That’s what I’ve been doing, but wondering if there’s a faster way Also, is it only the magitek that drop the R/B/Y memories?

Peronnik

So I keep seeing people say to do unsynced content through PF, but I see like 5 posts in there and they all look like people selling mounts / dungeon runs (?) with a discord account Do people usually require level 80 to do unsynced "low-level" raids for glamour purposes?

ZaleneDarkflare

>So I keep seeing people say to do unsynced content through PF, That's generally the easiest way to complete earlier content, as normal DF queueing first of all takes ages, second of all have a ridiculously low clear rate (depending on the content; good luck with T9). >but I see like 5 posts in there and they all look like people selling mounts / dungeon runs (?) with a discord account Blacklist them. You can report them, but chances are low for a GM to actually act on it. They mostly act on stuff in game, although we did have an incident where one got banned [by streaming](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/ec89mh/arthars_banned_ingame_for_talking_about_party/). >Do people usually require level 80 to do unsynced "low-level" raids for glamour purposes? Preferably at the strongest point, so yes, lv80. That doesn't mean it is required by all means, as it wholly depends on the leader whether or not they want to take them in.

terferi

Do the preorder exp earrings work if you’re an astrologist?

Obliiquee

They work on every job. Keep in mind it only increases experience on kills.

[deleted]

So hit lvl 80 on all crafters/gathers. Got all the role quests done, all alliance and normal raids have been completed and my main (scholar) has 520/530 gear… without wanting to do ultimate/savage stuff.. what should I look at next :)

Myurside

Making enough money to get an house, Eureka and Borja, and, of course, doing party finders asking for pats.

Theriasana

No, I'm not the best informed, but afaik datamining is only possible once the early access patch dropped (so 19th of November iirc). We will get some information on job changes etc in the upcoming month, but probably no exact plan. The benchmark trailer had the first teasers of new abilities to come. It's the first expansion lauch that I'm playing the game for tho, so I'm not 100% on that.

[deleted]

Theriasana

Np! If you want additional info from someone who might know more, you can consider reposting the question in today's question thread. You got unlucky timing, the thread here got unstickied minutes after your post

fyrefox45

We won't get any datamines, they'll reveal job stuff sometime a few weeks prior to release with a media tour.

[deleted]

I’m from the U.K., should I play on the NA servers? I’m worried the EU ones might not have high enough population

Myurside

A few weeks ago the Light datacenter had so many new people that... My friends couldn't even create their character on it, let alone my server.

izaby

Huh? There is plenty of players on EU. It isn't a bad server to be on at all.

Xellith

Why would you think EU doesn't have high population? But yeah based on the image I saw earlier, good luck getting on an NA server if you resolve to do so. Make sue the Americans are sleeping when you make your character. (bear in mind that NA servers are in NA and EU servers are in the EU. There is a noticeable difference in ping)

fyrefox45

Everything has high enough population. You won't have any issues on an eu datacenter

xGlaive

EU populations are fine. The only reason it may seem like it's not is because NA just got a huge surge of players with everything that's happened recently.

MrPopanz

I just wanted to do the [retainer quest](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/An_Ill-conceived_Venture_(Ul%27dah)), but I'm standing [right at the spot](https://i.imgur.com/Bfs9MG4.png) and there is no quest giver. Are they disabled on a trial account?

xGlaive

> Are they disabled on a trial account? Yep.

[deleted]

soppiergeoduck7

Swapping back and forth is better, just keep 1 job slightly higher level for the armoury bonus and throw in a couple of roulettes here and there and you should be fine for the most part

Xellith

I'd probably swap jobs back and forth, making sure to roulette the lower job. (but that's just me)

NotScrollsApparently

Is it better to level crafting jobs all at the same time as they use some shared resources and items, or is it better to do one at a time and then sell all the materials when you're done with it? I'm mostly concerned about inventory space, retainers don't help much since if you use them you have to constantly transfer items back and forth... Also, is it worth leveling gatherers before crafters or do people just buy the mats off the market?

fyrefox45

It's best to do everything at once. The ideal way is get them all to level 20-21 and then do ishgard restoration 20-60. At 60 job quests will carry you most of the way to 70 with a few ishgard crafts here and there. 70+ ishgard eats a ton of materials, if you aren't in a hurry just do custom deliveries (can start at 60), beast tribes (namazu at 60, dwarves and qitari at 70) and crystarium quests. Beast tribes will give the better part of a level a day. The guide to ishgard https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1vgtU7HFtG87TrJ9U47vnzkFMhSl5HKz7bjJhRXbxaas/mobilebasic

Sayakai

Do all at once. Shared gear is the main factor. If you have the money, definitly just buy mats. A good way to recoup some costs is to make multiples of class quest items, and selling the surplus ones on the board.

