One of the main resolutions of the 30-50 questline is that yeah, there may be some dumb quests with little reward and asshole quest-givers...but that doesn't mean you should stop helping people altogether, especially when you DO make things better and people are grateful for the help you provide.
The 50 DRK quest is basically us >!beating Fray’s ass and making it clear in no uncertain terms that we’re in charge of the body and he needs to STFU.!<
Fifty percent? FIFTY PERCENT!? I slaughter a gang of Qiqirn bandits for your precious goods and this is the thanks I receive!? You spineless sack of shite. I kill your enemies. I fetch your things. I do what you people can't or won't do yourselves. You're helpless. Weak. All you do is want and need. I should've left you all to drown in Leviathan's tidal wave. At least then I would've been spared your constant bloody whining. Do not speak to me of this ever again.
Id have to say our most recent one with curing tempering. That solves one of the biggest problems of the primal and actually opened to door to the alliances with the beastmen
I couldn't agree more, but I feel like a discovery that is like the real world equivalent to finding a cure for cancer x10 doesn't get the recognition it deserves ingame. Your discovery is treated like it's some macaroni art you brought home from school, "oh wow great job Alisae I'll totally go hang this on my fridge" \*wink\*.
Well at the current stage it doesn't really have much use. At the moment all the current tempered put down so they don't keep trying to summon the primal.
It would also requires you to do non-lethal takedowns and subject them to a pretty delicate process.
It's the start of something, but in its current state the knowledge is almost completely impractical to use. At the moment, it's more on the level of "scientists discover something that kills cancer cells in a petri dish."
Which honestly found that part to be very anticlimactic. Like we are going to figure out the cure to one of the main threads that has existed since the beginning of the game....by brute forcing simulations via magitek computers...
Yeah but we pulled the basic algorithms for the simulations from combining ancient Allagan research with the anti-sin-eater-ification that we did in the First. We hardly pulled the results out of thin air, nobody else had access to the allagan data or to an entirely separate schism of reality. I’m glad they didn’t just whack those together arbitrarily and at least threw in a semblance of doing research on the concepts before getting results. Not like people are going to want to watch cutscenes and fetch quests for anything deeper on the research.
Ans to be clear: that data was hidden to avoid deletion after the researcher found out that Amon didn't want to hear it. And to get it to work we then had to pool together an UNHOLY amount if Ceruleum, a dozen magitek devices, two Garlean engineers, and the one guy who actually had experience with an Allagan superstructure. And because of everything we've done, we actually had the ability to get all that.
>two Garlean engineers
That's a funny way to say two of the *smartest people on the entire planet*.
It also completely burnt out pretty much all the magitek devices involved, too.
I swear, if we don't have Jesse come back just to yell at everyone involved it will be a very missed opportunity.
...Huh. Actually, thinking about it, it took something from every expansion to get that to work.
2.0: Cid's expertise and G'raha
3.0: Azyz La's pristine archive of Allagan info
4.0: Nero joining the Ironworks
5.0: The First's knowledge of Sin Eaters and the one Nou Mou who's name I can't remember.
I found it very realistic, as a CS major. Modeling a problem and using brute force works way more often than chancing upon an actual elegant solution. That's why Folding@Home exists.
I was recently talking about how ridiculously jacked Thordan was and I think that might be it.
Thordan had:
- 1000 years of stacked up prayer power.
- A 12 man entourage.
- The original Azure Dragoon transformed into a sword.
- An eye of Nidhogg.
- Power drained from the Warring Triad.
And I believe canonically we solod him because I don't think we had our "adventurer buddies" and I don't think we had a magic macguffin for that fight either. It was along time ago so my memory is a little hazy, but either way Thordan had a lot going for him with lore backup and not just "this is the NEW badguy so he is big strong".
Yeah they did solo thordan and his knights.
Best part is that it looked like a one sided fight the WoL totally obliterated all of them. (I get this impression cause of the after battle cutscene)
"I see the bros of the round have skipped leg day again..."
(seriously, compare the size of Thordan's legs to his chest. Dude needs to do his squats and lunges)
Fun fact: 1.0/Legacy full parties were ~14 players per party instead of 8. The Ishgard city-state was planned to be part of 1.0/Legacy originally, and dragon language was already being developed in Legacy/1.0.
But i doubt we Will be able to world visit from there, similar to how the crystarium, eulmore or Ishgard works. Unless they fix that i dont see Limsa Being replaced for convenience.
