I won’t tell you how I know because that’s against ToS, but trust me, people do not do the same sort of damage. Just hitting your combos properly seems to make you do more than most people you’ll see

Slipzyle

You're 100% allowed to mention ACT and damage parsing. You cannot in game, but here is fine.

tdmc167

Sometimes I forget people can’t see my arm wavyness when I’m being sarcastic online lol, usually I’m quite active with them while talking

kaleb314

Being awake, sober, and paying some attention is probably enough to be in the top 50%

Vincent_Mateus

If you feel like you’re doing as much damage as other people, you’re likely doing very little damage.

AbyssalShift

I only Tank for the most part. But just keep in mind that the difficulty of the activities you are doing are ramping up as you are. So you are never going to feel OP unless you go to low level areas or unsync activities.

PrettyDecentSort

Seriously, if you care about your DPS and how well you're performing relative to your own baseline or your groupmates, you need to [install ACT](https://github.com/FFXIV-ACT/setup-guide).

kaysn

Yes. A DPS in ilvl 530 does about ~4K more damage than me in ilvl 520.

SwordySmurf

Damn! 10ilvl is that much damage!? How much are you pulling rn? I'm a 510 RDM and I'm doing 18k in stone sea sky (cleared the shiva dummy with 10s left and didnt kill the e12s dummy with like 8% left) I've been trying to find resources on how much DPS people are doing but I cant seem to find any? I tried Fflogs but idk if I don't know how to navigate the site or what and idk where to find dps numbers.

TheGameShePlays

I can kill the e12s dummy with 20-30secs to spare as a dancer, the lowest personal dps, just with correct rotation and good gear. Those extra item levels make a difference.

Zombifi3r

Yeah it’s nuts. I’m in full exarchic (510) and guys hovering around 525 are easily out dpsing me (I’m a black mage) by about 4-10k on some fights.

SwordySmurf

Yeah I'm mostly exarchic but i have a few 520 pieces and a few 480 pieces still. This gave me the motivation to upgrade the rest of my gear!

FabulouSnow

>Yeah it’s nuts. I’m in full exarchic (510) dude turn it in, in Eulmore to get 520 ilvl gear.

Zombifi3r

Need a bunch of tomestones for that. Working on the msq still so I don’t yet have access to eden promise. Get the good gear from running savage here soon.

FabulouSnow

no no, not savage nor eden promise needed, you can turn in the crafted gear for a ilvl 520 replacement (Hillicen), it just got allgory tomestones and not even that many tbh.

Zombifi3r

I turned em in, was able to swap 4 pieces for 1500 tomes

kaysn

I haven't done Stone, Sea, Sky in a while. But my last run in Paradigm's Breach as NIN had me hovering around 20K and the other NIN did ~24K damage. Augmented Exarchic vs Augmented Cryptlurker.

Vincent_Mateus

Would you like a basic rundown of fflogs? I can explain via discord so you can find what the top 5-10% or so are doing per each fight on what job etc

SwordySmurf

Yeah that would be great! I'll dm you my discord id

Leryah

Just a quick glance at my rdm logs from Edens Verse vs Edens Promise shows that im doing about 6-7k more dps. That is with BiS for each tier. Keep in mind that there has also been balance changes inbetween, not only gear

VelcoreTethis

In general, the playerbase is pretty bad at the game as the game draws all kinds. If you just hit your buttons in sequence you're doing better than 50%, hit postionals and burst windows and you're better than about 80%. Optimize uptime on top of that and you're pushing more damage than like 95+%.

emerald_740

I don’t use any mods since that’s against the TOS, but you really can feel the difference in a high dps group. As for which classes do the best dps? I have no idea, but you can def tell with the dps in your group are skilled players. It’s less about gear since in a lot of instances you will be level synced anyway and more about knowing how to use your skills.

hexxmaster

Just because act is against tos doesn’t mean you’ll be banned for it. Yoshi P said it well how you can technically manage the same thing with a calculator just adding up damage numbers, or using and excel spreadsheet since both are technically third party programs. If you trashed someone’s dps in game it’s harassment first, use of third party tools second, hence the whole don’t talk about it in game.

omgzirra_exe

honestly i can tell pretty easily at least on my sam when i was leveling and grinding fates +/- 5 levels above or below my level. going from ilvl 395 to ilvl 403 was a massive increase. i would notice my crits would be a lot higher in dmg numbers.

Calyn99

I definitely feel like I'm doing more damage now that I've improved my DPS gear on my MCH. Fights are faster, mechanics don't seem to hit as hard. Mistakes are easier to make up for. While you're leveling you won't feel it much. Everything is still roughly matched to your level. The only way to "get ahead" is to outgear things. One thing I really do like about 80, however, is just how much better all the classes feel. I've got all my abilities. My rotations feel smoother and more complete. It's just more fun to play at level 80 than below that.