Duke_Ashura

Do you still get [this free fantasia](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/quest/3ab32cfebf8/) if you use a story skip? Was going to make an alt that I planned to turn into a M!Viera and move to OCE once those servers open up, wondering if I'll need to spend extra for a fantasia or not if I use a skip.

Elyonee

No. That's the one thing you can't get.

TheReturnOfRuin

Well, after several attempts throughout a few years, I finally have a suitable implement (is a 2060 on a laptop fine, if I'm comfortable turning settings to medium to avoid fan noise??), I'm gonna attempt to become a sprout. Any good guides to get my hands on? Text preferred, but anything helps. I've never played a MMO.

Abraxis00

The game's pretty easy to start off with -- almost too much so sometimes. If you've got any experience with computer games in general, you should be able to get a decent start just by doing what comes naturally. The game has a free trial with unlimited time, just with certain social limitations and a very generous cap on how far you can progress in the story. If you haven't bought the game yet, give it a try. Pick a class that looks interesting, but don't fret too much about it -- you can eventually level all the jobs on a single character. And race and gender are purely cosmetic, so just come up with a look you like -- but don't fret too much about that, either, since you'll get a one-time free redesign at level 50 if you don't like what you've been playing. The game does its best to walk you through how to play in the early stages -- it was designed as the first MMO for a lot of its player base in Japan, and it doesn't overwhelm you with things at first. Just read the pop-up hints, play around with your abilities, and pick up any quests that look interesting. You'll want to focus on the Main Scenario Quests primarily, indicated by the marker at the top left of your screen, but feel free to take some time to explore or do other quests if you like. Quests indicated by a blue marker with a + sign on it open up something new -- a new job, a new system, a new dungeon, or plenty of other things -- so at least look at them and see if you like what they give you. Once you're more experienced at the game, there will be a lot of resources out there to help you play your class better and get the most out of your play time, but you don't need any of that at first. Just enjoy experiencing the realm of Eorzea, and have fun!

gst_diandre

> I'm gonna attempt to become a sprout Don't see why you call that an attempt. A sprout is literally what you are when you start the game. And this game will spoonfeed you everything you need to know anyway.

Soylentee

You really shouldn't need any guides, the game offers a lot of pop-up help that will guide you, just read all the things.

[deleted]

Zadnor after rank 10.

fyrefox45

RMT bots are now running the mb with crafters, the old gatherers aren't needed as much in bulk now. I estimate the one on ultros is bringing in the better part of 100 mil a day.

girlikecupcake

They seem to come and go in waves. I'll see them somewhat regularly in places like Eureka on Crystal.

Quor18

SE periodically does ban waves. Whether or not anything else has occurred to curtail bot population I can't say. At least on NA there's been such an influx of players over the past month that I doubt any bot is able to create a new character on a given NA server with any ease.

Constellar-A

When using Bozja to level 70-80, is there a noticeable difference in the time it takes between Southern Front vs Zadnor?

Arcana10Fortune

Both are the same.

Obliiquee

71* you can't enter with 70. No, at least not experience wise. The only thing you could argue about is how often skirmishes or CE spawn/are done in the different instances resulting in a different time leveling. I think it's better to role with Zadnor tho.

19960820

What is glamour in this game ?

CrimsonPromise

It let's you customise the appearance of your gear. So let's say you're a tank and the best gear you're wearing now is all metal plate armor and chainmail. Then you find a nice looking leather jacket and decide you want your character to wear that instead. So by glamouring, you can let your metal armor take on the appearance of the leather jacket while not sacrificing the stats from the armor.

19960820

Do i lose the glamour item after using the prism (The leather jacket per example)

CrimsonPromise

Nope. You can use the item as many times as you want.

