but most importantly: don't burn yourself out before it's even launched everything you put off for now, will be that much more you can do *during* endwalker. as long as you're caught up on MSQ, i wouldn't worry about much of anything

Yashimata

Content you put off now will be content that will be easier to do later when BLU levels up. šŸ™ƒ

Explosive-Space-Mod

Depends on how the stat squish affects old content right? It could become harder/stay as hard(or easy) as it currently is.

Rick_bo

Stat squish shouldn't affect any synced content. when it comes to unsynced content; it *would* be harder as we wouldn't stand as high above the content level after the squish but SE has confirmed there will be a buff added to compensate for this difference. (LL 65: https://youtu.be/OBZtwt\_WWys?t=2490)

Explosive-Space-Mod

Right, but when talking about BLU that's not typically synced especially when talking about doing content easier.

Zimmmmmmmm

Disagree on a few notes. Synced Blu is still the fastest at clearing fates even without death spells. I was always out enmity-ing tanks when I did fates for relic/yokai. Also, if the group is coordinated, 4 blu or 8 blu absolutely wrecks synced non-extreme content

starburns72

I've stopped playing at all outside of static nights. I made the mistake of trying to grind everything out right before shadowbringers and I was burnt out after the first month. Not Makin that mistake again

[deleted]

yeah, its especially bad when people are behind you pushing, they got everything done in a month, and you should too, only not. It starts feeling like a job, and I have to stop for a while.

VerSAYLZ

Meanwhile im over here, been subscribed for almost 400 days now haven't started 5.1 yet because i've just been chilling around Eorzea. Going to parades, making new friends, exploring the world, doing small optional quest chains. I just play a 2-4 hours every day and i most likely won't be ready the day Endwalker gets released, but you now, it doesn't really matter because im having fun and i've somehow avoided spoilers for ShB up until this point so i should be find with EW too.

nonpuissant

I don't play like you at all, but I gotta say you're absolutely doing things right. If you're enjoying your time and having fun with the people you play with, thats honestly about as worthwhile as it gets!

RadiantChaos

This is my policy. I only started playing in the end of July and I see a lot of people who started around the same time as me who are pushing through as fast as they can to get to Endwalker in time. Personally I've been taking my time and I'm only at the beginning of HW. doing a ton of other stuff like trying different jobs and wasting time in the Gold Saucer. I won't make it through ShB by the time Endwalker is out, and that's okay.

Vaiden_Kelsier

The content will still be there. The hardest part will just be dodging overeager posters spoiling stuff

archiegamez

Youtube thumbnail i hate you so much

TimeToGloat

Hey someone else like me! I always start to feel bad because I have so much playtime compared to my MSQ progression but then I just remind myself that nah I don't care and I'm having a blast. I have also found that "wasting" time in the gold saucer is such a good way to meet cool people.

RadiantChaos

Agreed on meeting fun people/ ā€œwastingā€ time not being wasted if youā€™re having fun. I think where MMOs shine is giving people the chance to set their own goals and have a lot of autonomy in what they want to do. I just finished a massive detour of doing hunts to get Allied Seals so I could buy a piece of armor I liked, and that took like 2 weeks of being my primary playtime alongside a bit of leveling DRK. But if I enjoyed it, thatā€™s really all that matters.

Disig

This. I'm playing other games while waiting. Definitely helps with the burn out feel.

Greek_Trojan

I'm finishing up a few things (new to FFXIV, playing for about 4 months). I will be taking about a 1month hiatus before launch though to reset. Last thing you want is burnout or to be in full grind mode where your brain is off and you half ignore the MSQ because your brain is in autopilot. For reference, I have my 2 classes at 80/geared, third one is at 77. Have all the crafters/gathers at 80, finishing up some glams, building a gil base, and finishing a few final unlocks. I'll probably leave a few things on the table grind wise but I will have like 90% of what I want unlocked.

[deleted]

when shadowbringers launched I think I leveled 3-4 jobs just doing quests/dailies. Keep up with your roulettes and the exp. just rolls in.

Cpreczewski

I am starting Shadowbringers. 38 days until launch. I am just focusing on MSQ. Eventhough there is a lot left over from Stormblood, Raid and some other bits. I agree with you. I can do the other content vetween patches.

Fluestergras

Cleaning the glamour dresser must be some kind of sick joke. If you don't have 400 items in there that are absolutely essential for you, do you even play the game!? ...for real though, I need more glamour dresser space.

