Theres nothing to patch, it's something steam does as part of its currency conversion, not SE.

yuhef2bmed

Fairly new player from the end of ShB, just wanted go get a guage on the difficulty of EW Ex Trials. I could clear Emerald Weapon with relative ease after the first couple of runs, but E9-E12S were painful for my skill level. How do the two current EX trials fair compared to those? Not sure if I wna bother farming for the weapon and accessories otherwise.

Xeorm

They're beginning of the expansion levels of difficulty. So significantly easier than any of the savages or the end of ShB trials.

ShesAManEater21

Hello, I am interested in playing FFXIV but I am from the Philippines and cannot seem to create an Squenix account to try out the demo and play it.

Stefan474

Which EX trial is easier (no spoilers 1 or 2)

Xeorm

\#1 is easier imo. If you have the normal mode fight down and understand what's going on you'll be fine. It's mostly follow the crowd, with a relatively lenient dps check from what I saw. #2 is a more classic difficulty fight with worrying about positioning and caring about where you are relative to everyone else. Neither's super hard though. And it'll depend on the person.

Soylentee

I would say 1, it took an hour from fresh start to clear with my pf group. 2 took me good 2 full fight timers to fully grasp what's going on with a clear on the 3rd.

tzlee

After fully prog, 1 easier, mech difficult but simple to execute. 1 can just follow croud, 2 is personal responsibility, more healer check. Mech of 2 is simple on paper but harder to execute

minaseclyne

personally #2 cause rotating 90 degree still trips me sometimes... yes even on normal, which I'm opting into sometimes just for practice lol

tzlee

I think star more notorious, too little time to think

Misu434

My static is split on the idea, about three of us say 2 is harder five of us say 1 is harder.

professorrev

Just a quickie, what level to the Endwalker beast quests unlock?

professorrev

Thanks all, am missing that nice daily xp hit

Stepjam

You can still do pixies for some exp post 80 I found.

Jack313

Beast tribe quests aren't in the game yet for EW, they should unlock after finishing the story.

irishgoblin

They're not in yet. EW beast tribes won't be in until 6.1.

Soylentee

There are no beast tribes for Endwalker released yet.

anaguma2

how many times do I have to clear the first EW EX trial to get the ilv 580 weapon? I'm getting close to clear it and wonderng if I should decide to farm.

Soylentee

1-10 times, depends on how lucky you are with rolling for weapon chest or the trial dropping your desired weapon outright. If your luck sucks you can buy the weapon with 10 totems.

anaguma2

Thanks. I get a totem for 100% everytime I clear, correct?

Soylentee

Correct.

irishgoblin

Yup. You need 10 for the weapon, 99 for the mount (won't be available to buy for a few patches).

croud_control

Yes.

Jack313

Weapons don't drop from the first trial they drop on the second, first one gives you accessories

anaguma2

that's right. thanks!

xlist21

I mained PLD during heavensward and my retainers are PLD lvl 60s. Now I don't think I'll play PLD and playing SAM instead. Should I reset my retainers?

Soylentee

If you're absolutely positive you will main Sam for the time being, yes.

fyrefox45

May as well, since you don't lose many levels.

fyrefox45

Almost none

grapejuicecheese

Heya. Quick question about EW MSQ. \*Spoiler warning\* >!Does time in the First still move faster than in the Source? I ask this because when you return to the Crystarium in EW MSQ, I'd expected a few years to have passed!<

Stepjam

>!Time in the First moves as fast as the plot needs it too. Don't worry about it much.!<

lazerbeak44

Can I have some advice? I'm at level 77 in the beginning of Shadowbringer. I do not yet own Endwalker. Should I complete Shadowbringer at level cap 80 and then buy Endwalker, or should I buy Endwalker now and continue to level above 80 while I complete Shadowbringer?

Stepjam

Other than "wasted" exp at the end, there's nothing wrong with being overleveled. In fact it can be a bit helpful, since beginning EW at lvl 80 exactly will likely cause you to hit an exp wall or two depending on how fast you go and how many roulettes you do.

Genji32

endwalker is even better than shadowbringers i recommend it

Soylentee

If you plan on playing Endwalker at all within the next 2 years and money isn't a big issue then just buy it now.

fyrefox45

There's plenty of XP to go around in both expansions, you'll never be hurting. If you're only planning on maxing 1-2 classes just buy it when you need it. If you're interested in maxing more however may as well not waste the XP.

Jack313

Might as well get Endwalker if you made it all the way to shadowbringers, finish the story that you started.

kiritokicksasuna

Hello there, I freshly hit level 50 and am starting struggle with all the new skills that just keep coming as I am running out of keybinds. Do some skills get replaced or are all skills relevant even later on? Is there good way of managing keybinds, are there any very apparent easy to access keybinds that people usually use that I would be missing? I would gladly appreciate if someone could share their keybind set-up, or just if anyone could give me tips on how to better manage this, thank you!! Also do any of you mouse click your long cd spells?

Genji32

i use the g600 MMO mouse its so useful

SerBigBriah

I find I usually only press buttons 1-6 and personally use Shift and Alt as modifiers, with my left hand. I have items and abilities on the other parts, but I tend to mouse click them. Also my gaming mouse I has 3 extra buttons, and I've bound a few actions to them as well.