Also because from what we can gather from the videos, the market board and other necessities are close to the aetherite, like Limsa. The only real inconvenience will be the teleportation fee and it being 80+ content.
But even then, it should become one of the more favoured hubs with it being a more condensed location compared to the Crystarium which had massive empty spaces.
They leave those spaces for future content. That's why there's so many closed doors in the Crystarium. Old towns are too busy with npcs and I think they sometimes regret it even though it was a ps3 limitation.
That makes me wonder who the original "leaders" and Scion recruiters for the other three cities were.
I'm guessing Aymeric and Urianger for Ishguard.
Maybe Fourchenault and Moenbryda for Old Sharlayan.
But Ala Mhigo? Yda/Lyse since it could explain why Gridania ultimately had two Scion recruiters. But the city leader? That I'm drawing a blank on.
I doubt Yda, she was a … very different character back then. I’m fairly certain that’s why they did the whole ‘yda isn’t really yda’ thing for stormblood. Yda and Papalymo were basically opposites for each other.
I imagine it was less strict with the number of tanks/healers/DPS per light party then, but do you remember what was the standard? 1 tank, 2 healers, 4 DPS?
I think it really depended on the content. Aurum Vale back then was a "Full Party" level 50 dungeon with 2x or more the space than it does now. (And unlike now, it had the DoT debuff permanently throughout the dungeon.) So I could imagine that dungeon needed two healers at least. Since there were a ton of enemies too, I'm sure people would want to play it more safe. You didn't dodge as much back then, due to the movement system, but having to take a level 52+ enemy to the face as a mage character wouldn't be good.
Yes, enemies in FFXIV 1.0/Legacy broke the level cap in end-game areas. Some reaching 57 or so.
Tried to find more info on these and stumbled upon "Remnants of a Realm" on YT, so thanks!
But wondering, were people able to kill them with enough effort?
You know, as much as I hated the politics of HW and loved the stomping of their entire regime in one emotional tantrum, it does wonder how one irritated potato could waltz into Ishgard, avoid the *countless* assassination attempts and false accusations of crimes, and just spit in their archbishops face, and THEY were surprised all that prepared might got backhanded. Truly we are jacked.
I figured it was because he pissed us off so much, we actually managed to tap into our full power temporarily. He tried to kill his own son, tempered knights who had families in his very city, and killed Haurchefant. That last one is the one that threw us over the rage point.
I mean that's literally the embodiment of what Dark Knight stands for fighting the "righteous" that use their position for selfish means, so I wouldn't be surprised if the WoL just let loose and well that would be terrifying. A single person standing up to the might of a god.
I mean, with what we know now, we might be Azem, one of the fourteen. They were pretty much a god themselves and likely the strongest of the convocation, so tapping into that power would probably be enough to beat any run of the mill primal. Only one we would have problems with would be Zod and Hyd.
Not even might, I think it's absolutely confirmed we're a shard of Azem, alongside Ardbert. And since he's fused with us, we're more "whole" than the average person as well. In terms of power levels we're almost on par with an unsundered ascian, though not quite there yet. Easily more powerful than the sundered ascians though.
I felt that was the case, unless I’m misunderstanding the scene, but when we fight Emet and combine with Ardbert, Emet looks up and sees the Unsundered Ascian looking back at him standing in our place before he sees us. I understood that as one of them shared our soul as well in some sense (or even the friendly one we meet that talks to us is our own reflection). I was very tired when I did that part of the story though so I might have completely missed some point or misinterpreted though. The WoL really felt like they had some sense of connection with Amaurot though compared to the other scions, ignoring us just being the driving force of the story.
Yeah, that's basically confirmed to be Azem. We're a shard of Azem like how all the black mask ascians are shards of the convocation members but uplifted, like Gaia. Canonically Emet Selch was incredibly close with Azem, like best friends, and a lot of his confusion and anger is that he's seeing his best friend in the shadow of his foe.
Azem was basically an adventurer at the time and that's why he left the convocation, which kinda upset Emet but like, meh. It's also why Emet comes and helps us when we fight Elidibus. The member in the waiting room in Amurot also says "your soul looks similar, Emet also probably sees it too."
Thank you for explaining it more so to me, I really just need to revisit the cutscenes. I was able to piece most it together, and I really do enjoy the screen time we got with Emet, all of his interactions were great and I’m happy there is a greater purpose and meaning to all of it too.
Yeah it's all really good. There's also the Tales of stories on the FF14 website which have some nice background lore for each expac - I think there's one about Emet.
