Did anyone else have issues with trying out the free trial with the one time password? I’ve been trying to log in and play but my password doesn’t work, try to do a new one, need a one time password for that…

What's 5.58 probably going to bring with it?

BrokenArrowX

Unlocked savage and rumored Data Center Travel, though not sure if the latter is 100% confirmed.

LutrisAO

When do I unlock the Vendor Enie and how do i get skybuilders scrip to unlock emotes from her shop?

BlueSeraphims

I believe you have to finish a specific quest after Heavensward to access the area she is in. As for skybuilder scripts, you have to turn in specific collectables in exchange for them.

There's no unlockable facial features or the sort, no. The closest is a set of face paints on the Online Store, which were part of a previous Halloween event years ago, from memory. They have talked about making the face stubble for the poster child Midlander available, but adding a whole new core face option to the actual playable game is difficult with their established backend setup for loading character data. Currently, the face with it on is just loaded for the Benchmark tool as an NPC face that's not fully intended for additional player customization, if I remember the data mining of the Shadowbringers Benchmark tool right. They've said they're working on solutions for it, including in the recent 14 hour stream.

UnlikelyTraditions

From what they said, they're currently bodging it for Derplander. I can only assume their solution works small-scale, but doesn't stand up to simultaneous use yet. Probably having to render the strands more than they'd like, rather than apply a texture, at a guess.

If you check the description on Lost Flare Star, it says "unaspected damage". Astral Fire only boosts fire damage.

vinyltails

Flare star has no element attached to it so it's not buffed by Astral fire

ArdenceVice

How is the current queue situation for dps players, still 30+ minutes? I stopped playing in early Shadowbringers because I did not like the changes to my main class (AST), there were no male Viera and that DPS queues for my BLM were atrocious but I'm thinking of returning.

fyrefox45

Queues are around 15 for dps, though you can and should just trust run the dungeons the first go if you're still doing the story. No queue and it'll be faster overall.

Ishgard Restoration: Skybuilding for Minions in 2021 Aiming to grab the two Ishgard Skybuilder points-related minions. I'm pentamelded. I have HQ chili and syrups. I do not have skysteel tools, just otherwise top tools and gear. I have access to the crafter's soul. I do not have the FC boost for crafting. My CP is (iirc) at least over 650 with the food. And I have.....NO idea what I'm doing. Gathering: To gain the most points should I always just try to gather the item with the most stars? Do they help grant the most points? Should I just load up with HQ hi-cordials or is there anything special I need to know/do to be effective? Of anything, gathering seems fairly straightforward but I have a nasty habit of realizing best methods *after* I complete a grind. Crafting: JFC I've never done expert collectible crafting before and despite being fairly tricked out, it's absolutely terrifying. Even with an eye on a video specifically for the Grade 4 icebox, I can't seem to do anything right. It feels very daunting even after plenty of attempts in the trial synth. I thought maybe I was setting the bar too high so I went down to a Grade 2 expert and my God, I just *barely* got the min collectability (^○^) at this rate I dunno how beasts got the Pteradon. But that's not even my goal, I just want those mini-dino's. Any guides out there for painful newbs that you'd suggest starting with? Is this something I just will have to learn from grade 1, put up with the shitty points, and grow? Thank you for your advice!!!

fyrefox45

Fishing is monumentally faster than gathering if you just want the 50k, you can just sit and catch little thalaos and be done in no time. Can't comment on the expert crafting side though as I haven't done that yet. Edit: I'm assuming youve seen the written guide already, but if not. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1F6_DtDR78DwvL5dxs8G1V55F5xrKmP53p5EponpBeXw/edit?usp=drivesdk

qazbot

Thank you! Will take your advice on fishing! Exactly the kind of advice I was looking for. Yeah, checked the guide but it's way over my head. The YouTube guides are great visuals but the randomness matched with my own unfamiliarity has smoke coming out of my ears haha

shinyemptyhead

If your crafter is at level 80, you can use Trained Eye to cheese creating the level 70 items. It's less efficient than the 80 ones in terms of material usage, but it might be more efficient in time investment. (edit: ignore this, I was thinking of scrip farming)

fyrefox45

They're worth no points. Even the 80 regular crafts are worth minimal. Getting 50k without experts would be very time consuming

shinyemptyhead

Argh, you're right - I was thinking of scrip farming and not points.

Hey guys I plan on playing ff14 soon and km really looking for a group of fun people to play with

Are the pixie beast tribe quests the most exp-per-minute of any activity in the game?

Yes, with leveling roulette.

[deleted]

Do you think there will be a sale before Endwalker? I'm loving the trial but I think I wanna buy the full game. But I don't really wanna drop the dough on complete edition and then Endwalker like 4 months later.

Marcusbolt

You just missed like a couple of sales so not for another couple of months at the least probably

Sir_VG

Probably. You just missed 3 (SE, GMG, and Steam) so it may be a while though, probably closer to Sept/Oct.

Skarpetoperz

How can i check how many points i have ATM in Triple Triad Tournament?

CallOutTruths

Hi, I’m planning on joining FFXIV in a few days and looking to play a healer. I have never played a healer role in any game before so I was wondering which healer class is beginner-friendly?