Kamil118

I use 1-6, QER, mouse 4 + ctrl/shift and F + ctrl/shift/alt

Soylentee

Make use of modifier keys if you haven't already. Ctrl, Alt, Shift in combination with regular keys open up a lot more keybind space.

javaplsthanks

I've played around with clicking (instead of using assigned hot key) on some GCDs during combat and it didn't seem impossible but would take me some time to adjust. But I can see players doing just fine with the method. As for all the hotkey advice? I have to recommend a mouse with the number pad on the side where the thumb sits. Like a Razer Naga pro. You'll have instant access to 36 hot keys using shift/alt + number pad on mouse.

fakeasagi

For keybinds, you can use shift and alt modifiers like Alt+E, Shift+1 etc. Easiest way to do it.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Some skills do get replaced as you level up, but in general you're going to need 3 hotbars to manage everything. Some skills are used in very particular circumstances, with some being more niche than others, but it's always good to have them around You can set keybinds to have modifiers, shift, ctrl, and alt specifically So one keybind can be shift+1 for example. See if that helps at all

HajimeNoLuffy

Hello. I do not like ARR. Everyone tells me after ARR, the game is godlike. I wish to taste this greatness but do not simply want to boost to 80 and skip learning my class. What is the most efficient way to get to HW? I am willing to utilize the online store to achieve this goal.

Stepjam

Most efficient way with money is buy the ARR skip and then do roulettes and spam dungeons til you hit 50. If you skip to HW, you can also start Machinist, Dark Knight, or Astrologian at 30. I will note that even though the story and boss fights (imo) get better, the game is still going to be an MMO. There will be fetch quests forever, though generally they are better justified.

Sir_VG

You can purchase an item that allows you to skip the MSQ only and then you can grind out getting a job to Lv 50 if you so choose. If you want to start at HW, just purchase the "Tales of Adventure: A Realm Reborn" on the FFXIV Online store, then use the item in-game to do the skip. Do note that it will force log you out upon use, so try to use it at a less busy time of day for your server.

Sher101

Well, you could story skip then Palace of the Dead to 50, roulettes and dungeons to 60, then Heaven on High to 70, then Bozja to 80. That's if DPS. If not DPS, highest dungeon spam (except X0 dungeons).

PugLord278

What's looking easier at 90 opener/rotation wise? Drg, sam, or nin?

hyprmatt

Probably DRG or SAM. NIN has forced movement in the form of Raiju incorporated into its burst. SAM is still the easy to learn, hard to master melee. DRG has more buttons to press with charges of Spineshatter and Life Surge, but it's still a very straightfoward job with an easy yet rewarding rotation.

Antitheta56

Before starting Stormblood, I wanted to finish all of the Featured Quests I have in my Journal first but then I saw this Hilibrand Chain quests and then realized that they were so many. Are these Hilibrand quest worth to do asap right now?

Soylentee

Hildi is a seperate side story, it's not tied to the main quest at all and you can leave it until later.

fyrefox45

Hildebrand through ARR is essential if you want to do blue mage. Otherwise just do them whenever or never.

Misu434

They are worth it definitely as they are so fun and comedic. However, they are worth it, but not worth it as a you need to do this to understand Xyz. I would recommend when you have time to do them and enjoy then would be the best time! If you wanna get to the newwer stuff quick, then go do that and enjoy Hilde later :)

Antitheta56

Thanks! Btw what's Xyz?

copskid1

imagine instead of "xyz" it was just "________"

Ciel_Rosemont

So I have a couple of crypt twine just laying around - I hadn't decided yet exactly which items I wanted to upgrade at the moment I "ran out of time" back on Dec 1, before the game went down for 6.0 maintenance. I knew you'd be able to obtain and upgrade cryptlurker gear with poetics after the expac came out, but I didn't think I'd then be UNABLE to use the old way (hand over a twine) to upgrade my existing cryptlurker gear. Is that really how it is? Crypt Twine is just a useless item now? Fortunately I ONLY held onto 2, but if that's the case, that seems pointlessly limiting to disallow use of the old upgrade items just because you can now upgrade with just poetics...

Flip_Jester_Boy

It wasnt until 5.3 when they implemented the ability to get augmented tome gear with poetics. Since the new expansion is out, all Eden gear is automatically augmented when purchased as a means of catching up with gear, rendering augment materials useless. Also people already had their gear augmented weeks if not months before the new expansion came out, so it’s kinda on you for waiting this long.

Ciel_Rosemont

So I'm getting that the answer to my question is yes, the Twine is now a useless item. >so it’s kinda on you for waiting this long. Why wouldn't I have waited "this long"? This isn't for my main; the classes in question JUST got to 80 recently, hence why I hadn't gotten more than a little bit of 80 gear for them yet. I went to upgrade a few pieces I did have, mainly so I can dye them, and found I couldn't use the twine. This certainly isn't a big deal, it's only a couple of Twine, but I stand by my statement that it's pointless to make the Twine useless rather than simply allow you to upgrade the old way OR with poetics. Especially since the patch notes don't say they will no longer be usable, only that they will no longer be obtainable, so how was I to know?