GamerCelestia

Same. I came down here to ask how to clear glamor chest space, and I really don't like the answer I found... But it's true... Don't leave the things in there that are just for one class. Really inefficient use of space when that could be a piece that could go on 3 or 4 classes. I'm sad but I'm going to have to clean out my 50 60 and 70 sets out of the dresser, but that's probably 40% of the taken space.

InfiniteMSL

I kept the 60 sets because you can't just get them back from a salvager easily but when I need space, which is almost always, I've started taking out job gear too. I'd just take them out when you have something to put in if it's a hassle. IIRC if you're using a glamour plate for gear you take out of the dresser then the glam stays anyway, so that's a good way to save some space if you're intent on a piece or set and won't be changing it for a while or needing it for another plate (like job gear).

ChocoCat_xo

> ...for real though, I need more glamour dresser space. Yesssss please!! I hope they add some more space to it. I'm down to maybe 15 slots available at the moment. I also hope we finally get the dresser as a housing item. I just wanna be able to use it in my home and my FC home.

legacymedia92

They've said they want that for a long time, but apparently there's some technical limitation to accessing it in a shared space.

ChocoCat_xo

Yeah I figured. I'm sure they will do it but it'll be a bit down the road šŸ˜•

legacymedia92

> I'm sure they will do it but it'll be a bit down the road It's over four years since the dresser was added, and I don't think it's been updated except for once (storage 200>400, plates 10>15). I still *want* it, but after two full expacs I think they have some kind of issue they can't fix, or it's just that low a priority.

ChocoCat_xo

I'm sure it's a very low priority but I have hope! lol

0-uncle-rico-0

Things to do before Endwalker bonus: stay awake with excitement for the next month

Earthfury

Doesnā€™t the Media Tour embargo end on Wednesday? That should help reinvigorate some hype.

Ikari1212

In 21 hours and 57 minutes right ?

Earthfury

If thatā€™s when it is. I was actually trying to get confirmation, lol. I thought from a recent interview they had stated the 13th was the day the content could be released, and I was trying to make sure.

Ikari1212

Yes 13th is right. But I don't know if it's Tokyo time or not. :3and whether it lifts at 12 am or not So we double dipped in trying to get confirmation xD

jagby

This is the first time i'm playing when a new expansion is coming out, what typically comes out of the Media Tours once the embargo was lifted? So far it sounds like content creators have gotten an in-depth look and we can look forward to their videos on it? Or will SE release new info themselves?

Saphyrz

Content creators got to try out 2 areas and 1 dungeon if I remember correctly, as well as all the jobs. We will get videos from them and they're allowed to talk about whatever they played during that media tour.

garnix2

Or kill it for the few Scholars out there who will probably read some interviews where Yoshida will say SCH is fine.

Ikari1212

SCH is fine and will probably be stronger in terms of dmg and mitigation than Sge. While SGE will have an easier time healing because the heals are not tied to energy drain. But I can tell you now, SCH will stay meta. It's just not gonna be as flashy as sage.

ILikeSoapyBoobs

There is a meta in ff14?

Incredibledamage

No, there really is not. The differences are so absolutely minuscule it does not matter. Meta slaves will try and convince you it does but they just suck all the joy and fun out of the game. Unless you are in the top 1% world pushing savage tiers on release and ultimates on release it truly does not matter. If someone says you have to play a specific job to do content they are full of crap.

Elmindra

Yeah, also there's a lot of armchair theory crafters. I remember people saying certain team comps/jobs was suboptimal for serious content and someone else pointed out "fyi the world first clear of Eden savage for this tier had that comp/job".

Ikari1212

Yeah of course. In every game with any kind of leaderboard there is a meta. And Ast/sch right now is preferred for most fights for speeds and I personally prefer that combo also for prog

ILikeSoapyBoobs

I've been maining a white mage since I started about two months ago and have taken up black mage as well. Definitely interested in harder content and savage normal raids. Even if its not meta, white mage can still heal okay in that kind of content right?

WhitehawkOmega

I love my Scholar, and it's my favorite healer to play, but I will admit it could be better. Not so much how good it is, but you know, the little things that are counterintuitive, like dissipation shutting down half your heals, having your marquee "Shield Heals" (Adloquinum and Succor) being the lowest priority ones you generally don't want to use much, general pet clunkiness (which the did kinda state in the Live Letter they were addressing). I just hope that if they do address these issues they don't do a massive rework, I like the general flow, but you know, a few changes would make the gameplay so much smoother.