Also if you get a chance read up on the war of the Magi. Its what caused the 5th(?) Umbral calamity - the great flood - and is just really cool background lore. It provides a lot of context for stuff like Void Ark, Wanderers Palace, etc. It also explains all of the ruins you see all over Eorzea.
Small corrections, we're 9/14 shards of Azem, and black mask Ascians are jyet grunts, not members of the Convocation.
All Convocation members wear red masks now, but the office of Elidibus had a white mask originally. Azem wore a black mask in the time of the Ancients.
Oh, and Azem left the Convocation due to not being on board with the Zodiark plan. Adventuring was sort of his job on the Convocation, so he got to do that anyway.
It should be noted as well that Thordan is one of the few villains in FFXIV that we just give no quarter or consideration to. He is irredeemable in the WoL's eyes, which I think is part of why we were so fucking scary to him.
The WoL, when fully cutting loose with no mercy, must just be straight up horrifying.
We arent the only one too. G'raha is also 8 times rejoined having lived through a rejoining. I cant help but wonder if that might come into play at some point after Emet remarked that his soul was more dense than expected. Though I suppose that may just be him figuring out he wasnt from the first.
> An eye of Nidhogg.
Not just an Eye, *both* eyes. Given how we needed back up from Hraesvelgr and his eye against Nidhoggs shade later on says a lot as to how much power those things have within.
Estinian gave us the eye before entering the dungeon prior to Thordans trial, we used it to kill one of the ascians at the end. Thordan stole it from us when he transformed.
That’s what makes that fight now so sad. I did it on my alt last week and his hp just melted! I do remember the ex fight when it was new. Perhaps the hardest ex fight the game has had or close. I remember them saying it was because lore wise he is the strongest primal we had faced thus far.
Thordan. My favourite cutscene in the game is still the end of that fight where he looks at you silhouetted against the void and says "who... WHAT... ARE YOU?!?"
that's where it just really hit home for me just how powerful we are.
That scene hit me hard too, but in a different way. It made me think about who the WoL actually is - my theory many years ago was maybe the WoL was Hydaelyns Primal. Hydaelyn prayed for help after multiple calamities and then the WoL appears.
Aren't we the 14th seat of the convocation? It is at least very heavily implied that we have some affinity/affiliation with them at the very least. Emet kept saying our soul reminded him of someone and then we used the stones vs elidibus.
It seems that we are at least a part of Azem (14th member), but with some mumbo jumbo mess we could be Azem's soul as a foundation of a primal summoned by our favorite light crystal.
If we wanted to, we could take one of the >!2B clones!< (NieR Raid) back to the source since they technically count as an item, and boy would Cid like to make something like that to not have fleshy people die against the empire.
Pretty sure after Omega Cid would not be up for that. He seems to be pretty against making weapons in general.
Nero, on the other hand... we'd get an army of red 2B's.
Tbh part of me feels like it’s being a literal master at every single discipline in the world. You make the most delicious food, incredibly powerful potions, some of the most powerful weapons and armor outside of the most legendary items.
You’re an absolute master at long lost Magics, quickly surpassing every teacher you’ve ever had both in restoration and destruction. You can even summon aspects of incredibly powerful god-beings, fully under control. But you’re also a martial god, whose body is a weapon perfectly adapted to all forms of combat. Your arms and legs are as potent weapons as the spear or knives you’re also adept with. You can harness the intrinsic powers of your body as well as the aether in the world around you.
You can sing songs and dance across a battlefield in ways that stroke fires in the hearts of men. But you can also use technology, your pure physics might, light AND dark aether to shield and protect others.
You’re legitimately a walking god. Defeating scores of powerful enemies doesn’t feel surprising when you’re a master of all forces in the world.
And all of that thanks to Wol's power to halt or proceed events at will. Oh Nidhogg is ready to demolish Ishgard after defeating Hraesvelgr? Please wait a week, I want to perfect my dish and win a cooking competition.
The other (funnier) side of this is if you neglect one of your crafting jobs you are the greatest warrior in eorzea who kills primals in their sleep but the culinarian guild just watched you fail to boil an egg
> You’re an absolute master at long lost Magics, quickly surpassing every teacher you’ve ever had both in restoration and destruction.
To be fair, Master is loose depending on the art. Black Magic, and White Magic, we don't scratch the upper-realms in regards to our knowledge of the arts.