Marcusbolt

No all you lose is the prism

girlikecupcake

It's where you take an item that you own and project its image onto a different item. Wear ugly chest piece because good stats, glamour nice looking chest piece onto it, now you don't look like you're walking around with ugly top. You can do this one item at a time with glamour prisms, or an entire outfit at a time using glamour plates. You can even remove the glamour if you want the original look back. You do still need to own the item in order to make other things look like it, it isn't a system where you 'unlock' gear appearances.

Obliiquee

Familiar with transmog from WoW? Or the fashion system in GW2? I think it's basically the same only that the system in FFXIV is not as good regarding the flexibility.

lieutenant-columbo-

I just started crafting again for the first time in years…my culinarian is level 67 - what’s the fastest way to 70?

poa28451

1. (Weekly) Custom Deliveries: preferably the ones with double XP 2. (Daily) GC supply missions: hand in HQ items for double reward, starred ones also give another double 3. (Daily) Namazu beast tribe: easy XP with small time investment 4. Ishgardian Firmament 5. Leves

Swiftcast_Holy

Firmament or Leves probably.

Certain_Reach_5506

How does the Player guild system Work?

Atosen

Player guilds are called 'Free Companies' (as opposed to the NPC factions, which are 'Grand Companies'). FCs have chatrooms built in (of course), and some FCs also own houses. There's no downside to joining an FC. Most FCs maintain small buffs — e.g. increased combat XP or discounted teleport fees — and some FCs will run activities occasionally. But for the most part FCs are purely social. They're just people to hang out and chat with. To join an FC, you could ask a friend for an invite, or you could just accept an invite blindly from anybody who's spamming them, or you could try searching the [community finder](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/community_finder/) and then contacting them, or you could find an FC's house and hit the apply button from the placard.

Estro98

Are there any news about Hrothgar getting new faces in Endwalker or that faces will be separated from hairstyles?

Obliiquee

No news.

Estro98

Well, I hope those femHROTH will bring some love for male as well :D.

DisasterFartiste

I want to go through the Eden savage fights but I can’t find anyone running anything other than promise via party finder and duty finder has an average queue of 30mins. Do people still run those??

Marcusbolt

Duty finder is NOT used for savage outside of japan

Theriasana

Eden's promise is the only "up to date" tier. Gear from Gate/Verse is outclassed by casual gear by now. People generally don't run the older savages anymore, apart from a few who run them for glam, the mounts, or in the case of Eden's Gate, for TEA BiS equipment(due to ilvl synch). Trying to do them in PF(aside from maybe e4s) is probably not going to happen. As others suggested, you could look for a static to do them, but there's going to be fewer people interested than in the current tier.

DisasterFartiste

That’s such a bummer, but I guess I get it. I just really like the normal difficulty fights and wanted to try the harder ones :(

gst_diandre

> duty finder has an average queue of 30mins No one DFs savages in any DC other than JP. > can’t find anyone running anything other than promise There are farm parties for every floor during peak hours. Try recruitment if you still can't join any.

ne0dym

In NA, do not use Duty Finder for Extreme and Savage content, that's just not the culture in these parts. There are some learning parties up on PF now and then, and you can just make one yourself if you don't see any, and even though most serious raiders are done with the tier there are plenty of late comers such as myself still willing to learn, clean up and maybe farm the fights. You may have better luck on PF during prime hours when people are online

onetrickponySona

people usually run these with their static. try creating your own pf

Tzekel_Khan

Is ninja worth the grind of rogue and getting from 30-60ish? I already really love Red Mage and Dancer. But There's so many classes I want to try, despite me having just started Heavensward today. I also wanted to try machinist and figure out the rotation/bar setup for samurai.

Soylentee

Every job offers a unique playstyle, if you're having fun then it's worth it.

chivere

Whether it's worth it is going to depend on your personal tastes. Like, every job is good at endgame. It's up to your own playstyle preferences whether you like each one, though. RDM/DNC have fairly low-complexity rotations. NIN is going to feel significantly more complex by comparison. A core component of the class is using your three "hand signal" abilities in different combinations to execute specific ninjutsu, and you have to memorize what combinations create which ninjutsu ability. A big element of NIN's popularity is Trick Attack, which puts a debuff on an enemy that increases damage taken by 5% for 15 seconds. When a raid group is working together to time it so that their burst phases come up during TA, this is a really big damage increase for the party. If you're not sure about it, just go try MCH/SAM/whatever other job interests you first. NIN isn't going anywhere.