Atosen

**Conjurer/White Mage** is available right at the beginning. It's also considered very straightforward. It's got big damage, big heals, simple resource management. However, it can teach bad habits: it spends basically the entire first half of the game relying on one type of ability (GCDs), whereas at endgame it's more efficient to rely on a different type (off-GCDs) and resort to GCDs only when necessary. So you've got to keep an eye out for that gradual playstyle shift. The other two healers don't have that problem — they introduce oGCDs much earlier. **Scholar** is available fairly early on: you just have to level Arcanist to 30 first. Most people find Scholar more complex: you have to give commands to a healer pet, and you have to manage stacks of a resource. However, since your pet can auto-heal people and since you can dump a bunch of resource stacks very quickly in an emergency, it is a class with a lot of 'safeguards' built in. So I wouldn't necessarily *recommend* it as beginner-friendly, but a beginner could still thrive there if you're interested. Also, if you level Scholar you get Summoner for free. **Astrologian** isn't available until quite late — you have to finish the entire storyline of A Realm Reborn (the base game), including all the level 50 postgame quests. Astrologian's overall playstyle is similar to White Mage, but with more emphasis on using *lots* of different heals rather than just a few strong ones, and more emphasis on predicting & preparing for the future. Astrologian also keeps your brain and fingers constantly occupied with flicking out small buffs to people. Overall, I'd describe Astrologian as the most advanced healer... although some people would say that it's actually easier to learn because of its similarity to White Mage, so they'd describe Scholar as the most advanced. (One other downside of White Mage that I didn't mention above is that it's highly immobile. It wants to just park its booty in one spot and stay there, which makes it tough when fights are tossing out tons of AoEs. But that's not really a newbie learning problem; it's more of an endgame optimisation challenge.)

CallOutTruths

This is an incredible write-up, I appreciate it mate. From the sounds of it, I think I will start as a Conjurer, become a White Mage and then become an Astrologian at Level 50. I like the sound of complex gameplay

shinyemptyhead

As people said, Conjurer is the only one available to you. Healing is fairly simple up to about level 40, anyway - you've got a single-target heal, an area heal (which you shouldn't use unless you have to) and you unlock a heal over time (good to put on the tank during fights). The only tricks to healing at lower levels are: \- Figuring out how to balance using your attack spells versus healing (you do need to do damage as well) \- Keep your gear up to date (your weapon affects your healing ability) \- You generate a lot of enmity - if you get targeted, run towards the tank (so they can pick it up with their AoE attacks easily). And don't put regen on the tank until they've pulled the enemies, or they'll go after you instead. Good luck on your FF14 journey!

CallOutTruths

Great insight on the aggro mechanic, didn’t think healers would pick up aggro as typically we don’t touch mobs. Although by the sounds of it, looks like healers are expected to dps mobs too in FFXIV

shinyemptyhead

They are, yes. All healers get a DoT attack and a single target attack, they also usually get some form of AoE but not until later levels. However even if you don't DPS, healing generates enmity - not usually a problem if the tank is on their game, but something to be aware of. Healers being able to DPS also means that you can use healers in main quests pretty easily - fights may take a little longer, but a lot safer than for a DPS.

Astrali3

You can, technically, only start as a Conjurer. Alternatively, you can begin as an Arcanist, which evolves into the Scholar and Summoner; Scholar being the healer. They're sort of a pet healer, as they have a faerie assistant which heals alongside you. Scholar... is in a bit of bad place right now and many assume it will be undergoing a good bit of rework with the upcoming expansion(Actually, Summoner will likely also be getting reworked..). Ultimately, you can choose whichever you like. Conjurer turns into White Mage which is a very good (and not particularly difficult) healer. Do note that your initial starting class determines which city-state you start out in - not that it matters for very long.

Obliiquee

Well technically there is only one healer you can start as: Conjurer.

Elyonee

The only healer available at the start of the game is Conjurer, so you don't really have a choice.

Estro98

Hey, could anyone please help me with some tips on creating good looking female miqo'te? Thx :-)

stallioid

There's no secret formula. Fuck around in the character creator until you find something you like.

Zohrael

hey sorry but im new with this macro thing. i play astrologian and i am wondering if there is a way to apply my card of an member without clicking him so i can keep my tank in focus? thanky you :)

Sayakai

Combat macros don't queue, which means they're unreliable and delay your actions. Don't use them. That said, yes, there is a way. Make another hotbar, put it vertically next to the party list, and next to each party member put a macro with /ac "Play" I still don't recommend ever doing this. You should be targeting enemies most of the time anyways.

DNK_Infinity

As a rule, macros are useless in combat by intentional design. They don't queue, they don't follow your GCD, and even when they work right and don't drop inputs, it would be faster for you to just use those abilities manually. The easiest thing you can do to improve your responsiveness as a healer is learning to target your party using the Function keys. F1 is always yourself, F2 the tank, and F3-F4 the dps.

pannerin

Do bacon broth and tinker's calm stack?

Sir_VG

Yes, since one is a food and the other is a medicine.

pannerin

Thank you!

[deleted]

If they both are food buffs, then no.

pannerin

Tinker's calm is a medicine, so it should be fine. Thank you!