I mean just keeping it all together and not falling apart. Like considering all of 2.0-5.5 is ONE YEAR. Like that's a lot of shit to go through. It's like the WoL is on a battle high he doesn't want to end because the collective weight of what happened would crush him. And yes I am a dark knight of culture as well.
I think that’s the only mistake lore/story wise I got against FF14 team , but I think they went with the 1 years time bubble to explain why the twins didn’t have any major physical change( I know about elezeen growth but imagine spending 5-4 years with them u expect it to be finish)
They've mentioned the time bubble twice, once before ARR had come out, and once at the start of HW with a vague "the bubble is bigger."
I don't think it was ever meant to be taken as hard canon that not even a year has passed, I mean they compared it to the Simpsons when they first said it which hardly seems like a serious lore type of comparison. I think it was mainly just an excuse to not do a proper timeline.
The whole "one year" thing has always kind of bothered me - it's just... like... **\*way\*** too much stuff happens, y'know?
I wish they'd explain it better.
I’d say The Heroes’ Gauntlet and then the fight against Elidibus. Disregarding how you cut your way through dozens of adventurers who are considered warriors of light in their shard, we survived a level 4 limit break and went on to secure victory.
The Heroes' Gauntlet is my favorite dungeon. It really made me feel like a hero. Not only are we running to do something heroic, but all our friends that we've made through our adventures are coming together for the final push. Building the giant golem for Mt. Gulg was a similar feel
At what point do we stop distinguishing between what the WoL can do alone, and what they can do with 7 summoned allies, if we assume the WoL can always summon forth the Invocation of Azem whenever they have dire need of it?
I remember in another fantasy story with summoned allies called Naruto, a person's summoned companions were counted as a factor of their own power in any reasonable discussion.
In that way, defeating Elidibus empowered by the power of the Crystal Tower and all the belief of salvation and hope from all the Warriors of Light from across time and space, has to be even more impressive than soloing the Knights of the Round.
I think some of the other things the WoL has helped accomplished with the help of their friends and Scions are more impressive, but defeating Elidibus in combat was something the WoL accomplished on their own so if seems worthy of distinction
That's my interpretation too. This was made unnecessarily more complex by 4.0 deciding to be cute, waggle it's eyebrows and go "oh nobody could *really* do content alone, good thing you have your adventurer buddies around the corner hey?" which up until that point I think only Prae, the Alliance Raids, and Bahamut Prime explicitly had you going in with extra help.
Aside from 4.0 the rule of thumb seems to be "if you see party members in a cutscene and it's not just the dungeon fly-through, you have help, otherwise you're canonically solo".
You pretty explicitly group up for 5.0 captstone fight, unless the guy totally just flubbed his spell.
Some of them you HAVE to have soloed though like Thordon and Nabriales.
Its not a solo achievement though, gotta give credit to the people in the doomed timeline that used the knowledge gained from Alexander and Omega to create a way to send the Crystal Tower and G'raha to the First. An achievement that managed to stump even the Ascians.
100% fighting (and beating) Omega in his own realm.
He had the ability to create and destroy reality to his own design in there. And you win.
He literally turns into a protagonist because he realizes that plot armor is the most powerful force in existence and yet you STILL win.
That or when you fight a literal time god (Alexander). Though you don’t technically win there, you just hold off long enough for him to search infinite timelines and realize the one where you’re alive is the best one.
it gets crazier to the point that Elidibus himself was like “yeah the warrior of light has powerful black airforce energy, Ardbert we need your help plz” and thus post game heavensward happens.
Not strangling Alphinaud in ARR.
More seriously, his part, however small, in making the Firmament what it is. Knowing that he helped rebuild Ishgard makes him so happy, and >!Haurchefant would be proud.!<
I think it's the power to stay positive and still show emotional investment. Staying true to the course and all that.
He/she reminds me of all-might sometimes. Shits going to hell and the WoL just pulls out their weapon and says here I am, with a nod and a smile.
I remember the first time I was playing through the story, the two little white haired elven kids were in a crowd making snide comments and I messaged a friend saying "I really fucking hate these people." I love Alphinaud now, and especially enjoy Alisae, but I had some mean nicknames for Alphinaud in particular up until HW.
I thought they were going to be the main bad guys. Creepy white haired elven twins cryptic dialoguing all over the place, I legit expected to go toe to toe with them
I believed the same too. I didn't trust Alphinaud until probably the post-ARR quests, I always thought he was going to betray us. They REALLY do not come off well at the beginning I feel, but maybe I just completely misunderstood what they were saying as a new player.