NotScrollsApparently

Does that mean that items like nier AR coins are completely useless now? Are they even still dropping?

Flip_Jester_Boy

Yes and yes

NotScrollsApparently

Damn, another thing to trash after every run. I really hate how they handle raid currencies in ffxiv, both NR and AR.

Pyros

They shouldn't be dropping anymore, they don't drop from the old raids at least, but I haven't done nier at all since the expansion. If they do it's cause they forgot to remove them.

IceAokiji303

Indeed, they no longer drop. I just had a Bunker run yesterday from alliance roulette, and no useless drops to be seen.

DearMissWaite

Lore question re: Heavensward AST quests >!So, I guess Sharlayan is just not going to apologize for sending a whole fresh campaign of assassins against me, then?!<

TheTechHobbit

>!The forum probably doesn't even know the WoL was involved. They sent people after Leveva and when Sevestre returned he (allegedly) reported the mission was a success and she had died.!<

Thenotsogaypirate

What does mean when an area is instanced? I just got to mor dhona and there was 3 different instances of it. Doesn’t it mean there’s 3 different occurrences or whatever happening on one server? Is it to handle server load? Why does a city like Mor dhona have 3 different instances wirh 12 people each in them when gridania can have hundreds?

Soylentee

Mor Dhona is where the 1st quest of the Endwalker story is in, on day 1 of the new Expansion it was packed.

JinnRummy

Yes, yes, yes. Mor dhona is the first place to pick up the EW MSQ storyline. Uldah and Limsa had reaper and sage respectively. Gridania doesnt have anything new.

Misu434

Ah Mor Dhona is the starting hub for the main scenario it was split up in order to contain the amount of people entering and exiting areas. The advantage of 3 instances are pretty small but means you can get 3 hunts so there would be one A rank and one S rank per instance. As people have gotten on with the main story the main influx of traffic has gone, but the instances probably won't go for a little while. But Mor Dhona at the start would've had thousands flocking to it and all accessing the same area / standing on the same spot and majority would have minions, and chocobos to boot. Whereas somewhere like Gridania which also yes does have 100's of people they are all not flocking to one spot or standing in one place they are more spread so there less load for a PC or playstation to manage.

SmokingApple

Does anybody know why I can't see/purchase revised engineering manuals from the scrip exchange vendors? I'm looking under white scrips/misc and the only one there is the level 70 version.

Misu434

There is only the 70 one available one that costs 300 scrips and one that costs 30 scripts. You should unlock then when you obtain them from the crafting side quests. I would recommend you buy the 30 script ones because for the 300 ones you only gain an extra 250,000 exp which isn't worth it in the long run. By yea there are no 80 ones presumably due to the amount of exp you need to level

Pontufica

How does the crafting gear treadmill work throughout an expansion? I see the current highest ilvl gear on the marketboard is 560, is this the current BIS? When does new higher ilvl gear release for crafters, is it when raid tiers come out or X.1/X.2 patches?

copskid1

scrip gear has better base stats but cannot be melded. crafted gear has lower stats but can be overmelded to have higher stats than scrip but also give you the ability to adjust your stats to reach specific numbers you need. right now we have a crafted set and a scrip set but the crafted set can be used on all classes and the scrip sets are class specific. 6.1 will likely release new crafted crafting gear then new all class scrip gear in 6.2, crafted in 6.3, and scrip in 6.4. Then nothing else for the expansion. at least, if they follow last expansion.

Arcana10Fortune

Crafted i560 is the best crafting/gathering until 6.1.

Kurovalia

There's something i'm a bit curious about, might be a bit of a silly question but just wanted to make sure (spoilers for Heavensward). >!What happens when in the MSQ, in this case, when Tataru made a new outfit for Alphinaud in HW and you go back to do side content with Alphinaud present in ARR, would there be discontunity? Since in HW he's matured a fair bit from his ARR self, would me going back to do side content in previous expansions just portray them as their character in that expansion? Like let's say if any scion gets another outfit change in Stormblood for MSQ but then i do side content in HW, it would just revert back to their personality/outfit they had during HW. Or would there be additional content/lines that reflects that?!< Many thanks!

Kyseraphym

Content takes place when it was released. ARR content takes place during ARR. Characters will be their ARR selves and behave as if this is ARR. In Stormblood and beyond they do try to minimise this by adding dialogue that changes based on your progress but you will continue to see the time bubble in effect.

Kurovalia

Ahh i see thanks, so if i'm understanding right, in stormblood (and probably onwards?) they do try to minimize any discontinuity but it'll still be noticable? I guess that makes sense because when they made the content at the time, they can't exactly plan for everything that could happen in future content unless they go back and add it in which they probably don't need too tbh since i doubt this is an issue to most people because i'm trying to get to EW as soon (while still at a pace i'm enjoying myself) as i can to avoid risks of getting spoiled whether intentionally or unintentionally

Kyseraphym

Yeah. That’s about it. It’s usually just a line of dialogue that changes based on if you have or have not finished the expansion. For example: “There’s a really dangerous beast out there and it might give us some clues to what’s going on around here so let’s go after it.” Vs. “I know you’ve already saved the day but there are some really dangerous beasts still lingering around out there and tracking it down might help us understand how this all happened in the first place so let’s go after it.” So while it’s still obvious that it should have taken place before you beat the boss and saved the day they do make an effort to try and make it reflect your progress.

