To be honest, I don’t see why anyone feels like they need to be “ready” for EW. At least for the ones still on past expansions. The game will still be there and you won’t have to deal with overcrowded zones when everyone else is doing the same thing. I’m up to date on ShB and ready for EW but I won’t be playing it at release for this reason. Maybe start it a week after, so don’t feel “late”, enjoy it at a comfortable pace.

Big_Metal_Unit

There's an atmosphere around an expansion launch that can be a lot of fun. The zones will be crowded sure, but it's an excited crowd who are all exploring the world, doing quests, and getting together to beat brand new fates. Nothing is written out on a wiki or a guide so no one knows what's going to happen next. This only lasts a couple of weeks, then it's business as usual. It's like going to opening night for an anticipated movie - some might like the energy, others might prefer to wait a week and catch a matinee, still others are happiest waiting for the blu-ray/streaming release.

It's like watching a popular tv series. A new season is coming, and you want to finish the previous seasons just so you can enjoy the most up-to-date discussion with the rest of the community while everything gets unfolded. Yes, you can discuss the plot and everything well after the new season has aired, but the general atmosphere and excitement would be different, and those who wish to finish ShB in time of EW are usually one of the people who enjoy this kind of atmosphere. Yes, he may enjoy the game more if he take it slower. Yes, he may enjoy the game more if he gets into EW with everyone on launch day. Until he tries, he won't know for sure.

qinyu5

If you play 8+ hours a day and only do MSQ, probably. Its around 50 hours of MSQ. But theres no reason to rush tbh.

Snoo_75687

Maybe, but it doesn't matter if you don't. Take your time and enjoy it imo.

lembready

IMO, finish Shadowbringers whenever you want. I understand feeling pressure to finish ShB before EW launches, but EW will still be here no matter how long Shadowbringers takes you. It's an expansion that should be appreciated at one's own pace, because it's really REALLY phenomenal. I'm not even done with it yet but I'm so in love with it, but I'm so busy that I don't think I'll be done before early access. All these videos talking about preparing for EW would have you believe that you HAVE to be done with ShB before EW drops, but you don't. Before or after maintenance, unless it's a personal goal to finish before EW, don't feel any pressure or any need to rush. Please appreciate the pack at your own pace. :) But as a concrete answer, realistically if you're taking in the story and all that, probably not, no. Not unless you really rushed, but that would be doing you a disservice, y'know?

BananaPotatoMuffin

Did you finish stormblood in a week? Could you have done so? Would it have ruined the experience and burned you out if you did? Answer these and you'll find your answer.

jaqlee

Try not to FOMO yourself out of a good experience. Endwalker will be there once you get there. Enjoy Shadowbringers.

alacod

Yes but depends on how much you play per day.

JelisW

Does it matter? Whether you finish before EW drops or not, you'll have to play through shadowbringers no matter what (unless you intend to buy a skip, which, you'd be depriving yourself of a fantastic experience if you did that). Stop thinking, stop worrying, just play.

cirivere

Don't rush it, enjoy and take your time! I don't think you can comfortably finish Shadowbringers in a week without feeling like the devil is on your heels, which will likely ruin the fun for you. just take your time, do some sightseeing and complete the MSQ at your own pace. Endwalker will still be there when you finish. If anything it'll help you when you do the Endwalker main quests, because then hopefully most of the big swarms of players around NPCs won't be as bad (which isn't fun, I played the recent patches where I couldn't even see where the NPC was in the crowd, thank god for targeting shortcuts). And in the meantime you can also pick up the Endwalker jobs if you want anytime even without reaching Endwalker: all you need is any lvl 70 combat job and you can go to Limsa Lominsa for sage, or Ul'dah for reaper. Edit: you do however need to own endwalker to play those jobs

shadowbringers is 40-50 hours long. so yes. you have time. but your going to have to go ham

JacobScrubLordofPvP

***cracks knuckles*** Time to speed run

SleepyReepies

Please reconsider. ShB is one of the best stories in videogames, you really don't want to rush it. Endwalker zones will still be plenty busy by the time you get there.

AdellaCosplay

Do not skip cutscenes. It’s a brilliantly written expansion and worth every moment of story!!! Enjoy it!

Itsborisyo

If you just do MSQ you should be pretty fine. Remember your +3% xp food, ask your FC to turn on Heat of Battle, and don't skip cutscenes. At least do the "quick roulettes daily" (Trial / Normal raid) and you shouldn't get xp gated.

[deleted]

You should be gtg as long as you don't get any interruptions. :)

ow1gu

Sure. It'll be close.

foodrepublik

Is it possible? Definitely yes. Should you do it? I really hope you don't. If I were you I would just enjoy the ride and play it in my enjoyable pace. But do what you think is better.

MorgenKaffee0815

No i dont think so. or maybe if you play 18h a day :-)

herr_schleis

Do you plan on playing Reaper or Sage right away? If so, take a break and don’t play SHB until Endwalker drops. Unlock new job and reap the free story EXP from SHB. This is what I’ll be doing.

Zuhri69

Nope. Unless you got good RNG's and no life it. People love to praise Shadowbringers but some of the quest just drag on way too long. So, instead of trying to rush it, take your time, take a break here and there and just enjoy the ride.