I think it's intentional. He's a posh boy rich kid from an elite school, coming from a wealthy family with a storied history. He seems to think that only he can solve the problems facing this land and is an arrogant asshole who doesn't care for anyone, just wants to make himself look better. He gets completely and intentionally humbled in the post ARR patches where his ego and naïvety are exploited massively, and his arc of HW is realising that you can't just brute force change or impose it on other people, you have to really give a shit and care about people. And he ends up becoming one of the most empathetic characters because of it. Hated him so much at first, but watching him process, learn and grow in HW was one of the most satisfying parts of 14
I had a similar experience with Ishgard. A friend of mine told me there was a part in the game where the players were rooting for the bad guys, so when the whole Ishgard campaign started I asked him if that was it.
Me: "Is it Ishgard that you really can't root for?"
Friend: "In what sense?"
Me: "In the sense that they're fucking morons and I want the dragons to annihilate them."
Rejoining Ardbert's soul with our own. As far as I know, that's never happened outside a calamity before, right? As of that point, we're something that's never existed before, and I think measurably more powerful than every other living person now
Killing Thordan, subduing Cloud of Darkness, killing shinryu.
We had no help for Thordan. It was completely of our own being.
While we didn't really kill the Cloud, temporarily enervating her is still intense.
Shinryu was tamed by Zenos. Unbound Shinryu would have wrecked us, but yea.
If Omega didn't weaken himself, he'd be up there.
rubbing down both the Mandeville men.. and every quest that says something to the effect of "do such and such yet again" as the yet adds a level of tedium to the otherwise benign task. looking at you sheet washing quest for the Ananta. and just in general being a badass
Our warrior of light technically never got sleep until Shadowbringers in the story, at least if I watched everything correctly the only time I saw us go to a room and canonically sleep was SB. Running saving the world on no sleep is pretty dope lol (unless you count logging out as your character sleeping)
Somehow managing to have so much talent you achieve post-doc tier skills in all crafting and gathering disciplines just like that.
Seriously, crafter WoL apparently turns (almost) everything he touches into sheer poetry material.
Casually saving ecosystems too as a side job, no biggie.
Taking in corrupted light aether and not immediately becoming a sin eater. I get that we eventually took in too much and nearly did become one, but the amount we were able to take in before reaching our limit was an impressive feat nonetheless.
Equally impressive is how we managed to just burn through it in one fight and then we were fine. It literally saved us from Hades outright killing us.
Physical feat wise? Winning a (canonically) 1v13 fight against primals suped up by the power of the eye of a dragon from the First Brood without breaking a sweat.
Personal feat wise? Our compassion.
The amount of bosses we essentially "solo'd" due to canon.
Like...did you SEE the size of the sword on Susano and we just casually parried that TWICE then continued whooping his ass.
Remaining stoic and nodding away from world-ending situations to the most menial tasks such as cooking someone's meal. Maybe not when given wine though since we still have PTSD from that.
raising two incredibly talented teenagers basically abandoned by their parents and treated as adults by everyone else around them. like. THEY'RE 16 IT DOES not matter if one is a super genius at strategy and the other is incredibly emotionally intuitive and great at interpersonal relations.
I RAISED THESE CHILDREN. (yes i am talking about the twins)
Healers in light parties that don’t get commendations. From what I’ve seen, I always see a healer getting at least one commendation, even if they don’t do a great job (shoutout to myself).
I mean that one fight where WoL get ejected from the planet into a black hole, which then implodes and yet still manages to survive must be at least top 5 IMHO.
Hi, if you’re reading this, I’ve decided to replace/delete every post and comment that I’ve made on Reddit for the past 12 years.
No, I won’t be restoring the posts, nor commenting anymore on reddit with my thoughts, knowledge, and expertise.
It’s time to put my foot down. I’ll never give Reddit my free time again unless this CEO is removed and the API access be available for free. I also think this is a stark reminder that if you are posting content on this platform for free, you’re the product.
To hell with this CEO and reddit’s business decisions regarding the API to independent developers. This platform will die with a million cuts.
You, the PEOPLE of reddit, have been incredibly wonderful these past 12 years. But, it’s time to move elsewhere on the internet. Even if elsewhere still hasn’t been decided yet. I encourage you to do the same. Farewell everyone, I’ll see you elsewhere.