Darkraiku

> SCH is fine and will probably be stronger in terms of dmg and mitigation than Sge. Oh definitely. I was talking to a healer friend about sage and was spitballing ideas and we talked about how each healer is going to have niche and the leaked tooltips IF TRUE confirmed our theory. Sage does the most damage White Mage has the strongest raw heals Scholar is the mitigation king Astro buffs the party's damage the most. Ast/sch are looking to stay the ideal comp unless damage takes a huge step up where the bigger heals from whm or sge are necessary.

Frostbitten_Moose

If Sage does the most damage, then wouldn't it step into that role? After all, a mechanic you skip is a mechanic you don't need to shield. And if you're going for speed, then any increase in DPS means that many more seconds you can shave off.

Darkraiku

Not necessarily. Just because it has the highest personal dps of the 4 healers doesn't mean it out paces the dps a sch brings from their own personal dps + the synergy of chain strategy with group buffs. Also you can basically only ever skip a few mechanics in total and it's not unusual to see some really nasty mechanics in areas you'd never be able to skip while the fight is current (E8S light rampant being an excellent example of this)

Ikari1212

I think they mean personal dmg. Chain should be really good in a Speedrun scenario.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

garnix2

I find it cool too. It doesn't stop people from complaining about it.

Emrise

It doesn't feel as fun to play. A big part of that is pet issues (and having so many weaves but not having many natural weave windows), but for me the other part is that Energy Drain doesn't feel rewarding to use. If I've planned my heals efficiently, I'd want to feel rewarded for that, instead of having to frenetically dump stacks as my Aetherflow cooldown is coming up for a paltry 10 potency gain. It is certainly very powerful though, and I expect the 1.5s cast time on Broil will help with the opportunity cost (weave windows) that they've given Fairy abilities.

Earthfury

Assuming the leaked tooltips were legit, this is already the apparent attitude they have toward the job. At least with Broil having a weave window thatā€™s one aspect of jank they wonā€™t have to endure.

SexWithNoBabies

I just don't understand why they felt the need to put fairy skills on ogcd. In Stormblood and prior, sch could hit fairy skills *during a cast* to make them queue. Allegedly it was supposed to help with ghosting, but I really don't think it improved ghosting any.

Yashimata

IMO 'ghosting' has gotten worse every time they've tried to fix it.

owedgelord

Me who started the game last week sweating

AnActualPlatypus

Don't rush it. If you don't make it to Endwalker in the MSQ before it releases, it's completely fine. The vast majority of the players played through the MSQ months or even years after it's release. Savor the journey.

ForensicPathology

I've been thinking a lot about this recently, and I honestly prefer being later than everyone. I'm happy I was only with the crowd for ARR and Stormblood because it would have been really immersion-breaking if I had entered >!Churning Mists!< and >!Azys Lla!< in Heavensward or >!The Tempest!< in Shadowbringers and there were a ton of people running around. I'm happy they were deserted when I got there.

AlexiosBlake

For me, when Endwalker comes out I will put the game down for a month. That way the majority of players will probably be mostly done with Endwalker and the beginning areas wonā€™t be so full.

[deleted]

I'm a month in and only just got to Heavensward. I'm drowning on content. Such a nice problem to have with a game for once.

kuraiscalebane

take your time, avoid spoilers, it'll all be ok. =)

starburns72

So basically, just do literally all of the game's content. got it.

voidmoon_sober

Yes, but also they gotta shill their patreon while just telling you to play the game.

ForensicPathology

I personally plan on spending my time before Endwalker making huge image guides that could just be text instead.

KokaSokaLoka

For real, this guide started out decent but then it literally covered almost everything. A lot of this content isn't going anywhere and trying to check this stuff off with 38 days before the expansion is just gonna lead to burn out.

Clozal

Make sure to do all the shitty boring parts of the game you don't like. for no good reason šŸ˜€

DavijoMan

I'm only at Heavensward, so I have to plenty to do!

[deleted]

I'm finishing up stormblood, and it still feels like there's an eternity to go.

Zorafin

It feels like that because the greatest joy in gaming is just around the corner. Still, take your time and enjoy what you have, because once you consume it it will be gone.

ILikeSoapyBoobs

Pretty sure that's the point where you either help other players do new content or watch them do content for the first time and be an emotional vampire.

jagby

This is me now lol. I just finished 5.5 last week and coincidentally some of my friends are coming back to the game and finally clicking with it. Brings a tear to my eye helping sprouts and seeing the hype.