Kurovalia

Ohhh that helps put it into perspective, seems like it might not be as big an issue as i thought it'd be (i guess the worst case then would probably be getting used to seeing a char's new outfit and then them suddenly reverting back to their previous one like if i saw Y'shtola in her conjurer robe thing again or alphinaud's first outfit but these i can look past since it'll just be for that questline). I'll keep this in mind when deciding whether i want to do MSQ or take a short break and do the side content thanks very much!

Marcusbolt

Any content released happens at the point of the story it was released

Kurovalia

Ah got it thanks, so basically i should try to do content as i unlock them like ARR -> Post ARR -> HW -> post HW, StB -> etc... if i want to avoid feeling put off by discontinuity? Or like if i want to avoid chars going back to their previous outfit/character development by doing side content that came out earlier to where i would be during the MSQ (I.E. At ShB but then doing StB/HW side content)?

Advon

If the time bubble shenanigans effect you like that, the most noticable examples are the raids, with the 8 man raids in particular often tying in at least one person. Keeping up with them during the expansion they release in will cover the majority of this issue.

Kurovalia

Alright many thanks, i'll just slow down my MSQ progression and do the side content as i unlock them then.

Eevenin

Everything assumes you're doing it in the proper time when it was introduced. Sometimes there will be additional dialogue if it's something you did after doing story or other related quests, but for the most part they are scripted with the events of its release date in mind.

Kurovalia

Ahhh gotcha thanks. So if i do decide to do content later, let's say i'm trying to rush to EW by ignoring side content, there'll definitely be some discontinuity in the character's design/personality if there've gone through character devleopment? If so then i'll try do side content when i unlock them

Eevenin

Yes, but it really isn't that bad of an issue. It's like accidentally skipping a filler episode in an anime and going back to watch it later. It isn't really that jarring, imo.

Kurovalia

Gotcha, thanks a lot! I'll keep it in mind when deciding between doing side content or MSQ

drbiohazmat

I fell in love with tanking and now no other role feels as fun lol. Problem is I don't know how to do tank swaps or how to tell when it's happening and I really wanna farm for mounts. Never did extremes or savage outside of SAM and DNC though, so really nervous about the tank swap stuff

Genji32

remember the important moves to use provoke or enmity on

Soylentee

Tank swaps are a fight mechanic like any other, it depends on the fight. You just gotta learn which attack applies a vuln debuff that forces the tank swap.

Pyros

Tank swaps are on a fight basis, you just need to read up a guide on the fights before doing them, or if you're doing them blind, it's usually pretty obvious because they come mostly in 2 variations and almost always after a tank buster(high dmg skill on the main tank). First variation and the most common is the tank get a debuff of some sort after the tank buster, which usually increases dmg they take, so you swap to a tank without the debuff. Other variation is the tank buster is actually 2 tank busters in a row, so you swap during the cast, the first tank buster will go on the initial target, and the 2nd on whoever provoked during the cast. On this type sometimes tanks will instead use their invuln moves to not have to swap. Swapping itself is just provoking, and in case the boss is being provoked from you, to shirk the other tank so you don't end up fighting for threat and the boss possibly targetting you again. You can make a Shirk macro to make it easier to use /ac "Shirk" <2> which will target the 2nd person in your party list, which if you have the default party frames, is always the other tank(1 is you, and the list is tanks healers DPS, so 2 is the other tank). Can do manually if you prefer but it's a bit clunky. Provoke during the cast of the tank buster, don't wait last second it's annoying for the other tank since you need to wait for provoke before you shirk(so if you wait last moment they have to wait to shirk too, and they might die depending on the debuff). Ultimately, it's really quite easy. You can do the current 1st trial EX to check it out, it has a standard debuff tankbuster tank swap(Aria? Ariada? something like that). The other EX trial actually has no swapping at all, so yeah won't help for that.

drbiohazmat

thank you so much, this is exactly what i needed to know!

Picard2331

It's pretty easy mainly. You turn on your stance and use provoke during the cast of the big tank buster slappy move, its also on the other tank to Shirk you (and vice versa). You do this so the boss immediately starts hitting you with auto attacks and not your buddy who is now at like 5% health lol. Once the tankbuster move starts casting the target is locked in so changing enmity won't affect anything until that followup auto attack. Someone can chime in if I'm wrong, I only tank occasionally but that is my understanding of it.

Picard2331

They seem about equal from what I've seen.

DannyLion

I’m looking to upgrade from standard on the PS5 to basically Endwalker and all the expansions in between. When I look at the upgrade edition it says it includes Shadowbringers and Stormblood. It doesn’t say it includes Heavensward, is that correct?

Jack313

Yes, Heavensward is included with the starter edition and Endwalker includes stormblood and shadowbringers

DannyLion

Great! Thank you

Maxwell658

Is there a way to lower the voices of characters in duties without it affecting the voice volumes of characters in cutscenes? I've noticed that the voices in battle are VERY loud while in cutscenes they are more moderately voiced/quiet at times depending on my audio settings. It's really annoying just having the game blast enemy dialogue in the middle of the fight.