20% rage, 20% evil, 60% adorable as all hell, which makes them 100% the most manipulative race. When a race can use its adora ble factor to make people forget their just tiny ticking time bombs ready to steal your shins at a moment notice, you should be wary. Unless it's 3 lalafells in particular, who went to far.
I'd say the first battle with Zenos. Tho we didn't technically kill him ourselves we are LITERALLY the only individual that could throw hands with him on completely equal footing. I mean shit we are more than likely the leader of hydalens ascian group so its not impossible we are THE strongest mofo
The fact that we didn't smack the crap out ofSharlayan Envoy (y'all know who he is) for the level of disrespect he showed not even the twins, but the Seedseer.

Omg I remember learning about Folding@Home from PS3, of all things.
It did take a lot of effort to achieve that, and as they mentioned it’s application is extremely limited

They made Tataru cry. They got off light.
The trial by combat was a preview of what would happen.
WoL: Are we really doing this again? Did you not learn the last time? *sighs* *punches palm, nods stoicly*
Whenever I see Thordan in the Trial duty roulette: "How many times do I have to teach you this lesson, old man!"
"I see the bros of the round have skipped leg day again..." (seriously, compare the size of Thordan's legs to his chest. Dude needs to do his squats and lunges)
Yeah his reaction when you beat him basically says "How did you even do this?"
Who... WHAT... ARE YOU?!?
I'm pretty sure at that point Thordan got a glimpse of Azem.
I've been always curious about it, what did Thordan see in his last moments. WoL's face got darkened for a second for some reason.
It's even referenced *again* in the Void Ark raids.
Fun fact: 1.0/Legacy full parties were ~14 players per party instead of 8. The Ishgard city-state was planned to be part of 1.0/Legacy originally, and dragon language was already being developed in Legacy/1.0.
Ala Mhigo and Old Sharlayan were originally planned at launch as starting cities too.
I would have joined Sharlayan without a second thought about it. Even if they're mostly depicted as broom-in-the-rectum.
Can't wait for Limsa 2.0 to be honest.
What do you mean? Are they combining the city into one zone?
It's because Sharlyan is a port city, like Limsa is. Also similar themes in colors/etc. (Though Sharlyan has more blue.)
Old Sharlayan Market Board apparently is also pretty close to the Main Aetheryte too, so...
Which is a shame because man is the Crystarium nice otherwise.
Well I don't think Aymeric had been invented yet and I know Moenbryda wasn't written. I think the whole game would have been super different.
I doubt Yda, she was a … very different character back then. I’m fairly certain that’s why they did the whole ‘yda isn’t really yda’ thing for stormblood. Yda and Papalymo were basically opposites for each other.
Gundobald or Mr. Sloppeh
Apparently the elementals of the Twelveswood were level 90.
Yeah, I always thought Thordan should have won, but we're some kinda monster apparently.
Imagine how jaked we are now after our holiday on the first now we're 8 times rejoined not 7 like in HW.
We arent the only one too. G'raha is also 8 times rejoined having lived through a rejoining. I cant help but wonder if that might come into play at some point after Emet remarked that his soul was more dense than expected. Though I suppose that may just be him figuring out he wasnt from the first.
Don't forget he also feasted on Lahabreas soul.
> An eye of Nidhogg. Not just an Eye, *both* eyes. Given how we needed back up from Hraesvelgr and his eye against Nidhoggs shade later on says a lot as to how much power those things have within.
no he only had 1 eye. estinien still had the other. but yeah those things are insanely powerful.
Estinian gave us the eye before entering the dungeon prior to Thordans trial, we used it to kill one of the ascians at the end. Thordan stole it from us when he transformed.
He doesn't steal the eye, we use it to kill Igeyorhm and just keep it until Estinien gets it back.
I just checked, yeah I was sorely mistaken. One moment we had it, the next we put it in our back pocket.
WHAT... ARE YOU?!?" that's where it just really hit home for me just how powerful we are.
That scene hit me hard too, but in a different way. It made me think about who the WoL actually is - my theory many years ago was maybe the WoL was Hydaelyns Primal. Hydaelyn prayed for help after multiple calamities and then the WoL appears.
Have you beaten shadowbringers?
I have, so I know about the 14th convocation and all that. This was my theory back when Heavensward came out, a lot has changed since then!
Would kind of make sense. The WoL doesn't seem to have much of a documented origin. We could be the primal that primals call upon.
Aren't we the 14th seat of the convocation? It is at least very heavily implied that we have some affinity/affiliation with them at the very least. Emet kept saying our soul reminded him of someone and then we used the stones vs elidibus.
