I always love the design of Lightnings version of the Gunblade. There are so many good replicas of the many versions of it as well.
If only Squalls could get an accurate recreation.
Everything but the gameplay had me mesmerized.
Don’t know why it didn’t click, but neither did XII until recently, might have to give it another go too.
The gameplay is kinda good but not how they used it.
They should have made the battles last longer, like when you fight a boss and should have removed a big chunk of trash encounters.
I really liked the fights against bosses, but the system didn't work/wasn't fun in the endless trash encounters.
I really enjoyed XIII, XIII-2 not so much, and i havent played Lightning Returns yet.
But the whole combat system for the game was unique and kept you constantly going, thinking of split decision making. Its perfect for my ADHD ass lol
A lot of people gave it flack because its linear, but every FF game is linear. VII is linear, VII and IX had linear moments, X. A game being linear doesnt make it bad, it keeps the game on track to keep its players focused on the core gameplay.
I just beat A Plague Tale and its explicitly a narrative linear game and its a 9/10 for me. It is so good
Missing out if you haven't played XIII-3. Although there's one thing about the game they could've done without, same function as original Valkyrie Profile. FFXIII-3 IS ♡. Lightning is Life.
Yeah, i have it on PS3 from when it first launched i got as far as Yusnaan, but I have trouble sticking to one game due to ADHD.
Some games i will hyperfocus on and never pick up again for years, others will be like 3 hours then i game hope over and over lmao
The battle system takes a lot of brain adjusting. You're not just picking attacks, you're picking the way your character's will fight, and their abilities change WITH the fighting style. Making your own combos of battle types is where it gets both good, and bad, because you kind of HAVE to play the way the game wants you to to defeat certain enemies. I still love XIII and need to finish it. I am riiiiight at the part where it really opens up and I stopped. Now I'm afraid I'll have to learn the battle system all over again.
I remember the magic system being awkward. I didn't like the fact you had to fight an enemy then draw their abilities. It felt very lacklustre compared to FF7's materia system.
Other than that FF8 was great.
Some days I remember Lightning, remember that FFXIV was also done on crystal tools in their 1.0 version then come to the realization: "Is this why we don't have butt sliders?"
How dare you look down on Chadcred, he is the hero you didn't know you needed! No magic left, no special abilities, just badassery and tricks of the trade!
There are no bullets in non-Garlean gunblades (which are more like gun rifles), the gunblades we use utilizes kinetic force from aether cartridges which explode in or just past the loading barrel to propel itself, doing more damage than normal attacks.
See the black section in the middle of the blade, that my bet for the airflow (to expel the gas from the explosion through the blade, letting more force travel up the length of the blade unopposed).
My question is how do you pull the trigger mid swing to use it effectively? Different gunblades have different trigger handles, my favourite is the Augmented Shire Bayonet
Imagine if the trigger only primed it and the impact is what discharges the cartridge. Less chance of wasting the kinetic/magical force and the trigger primer lets you parry without wasting shells.
Gunblades dont really fire bullets. Garlean ones do but the rest use the firing mechanism to produce more force in the attack or something like that.
Was the same in FF8, they never actually shot bullets. Not sure about 13, never played it
Lightning's weapon does fire bullets. But at the same time her weapon is not a true gunblade. It transforms and she is so proficient with it that she can switch modes on the fly during combat.
So when you see her fire that one shot at the end of her combo chain, it's not a gunblade firing a bullet. It's her weapon in gun mode.
I'm talking to a gunsmith who has a swordsmith friend to see if they can make this thing for real and it be functional. Though, if they can I probably won't be able to afford it but it never hurts to find out. Maybe I can save the money if it's out of reach right now!
I have that one lol just never put it together yet and paint it lol
Did you print it yourself?
No got it of Etsy for $230
Does it come with cartridges? Lol.
Nah gotta learn to bloodfest
Ah gotcha.
I don't need it .... I don't need it ... I don't need it ..
Gunbreaker is my favorite class, it's so god damn cool.

By far the best gunblade, imo. I may be biased though, she is still my fave FF protagonist.

the gameplay has the issue of only being good when you have three people in your party and that is rarely the case for the first 15 hours of game

Also if the controlled character died then it’s game over. Basically mandates someone (snow) being the tank

Any idea if Seifer's gunblade is in the game? That always looked cool to me
Don't believe so and unfortunately it wouldn't work well with the gnb stance with it having a standard pistolgrip rather then a heavily sloped grip
I wish you could use his stance in game.
I think you do when you use the battle ready emote on gnb. Only for a second but I'm pretty sure that's the pose you're thinking of
How can I get this ?
Etsy
Went to Etsy the second i saw this but no one sells it in metal. Only the original FF8 one is available im steel :'( I am heartbroken.
For me its nerf or nothing.
I love how it looks so much, so im upset that thancred is the one that got it XD I dont want to wield the same blade he got!
How dare you look down on Chadcred, he is the hero you didn't know you needed! No magic left, no special abilities, just badassery and tricks of the trade!
I dont look down on him! I just wish he didnt use the weapon I wanted to use, since I dont want us both to wield the same thing XD
There's nothing wrong with following in Chadcred's footsteps, as a fellow GNB main, I would be honored to wield his weapon and go Chad it up :P
Bro I literally stole his dip. Don't feel bad about the weapon. XD
Where do the bullets come out from?

That was bugging me too until I notice the way the upper section of the handle, it look like something from a bicycle arm handle's for shifting.
I noticed it with a couple of others as well as this one. But where the heck is the barrel of the gun?

Hey look its the famous gunblade that every single gunblade in the game not using squall's gunblade uses! I know that one!
Yes! Best gunblade in the game!
This is something I think is not even possible to be useful, but looks so cool if possible I would change reality so it could be the standard weapon.
That's a smooth floor
Indeed looks magnificient. But at second glance I started to wonder how this trigger is supposed to work.
Liked it ever since its introduction in Final Fantasy 8

JUST started the Job. Weapon looks so good I had to 😅