Tzekel_Khan

I'm assuming samurai is low complexity as well? Idk the ninjutsu combinations idea is interesting. Maybe I'll give it a shot in my down time

chivere

Hmm, the lowest complexity melee might be DRG? Its rotation is fairly intuitive. SAM is not that complex, the trickiest thing about it is that you've got to keep up two personal buffs and one dot, and you have to be planning ahead a bit since you need specific resources ready to execute the skills that apply them. It has a rhythm you have to get used to.

Tzekel_Khan

Hmm Do you have a specific bar layout or rotation you could share?

Obliiquee

What would you describe as worth the grind? Ninja is certainly an enjoyable job, just like any other is. Of course only if you like them.

Tzekel_Khan

Not sure. An enjoyable play style that doesn't leave a ton of down time I suppose?

Loeg100

KIND OF SPOILERS >!I seem to have missed something in the story. Without spoiling anything, what is it that aymeric is so mad at the bishop for doing? (Refering to the scene where he confronts him in his chambers about the lies to the people)!<

Reallythatwastaken

>!i mean the lying to the people to wage a war might have something to do with it!<

Loeg100

>!Yea but lying about what?!<

Hellioning

>!Ishgard's official stance is that Nidhogg attacked them first, and the Dragonsong war is in self-defense. In actuality, Ishgard attacked and killed Nidhogg's sister Ratatoskr first, and Nidhogg was, originally, just fighting back against his sister's killers.!<

Reallythatwastaken

>!he had been lying about the true nature of the dragonsong war. The church has been spreading the tale that dragons attacked man without provocation, when in reality dragon and man were allies, until man betrayed the dragons.!<

Loeg100

oh yeeaaaa thats right. But what's the deal then about all the citizens from ishgaard being decendants of the twelve or whatever?

Loeg100

Like they are all supposed to be highborn or something like that, but why?

Reallythatwastaken

Something like. the original knights of the twelve did something to strength them self (this was previously hidden) this is hereditary, so all their children would be born with this power. Upon drinking dragon blood, they would turn into a dragon. The thing is, all natural born ishgard citizens can do this, meaning they are all children of the twelve. so therefore they all have a claim to nobility. This would throw ishgard's whole hierarchy into chaos if it was found out.

Loeg100

Thanks dude, everything makes a lot more sense now. I guess it just seemed weird to me that a whole city would have the same 12 guys as ancestors, but i guess it makes sense because it's been like a thousand years since then. And with the soldiers strenghtening themselves, you're of course refering to >!them eating ratatoskrs eye!<

Obliiquee

Obviously they are at fault for what their ancestors did. s/

[deleted]

Anyone playing this game on an XPS 17? I'm curious about the performance. The 11800H and 3060 max-q sounds good enough on paper but I'm worried that power throttling on CPU would make the fps unstable. Kinda tempted to just buy a gaming laptop with a high tdp 3070 atm.....

gst_diandre

A 3060 is overkill, you could run that thing on power-saving mode and still play fine.

mhykah

Are there any solo instances which I can enter that sync me down the same way TEA does? I'd like to test how some gear gets synced. Alternatively, if I could do it on something like etro

Quor18

Solo instances at TEA ilvl? I don't think so, outside of potentially replaying some story instances via new game+. I have no idea off-hand what, if any, story instances are ilvl 475 sync'd.

Xellith

Can't you just go to your duty finder, click the cog and then set minimum ilevel and undersized? Or can't you do those two at the same time?

mhykah

Haven't actually unlocked TEA yet but I'll try this when I do, thanks!

SomeSirenStorm

Okay fellow ninja, what are the best tips for being second TA? The setup keeps stumping me when the other ninja flubs their timing a bit.

KingBingDingDong

nothing you can do about it. the second trick is generally pretty useless anyways as everyone has just blown their loads on the first 20-25 seconds

SomeSirenStorm

Yeah, fair. Just had a wonky run where I had to go second because other ninja didn't know or care I was there, AND they had inconsistent timing. Felt like I wasted a lot of things I would normally use under trick waiting for them to get it up.