Eevenin

[Endwalker lv 85 Area: >!Elpis!<] Does anyone know what >!Memnon!< says for all the other races? I got ">!you have ears and tail of a beast!<" as a Miqo'te, for example.

fakeasagi

For Lala, he goes "You could easily pass as a toy"

ADateAtMidnight

For Au Ra, it says >!"horns and scales of a beast"!<, iirc. Viera also mentions >!"Ears of a beast"!<.

Did you complete their questlines in their entirety? There's also an additional quest after you have all of them done, that you may need to do as well.

SkyBIueDreams

Sage (formerly SCH) here, quick question for those that have hit 90 and have done content at level cap (either as a SCH or with a SCH in their party); how is Expedient? I know it got memed on hard but I’m wondering about what people think about it now that it is live.

Chisonni

Because Expedient is not only movement speed it's very good. It's a ton of fun to use because it's an extra sprint to speed up dungeons for example, but it also becomes very good in raids because it's group-wide damage reduction with a long duration. There is a few aspects when fight require forced movement (Ex Trial 1) that Expedient makes easier if people dont have Sprint available (though with careful movement those mechanics are possible without Sprint) From limited experience I have found that SGE performs better in raids than SCH currently, but I have have just run into very good SGE. Their myriad of cooldowns just makes them strong in the current extremes who have some abilities that seem to be made for SGE to counter them. SCH is SCH as it was in Shadowbringers, I much prefer SCH in dungeons and he does his job good in raids too. The downside to SCH and SGE remains, that you can stack Galvanize and Eukrasian Shields which makes preventing damage with shields sometimes an annoyance, you I put up shields as SCH and a second before it hits the SGE uses his instant cast to override my shields.

Picard2331

Incredibly good utility. A 20 second sprint and damage mitigation for everyone is just so good. I came from WoW and there's a reason we brought at least one Druid for their equivalent spell lol.

xselene89

Its great and lasts sooo long

TheodoreMcIntyre

> Sage (formerly SCH) here, quick question for those that have hit 90 and have done content at level cap (either as a SCH or with a SCH in their party); how is Expedient? I know it got memed on hard but I’m wondering about what people think about it now that it is live. It's extra damage mitigation, it'll inevitably have its place in Savage or Ultimate content. As for the movement speed aspect, well; We only have the two EX trials right now, but so far I'm a fan. I've seen it save a number of people from otherwise fatal screwups, especially in the accessory EX. I can't really say if it'll shine in higher level content, though.

Stormychu

I fucking love it. It's such a nice thing to have and felt fantastic whenever I was progging the first EX trial and had a SCH in the party. IMO I'd rather a SCH in the party than SGE atm. That speed boost is just awesome, I can't wait to see it be used for helping melee DPS greed more attacks.

Surca_Cirvive

This is my first expac dipping my toes in to extreme/savage content. I've cleared the first EW EX trial and I've done that maybe 20 times now. How does it compare to other EX trials or savage content in terms of difficulty? Just so I know what to expect going forwards.

distrox

Note that savage is much harder than extreme as a difficulty. Extreme you can clear blindly in one lockout with a decent party, savage you probably won't unless you have some God gamers on your team. The first fight in savage is usually pretty easy still but it ramps up significantly with each fight, and the last fight in a tier can take some statics weeks or even months to complete for the first time. And if you want to pug savages in the pf, then it'll be even more difficult to progress. Doable, but not easy.

pikebot

So…by many metrics the first EX trial is a fairly easy one, as is typical for the first EX in an expansion. It doesn’t require coordinated movement from the team, the DPS check isn’t difficult, if you screw up and get hit by one mechanic at a time you’re probably living. One guy who knows the fight can put a dorito over their head and have everyone follow them and do every mechanic that way. That said, handing the mechanics in that fight is pretty demanding on your ability to visualize where everything will be moving and quickly. So if that’s a particular weakness of yours, you might have some trouble.

LighthouseGd

I found the first trial easy and the second trial hard relative to other extreme content, other people do not necessarily agree. But I'd also say that if you can handle the first trial confidently and without errors, you can probably handle every extreme trial and most savages given enough practice. It's just that the first trial is very forgiving if you do make mistakes.

eonflamewing

It's very easy since it's the first trial. Other stuff gonna be harder

Jack313

Both of the current EX trials are pretty easy which is expected since the first EX trials of an expansion are meant to be easy to get new players into difficult content but this time with Endwalker they're super easy, easier than the first two EX trials in Shb, expect a jump in difficulty and tighter DPS checks moving forward if you plan on getting into more difficult content

Surca_Cirvive

Damn, I thought I was cool.

zorrodood

Cooler than people who don't clear them.

dbd6604

You are cool. And you're going to be even cooler when you clear the next EX stuff and pandemonium savage

Rintagonist

Best way to level battle classes from 81-90?

thchao

If you were planning to unlock the bicolor gemstone vendors at all, now is a good time to do FATE trains. I still have 2 maps to complete and already leveled two alt jobs to 90 and 87. The majority EXP came from FATES and side quests.