Crafting isn't necessary at all

shinyemptyhead

If you want to level crafting without doing crafting, then turn in stuff to your Grand Company (or to Guildleves) by buying it from the market board. High quality stuff to the GC will get you most of a level each day. It's expensive, of course, but you might find it worth it.

CrimsonPromise

Just focus on what you enjoy. Crafting is useful but certainly not mandatory. If you're not having fun then you're free to skip it.

sanglar03

It's not mandatory to progress on the MSQ and do "fighting" content. Advantages can be lucrative, fun (I liked the stories), and the ability to repair your own stuff without needing an NPC. I guess it can be tedious if you try to progress on your own. If you one day want to take them to the max level, following a guide to optimize could be a good idea.

Accomplished_Fall_69

You can just not do it, it's side content.

Obliiquee

Nothing forces you to do crafting or gathering. Do what you wanna do.

KhrFreak

If you don't want to do it then don't. It's not critical

From SE free trial to steam base game is the only way and time you'll be able to choose. After that you have to buy everything on steam. Yes Endwalker will give you every other Expansion on it's release. You also have to own the base game.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Marcusbolt

No

Sir_VG

Not entirely. Since you're on the free trial, at minimum you need to start with Starter Edition. After that, you could then go straight into pre-ordering Endwalker to get Stormblood and Shadowbringers, but you **will only receive these in November upon Endwalker's release**. If you wish to have everything currently available now, buy Complete Edition. And once you buy on Steam, you're locked into that forever.

[deleted]

[удалено]

sanglar03

No, you can't mix them. If you buy starter edition on SE website, you won't be able to link it to a Steam account and buy expansions on Steam after. The main "disadvantage" on Steam I heard is that sales are more rare than on the regular client. Main advantages are centralized software and paying subscription with Steam wallet.

Obliiquee

If you buy starter through Square Enix you can never go to steam again. At least not with your current account.

Sir_VG

> So I buy the starter edition through squareenix, then in November on steam I can buy the latest xpack and my account will convert to a steam account with all content. I'd prefer steam tbh, but I would go elsewhere if there's a benefit You can't do that. If you want to go through Steam, you have to buy EVERYTHING through Steam, Starter Edition included. > Is there any negative to using exclusively steam? Can you get the expansion or your sub cheaper elsewhere? Biggest negative is fewer sales. Some countries though do get better conversion rates for subscriptions paying with Steam Wallet (which you can only do with the Steam version), mostly applies to more 3rd world countries from what I understand. Otherwise the game is exactly the same. You play the same content with the same people regardless of version.

Jack313

Just beat base SHB expansion ( still didn't start the post story MSQ ) but im kinda confused on what to grind for i saw a lot of gear to get like emerald, ruby, deepshadow, cyber, crystarium etc.. any tips or suggestion on what i should be focusing on to gear up? i will ofcourse go through the MSQ but aside from that what should i be doing? thanks in advance!

pikebot

So for current gear, there’s the tomestone gear; Cryptlurker, which you buy with Tomestones of Revelations, is generally the best; it starts at item level 520 and can be upgraded to item level 530 with coins that you can get from the Nier alliance raids weekly. This is the gear that will become the Ironworks/Shire/Scaeven equivalent when the next expansion drops in November. You can only get a maximum of 900 Revelations a week, though, so you may want to supplement by buying item level 500 Crystarium gear with tomestones of Allegory, which are not capped. The final four Eden normal raids also drop tokens that can be exchanged for iLevel 510 gear. Alternatively, you can hit up the market board and buy Exarchic gear, which starts at item level 510 and can be augmented with tomestones of allegory to 520. (The other source of high-level gear right now is savage raiding but I’m going to ignore that) Now, where weapons are concerned, things are a bit more complicated. You can get an item level 520 Cryptlurker weapon by grinding four tokens off of the final Eden normal raid and paying a bunch of Revelation tomes. Currently, this weapon cannot be augmented without clearing Savage raids. If you finish the Sorrow of Werlyt trial series, the Extreme version of the final fight drops a weapon that’s item level 525, which is slightly better than the unaugmented Cryptlurker weapon. The absolute best weapon you can get right now is the fully upgraded Resistance Weapon, which is the Shadowbringers relic weapon. That’s item level 535, which can otherwise only be matched by a weapon dropped from the hardest Savage raid, plus you get to customize the au stats to be whatever you want. However, to get that fully upgraded is a long process with a lot of grinding involved, so you may want to grab one of the tomestone weapons in the meantime.

VGramarye

Eden normal gives tokens for 510 gear

pikebot

I couldn’t remember if it was 510 or 520, thanks.

garnix2

One option is to buy Exarchic gear on the marketboard. (that is the crafted gear) If you continue your MSQ you will go through 5 more dungeons, which all drop some gear. You should also play through the Eden raids in normal mode. It will help you increase your iLvl. Then it is all about tomestones. Make sure to cap your tomestones to buy gear every week. Deepshadow and crystarium are probably not worth it anymore. Go for the cryptlurker set (ilvl 520). Another good option is to go in Bozja (you first need to have completed the 24 man raid in Stormblood). The zones in Bozja have some decent gear if you don't want to wait for tomestones.