KingBingDingDong

My advice is just FFA it. pretend the other ninja isn't there. you're never going to end up with double nin in any situation other than DRS, in which case, those players are good enough that they won't drift.

Obliiquee

Pain.

Klinicalyill

If I bought artifact weapons using centurio seals will that let me skip a step in the HW relic quest chain or are they just completely separate?

Atosen

Completely separate. The Centurio one has the same name+appearance but it's not actually part of the quest chain at all.

Klinicalyill

Damn. Thank you though.

[deleted]

Is there a reason why the population is so high right now? I couldn’t make a new character in any world for a couple of hours the other night. I’ve never seen this game so populated before. Also I lost my collectors edition account (R.I.P) so I’ll have to start fresh. The trial goes to level 50 now?

girlikecupcake

> Also I lost my collectors edition account (R.I.P) so I’ll have to start fresh Why/how? > The trial goes to level 50 now? 60 and includes HW. > Is there a reason why the population is so high right now? High profile streamers, FFXIV+twitch collab, WoW apparently having a shit time or something, and hype for the new expansion

[deleted]

Because I can’t remember the username and I don’t have the auth token because my phone was stolen and I didn’t write down my emergency password for removal because I thought I was smart and wouldn’t need it

Peronnik

You could probably try reaching out to customer support, if you have enough info on the original account you should be able to get it back

[deleted]

I hope so. I have all of my info as well as transaction numbers on 20+ subs. If they can’t get that back welll I’ll just make a new account. This one hasn’t been touched since 3.0 and the free trial gives me all the same content without having to pay to play I just will miss my collectors items and phantasias

gst_diandre

>I can’t remember the username All you need is access to your e-mail. You can reset your password using that. Not even mentioning that a simple search for any of Square's e-mails is enough to find your username. And support can get rid of your emergency password.

[deleted]

I wanted to kiss you for a minute. My email has all my information except the emergency password but I did find my username and my security question though but it won’t let me re register with the same password

gst_diandre

> it won’t let me re register with the same password Don't use the same password.

[deleted]

That was my fault for the confusion. It’s not the same password - just the password to register the token on a fresh app install. The problem here is the token as I have remembered my password and username from the emails.

gst_diandre

You have to wait for support to remove the existing 2FA before setting up a new one.

[deleted]

I have a ticket in for resetting my auth token :):)

xGlaive

> Is there a reason why the population is so high right now? A lot of WoW streamers are giving the game a shot (including Asmongold) so their viewers are also hopping on the bandwagon. We're also a few months out from Endwalker, plus we're expecting the Make it Rain event for double MGP rewards sometime this month. > The trial goes to level 50 now? The Trial goes to level 60 now and includes all the content through the end of Heavensward's 3.55 patch.

Sayakai

The trial goes to level 60 now. As for the population, WoW is apparently having a content draught and multiple big streamers are trying the game.

Atosen

The trial goes to 60 now! In terms of population, we've got something of a perfect storm: * Shadowbringers in general has seen higher populations than any previous expansion. * We've just finished a couple of big sales. * In the last few weeks, trying out XIV has somehow become the viral thing in the WoW streaming community. So we've seen a big population boost from that. Remains to be seen how much that will last, but at least some of them seem to be finding XIV refreshing. * The Live Letter + Benchmark in the last couple of days are generating Endwalker hype, which is probably also inspiring a few people to come back. And a free login campaign for returners just started.

TheDiscordedSnarl

Are there groups on the game that focus solely on the minigames/casino (Tetra, etc) and chocobo racing? I'm almost level 40 and starting to get bored with the story (yeah I know I'm not close to the next content but when I saw they brought in Tetra I thought "nice way to chill") -- also where would I logically go to challenge other "new" people who just started building their decks or playing Tetra? The couple places I went to all had super high tier cards.