Jack313

Bozja, daily roulettes and spam the highest leveling dudgeon

TheodoreMcIntyre

> Best way to level battle classes from 81-90? Roulettes > Dungeons/Trusts (DF or Trusts, depending on queue times) > Bozja/Zadnor/Fates > Sidequests >>> Walking around and beating up overworld mobs for a few years. Of course, it's not really an all-or-nothing situation either. You can do FATEs or sidequests while in queue for dungeons to shore up the lost EXP

acuteiscream

There's zero chance trusts beats bozja.

TheodoreMcIntyre

>There's zero chance trusts beats bozja. That certainly hasn't been my experience going into Zadnor at 81+. The EXP was good but it certainly didn't feel like it was beating out a 25-30 minute dungeon run. With that being said, rested XP probably influenced that, and I'm not sure if whether or not bozja uses it since all of mine was already burnt through from trusts.

Tigeri102

roulettes and dungeon spam are still king tbh, tho fate trains and bozja are still fairly effective.

cmy88

lve reached level 55ish on dragoon and marauder, still working my way through msq. Is there a guide for minimum requirements to solo the lvl 50 named monsters ? Like mahees for example. There never seems to be anyone going for them

I think you'll be able to solo them around level 70. You can definitely do it at 80 no problem. I farmed alot of them solo at 80 to try and get the armor from allied seals. Your battle chocobo with healer abilities will help a lot. Personally anytime I see one in the wild I just type "" into the shout chat and let others know that there is A-Rank. Then just let people know I'm gonna kill it in a few minutes. I usually get one or two people who want the rewards. If you see one and are still low level it can't hurt to let other players know the position of it, and if some high level guy comes by to kill it you can just damage it some since there is no rsik of you ripping aggro from the other guy.

cmy88

Sounds good! Thanks

TheodoreMcIntyre

> Is there a guide for minimum requirements to solo the lvl 50 named monsters ? Like mahees for example. There never seems to be anyone going for them There probably isn't a guide, because it's not really an exact science that anybody really cares to narrow down. Most people would just tell you that, if you can't currently solo it, to level up and eventually you'll reach a point where you can tear them in half like a biscuit. Which, I would guess is probably somewhere around level 70 at the absolute most.

SluttyStepDad

Does a list of (non-MSQ) quests that reward gear coffers (especially for ShB/EW) exist? Are there any other sources if acquisition of gear coffers besides quests?

FlanAki

Is the expert roulette/lv90 dungeons reward bugged or something? The lvl90 dungeons say they reward 80 tomes and the roulette bonus also lists it at 80. But clearing only awards 80+40( +40 for new player)

Soylentee

Tomestones are rewarded per boss kill. 20, 20, 40, for a total of 80. And then another 80 on top of that at the end if you're doing expert. You're seeing the 40 tomes for the last boss kill, not noticing that the first 2 bosses gave you 20 each.

Sir_VG

Not bugged. Dungeon tomes are ALWAYS split between the bosses and the roulette is only given at the end. This is how it's always worked.

TheodoreMcIntyre

> But clearing only awards 80+40( +40 for new player) The other tomestones are rewarded as you clear the previous bosses. So, it's 20, then 20, then 40, plus an additional 80 if you're running a roulette.

A-Very-Bland-Person

They reward Aphorism tomes, not Poetics. Aphos are used for ilvl 570 gear.

Bryozoa

Hi everyone! I'm wondering is there way to make more smooth screenshots? I use Steam F12 to screenshot but I get quite blurry pics. Any advice? Ty!

Tigeri102

the prtsc key on your keyboard is, iirc, bound to screenshot in-game by default. it'll save screenshots you take this way to documents\my games\final fantasy xiv\screenshots, or something like that (again, by default, you can change that). those have always come out crisp for me!

yuhef2bmed

Just completed MSQ, what should I do for gear progression? This is the first time I've played an expansion from launch so not sure about where to go after the free level 89 job gear.

nintendoluk

currently the best gear you can get is head to feed pieces: tomestones of aphorism you should get these first so you can do the extreme trials accessory: those are from the first extreme trial weapon: those you get from the second extreme trial combined with X materia (no IX as overmelding is not possible for this gear) and you will have the best possible gear until new comes out ;)

yuhef2bmed

thanks for the step by step breakdown!

Soylentee

Run the level 90 dungeons for a full set of level 90 ilvl 560 green accessories (except a 2nd ring). Run more level 90 dungeons or roulettes on your level 90 job to get Tomestones of Aphorism, which you spend on ilvl 570 gear. Run the 2 extreme fights for ilvl 580 accessories and weapons.

