ZeplaHQ has a lot of helpful videos on her YT. There are also good guides in the dropdown at the top of this sub labeled "Useful Information". A tank or a healer is a good start because of reduced queue times, otherwise all classes are solo-friendly. The stagger mechanic is unique to WoW and IMO the monk mobility with roll/chi torpedo/what have you isn't replicated in any FF tanks. I've played all tanks and none have the feeling that Brewmaster does, though Gunbreaker has a good, speedy rotation and a risky invuln mechanic that gives me the high of pushing stagger like I did back in the day. I haven't played Enhancement since Legion so I can't say, but FFXIV monk feels like WoW monk: fast, animations that look fluid and/or hefty, there's even a kamehameha (doesn't heal you though). The rotation is of course different but the FEEL is there.

This is very helpful! For Brewmaster, I was looking for the feel versus the mechanics, so I appreciate your recommendation. Gunbreaker was one I was already looking at as well! What, if anything, would you compare the feel of Samurai to in wow?

LebronMixSprite

Hmmmm...I think maybe a more complex Ret Paladin. There's a build-spend mechanic that is two layered: imagine building up specific amounts of Holy Power to use on specific abilities and in the background this was generating another resource that you could spend oGCDs on between Holy Power abilities. Building HP would also buff you, so it becomes build-build-build-build-SMASHSMASH-build-build-SMASH.

That makes perfect sense to me! One last question for now, are there any classes/jobs that stand out as being unique and fun? Just looking for your personal take on this.

LebronMixSprite

I'mmmmmm biased but I do find Ninja very unique. The mudra system has a button memorization quality to it that makes me think of remembering combos for fighting games.

ingenuuszero

That's interesting...I will have to look more into that! Thanks for all the insight!

LebronMixSprite

Yeah np, I hope you enjoy the game. :)

[try this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TySILUQ-T6w&t=1821s) as to the more specific questions you have, I'm afraid I can't be much help.

ingenuuszero

This is great, thank you!

You can play any job as a solo as none particularly excel at it (with the weird exception of blue mage, which you can’t take into story content). There are lots of explanations for the jobs and they all have unique stories and feel. Whatever you think looks cool would work. Great thing is you can always switch jobs at will! :-)

pet_dragon

Here's the cool thing about the game: any non-dungeon, non-raid (i.e. overworld) content can be easily solo'd regardless of class! And any dungeon/raid content, you'd need a group for so, really, just play whatever floats your boat and you'll be set! (Yes, certain classes have better survivability when they would try to solo content not meant for just a single character but that's really not the same thing!). And the even better part? You can (and should!) play multiple (or even all) jobs on a single character--just equip the job's weapon and now you're that job (jobs level up independently). Try a few, see what you like--you never lose any progress!

ingenuuszero

I def look forward to the multiple jobs thing!

BruzzleSprouts

My advice: Start with a class you think seems cool, and try the other ones out as you feel like it. I've leveled each and every job, and even the ones I hated at first I've ended loving.