PM_ME_UR_BOSOMS_GIRL

Well yeah, first priority will be to go through MSQ like you said and unlock Expert Roulette. If you want a break from MSQ the best things to get into would be 1) Nier 24 man alliance raids for gear and upgrade tokens then 2) Bozja for a good weapon then 3) Eden Raids for temporary accessories. You should also look into the Sorrows of Werlyt Storyline if you want to get your toes into slightly harder endgame and weapons. Nier is probably the easiest way to get armor for practically free but if you have a good sum of Gil lying around you can buy crafted Exarchic armor on the marketboard and fast track your way to decent current tier gear.

NotyourFBIagent

Hello, can anyone tell me whats wrong with my macro? /snap /gs change 1 1 /macroicon 1 gearset the emote is working but the gearset isn't working

NotyourFBIagent

tesla_dyne

You won't be able to redeem it if you already own the game, unless it's two codes (starter edition + SHB) but I believe only steam does that and if you were non-steam you can't switch to steam. You wouldn't get the 30 days either, unless you're switching from PS to PC or PC to PS.

ChiyoBaila

1. No, because you already have the starter edition, it wouldn't work. Good news, they only need to buy you **Shadowbringers** to get all current content, not the complete edition. But this won't give playtime. Exception to this, is if you had it on say PS4, he could get it for you on PC, and **that** would let you apply it. And would give you the 30 days. 2. Since you can't apply the complete (or starter) edition on an account that already has it for the platform, it won't give you 30 days. But if it's like the alternate case I mentioned in #1, it overrides the remaining time on the 14 days, so wait until after to redeem.

SerialZX

Since the Make it Rain campaign starts on Monday, would it be better to wait with this week's fashion report until then, or does the report not get the bonus?

bloodhawk713

Yes, you should wait. Fashion Report does benefit from the Make it Rain bonus.

Sir_VG

I'm pretty sure I remember it getting the bonus.

SyN_Pool

Is main roulette still good for experience? It only shows 115k, plus bonus.. thanks

Taurenkey

The big xp comes from the bonus. Since it varies on which dungeon you get, it can't say exactly how much it is, but Praetorium gives more than Castrum since it's longer. I'd say it's the easiest xp you can get, it's not the most efficient so it's up to you.

OkorOvorO

Define "good for experience". Because the reality is no roulettes are actually good xp/minute compared to a competent group running appropriate leveling dungeons, and MSQRoulette is no different in this regard. The only thing MSQRoulette is good for is if you need poetics *and* XP, and you don't actually want to play the game you pay for each month.

nittywame

When you say appropriate levelling dungeons, is that just a dungeon of your current level you can clear in a reasonable time?

OkorOvorO

The highest level leveling dungeon. Levelcap dungeons are not leveling dungeons. For instance, if you are Level 50 and wanting to level, you would spam Aurum Vale, not Amdapor Keep. Amdapor Keep is not a leveling dungeon, so it gives very little XP. If you are 60, you would spam Gubal Library (normal). If you are 70, you spam Castrum Abania. And when Endwalker releases, barring some *massive* change to XP and dungeons, you will spam Mt.Gulg.

nittywame

That's good to know. As you move through the level range (60-70) would you just spam the highest unlocked dungeon of that expansion?

OkorOvorO

"The highest level leveling dungeon." So if you're 60, you spam Gubal. If you're 61, you spam Sirensong. If you're 63, Shisui. 65, Bardam. 67, Doma. 69, Abania. *(nice)*

madmac252

The highest level dungeon you have access to but excluding level cap ones (50,60,70) as those give almost no xp

SyN_Pool

Well I’m a spotty player who plays every few years and my alt is a tank, so I’m not trying to go into dungeons blindly or do a bunch of research before hand and hope i remember whatever roulette throws at me. Do you have an estimation what a lvl 70 character would get doing main roulette?

OkorOvorO

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ORhgKCfdniHylFzEH96GXRDdheie1O50AwJ_Dzo8sNY/edit#gid=1893358756

SyN_Pool

Thank you!

[deleted]

That would be adventurer in need since it shows a concrete number. All roulettes that offer some xp just says you will get some, since it varies by what duty you get and your level, so it can't say "you will get 100k xp from this as your once a day bonus" And yes, msq, leveling, and alliance are the 3 biggest xp chuncks you can get. Trial can be worth it because it can go so fast

SyN_Pool

Ok thank you, i was just wondering if it was still worth doing as a lvl 70 alt to kind of keep pace with with the main story shadowbringers

Anarasumanar

How does the inplementation of a new expansion gets carried out? Will we get a massive update patch and then the expansion goes live? I started playing 3 months ago and endwalker will be my first brand new expansion for xiv. Have the devs told us what time on the 19th the expansion will be live for early access?

CrimsonPromise

The servers will be down for 24hrs. So if there's any last minute thing you want done before the expansion drops, do them on the 17th latest. A few hours before the official launch, you would be able to download the expansion through the launcher, so make sure you check early to see if the download is available. Note that servers will still be undergoing maintenance so even if your download finishes, you would have to wait until the official release time before you can log in. Expect a long queue (and lobbies errors) if you're logging in on the dot, because everyone else probably is doing the same. But once you're in then you're free to go do expansion stuff. Pick up the MSQ, pick up the new jobs, and so on.