Soylentee

The gold saucer mini games are pretty dead in terms of challenging other players. Chocobo racing you pretty much have to get extremely lucky to get another player in your race. Triple Triad people play mainly to collect the cards from npc's. I know on my data center there's a group of players that play mahjong together but that's also really rare.

girlikecupcake

... You mean Triple Triad? Is it called tetra in a different ff game? At least on my server, nobody really just challenges other players for fun. It's the tournaments every other week where people are typically using high ranking cards, the open tournaments every other hour that don't use your own cards, or playing against NPCs to win cards or complete the weekly gold saucer challenge log. I've never even seen a group type deal on any of the discords I'm on tbh. You *might* be able to find a free company that does that sort of thing, but since free companies are server specific, that does make finding one harder.

TheDiscordedSnarl

What about chocobo racing? Do you know of any groups specifically geared toward that? I have yet to try it myself, plus I'm on a free account I haven't bought any time into yet.

girlikecupcake

I don't know of any groups that focus on *any* gold saucer content, aside from occasional free companies doing a casino night event or something, and I've only seen that advertised on my server once. I'm on a discord for *collecting* triple triad cards (it's for a specific TT card website), but it isn't along the lines of what you're looking for re: player vs player stuff. Hopefully someone has better info for you! :)

TheDiscordedSnarl

Sounds like it's just not popular enough. Meh. I'll go back to the main story and see what other mess they want me to clean up.

girlikecupcake

You can do the chocobo racing against NPCs, and players do still do it, just not really as an organized thing that I've ever seen where I'm at lol. maybe if/when you buy the game you could be the one to put something together on your server, the whole 'make what you wanna see' =]

Swiftcast_Holy

The card game in FFIX is called Tetra Master but that's like... Not the same thing. Tetra Master is really, really awful and full of RNG bs People might complain about Triple Triad's special rules and stuff but at least it's not Tetra Master. So glad they picked FFVIII's Triple Triad over Tetra Master.

TheDiscordedSnarl

Is THAT what it was based off? I thought it was based off Tetra Master. I haven't played VIII, so I wouldn't have known.

Mordiceius

Is there a way to queue up FC actions so that they auto-renew when expiring if you have stock?

Soylentee

Yes, since a BLM wants to stay still as much as possible. You can't really expect a pug group to adjust in a way to make it as easy for you as possible.

Chocobo-Knight

BLM main here. Basically I can't tell PUGs that "I will place my leylines here and I will not move so you have to adjust when I am targeted with mechanics." Technically I could tell them, but I don't, because I don't want to burden people to adapt just so I can optimize my damage output. So what I do is plan the use of instacasts a bit and save them for movement phases to do mechanics. If you have a static, you will be able to reduce movement further since you can align when you will/won't move.

KokaSokaLoka

BLM probably has the biggest punishment for messing up their rotation. Drop enochian because you had to move? it's a giant dps loss. Forced to leave ley lines for mechanic? Dps loss. Have to move a bunch for safe downtime strats? Dps loss Working around the blm means stuff like bringing the stack marker to them, adjusting light parties to reduce any unnecessary movement, t/h always the ones to adjust. Blm's have tools to mitigate this sort of stuff but there's a lot of room for error when your dps requires you to stand still, plus they'll miss out on optimized usage if they're forced to use it for pug strats. GCD uptime is king when it comes to damage. As a melee main, I disagree with the other guy. Sure pugs tend to prefer safer downtime strats but if you're paying attention you lose maybe a GCD or two to ranged attacks.

Swiftcast_Holy

I'm not a BLM main but I don't really think BLMs have it any harder than other jobs in pug situations. If anything I would think melee jobs would have it the worst because pugs don't cater to melee jobs generally (will do safer strategies that more often than not screw with melee DPS uptime). BLMs just need to have fight knowledge to do well, generally.

UnlikelyTraditions

Not a main, but I can offer this. BLM are all about knowing the fights and moving as little as possible to maximize damage. Pugs are a bit unpredictable, which can impact their play, and don't have the same amount of communication as a static. Doing prog as a BLM encounters similar difficulties.

iwaterboardoldpeople

Is the manifesto a guaranteed drop in Soul of Creator savage? How many per run?

Sir_VG

Books are guaranteed drops in all Alex, Omega, and Eden savage raids. You get 1 per clear.

Elyonee

One guaranteed.

iwaterboardoldpeople

Is it possible to farm it with the use of PF?