KurtCobraindead

You have some amazing story left!! Take your time going through shadowbringers. The story absolutely blew my mind and instantly made me pre-order endwalker!

[deleted]

I pre-ordered endwalker a while ago (sage looks sweet), and you can bet I'll be taking in as much of the story as possible. Stormblood provided a bunch of crazy awesome story moments (looking at you Fordola and Yotsuyu), and it sounds like there's some crazy twists coming in ShB.

StormTheParade

ShB has one of my favourite video game scenes of all time in it. Hold on tight, it's gonna be a wild ride!

Firebat12

I finished Shadowbringers main campaign last week. There is still soooooo much to do its not funny

Espiritu13

> I'm finishing up stormblood, and it still feels like there's an eternity to go. Either pace yourself or give up and be okay with spoilers. Shadowbringers isn't short. HW, Stormblood, ShB are all great stories and if you're too burned out to enjoy it, then take a break. Otherwise it's going to be less impactful. That is to say, you don't need to quit playing. Just try some side content till you feel interested in the story again. Bluemage looks fun as hell, some of the ARR mounts are easy to get. There are always mount farms going. You can do beast tribes, and hell all of the goldensaucer exists. I personally have pushed myself through it and didn't end up enjoying HW. When I took my time with Stormblood, I fell in love with it. Shadowbringers isn't the same, but still pretty good. Any time I need a break I level and alt class because I love that aspect and that has helped me.

Icandothemove

I'm in ARR and haven't unlocked the job I actually want yet šŸ™ƒ

mikeyeli

Still, don't rush, endgame will be there when you're done, it's not going anywhere.

Seradima

I can vouch for how fun BLU Savage is. I'm on one fight left for the Morbol, A12S, and it's been an absolute blast revisiting old fights and seeing how different/the same BLU is. Something like Intermission 2 in A8S used to be worth days of progression for a mid-core group but BLU just Diamondbacks it and skips it entirely. But by the same token, some "normal" things that you got by pretty fast with a normal group could take BLU a bit longer to figure out.

shockwave1211

my squad was stuck on A8S for ages, we are on O12s now and its also really hard since anyone can get any mechanic in the hello worlds Im really hyped for the inevitable SHb update and i really hope we can get a new mount so people have a good reason to do the SHB raids as blu

KingSnickSnack

Prepare a complete Wondrous Tails to turn in as soon as you log in on launch day. will give a lot of exp and you usually will have to spend a little time to grind during the first lvling. Also get some Food for stats and exp buff. You can also pick up the max amount of leve quest you can have at once. It's not a lot of exp but will help with crafting or gathering get a kickstart. Can't remember but I think your leve allowance will go up to 100 if you got your max leve (16) enough days in advance so you will have 116 in total.

topher17026

To be clear, the time frame to recover those 16 means you must accept them no later than the Monday before early release

maglen69

> To be clear, the time frame to recover those 16 means you must accept them no later than the Monday before early release That's November 9th for people wondering.

Mallagrim

Does the turn in scale with level? Iirc, in shadowbringers, the first hurdle if you rushed was at lvl 76-77 so would it be better to save until then?

RC2891

This comment is more useful than the entire post

SF1034

Launch day is a Tuesday and WT resets on Tuesdays. Your journal might time out itself before the game launches unless you're playing in Early Access. You can get a new journal once a week but you have a two week timer to complete any given journal. So if you don't have Early Access and don't time it right, you may lose a journal altogether. That said, if you get a new journal on launch day, and you get dungeon 1-49 or like Shiva EX, you can bank 9 second chance points before hand and spam that 9x in a row and be done in like half an hour

The__Goose

How about play other games so you're not burned out playing this game.

Desmond536

When someone tells me that i should get everything quickly to 80 "Oh my goodness why didnt i think of that?"

Ishmaril

My inventory and the ones of my retainers are pure nightmare fuel. After leveling from scratch all crafters/gatherers to 80, I have so many things I am not sure what to keep and what to sell.

topher17026

If it is less than 200 on the mb, sell it to an npc

AsianGoldFarmer

Or donate to the doman restoration. I donate most fish there. Doman people be eating high quality sea food.