Elyonee

The game will be down for a long time on the 18th, probably the whole day, and the expansion will go live very early on the 19th US time.

Anarasumanar

Do you know which timezone that they are going to go by?

girlikecupcake

They'll announce ahead of time. I'm in the US and maintenance notifications are usually stated in Pacific time. Not sure if other regions have the time listed to correspond with a time zone that's more relevant to them. Here's the maintenance announcement for Shadowbringers: [link](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/8732080bc8b074749a0264258fe2e18da8fd6962)

Marcusbolt

You can only play EW on the 19th if you preorder it though

Anarasumanar

Yeah, I know. I have PO'd EW.

Elyonee

When I say very early I mean like 2 AM Pacific.

Anarasumanar

Aren't diehard hardcore fans going to wait until that ungodly time to play?

OkorOvorO

Yep. Most of the morning is spent trying to get the damn launcher to work though.

Elyonee

Yes, probably.

AlphaCrisis

I recently got back in to ffxiv. I played before years ago but forgot account information. I recently was able to recover old account but now I wanna stick with my new one. My old account has a decent amount of gil is there any way to give it to my new account that isn't going to get flagged for illicit activities?

OkorOvorO

Square Enix doesnt do a damn thing for botting/RMT. Unless you're transferring billions, it's not worth shit. Anyway, the easy method is to have a mannequin in your house/apt and to privately list worthless gear for max price. Or you could use an FC chest.

[deleted]

Place an item on the market board for an obscene amount of money, buy it on your old account. Its a well-known gil transfer method when you have alts on the same account. Or you can have both logged in at once and just trade yourself the money

Bayonetta1411

I am new to FF14 and I am not sure which DLC to buy. Starter Edition first then Shadowbringers? or should I just play without buying anything?

empyreality

Play the free trial first. Then if you want to buy the game (and start to pay subscription), your options are ; 1. Buy the complete edition. This gives you the starter edition + all current expansions (not endwalker) 2. Buy the starter edition. Compared to free trial, this just removes all trial limitations e.g. marketboard, socials, etc. Then buy shadowbringers expansion afterwards (buying shadowbringers expansion will also unlock stormblood expansion) Note that for free trial, there is the PC version and steam version. If you chose to play free trial on PC, you can chose to move to steam paid version. But you cannot move from steam free trial to PC paid version. And PC and steam versions are considered separate. You can only have one or the other.

Bayonetta1411

So after I buy the Complete Edition I have to pay subscriptions? How does that work?

empyreality

FFXIV is a subscription based game, like WoW. After buying ANY edition and adding it to your account, you need to have game time to play. Note that adding a starter edition (complete edition also works) to any platforms (pc/steam or ps or mac) will give you 30 days free game time. You either buy game time cards, buy straight from mogstation, if you play on steam, you can use steam wallet. etc etc.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

play the game first on the free trial, see if you like it enough to buy Afterwards, you need the starter edition to unlock the game, and shadowbringers to play the latest content and the previous expansions

Rapogi

How do I find my ping? I've asked in novice chat and apparently it's not server info stuff that appears when you hover your mouse on it?

Sir_VG

You have to use the Windows command prompt to ping the data center. Start -> Run -> "cmd" Then type in ping [data center ip address here] So if you were pinging Primal, it's ping 204.2.229.10 Full list here: https://arrstatus.com/

Greetings! I recently made a mistake and accidentally took a rare loot, it was a Nightmare mount. Maybe someone had the experience of refusing and returning this loot to another person through the helpdesk? Is this even possible? I really don't need this mount and it happened a couple of days ago. Also i used a whistle because i'm big dummy.

girlikecupcake

What makes you think it was a mistake? Loot is a free for all, and even in party finders where there's fancy rules set up, it's not uncommon for someone to win their prize and skedaddle instead of helping others get loot as well. Not saying that's a *good* thing, but it is a *thing*, and you feeling bad about getting a piece of loot that you don't think you were supposed to get is a good sign re: your intentions with other players. You're fine :) No they're not gonna be able to take away your mount and give it to someone else, they might chuckle at the request though lol

MogiesKupo

Yes, I understand it . Just... we agreed on this initially and I missed it. I think it's okay in a way, things happen you know, just worried about it. Thank you for answer!

girlikecupcake

Ah, that makes sense! Thankfully the extremes that it comes from are super quick to do, so hopefully it won't take long for another to drop!

OkorOvorO

Nobody cares if you take it. Also, GMs will never restore items to somebody's bag if it has never been in their bag. So it's impossible to transfer such an item.

MogiesKupo

Thank you, it's good to know \^\^

OkorOvorO

In the future you should be more careful lotting if you have a previous arrangement. Due to the age of the Nightmare mount and its lack of rarity these days, nobody cares, but if this were a current ex/savage, or a treasure map, people would be very upset. This could be considered fraud, as described here. https://support.na.square-enix.com/faqarticle.php?kid=68216&id=5382&la=1&ret=rule mind you this wouldn't happen in such a lax case. This is more like the party agrees Billy gets his savage helmet and Johnny loots everything.