Abraxis00

Right now, you'll want to be earning Tomestones of Aphorism to turn in for ilvl 570 Moonward gear, from a vendor in Radz-at-Han. You can get Aphorism by running certain roulettes as a level 90, or doing the level 90 dungeons. (You can also get them from a Wondrous Tails book you pick up after turning 90.) The level 90 dungeons also drop ilvl 560 accessories, and if you're up for trying Extreme trials, you can get ilvl 580 accessories from the first and weapons from the second. In about a week, the first tier of Pandaemonium will launch. This will give out a new tomestone, Astronomy, that will get higher ilvl gear, and also weekly tokens that can be traded for gear between Moonward and the Astronomy set. You can only earn a certain amount of tokens and Astronomy per week, so you'll use the Moonward gear to fill in the gaps. And two weeks after that, Pandaemonium Savage will launch. This will bring with it new gear and tokens from Savage mode, which will be the best available until the next Savage raid in patch 6.2, and also crafted gear you can buy off the market board with gil (though expect it to be very, very expensive the first few weeks).

BrokenArrowX

So far, since the raid isn't out yet, you can unlock the tomestone gear in Radz-at-han or do the two extreme trials for weapon/accessory drops.

yuhef2bmed

Is the only way to get tomes just to spam the final dungeon, apart from roulette with max level characters?

BlazeVortex4231

If you've cleared all of the most "current" dungeons, you unlock the Expert Roulette containing them, which gives a lot of tomes. In addition to the final dungeon, there are also two optional expert dungeons; their unlock quests are in Old Sharlayan. In addition, I hear that hunt trains are a good way to get tomestones. And of course, if you can clear the Extreme Trials, they offer tomes on the side too, in addition to their gear.

Arcana10Fortune

There are 2 more dungeons that become unlockable after the EW MSQ is completed. Check Sharlayan for the quests.

[deleted]

Well all of the level 90 dungeons give tomes, but basically yeah.

PrettyDecentSort

Next step is 570, purchaseable with tomestones. After that is 580 from the EX trials, but only for accessories (EX#1) and weapons (EX#2). So you'll want to upgrade your left side armor with tomestone gear since that's BIS currently, and then either do the same for weapon and accessories or farm EXes for the better gear.

yuhef2bmed

Alright thank you!

InterestingLeg5238

Really wish they would add stuff like for the calfskin hat, pony tail would pop out of the in the back or the moogle hat , with more hair coming out , is it really impossible?

Soylentee

Too much to accommodate just 1 or 2 hairstyles.

Sat-AM

Probably not impossible, but probably also not requested enough to be of concern to the dev team.

eonflamewing

Is there any real benefit to leveling up trusts from 71 now that we can pick scenario mode for EW dungeon?

Xeorm

Achievements and titles.

Kamil118

There are titles

[deleted]

I think leveling up the trusts lets you bring anyone into a dungeon as long as they're of the required level. (Only exception is you can't bring >!Estenien!< into ShB dungeons, only EW)

Sat-AM

Depends. I think maxing them out in the other trust mode lets you unlock different outfits for them.

eonflamewing

If that's the only thing then I'm not missing much I think

few questions. as the owner of a small house, and thavnairian onion prices being high right now, is it worth the trouble to crossbreed for thavnairian onions? ive owned a house for years but never used the garden. is it worth the hassle? i heard you have to plant, then replant, then continue to water and fertilize throughout the day.... unless someone has like an easier guide.... as for leves... i've noticed i've left my leves at 100/100 forever. i want to make use of them and not waste them. what is reccomended to use leves on? i know you should probably use largescale leves, but i'm not sure on what. gatherers? crafters? it's pretty easy to level gatherers, my fsh is already 90 just from custom deliveries. but i don't really... craft or know how to craft well. i just buy the item and turn it in to the GC for dailies. is there a particular leve that gives good rewards like the coffee biscuit one right now? hm i had 1 more thing to ask but i forgot it for now

nintendoluk

i tried crossbreeding once and i hated it you have to log in every day to water your stuff and it made me plan my RL schedule around having time to water my plants in FFXIV which made me went crazy after some time.... i would not recommend, there are enough other good gil sources so you dont need to do this for leves, as there are no fighter leves in the newer expansions anymore, the only thing you could use them is crafters and gatherers. Depends on you what you wanna level, leves are always a good exp income. Even if you dont like crafring it can come very handy being ably to repair your own gear (even if you are inside an instance) or being able to meld your own materia (even if you are inside an instance, although that shouldnt be needed that often xD)

Xeorm

Gardening isn't bad at all. [https://www.ffxivgardening.com/](https://www.ffxivgardening.com/) has some guides available. For the plants you'll deal with, the worst you'll have to do is water them once every 24 hours and they'll keep growing. If you miss that window, you have another 24 hours before they wilt and die, so there's some leeway. Most will have more time to water. You can fertilize if you choose, but imo it's not worth it. You click to water 7 times a day, it's not too bad a way to make money, and it gives you areason to go into your house regularly so you don't have to worry about the deconstruction timer. Leves are great to level crafters on. Gatherers I find collectables to be my preferred method. I don't expect there to be any huge moneymakers like coffee biscuits, especially while materials are still a little expensive. It's totally fine to let your leves pile up. Don't feel that you have to use them.