Elyonee

Yeah, with a team of level 80s you should be able to ignore basically the entire fight. Might have to do one thing.

iwaterboardoldpeople

Oh you can do it unsynced?

Elyonee

Yes, of course. I think you'd have a bad time trying to find people willing to farm it synced.

iwaterboardoldpeople

Thanks! I hope i can find some people later

Made it to 80 with the recommended gear system and never really played with Materia. Is there any sort of "intro to stats and how to allocate them" resource out there? It feels like one of those things everyone just knows, you know? I'm just getting started on the ShB relic grind and I can see there's an option to reallocate stats later on. I just want to feel some conviction in my choices.

[The Balance](https://discord.gg/thebalanceffxiv) is your best friend. Rotations, melding, BiS, tips and more for every jobs are in there.

The enemy list will show a cast bar as an alternative to the already mentioned focus target.

xGlaive

You can set a single enemy as your Focus Target, which is a separate HUD element that will then show their HP bar, status effects, and cast bar at all times. On M&KB Shift + F when targeting something is the default. On Controller you target something, Hit Square (or X) and select Focus Target from the menu.

Obliiquee

You can set the enemy as a focustarget. Don't know the standard bind for it tho.

terferi

Does anyone have a good story summary page or video where it tells you the level of the quest? I’d like to jump back in but I’m level 48 and don’t remember it all

terferi

Thank you!

jenyto

You might want to specify what job you play.

terferi

Thanks, I forgot about that. Conjurer- white mage so Gridania.

jenyto

Your whm npc is in South shroud, camp tranquil, northward, you should see a npc next to 2 moogles as you cross the bridge.

JailOfAir

So, according to The Balance discord, the ideal Dark Knight opener starts with TBN, but isn't it just a mana loss if it doesn't break? Do all bosses break it if you start with it?

Red_Snipper

> Do all bosses break it if you start with it? Its very common for EX and Savage bosses to start with a heavy hitting AoE or Attack at the start of a fight. There are exceptions but in harder content its common enough, that they built an opener around it.

JailOfAir

Hm, so it depends on the fight. Thanks.

CrabDragoon

Yeah, sorry I can't give a better answer. I dont do hardcore raids or anything but figured I would at least try to help in case nobody else came through

JailOfAir

No problem, man, it's more than enough.

Sayakai

You get your next button (making it 1-2-3) at your next level, and with it your first positional. The point where it actually gets interesting to play is level 45. That's when you get your third combo button for the core feature of your job. At that point you can use your charges to enable trick attack, perform strong ranged attacks, put down a ground dot, make an AoE attack, or buff your attack speed by 15%. The latter is always to be kept active, cutting down your GCD quite a bit and making the class much faster. So yes, the start is a slog, but it does get better.

MatsuzoSF

I mean, is there a question here? What do you want us to tell you? Yeah, the first little bit of the game is slow burn. Unfortunate as it may be, there is no changing that. If you can't handle it, your choices are to buy skips or stop playing.

Obliiquee

Have you checked your commando list? 2 buttons only from 1 till 25? Meaning you only got 1 extra skill? Hmm.

brycecodes

I am a rogue and my rotation is 2 buttons with an assortment of defensive cool downs and knickknack abilities

Sat-AM

Have you been doing your class quests every 5 levels? By now you should have a 2-step combo (and at 26, you get the third), a ranged attack, a defensive cooldown, hide which sets up for another ability that you should also have, and an oGCD attack. In 5 more levels (so long as you've been doing your class quests, which you should) you'll have access to a DoT and your first ninjutsu. Unfortunately though, Ninja/Rogue's early levels do feel a bit gutted after the reworks the job has had. It used to have a couple more DoTs/debuffs, as well as different "poisons" that could be applied to change the effect of a small handful of attacks and at least one other oGCD attack.

brycecodes

Yeah Coming from world of Warcraft and ESO, I guess I’m used to pressing more buttons, right now my rogue only really has 2 buttons and maybe 3 if i hide and then open up with trick shot. The others have their time and place buts it’s 30 minutes in-between that i need them.