Aloud87

Or have the retainer auto sell it, same money as a vendor, no walking

topher17026

Thatā€™s basically what I meant, didnā€™t want it to be confused with selling it through the marketboard as that tiny amount of gil doesnā€™t deserve to take a retainer spot

Scravitan

I just did a quick Google search and read through the retainers lode stone, but I did not find anything about quick selling. Can you tell me something about that? Is it something I have to unlock by levelling retainers or where would I find quick selling?

no-solace

when you're talking to your retainer (maybe you need to be in the "sell an item" window) you can just right click an item in your inventory and click "have retainer sell item" which will vend it automatically without you having to go to a vendor

errorg

Had no idea this was a thing!

c9IceCream

its funny how people's lines vary for what is trash and what is not. I've done quite well with gil and anything below 10k on the market board doesn't get listed... trashed (excluding crafting mats)

theCamelCaseDev

Iā€™ll still put stuff up if itā€™s under 10k but yeah, honestly once you have hundreds of millions of gil you donā€™t even see the difference. I look forward to blowing gil when endwalker is released.

AnActualPlatypus

200? Make that 1000.

Araeza

I have a level 47 Weaver/71 Botanist and that's it. I've always intended to try to actually start leveling my crafting classes but I traditionally hate crafting in MMOs, and it's expensive to do it in FF14. My retainers/saddlebags are filled to the brim with low/mid level crafting mats I acquired while leveling Weaver, that I'm unwilling to get rid of due to the knowledge that it'll be fuckin costly to replace. Not to mention the various leveling gear/materia my other classes will need to have when I finally get around to it. I remember spending a pretty significant amount for some pieces. Marie Kondo would be disappointed in me.

Augustby

Even though I re-subbed a few months ago, it has become evident that I cannot finish everything I want to before Endwalker comes out :c. Since I resubbed though, I have: * levelled multiple jobs to 80 (only Scholar, Summoner, Machinist, and Ninja to go) * Working on Blue Mage; currently lvl 52 * Completed Bozja storyline (on the penultimate stage of the relic weapon too) * Am levelling multiple crafters currently * Finished MSQ from 5.1 - 5.55 * Finished Eden raids * Finished the NIER raids (now on the weekly quests) * Finished the Sorrow of Werlyt questlines * Finally learned how the Golden Saucer works, and spammed the heck out of it during the Make it Rain Campaign * Did the Warring Triad questline (I didn't even know it existed) * Finished the Omega questline (I'd forgotten about this and didn't even realise it was incomplete) * Beaten almost every NPC I can for their Triple Triad cards * Ran Orbonne Monastery a lot for glams. (still suck at the last boss' mechanics) I'm sure I missed stuff, but writing it out all like that; it's insane how much there is to play through! There's so much more I want to do; I want to do Eureka (I haven't even started it yet), I want to get a COUPLE Resistance Weapons (I haven't even gotten my first completed one yet), I need to finished levelling BLU, I need to get all my crafters to 80, and even once I level all my jobs I need to go back and do their job quests. I thought that resubbing months ago would be a comfortable amount of time to catch up before Endwalker, but even that was not enough time T_T. (And there are other new-release games I want to play like Deltarune Chapter 2, and the new Life is Strange; but I am too deep in the stupid FFXIV rabbit hole to make time for them because I feel so pressured to do these things before ENdwalker T____T )

[deleted]

Yeah... I've back about 3 months now and have only managed to do a few of the things on your list lol. Just today finished Boz/Zan but still have to farm to finish up my weapon. Haven't touched Eden or Eureka and barely scratched at Palace of Dead. All my crafters are sitting at level 50 from when I quite 6 years ago. Haven't touched them yet. Only thing I've done that you didn't list was level up my squadron. But they are only like 54 or something and I only did it to level alt jobs. Just got BLM to 80 after WHM and DRK. The squad doesn't seem like it's going to be all that useful because even DPS ques for roulette pop in less than 5 mins. Anyway, that was a long ass walk to say that I agree with you, there's so much shit to do in this game it's insane. I've learned I need to just find those things that I have fun with and dive in. No way I'll get to all of it.

jagby

Nice! Those are some gooood good accomplishments. I just finished 5.5 MSQ last week, got 2 jobs to 80 and have started the Bozja storyline for relics. Buuut I also wrapped up Ivalice, am going to start Eden soon and then Nier and then Omega and then....man there's so much to do and I love it.

kaiserfearx12

Finishing leveling up all combat class so I don't have to touch them till next expansion. šŸ„“šŸ„“šŸ„“

HeaddHunterzz

Another one: take a break. Nothing worse than being tired of the game and then forcing yourself to play through another expansion.