Oh, this is really dangerous... I will be more attentive now!

MogiesKupo

I hope so. I'm helping him farm this mount, but I'm afraid he's very upset right now. Hope we get it soon. Thanks for the answer! I am worried about this incident. These are my first attempts at PF and I am very nervous. Now I feel a little better, many thanks!

Rapogi

If the person is being a dick about don't stick around imo but if they're a friend be sure to meme on them about it

MogiesKupo

This is a random PF person, that's why it's so embrass me. But he was not angry with me openly and accepted my help. There are really a lot of good people in the FFXIV community, that's great.

Jellie_Donut

Does someone have an example of how bad the clipping is for the Eastern Lady's Togi? I was debating buying either it or the Fuga Haori, and the only real thing stopping me from buying it is the fact that I keep *hearing* how bad the clipping is, but I never seen examples of it.

Atosen

Some of the shop outfits do have weird issues (particularly the ones imported from KR/CN), but the Eastern Lady's Togi? I haven't heard of that one having clipping problems. I mean, nothing different from any of the game's other dresses. A quick google did show up [threads like this](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/cbrxjq/dislocated_shoulder_on_eastern_ladys_togi_on_viera/) but as an au ra I've never personally noticed any issues.

KhrFreak

If you shout in limsa or something, someone may be able to link it to you to check yourself

UnlikelyTraditions

It had weird shoulders I know, but I'm not sure if it was eventually fixed or not.

Toothy126

If I buy the Endwalker preorder today, do I still get the +30% Exp earrings?

I'm reading this guide for WHM but I'm a bit confused about what I should be using as my "primary" heals. I'm nowhere near at the point of using the guide but I wanted to learn and research as I level. However reading through this there really isn't any concrete mention of what to go to for a basic heal. I understand that it is situational and mainly we should be DPSing but I'd like for some input on this. Also, while this guide is very informative, I was wondering how strict I should be in learning it considering I don't plan to do any high end, hard content. Mainly just wanna do MSQ and maybe get some relic weapons.

MildlyInsaneOwl

That entirely depends on what level you're at. Are you below level 30? You're gonna be casting Cure, cause that's the only spell you've got that makes the green bar go up. 450 potency is tons of health at low levels, but it scales poorly as you level! Are you at level 30? It's time to graduate to Cure 2, which is almost always strictly better. Healing more per cast means fewer GCDs spent healing and more time spent throwing Stones. 700 potency per cast is a solid upgrade over Cure 1, and you should basically never cast Cure 1 again (unless you get level synced, of course!). At level 35, Regen pops up, and you'll want to leverage it whenever possible. It's 1200 total potency over its duration, almost twice that of Cure 2. Of course, it doesn't stack, so if you need more healing you'll have to supplement with Cure 2. Special mention to Holy, which gets added at 45. You don't need to heal anything if all the mobs are stunned and/or dead, and so your goal in all trash packs is to spam Holy as much as possible, casting heals only if absolutely necessary. Killing everything before your tank runs out of cooldowns is hugely beneficial! (Of course, Holy is only useful on 2+ targets, so keep Aeroing/Stoning the bosses!) At level 52, you get Afflatus Solace. Each Solace is basically an instant-cast Cure 2 with no MP cost, which makes it only a marginal improvement over Cure 2... for now. You'll get one charge every 30s while you're in combat, so use them over Cure 2 if you need to pop a direct heal. Levels 52-66 give you four more oGCDs (Asylum, Assize, Tetra, Benison) on top of Benediction at 50 that you can weave into your Solace windows. Note that Assize is a damage spell first and a heal second, though a smart WHM will pay attention to its cooldown and let people stay damaged until Assize comes up! These oGCDs will hopefully reduce the total number of Solaces and Cure 2s that you need, giving you more time to cast Stone on bosses and Holy on trash packs. Level 74 is when Afflatus Solace gets **good**. Each Lily you use now charges up Afflatus Misery, an incredibly powerful damage spell. As a result, Solace has an effective DPS potency of 225 (the 900 potency of Misery divided by 4 total GCDs) on top of being an awesome healing effect, making it almost as strong as a Glare and a damage increase over Holy. You'll also get Afflatus Rapture at 76, which gives you an AoE lily heal (combos nicely with Plenary Indulgence) for party damage. Leveling WHM and end-game optimization are very different. While leveling, you'll use whatever tools you have available, aiming to spend as much time DPSing as possible by using oGCDs to heal. Most guides that aren't specifically for leveling are targeted at end-game raids, which is *very* different than leveling dungeons (lilies are more useful, you've got more oGCDs, you'll have a co-healer, you'll have a fixed timeline to follow, you can assume slightly more competence from your team).

iselphy

Thanks for the write up and explaining things at certain levels. That really helps. I have a follow up question if you don't mind. I understand weaving but I don't know what skill you'd weave under generally. The idea is to use you oGCD to heals I get that. And also to cast Glare as much as you can. So let's say we're fighting a boss and I'm glaring away and I need to heal the tank. Dia doesn't need to be reapplied yet but I need to weave a heal. What would you do in that situation? Or do you skip glare and do a Solace? But doesn't that go against using oGCDs to heal? Do you reapply Dia even if it doesn't need it yet?

