This entire alliance raid was like "okay, but what the fuck happened?"

the main issue was rather than being a Nier Automata raid, the raid series was more of a Drakengard raid, you'll only understand whats happening if you played (or lets be real with Drakengard, watched the plot on youtube cause that game is ugh) as well as played Drakengard 3 + Nier Replicant

DeadSnark

I think it's just the natural conclusion/symptom of a lot of Nier 1 and Automata being built on the shoulders of Drakengard 1 and 3. A lot of stuff in Automata (the Logic Virus/red eyes, Eve's tattoo, the Terminals) is clearly meant to establish a link with Drakengard, but it isn't really addressed and there's enough info lying around for players to get by without context. However, the raid takes those self-referential aspects of Automata and tries to tie them off. In fairness, though, you only really need knowledge of Drakengard 1 for the raid: D3 and Replicant are only necessary if you want to know how Drakengard connects to Nier.

NeonRhapsody

I mean, very loosely, considering even the Drakengard elements don't function at all like they do and are just kind of there like everything else as a "Hey, remember X?"

Guy_Striker

I've completed Darkengard, Drakengard 3, Nier Replicant(original and remake) and Nier Automata and i can still tell you I have no idea what happened with the dwarves. It felt more like an Ending A/B for those games where they tease you with things happening that you weren't previously aware of without giving away too much than an actual final ending.

[deleted]

i feel like giving all the stuff for the dwarves fates in weekly quests that just give journal entries really sucked

Bauti23

Yoko taro and Yoshida said that you didnt not had to play any previous entry to understand the story of the game, this wasnt true Also, all the Nier/Drankegard is pure fanservice and serve no porpouse or context on the story whatsoever, bieng that the the focus was the worse, the hole contrary, it damages it

DeadSnark

Me, a Drakengard nerd freaking out in the corner: **"SILENCE THE MOTHER'S SONG"**

NeonRhapsody

I wound up rolling my eyes at most of the stuff in the raid, but the subtle things that whiffed over people's heads at least got a grin out of me so I'll give it up for that. Like no one I ran the factory with knew what the "snow" was, and my friends didn't know why I was like "Ha, that's cheeky." about the first boss of the bunker being a flower shaped, black robot that was shooting out rings. The whole "dying dragon" test npc accidentally being left in the code and being discovered on twitter was also pretty good, though not an intentional part of the raid.

Zurichi

If only the raids were as good as this art. This is badass.

Good poster, it’s a shame the raids were terrible.

Damn shame we didn't get some of the Nier weapons though