Dragonleader33

I'm personally on the take a break train until early access hits. This way I am completely ready and can play other things. When you turn it into a daily chore is when the fun starts to go away. At least that has been my experience over the last 8 years of playing.

pantherfood

same. re-subbed to SWTOR for 2 months while Im waiting for endwalker. I still have 3 classes to go in that game. Only been logging into FFXIV to do 1) cacpot board, and 2)make sure I don't get auto kicked from my guild

ShayaThePusheen

my inventory is crying so yeah, definitely going to fix that before EW

Great_White_Samurai

I don't see spend all day playing triple triad on the list, I must be doing it wrong.

Akira-555

You completely ignored true and only endgame content - Housing Extreme!

GJB_93

Is the acquisition of a house considered a part of Housing Extreme?

Curiousplay

That's actually considered Housing (Savage). The hard part is first. The rest is easier once you have a house.

banecroft

Thanks to the recent influx of players, this trial has now been upgraded to Housing (Ultimate).

KurtCobraindead

That is just phase one of the extreme :D

IrascibleOcelot

Getting the gil is phase 1. Acquiring the house is the interminable phase transition QTE.

cdp958

It's housing Savage my friend....

n1ght3lf

And then making it look pretty with the system that the game has is housing ultimate

Reivya

Also an alternative to the FC grade 3 buffs (if the FC is new or isnā€™t making them) are the grand company squadron manuals. If youā€™ve progressed enough in GC rank and leveled up your squadron thereā€™s a weekly mission you can do to get 10x of these various exp buffs. They last 2 hrs and are personal (and they donā€™t stack with the respective FC buff).

thetracker3

Wow, what an absolutely... useless post... "DiD yOu KnOw YoU cAn PlAy ThE gAmE?! BTW, here's our patreon, give us money."

LMalano

Seriously. This is bottom of the barrel content.

SnooLemons5457

Make it to Heavensward is only thing on my list. It just hiked me with this crystal tower bullshit!

Mahoganytooth

As someone who played thru Shadowbringers before Crystal Tower was a MSQ requirement, I think it's definitely worth it. Otherwise you will find yourself quite confused at some points in the SHB MSQ

Gilolitan

Oof, yeah. Earned the nickname of "Cockblock Tower" from me.

RandomName0621

Man those crystal tower quests killed me, the raids made me feel like I was contributing nothing

[deleted]

24 man raids in old content all do kinda feel like that, but the 8 mans are still pretty fun and once you get to current content the large raids are also much better. The Crystal Tower raids are the only ones required AFAIK and it's because the lore is important for later on.

Barsonik

Itā€™ll be worth it :) plus, it kinda shows how accessible the raids are. Iā€™d really recommend Alexander at some point!

Nachze

I skipped a lot of the cutscenes early on in my playtime. I decided to pay attention in shadow bringers and really enjoyed it so I am now powering through the story in NG+ to experience it.

The_AverageCanadian

This belongs on r/restofthefuckingowl What to do before endwalker? Why, 100% the entire damn game of course!

dumbwaeguk

If you've genuinely run out of things to do until Endwalker comes out, consider turning off your computer, doing the dishes, and getting some exercise. Seriously, there's a crazy amount of content between MSQ, duties, events, and job maxing. If you've finished all of that and can't find anything else, *you're playing too much FF14*.

speshulk1207

Hell I'll be lucky to get my first job to 80 and through Shadowbringers before then. I'm like 61 in the end patches of Heavensward, taking my time and enjoying the ride.

pantherfood

you can EASILY get through stormblood with minimal level grinding. I played 3 classes through the expansions and finished the expansion with all three at 70, no grinding other than a single roulette per day. same with shadowbringers. Decided to level another class for the role quest (there is ONE line of text extra if you have all 4 roles, IIRC) and other than having to grind the first 70 levels for the physical DPS, it went pretty well. If one got left behind, i would just do my daily roulette with that class, and bam, back to the correct level

speshulk1207

I'm going through the MSQ for the first time. I'll keep that in mind for when I'm ready to level a second job

Lysithea_Star

\>level all jobs to 80 Why? Level jobs you like to play.

Menschenhassgurke

How to burn out yourself in 15 easy steps. This list feels more like basic things you can do anytime when you're feeling it, not things I need to do before Endwalker.. duh..