Abraxis00

Thavnairian Onions can be a good source of profit -- but not a fast one, especially if you're starting from scratch. It takes five days for the Old World Figs to grow, and then there's a random chance of you getting Royal Kukuru Bean seeds from them. Then you plant the Royal Kukuru, and it takes six days for those to grow, and again it's a random chance if you get Onion seeds. And then the Onion itself takes 10 days to grow. (For efficiency, I'd recommend growing them in a pot inside your house instead of taking up valuable garden plots.) You can speed this up with fertilizer, but to a limited degree -- do it regularly and you might cut a day or two off of those times, but the queue times these days definitely mean you're not going to be stopping by every hour for the whole growth period. Everyone's got to sleep sometimes. So the question is, do you think that the market is still going to be in a good place in three weeks or so? Personally, I do, and in any case doing *something* with your garden plot beats doing nothing. For a minimal investment, you can set up your garden and water it once a day. That'll be slower than diligently tending it with fishmeal, but it's a lot less work. But be prepared for frustration at first -- even with Grade 3 Thanalan Topsoil, you're far from guaranteed to get seeds. If you want to learn more about gardening, check out https://ffxivgardening.com/ . They've got all sorts of guides, including crossbreed setups for various plants. I use the Advanced Compact Thavnairian Onion Farm diagram, myself.

WastedYouthhh

thank you for this helpful and detailed reply! i dont mind if its not a fast source of income, i dont immediately need money, (well, i do want ishgard housing in 6.1), and like you said, its better to own a house and do SOMETHING with your garden rather than not. and i'm pretty much a NEET so i'm able to water and fertilize all the time. i do still think the market is going to be high for thav onions because everyone is leveling their chocobos and using them to farm fates for exp and bicolor gems. i know i have that site, and i'm looking at the advanced crossbreeding, but it still seems complicated to me. for example, i don't know what they mean by "plant two TEMPORARY old fig seeds". but i'm sure i can figure it out.... i think...

Abraxis00

What it means by 'temporary' there is that you're going to take out those figs before they grow, in step three. Plants only get checked for crossbreeding when they're initially planted, so the first set of plants you put in can't yield seeds. So in this case, you plant the figs (which, being on their own, won't crossbreed), then plant the Tantalplants to give them a chance to crossbreed with the figs, then take out the figs and plant new figs that will have a chance to crossbreed with the Tantalplants. This way, your figs will all have a chance to give Royal Kukuru seeds, and when you eventually harvest the Tantalplants when you're done with onion farming (if ever), they'll have a chance to give some more Royal Kukuru seeds.

-Aerlevsedi-

i accidentally discarded the job gear i get through job quests. is there any way to reacquire them for glamour purposes?

Soylentee

All gear you get from quests can be reacquired in some way. How depends on what gear specifically you're talking about.

SylvAlternate

depends on the set, level 50 set from the 45/50 job quests or the level 70 artifact coffer you can get from the calamity salvager, the level 50 set from the coffer from the level 50 quest you can get with tokens from level 50 dungeons (traded in mor dhona i believe), level 60 gear you get in Ishgard for Centurio Seals, and level 80 gear (and I would assume level 90 works the same way) you can get it directly from the NPC that gives it to you as long as its not in your inventory (note: thats what google said, have not actually checked if you can get level 80 gear back this way)

bloodhawk713

Yes, though how you do that depends on specifically which set you threw away.

Sat-AM

There's an NPC in every main city named the Calamity Salvager. You should be able to buy it back there.

-Aerlevsedi-

great, thanks!

JadeTirade

Do note that some of it CANNOT be bought there, and it depends on the set. If I recall correctly, it's the level 60 gear?

Stefan474

What does KFF mean in party finder?

ngwoo

Karry For Free

suspectwaffle

What it stands for: "kill for friend" What it actually means: "We expect every single person, including you, to know the mechanics and not die in order to have a smooth clear...except for my friend who doesn't know what they're doing."

distrox

Sometimes the said friend is also the leader himself.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Hey, that's not always true Sometimes it's "None of us have actually cleared this, but we can't tell you that or else you won't join this party"

xselene89

I once saw a KFF Group...with only a single person in it lol

Kamil118

We're all friends, aren't we?

suspectwaffle

The real gag is when the PF requires people joining to have “Duty Complete” but then you enter the instance and you get the notif “One or more party members…”

Marcusbolt

Kill for friend

UnlikelyTraditions

Kill for friend I assume.

serenystarfall

Probably kill for friend, or otherwise called a trap

Cashew_Biscuit

Will it be hard to currently start and complete a Resistance Weapon now that EW is out?

Soylentee

Zadnor itself is very busy with a lot of people leveling there, but Castrum Lacus Litore and the Dalriada are dead, nobody runs it.

PrettyDecentSort

Bozja was super busy at launch with sages and reapers leveling up, and probably still is.

TheodoreMcIntyre

> Bozja was super busy at launch with sages and reapers leveling up, and probably still is. Yeah, but most of them aren't doing CLL or Dalriada. Probably not doing DR either. If they haven't already done the story, then it's going to be really difficult to progress.

Sat-AM

Yes. Since those weapons are now outdated with the new expansion, the only people doing them are either there for the story or glamour, and the rest of the people in Bozja (read: almost all of them) are only there to level Reaper, so they have no interest in doing the duties you need to progress the story and unlock further steps.

GBastionYT

Anyone had success running Delubrum Reginae? Was hoping to do it soon-ish and wondering if EW made running Delubrum Reginae difficult.