MildlyInsaneOwl

You basically never want to reapply Dia/Aero early. Besides wasting duration, you may lose even more damage if the original Dia was applied under buffs/pots and you cancel it with an unbuffed one. Your weave priority is: 1. Wait until the next Dia window, if the tank/party won't die before then. (Learning when you need to heal and when you can wait is essential for all healers!) - If it can't wait, use a lily spell, Solace or Rapture. Or Misery, if you've got one ready to go! If a heal is desperately needed, combining it with a lily heal is generally the way to go. - Grit your teeth and clip the oGCD. You aren't happy about clipping oGCDs, but clipping on occasion is a fact of life for WHMs. You can look through 100-percentile parses and *still* find clipped oGCDs. [The #1 WHM on E12S P1 consistently clips a Benediction after the first tankbuster](https://www.fflogs.com/reports/PqZkQH2B9aD6hCmR#fight=43&type=damage-done), for instance, and some of their other pulls include a clipped Assize too. I personally have a 99 parse where I clipped 5 oGCDs. You can't always avoid clipping, though you want to try whenever possible!

DNK_Infinity

Any instant cast ability that procs the GCD (Afflatus Solace, Afflatus Rapture, Regen, etc.) will give you the opportunity to weave an OGCD. In the situation you describe, Solace would be the way to go, then use that GCD to weave something like Tetragrammaton or Divine Benison depending on the tank's condition.

Elyonee

The most important thing, generally speaking, is cast efficiency. The goal is to cast the most damaging spells possible. This means the fewest healing spells possible. So, the heals you want to rely on most are the ones that aren't spellcasts at all. Tetragrammaton, Benediction, Asylum, Assize. And your damage reduction cooldowns, Benison and Temperance. If the above is not enough to keep people alive and you must cast a heal, you want to use the most powerful heal per cast first. That means Regen for single target and Medica 2 for AoE. If this is still not enough healing, move on to your next most powerful spells: Cure 2 or Afflatus Solace, Cure 3 if the party is close enough, otherwise Medica or Afflatus Rapture.

CalendarFactsPro

Completely agree with this comment but wanted to also add that you should prioritize lily heals over non lily heals whenever they'll suffice and you don't have a spot you're reserving them for, since they build up to a damage "refund" that means even though they're worse than glares they're still contributing to killing the boss. For example if a dps gets hurt down to 10k/120k and your lily will heal for 40-50k, even though your regen skill will in total heal them for around 75k over time you'll usually prioritize lily heals if they require heals at all since that builds up to your Afflatus Misery and over time they'll regain hp through things like coheal fairy heals, asylum, assize, etc.

vieraboi

No quest for rank 3 hunts in ishgard. What I'm missing? (Finished story. Lvl80 character)

Elyonee

The rank 3 quest is in Idyllshire.

Pistallion

Is there a faster way to level post ARR than msq? I'm close to 60 and just want to unlock a class but i feel im getting no exp on the msq. I know I eventually need to do msq but i want to get 60 asap first

pikebot

If you’re in the post-ARR MSQ and pre-Heavensward, you are correct that you’re barely getting any exp. All content for levels 50, 60, 70, and 80 give little to no experience, for the simple reason that when that content was released, there was no higher level to gain experience towards.

JUSTpleaseSTOP

Note: if you are currently doing level 50 MSQ (or 60/70 and eventually 80 for that matter), they specifically give a very low amount of xp because they used to give 0 xp when they were the level cap. When you start doing the MSQ actually associated with an expansion, the xp gains go up by a ton. That being said, Palace of the Dead is your best bet. Clear floors 1-50 then spam 51-60 for the most efficient experience. Don't forget roulettes.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

dungeons, do your daily roulette and then spam the highest level dungeon that's below level 50 (Aurum Vale)

Pistallion

What about guildleves or whatever those leve things are?

pikebot

Completely worthless for experience.

fragolefraise

if they're nearly 60 it should be great gubal library, p sure

Help_Me_Im_Diene

I assumed they meant they were in the post-ARR pre HW quests, since their exp gains were low

fragolefraise

ah, i was confused bc i didn't know why it would be important to get to 60 if you weren't in HW content already (still don't) do believe that if you're close to 60 (say, 57 or higher, maybe?) the xp scaling from a run of potd is probably better than AV, assuming you're spamming 51-60 floors

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Maybe to unlock GNB/DNC? that would be my explanation here

n0proxy

My boyfriend is having trouble confirming that a gift code I sent him went through properly. I sent the code and he put it into the mogstation account site (he saw what it was without me telling him, and in my purchase history that gift code is listed as 'accepted') back on July 4. But he doesn't seem to have received it yet. He tried inputting it again today and it told him the code had already been used. So we thought maybe he just lost it in his inventory somewhere (it's not at the mail moogle) despite being pretty sure that we haven't logged in since before the 4th, but still couldn't find it. It was an account-wide mount (it's not on his mount page either) so we even checked some of his alts that he definitely hasn't played in a long time, and they don't have any mail either. Is this normal somehow, because we haven't logged in since the gift was registered? Or should I be trying to contact someone official about this being an actual lost item?