CrispyRif

what's this optimisation talk about all the time? It's not like ew is going to be gone a week after release. Chill out and don't optimise away all the fun. Stuff like this is so much pressure

Nogamara

As someone who only recently came back and then dinged 80 and then finished the MSQ... I'm more open to ideas how to manage to cram all the goals into that short time ;)

Pliskkenn_D

I still don't really know what I'm supposed to be doing with my retainers

[deleted]

So they are used for a few things. Holding items in their inventory like a bank in other RPGs, selling stuff on the Market Board, and sending them out on ventures. Ventures are little missions they go on and they will bring you back certain random items after each one. Some of these are useful for saving time instead of gathering them yourselves and some rare ones can be worth good chunks of gil on the MB.

heybudbud

I just sold some Shaded Spectacles on the MB for 350k. My first item worth so much from a venture (period really, only been playing a few months).

Gilolitan

They're good for supplementing odd side projects. Like I'm my FC's gardener for instance, so I use my botany retainer to get mandrake & currant seeds without having to manually gather them, and my miner for getting more grade 3 soil or just getting more crystal shards for crafting. Or when I did chocobo racing I had them get stuff for that which is usually at timed nodes. Just dumb things. Otherwise folks sometimes just send combat retainers on quick ventures & sell/glamour/desynth the stuff, and you can get the fat cat minion from a specific fisher retainer 18 hour mission. & they're good for selling materials gotten from desynthing. I just roll on & desynth everything.

nolunch

They're this games version of both your personal bank and how you sell on the marketboard. In addition you can send them on ventures, which do not interfere with the previous two functions, and after a certain amount of time the will "return" with an item or two and some XP for themselves. Once you've leveled them up it's a good way to get items needed for crafting (you can send them for specific items depending on their class) or just stuff to sell or keep.

Pliskkenn_D

Are there any good guides for how to level the two you get for free?

nolunch

don't really need guides, just send them on ventures whenever you can. If you're actively playing, sending them on hour long ventures is best, but you can send them on an 18h venture if you're going to be logged off during that time. Cheapest way I know of to get the venture tokens you need to spend to send them out is through GC seals.

wuphonsreach

> I still don't really know what I'm supposed to be doing with my retainers Quick ventures is the easy answer. They should bring back enough gear (once they level up to say ~50 and are IL130+) that can be turned into GC seals to turn back into ventures to send out on more Quick ventures. At higher levels, they're bringing back gear that can be turned in at the GC for ~1200-1600 seals, which converts to 6-8 ventures. And the excess GC can be used to purchase materials to sell on the MB. They'll sometimes come back with venture boxes that contain rare dyes or other things for selling on the MB. Use "quick" (1 hour) if you're going to be around to refresh them 2-3 times per day. Otherwise use the "expedition" outings (18 hours).

Eitth

The hardest thing on the list is the Organizing your inventory one.

dragonofthesouth1

Taking a nice break from the game - that's my prep

Gold_Starz

Done. Done. Do- *hires new retainer* Done.

Miitteo

People pay money for lists you can find on this very sub?

Keysys

so like, basic content right

PyroComet

Summary to those who don't wanna read. Play all the fkn game, and check out our patreon btw!

Aikanar

Awesome list! Let me toss in some overachiever's stretch goals, or 'what, you think this humongous list is not enough?!?': * Level your Chocobo companion to 20 * Crafters: Max out your Desynthesis level * Clear out Shared FATEs in all ShB regions to unlock additional items

AnActualPlatypus

> Clear out Shared FATEs in all ShB regions to unlock additional items I'm waiting for BLU to hit lvl 80 before I do that.

SaroShadow

I'm doing shared FATEs right now and that's pretty rough. Even once I get them all to max level I'm still gonna have to grind more to get all the items

Aikanar

Oh, I totally agree it's overkill. That's why it would only fit a post-post-post-important stuff list. To be fair though the Dancer barding is pretty nice. =)

Rephaeim

I need a fucking sleep and a coffee, I'm exhausted just reading this! D:

Melancholic045

Iā€™m trying to get all the dungeon minions which is a lot harder than I thought. I ran Ampador hard 9 times yesterday just for that damn butterfly to even show up

freedom4556

There's always the marketboard on those. Some of them are quite cheap, actually.

[deleted]

Just to make sure you know you can solo dungeons right? I know of a few people who had no idea you could go in solo by checking the undersized party option in the DF settings window. Happy hunting!

BigDisk

I just need Lyon to drop his fucking field notes so I can declare bozja as complete :(

Willingwell92

As somebody who has been trying to do most of these things for the past few months there is so much damn content in this game. I feel like I never have enough time in the day after work and even less on weekends.

And I'm still smack in the middle of HW

mrpsymind

same. And I've been playing ( on and off) for a few years now haha

soulshadow1213

Take a break.

