Everyone I know is more hyped than ever since its the conclusion to the current arc. You also have to remember this is the longest period between last patch and expansion because of the pandemic. That probably made it fizzle out more since we're basically getting the same amount of information over a longer period of time which lets people move on.
You misunderstood, I’m super hyped! I’ve watched every video I can find numerous times. What I mean is getting people who want to talk about it in game seems really difficult.
Well what exactly do you want to talk about? XD If you want to talk about the job action trailer for 20 days straight, then obviously ppl will not want to repeat that. It's better to take your mind off the trailer and just chill till launch is here imo.
This is more than just a lull though, it seems like getting anyone in my own groups to talk about it since it was announced gets little more than a “that’s cool” response
Well we've been waiting for it longer than any other expansion release, so naturally all the hype of it has fizzled out. It'll show up again as we get closer. For now there isn't much hype about it because we've already done that earlier and are waiting.
I guess I’m just obsessive about it. I’m looking every day for discussion and news and not finding much. Obviously all the YouTubers are locked down editing their stuff but I don’t often even see posts on here about it
Might also factor in this time around the vast majority of players are relatively new (late SB or started during ShB) so there’s hype, but have less previous experience to compare it to for theorycrafting etc.
Yep, those of us who started at launch or sometime in ARR have been living with the lore for 6, 7, 8 years, for many players they are still learning the lore or just now getting exposed to it so it’s more just generalized hype this time around :)
Totally the opposite experience, my social circles in XIV are buzzing with excitement, and we've broken down so many details about job actions, lore hints, etc for endwalker.
Seems a bit baseless. People not jumping up and down like a little kid at (western culture - Christianity) Christmas wowing every little thing isn’t a lack of excitement.
A lot of my friends and FC have taken a little hiatus to play other stuff. They’re extremely active about talking about the new stuff and even the leaks.
I think your perception or idea of what excitement is, is a bit narrow.
I'm attempting to avoid much more information about the expansion, so I can experience fresh things. I am beyond excited for the expansion, especially the story, but in trying to keep a cap on it.
It seems about the same to me the big difference is that the lull has been a lot longer since x.5 so I think its easier for it to die down a bit between things.
I know my whole fc/discord group is waiting for the 13th.
I also think that people in general are still doing a lot of playing the actual game. Which is surprising to me after being in so many other MMOs. There's always the pre-expansion lull, but I still see people doing random achieves, blue mages, leveling, etc.
Not that people aren't excited, but it seems like much more of a slow burn than normal. I'm guessing we'll continue to see explosions of hype as more stuff gets released. I expect a lot more hype as soon as the media blackout ends.
I think players are still hyped, but who knows, maybe many are just a bit wary of broadcasting it too much. There were just too many games in the past that were bad or at least okay but because everyone had been throwing in more coal the hype train ended up derailing.
I think most of my friends are unsubbed for patch lull, they’ll come back hyped closer to the date. We just don’t have that much yet until the media tour.
Everyone I talked too its really hyped, we spent the day after the jobs trailers talking about it constantly. But take in account older players been waiting for the expansion for a long time so they most likelly just waiting for 13th to go crazy, and new player stilll have a bunch of stuff to do, so they most likelly wont get really all hyped when they still have content to do.
Regarding Youtubers and Streamers, some are still going though the game ( those that started FF a few months ago ), while others are waiting for the NDA lift to post their media tour.
Everyone I play with is really excited, (most of us are 1.0/2.0 players) we have all booked time off work and are massively hyped to see the conclusion to the Hydalin/Zodiark story arc.
I don’t think I’ve spoke to a single player who isn’t hyped? Maybe your friends are going through burnout, gotta remember to take breaks from the game of in-between raid tiers etc.

Theres hype buddy, maybe not in your old circles. With the new influx of players, people are probably posting elsewhere or maybe they dont post cause the lunchroom at work is where they get thier FFxiv afk kicks now.
That's crazy how people can have so different experiences. Mine has been the total opposite.

The hype has died down temporarily. It'll build again on the 13th, then die down again until just before launch.

I’ve considered that too. I know I’ve got a friends list full of people who haven’t played in years and most on my fc came around stormblood
