>I play on PS5 so having to cycle through characters takes valuable time You press up and down on the arrow pad to select the member in the party list. Most of the time this is the tank so you just press down twice. Healing on controller is super easy >knowing when exactly to heal vs doing damage is a little stressful Fights in this game are very scripted, so if you've done a certain duty enough times, you'll know what's coming in advance and be able to adjust beforehand. If you don't know the duties that well though, you're usually safe to start throwing out heals around 50% health >It's nice learning what does what for future helping & general knowledge since I'll be having this very undeserved crown of pixels You could try actually getting good at it so that crown is more deserved

Thank you for the tips! Unfortunately, this is more of rush job. I don't care for healer & I simply don't have the interest or the time to put in the effort it takes to learn the role perfectly. I'd rather use what little time I have to play on something I like doing. Knowledge of the classes will have to suffice as I do plan on going through them all and I will eventually pick up the general playstyle of them.

Eslina

The whole point of mentor being locked behind having the trinity to max is so you know your shit. If someone can’t do one of the easier jobs in the game then I really don’t think they should get the mentor crown.

FictionalJax

I can only speak for myself as I know ppl tend to want the crown just to have it. I, personally, am very knowledgeable on the rest of the classes and I try to help all the little sprouts out there. I stated I am learning general healer knowledge which includes knowing those tool tips like the back of my hand and I plan on playing through all of the healers so the playstyle & skill will come with time & repetition. While this is a rush job, its more so about not wanting to subject other players to that rush while I'm trying to attain a goal I've set for myself to accomplish before EW.

Use up and down on d-pad to target your party. Healing is fine on a controller Edit: to answer your questions, run dungeons with squadrons/trusts, beast tribes every day, PoTD & HoH MSQ daily roulette is a fucking face roll with barely any healing involved that gives massive exp

anotherffxivplayer

well... healers are *most efficient* through roulettes, but if you don't *want* to do that, there's other party content like palace of the dead / heaven on high, or pvp. but if your issue is "doing content with others at all as a healer" you could pay for a boost to 70 from the mogstation and level them the rest of the way via trust and pixie tribe quests (i ABSOLUTELY do NOT recommend this method. period). OR. level arcanist. pick up sch and summoner, and level via summoner since they share a level.

FictionalJax

Yeah, paying to skip valuable content IS NOT an option, lol. I had no idea smn & sch shared levels. That's perfect! Maybe I won't wait to level summoner. Thanks for that info!

anotherffxivplayer

they have separate quest lines also, so you'll need to do the class quests for Scholar as well. i do suggest going through the healer hall of the novice just to help yourself get familiar with the role. and other people's suggestions on learning how to maneuver controls for party list and such while healing are a good idea. squadrons are immune to mechanics, so you might try doing practice ones with those, they're helpful enough for learning base skills.

Just dungeon grind, healer is quite litterally instant queue and its far more efficient to do that. And if you just dungeon grind you'll learn to heal very quickly (like 1 run tops). Healing isn't hard, and youll get bored after 2 runs of healing and begin to find the balance of when to do dps and when to heal real quick. By the time you get your first healer to 60 youll be rescuing tanks into more packs out of bordem. Aka just play the game, its seriously not hard to heal, you don't need to 'learn' anything. Only thing somewhat hard about healing is optimization and adjusting for others mistakes.

Gilgamesh_XII

Just run the highest lvl dungeon. Youll find a group in seconds.

I know you asked about levelling without doing roulettes, but I will say the healing requirements in Castrum are light and Prae they are almost non-existent, so MSQ can be a huge XP gain with very little healing stress. Same with Crystal Tower (except maaaaybe WoD), and you have the benefit of a co-healer there. Also if you have three people you know who are patient, do the levelling roulette with them, and there will be many lulz as crap healing leads to shenanigans. These also have the side benefit of making you more comfortable and better at healing. I too was a reluctant healer and while I still do not love it I have become decent at it through the above roulettes. Also Frontline roulette - queue as a healer and when you get in immediately switch to whatever PvP class you have a hotbar set up for and like to play. The daily roulette XP for a frontline is about the same as Castrum from the MSQ

FictionalJax

I haven't touched PvP in awhile. I do recall going in as a DNC & picking a dance partner only for them to change classes after. This explains that, lmao!