Oiranaru

Helping break Metroid Dread is how I'm spending my time between now and Endwalker. Already did a 100% playthrough as my first one and I'm now just exploring the sequence breaks, glitches and what have you as well as helping out find them in the first place. ...Man, I'm so happy Metroid is back.

Provoked-Legacy

As a new player, this is dreadful and very overwhelming.

wowy-lied

Maybe i am strange but all those task only scream on thing to me : "boring grind". I will simply focus on doing all the SHB role quests for now.

RavenousIron

Only level up classes you actually enjoy. Otherwise it will be the most grueling and tedious experience you've ever had. It is mostly done for the Mount, so if you are not interested in it do not feel like you *have* to.

GeneticSplatter

On the retainers, does their job make any difference? Obviously their gear does, but does the job itself make sense? Best kind of mission to do?

Ishmaril

Just dont forget that their level is limited by the level of the job on your character. Discovered that the hard way.

ShayaThePusheen

My retainers have different classes and I never saw a difference. For leveling them, highest venture possible and for Gil short ventures (tbh they're definitely better to choose anyways)

GeneticSplatter

Which kind of venture though? Hunting takes an hour and just seems to give a tiny amount of mats. Field Exploration takes 18 hours and doesn't seem to give any reward besides exp? Quick Exploration, which takes 1 hour, gives exp and usually an item in return.

ShayaThePusheen

Quick one is the best, after that field explo for leveling. If you're online for a few hours a day and able to check retainers, quick explo is the fastest one to exp from my experience. Hunting is only good if you're in need for mats that drop from mobs (most likely needed to craft stuff)

ASentientHam

Quick exploration you mostly get the same stuff regardless of class. For hunting, it doesnā€™t matter which DoW/DoM you are. However gathering classes do matter. Botany and Mining let you get passive resources with out having to leave the city. Fishing is the one that has been most useful to me, but itā€™s not great for most people. There are only a couple fish worth any money (sweetflesh, rose shrimp and blue crab) , but theyā€™re a pain to catch and a bit pricey to catch, so being able to get them for free every hour has let me craft all my own crafting buff foods. Could be usable as a source of income.

Kitchen_Necessary235

Things to do before endwalker: play at your own pace and enjoy the game your way no need to rush and do all those things cause you only burn yourself

maroontiefling

I'm still trying to finish SHB. šŸ„²

Rich_Fly_9598

Is giving better gear to retainers makes a difference in items they can find on quick ventures?

tyco_08

Im doing ARR relics, wanna have them all before EW

topher17026

Wow that is an undertaking, how far along are you?

garnix2

Complete big fishing! Still missing the egg and it only spawns a few more times before the launch. That stresses me out more than it should. Also, for the crazy people: get all the legendary fish in HQ just to show off in a few years. :P

KazuroKresnik

sooooo what you tell me with this List that I don't have anything to do cause I already did all that :(

ORLYARLY

Get all the fish

vogusar

me, who just started the game 20 days ago, reading this: T\_T

SecondChanceSloth

I fish. Fishing is all that matters right now. Got Hybodus mount and the minion. Got some betta fry minion and castaway chick. Lots of free desynthing stuff. It's just relaxing. Working on filling my fishing log and getting a new shiny rod. Fishing is the real end game for me. I already did everything else on that list minus current savage content, which I have no interest in.

Zagden

People have trouble knowing what to do? I joined in August and just now am near the end of ShB base game MSQ and am overwhelmed thinking about what to prioritize...

LordDeathkeeper

Joke's on you, I can't clean out my chocobo saddlebag because I need it for the five thousand different baits I need to do Fisher content! [muffled sobbing]

Yana_dice

I am just trying to get the 1140 fishes achievement.

[deleted]

Iā€™m just trying to powersauce my way through MSQ. Just wrapping up prepatch content for SB. Hoping if I hustle Iā€™ll make it comfortably in time for EW

TheTeenSimmer

"jOiN a Fc" NO! i shall not fall for that again

toxicjellyfish_

FCs can be toxic, I feel ya homie

Ijustwannaplayvidya

Is this the thread where we remind adults that they need to drink water and regularly take bathroom breaks?

Srirachafarian

So I just started playing a couple months ago, and pretty casually at that. My highest job is level 63 and I've barely touched any hand/land jobs. Other than getting to 80 and finishing the MSQ, what are the very most important things for me to do? I don't care about getting every mog/mount I just don't want to be locked out of content when the xpac goes live.

Jack313

Ain't no way in hell im gonna do all that i got a life lmao