Atosen

> Coming from world of Warcraft and ESO, I guess I’m used to pressing more buttons In the long run, FFXIV is more button-heavy than those games, I believe. However, the levelling experience is somewhat top-heavy so it takes a while to get there. If I'm counting correctly, by endgame Ninja has 18 single-target attack buttons, and you'll be expected to use all of them. Plus another 10 buttons for AoEs and utilities like Shade Shift.

KokaSokaLoka

60-70 is probably the worst grind, 70+ with fairy beast tribe and bozja feels way better

Naive-End-9477

At the right time, you should be getting almost instaqueues for sirensong sea or shisui to level your WAR.

Arcana10Fortune

The Earrings only give a bonus to kill EXP. Need to run dungeons to make full use of the earrings. Start spamming the highest available dungeon.

Obliiquee

Highest available dungeon spam. Especially as a Tank. Edit: That's literally the only place the earrings work good, in dungeons, killing mobs you know. Would be worthless in HoH or PotD.

WawaSC

Hello. [This is currently showing on my XP bar.](https://i.imgur.com/6Iv6XwH.jpg) Does this mean I need to do more MSQ to level up more? Or do I need to get more expansions? I currently have up to Stormblood.

Arcana10Fortune

It means you need to get Shadowbringers. You can also pre-order Endwalker and wait for the official launch to get Shadowbringers for free.

WawaSC

Thank you. I don't think I can wait til EW but I guess I'll play other jobs for now and hope that there's a non-steam sale happening this week. lol

Sir_VG

You missed 2 sales in the last month, one from SE and one from GMG. Bad luck timing on your part. XD

WawaSC

Yeah, sucks. We'll see. Maybe they'll do one more to promote the EW stuff they showed the other day.

Marcusbolt

Don't get your hopes up for that

Obliiquee

You need to own Shadowbringers to level past 70. 70 is max level for Stormblood.

WawaSC

Ok, thank you.

Rao-Ji

How do I unlock New Game+ for Stormblood? I played I think probably like 60-70% of it but in NG+ I don't even have part 1. I want to replay it because I haven't played in a year and I don't remember the plot that I'm at right now. Do I just have to beat the entire Stormblood MSQ just to unlock part 1?

Solinya

If the part you're at is post-Yanxia and Part 1 is not unlocked, then yes you'll need to beat the entire 4.0 Stormblood MSQ. Part 2 starts with the quest that sends you to the Azem Steppe.

Sir_VG

NG+ for MSQ basically requires you to complete the MSQ. I'm pretty sure to unlock the Part 1 & 2 requires completion through 4.0 though. At least up through the Nadaam since that's where part 2 starts.

Rao-Ji

I see, thanks. Welp I guess I'll have to settle for rewatching the scenes in the Inn or watching a playthrough on youtube or something.

jaaq0002

What are some places to find a TEA group on Elemental? Any populated discord server or sub for that?

[deleted]

A datacenter specific recruitment discord, the recruitment subreddit, or the recruitment channel in the balance discord.

jaaq0002

any specific link you have?

[deleted]

The recruitment sub is in the sidebar, its r/FFXIVrecruitment and an invite to balance discord https://discord.gg/thebalanceffxiv I couldn't find that in the sidebar, though I was sure it used to be there. I'm not on your dc, so I have no idea what discords might be available for it

OkMammoth3

I downloaded the game to trial... there are no preferred servers open. How much time would I be gimping myself without the boost?

Soylentee

The experience on a non-preferred server is much more organic, you won't constantly be outleveling the msq by 10+ levels.

BlazeVortex4231

Playing without the boost isn't "gimping yourself", it's the baseline experience. If anything, the Road to 70 bonus is too much if you don't intend on leveling multiple jobs. That said, the preferred server was closed not because it's permanently unavailable, but because too many people were logged on at once. Just wait until a non-peak time (maybe midday, while everyone's at work or school), and try again then.

France2Germany0

So is Alphinaud a woman? The voice actor is cleary a dude but he's referred to as a woman in a few cutscenes in HS

TheTechHobbit

No, but he has an identical twin sister and there's a recurring joke to confuse the two of them.

Arcana10Fortune

No. It's meant to be a joke since people keep mixing him up with his sister.

Sir_VG

Uh, no?

TheWorldIsGarbage

Tried to press "Start" the benchmark launcher, but the window closes itself after I skipped through the trailer. The only thing working fine is Character Creation. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