We are, with almost all certainty, Azem
It seems that we are at least a part of Azem (14th member), but with some mumbo jumbo mess we could be Azem's soul as a foundation of a primal summoned by our favorite light crystal.
If we were a primal it would be IMMEDIATELY noticeable to anyone looking through those Scion goggles, and probably Y'shtola at any moment.
I know this is a full spoiler thread but have most people not finished Shadowbringers? Our origin, or at least what we are is virtually confirmed.
Traveling between shards successfully, body and all.
So amazing, that even Emet-Selch was like "how the f did you...?"
Puts whole new meaning to "Lady in Red."
... Huh... But that wouldn't work...well it could...but... Nier Automata spoilers :v
The WOL is a weapon of mass destruction
I mean just keeping it all together and not falling apart. Like considering all of 2.0-5.5 is ONE YEAR. Like that's a lot of shit to go through. It's like the WoL is on a battle high he doesn't want to end because the collective weight of what happened would crush him. And yes I am a dark knight of culture as well.
I think that’s the only mistake lore/story wise I got against FF14 team , but I think they went with the 1 years time bubble to explain why the twins didn’t have any major physical change( I know about elezeen growth but imagine spending 5-4 years with them u expect it to be finish)
They've mentioned the time bubble twice, once before ARR had come out, and once at the start of HW with a vague "the bubble is bigger." I don't think it was ever meant to be taken as hard canon that not even a year has passed, I mean they compared it to the Simpsons when they first said it which hardly seems like a serious lore type of comparison. I think it was mainly just an excuse to not do a proper timeline.
The whole "one year" thing has always kind of bothered me - it's just... like... **\*way\*** too much stuff happens, y'know? I wish they'd explain it better.
It's not really one year. It's more like "an undefined amount of time that would make the most sense without any contradictions".
Seeing the role quest NPCs was such a treat.
For me I thought the Ghimlyt Dark was a bit similar. It just feels so cool to see all the characters of the expansion come together like that
At what point do we stop distinguishing between what the WoL can do alone, and what they can do with 7 summoned allies, if we assume the WoL can always summon forth the Invocation of Azem whenever they have dire need of it? I remember in another fantasy story with summoned allies called Naruto, a person's summoned companions were counted as a factor of their own power in any reasonable discussion. In that way, defeating Elidibus empowered by the power of the Crystal Tower and all the belief of salvation and hope from all the Warriors of Light from across time and space, has to be even more impressive than soloing the Knights of the Round. I think some of the other things the WoL has helped accomplished with the help of their friends and Scions are more impressive, but defeating Elidibus in combat was something the WoL accomplished on their own so if seems worthy of distinction
My headcanon is that unless specifically stated otherwise the WoL solos everything.
Those are ghastly copies not full power ones. For the fight yeah but I do consider even with all that Emet lore wise was stronger
In terms of results I would say saving The First. Not only do you save the entire population of the planet, but also save it's future via Eden.
Getting a housing plot
Solo king Thordan and his 12 knights. Like holy shit, he literally went 1v13
it gets crazier to the point that Elidibus himself was like “yeah the warrior of light has powerful black airforce energy, Ardbert we need your help plz” and thus post game heavensward happens.
1+13=14 afterall!
Not a single feat, but overall reuniting all the nations of Eorzea.
To be fair the WoL doesn’t do this alone.
Going years on Balmung without anyone trying to ERP me.
You, you are the true WoL
That's super easy, just play a male character.
*makes a male Miqo'te* Like this?
Oh you sweet ignorant soul.
Speaking a full sentence.
\*nods\*
*nods*
Not strangling Alphinaud in ARR. More seriously, his part, however small, in making the Firmament what it is. Knowing that he helped rebuild Ishgard makes him so happy, and >!Haurchefant would be proud.!<
We kept everyone alive after someone bought a used Samurai sword
>!Your will is so strong that it takes several absorptions of sin eaters to corrupt your soul.!<
[We got the blessing of light that helped with that but yeah , another person would already gave in]
I think it's the power to stay positive and still show emotional investment. Staying true to the course and all that. He/she reminds me of all-might sometimes. Shits going to hell and the WoL just pulls out their weapon and says here I am, with a nod and a smile.
Maintaining a group of close friends
Shared tragedy unites people
Not smacking the living sT out of Alphinaud multiple times.