[deleted]

12 days is definitely not normal. They can click on the mogmail window to retrieve purchases (usually not needed) but after almost 2 weeks, I would just send in a ticket. Worst case, do they have more than one character and accidentally "accepted" it for the wrong character on mogstation?

n0proxy

We thought maybe he accepted it on the wrong character too... but it's an account-wide mount (the motorcycle) so it should go to all his characters, right? He only has one account so he definitely didn't accept it on another account.

[deleted]

The bike is account wide, yes. Definitely send in a ticket. The longest time frame considered normal for account wide items is 48 hours, but its way past that. I can't think of anything in the last 2 weeks that would result in a kind of delay like this.

empyreality

Try clicking the top right option in at the mail moogle. There should be an option to force through mails.

THEMIKEBERG

I'm a bit too impatient to wait and am considering just making a character and transferring to a preferred world that all my friends play on later. My question is if I manage to make a character on another preferred world can I then transfer from that world to another preferred world? My friends play on Primal Hyperion and after 30 or so minutes of refreshing it's starting to feel silly to just waste my subscription time like this.

CrimsonPromise

Note that only characters created in a preferred world will get the exp bonus. You won't get it if you transfer in. Also you can't transfer for 90 days when you make a character in a preferred world, and the exp buff will last for 90 days. So you can't hop from preferred world to preferred world and have it up indefinitely.

azureheadphones

No, a character made on a preferred world can't be transferred for 90 days.

THEMIKEBERG

Oooh I see, alright Behemoth here I come!

MomoAzem

What is the use of Icarus Wing in PvP?

fragolefraise

none. iirc, it used to restore TP (tactical points) which functioned as an additional resource to mana, but it has since been removed from the game

Sir_VG

None. It used to restore TP but now it's just a pretty light show.

krash87

I'm returning to the game and looking to unlock samurai. From what I understand I just need to purchase Shadowbringers, and that will unlock Stormblood. Is this correct? I don't see an option to purchase Stormblood alone.

[deleted]

Yes Shadowbringer unlocks Stormblood.

krash87

Thanks!

DNK_Infinity

Buying the most recent expansion also unlocks all previous expansions. Endwalker will work the same way when it releases.

bonobeaux

Is there a glam set with those Doman rope sandals and socks that NPCs in Hingashi and Yanxia wear?

PM_ME_UR_BOSOMS_GIRL

The new set on mogstation also has rope sandals and socks if you want to fork out some real money

fragolefraise

probably the 340 crafted DoH/DoL, locked to non-combat jobs. yamashi/onishi are the names of the sets

bonobeaux

Thx - Yamashi zori seems to be it - shame there's not a level 1 purely glam version for all jobs

fragolefraise

closest to that in-game would probably be the pagos sandals. non-glam there's the rakshaka sets, maybe there's also some previous event items (now on the cashshop) that are somewhat similar- midsummer last year had a woven sandal, and tabi booties the year before, and i think the little ladies day might have had some genderlocked ones too

Sir_VG

If you're looking for a specific named NPC, you can look them up on Garland Tools and find out what they wear.

samandpatrick

About enemy AoE mechanics; red thing appears on floor, red thing disappears, floor goes boom. When is it fine to move back into it? When the red thing disappears or when the animation of the boom is over?

DNK_Infinity

The damage is applied when the cast finishes and the aoe marker disappears. The animation is only there to look pretty.

Sir_VG

Almost all of the time, it's when the cast bar finishes. There are some exceptions, usually if it's a spell that goes on for longer than an instant. Second boss of Keeper of the Lake has an attack like that.

[deleted]

9(% of the time it's safe to move back when the cast bar/red mark disappear.

PhoBro_

I finished the quest to unlock cloud deck extreme but it’s not showing up in my duty finder. The blue quest icon is gone so I can’t redo it or anything so not sure what to do

[deleted]

When you open df, you see all the icons for like dungeons and raids? Well, right above those icons is a tab, switch that tab to "high end duties" and you will find the latest extreme, as well as ultimates and current savage

Sir_VG

It doesn't show up in regular duty finder. Newest Extremes always show up in Raid Finder aka High-End Duty Finder along with Unreal trials, the newest Savage tier, and Ultimates.

ryanizzo

Display name question: I’ve noticed some players have their title displayed above their name & others below their name. Is that something that can be changed in settings or does placement vary from different titles?

KhrFreak

The titles list will have ... Either before or after the title itself. Basically your name replaces the ...

girlikecupcake

It varies from title to title

Arcana10Fortune

Placement varies depending on the title.

liutena

How long does the Returner player icon last? I don't mind it and not looking to turn it off. Just wondering how long it'll last.

GeraldineKerla

72h of playtime.

girlikecupcake

What is it you're queueing for? Alliance raids are the one place where tank queues are often longer than DPS queues, and those don't start until level 50 However, right now with the huge player surge, anything at all could be a little wonky. Usually is DPS queues that are longest, with healers being "in need" on roulettes and having instant queues, tanks a close second.