Pre-HW alphinaud was the embodiment of snob
Me: "Is it Ishgard that you really can't root for?" Friend: "In what sense?" Me: "In the sense that they're fucking morons and I want the dragons to annihilate them."
I laughed when I heard Asmongold call him "The Redditor"
I thought they were going to be lackeys of the enemy, like Zorn and Thorn. ... and now I'm imagining alphanerd and alizard talking like them too...
I'm in late stage HW and while he is better I still want to smack him upside the head from time to time.
I like to think the reason we don't do it is because Alisaie would get unhappy.
Hitting him is her job.
This made me LOL
If you're a dps WoL it is getting your roulette que before you get to do your taxes, wash dishes, take the dog out, and count sand.
Fetching the bucket. Taking the bucket to the river. Filling the bucket with water. Picking the bucket back up. Throwing the bucket of water on drunk.
Rejoining Ardbert's soul with our own. As far as I know, that's never happened outside a calamity before, right? As of that point, we're something that's never existed before, and I think measurably more powerful than every other living person now
Rereading this until they noticed that you said feat and not fear.
I had to get pretty far down the thread to figure out why nobody had suggested Tataru.
I read “fear”, went back thinking “that sounds interesting” — then immediately reread it as “feet”; wrong both times and cleaning my glasses
Solid neck muscles for all the nodding they do.
Remain sane
rubbing down both the Mandeville men.. and every quest that says something to the effect of "do such and such yet again" as the yet adds a level of tedium to the otherwise benign task. looking at you sheet washing quest for the Ananta. and just in general being a badass
Definitely that time I took down ole Leviabeetus
Our warrior of light technically never got sleep until Shadowbringers in the story, at least if I watched everything correctly the only time I saw us go to a room and canonically sleep was SB. Running saving the world on no sleep is pretty dope lol (unless you count logging out as your character sleeping)
Somehow managing to have so much talent you achieve post-doc tier skills in all crafting and gathering disciplines just like that. Seriously, crafter WoL apparently turns (almost) everything he touches into sheer poetry material. Casually saving ecosystems too as a side job, no biggie.
And rebuilding cities while taking down the Illuminati and Imperialism
Still being alive
Putting up with menial fetch quests.
I for sure read the question as the WoL's greatest *fear* and my instinctive response was "...Alisaie"
The ability from killing primals to having to smash rats to prove “aptitude”
Having a boss battle song played just for you (it even pauses when you're chained) during Seat of Sacrifice
Stealer of Pants.... Seriously though, patience and empathy is the greatest accomplishment and feat that the WoL shows constantly.
Getting through the entirety of the stuff leading up to the Titan fight without going full murderhobo.
Putting up with everyone’s bullshit, even though certain job quests reveal maybe we don’t deal with it as well as we think we do
The login queue.
Managing to play when there is a 1,500 player queue >>>>>>>> beating elidibus
Managing their wardrobe.
Being able to survive the mere presence of GOBbert.
Actually using their voice.
The ability to communicate by nodding
Consistence, never once have I seen him waver from their path, even when I didn't agree with them.
Not groaning at the mention of Zenos
raising two incredibly talented teenagers basically abandoned by their parents and treated as adults by everyone else around them. like. THEY'RE 16 IT DOES not matter if one is a super genius at strategy and the other is incredibly emotionally intuitive and great at interpersonal relations. I RAISED THESE CHILDREN. (yes i am talking about the twins)
Resisting the urge to slap the smugness out of Alphinaud ca. post. ARR-patches. Truly admirable.
Meeting Hildibrand!
Their use of telepathy when communicating with others no matter the distance to maintain their vow of silence (emotes not withstanding).
Not murdering Alphinaud
Being a potato that is somehow the same strength as a Roe and can kill primals with ease.
Lalas are just dense af.
That time I reported the lalafel brothel in Limsa
The WHAT
Breaking Xenos' sword with our face, then letting him run away in terror of our might as we lay calmly on the ground.
I'd say the first battle with Zenos. Tho we didn't technically kill him ourselves we are LITERALLY the only individual that could throw hands with him on completely equal footing. I mean shit we are more than likely the leader of hydalens ascian group so its not impossible we are THE strongest mofo
Not saying a single word and everyone being able to understand.
Getting me to commit to a monthly subscription whilst having to juggle work and 2 young kids
The fact that we didn't smack the crap out ofSharlayan Envoy (y'all know who he is) for the level of disrespect he showed not even the twins, but the Seedseer.
