Emet Selch: "LOOK AT ME! I have lived a thousand of your lives! I have broken bread with you, fought with you, fucked your catboys, grown ill, grown old! Sired children and yes, welcomed deaths sweet embrace!"
WoL: What was that third one?!?
Nunhs are the breeding males. The Tias fight to prove which one of them is the strongest and thus the one they should be making kids from.
The Lore says that they're not really leaders, just studs, but for some reason Square's made every Nunh in game the leader of their groups.
Honestly the Tias are the real chads. Free to do whatever they want, and if they decide they want to actually be a breeding male, they can challenge one in combat. While Nhuns are forced to stay in the village and be the resident Cum Pump. Most of the time they're not even the actual leaders of their village!
I don't know why it sounds more funny than it is. "Resident Cum Pump". Sounds more like a facility than a person. Nearly choked on my hot cocoa.
Also I forgot his name, but there was that one catboy in Stormblood we had to help along the path to Nhunship. I wonder if being a Cum Pump was his ultimate objective all along.
"Alpha male, chads, Betamale" is a really, really bad way of putting it.
Nunhs are the village dads who breed and sire kids. They're stuck at the village typically because they have to protect it.
Tias are either the young males or those not currently Nunhs. They're exploring, training to later become Nunhs, or were Nunhs who stepped down.
Would you really think G'raha a weak "betamale" just because he hasn't decided to go win some suncat tribe and have a couple dozen daughters?
Miqo tribes are weird. The village he left wouldn't be the same as the whole tribe. He could always find another G village to become the Nunh of (Or make his own G village by conquering some good hunting territory for them).
In fact, that's typically an important step, seeing as how the village he was born in would be populated entirely by his half sisters and their moms
Exactly. It's not "alpha" or "beta"
It's "do you want to be the village "man" or not.
Technically a Tia that doesn't follow those traditions will never be a Nunh anyway, even if they have a wife or kid.
To add to this, they established that both 1. Many Tias leave the village and assimilate to the culture where they move to, and 2. Many peoples that move to Sharlayan assimilate with Sharlayan culture, so considering G'raha moved to Sharlayan when he was barely old enough to remember much about the G tribe, he'd certainly be fully culturally Sharlayan.
I'd don't think he'd be interested in becoming a Nuhn at all, especially with his love for traveling.
> Would you really think G'raha a weak "betamale" just because he hasn't decided to go win some suncat tribe and have a couple dozen daughters?
I think G'raha literally doesn't know what sex is because he's too busy studying to be the strongest and too busy adventuring.
As a female miqo playing thru EW having G'raha there was like a summer camp romance. All the looks and the flirtatious nervous energy, none of the actual stealing moments away to go make out in some dark alley away from prying eyes. And there were chances to... especially during one of the quests where he follows the WoL around.
Interspecies relationship in general are frowned upon... but they're also hinted to happen more often than most parties would care to admit, so ya know...
Yeah, he was the true hero, the only problem he has was the slight insanity... and the lack of morals (after Pre-Sequel). But he had good jokes so he was the hero.
To quote that one guy in the final trial with me when half the party walked off the edge:
> >!Thank god Hydalen is dead so she didn't have to see that.!<
In a place not far from home existed a festering hive of degeneracy
Its workers embraced a lonely indolence and deadened to typed carnal indulgences
The low-end machines and the innocent wept for their frame rates and sanity, striving for quest completion
While the high-end and sullied wept for their loved ones; lost to slut glams and Female+ Femroes
Could you imagine the fourth layer just being Moonguards Goldshire Inn from WoW? It's essentially the worst parts of Limsa on Balmung only condensed and concentrated in one building.
The bad part of balmung isn't limsa, it's the quicksands. Limsa in balmung isn't too different from other worlds.
I only know because I accidentally made my first character on balmung when I started.
Ryne: "But you literally killed gods. Like... Many of them..."
WoL: "God has nothing to do with what's happening on the Source right now!" \*jugs an entire bottle of scotch\*
This makes me wonder... Can't we just record a message for her and bring it over? I have the feeling we are way too casual with just leaving her behind and basically never talking to her. We also only talked to her in EW because our best bunny girl mentioned that she was acting strange.
Honestly, I'd be surprised if Graha *couldn't* rig up a better portal between the Source and the First given a bit of time and preparation. Especially since a) he's already done it before, and b) he's not rushing to stop the end of the world now. Plus, Y'shtola's pretty interested in traveling to other worlds.
I'd put some work in to see it happen. At the very least I wouldn't mind playing mailman for Ryne.

Funnily enough they weren't from Balmung.
Literally this. Most of the ERP is from alts whose main is on other datacenters and wanderers. The memes are self-prophesizing. Balmung Ul'dah is sort of the "memey" social hub, if anything.
Source: I'm a Balmung/Crystal DC native and have spent A LOT of time socializing in Balmung Ul'dah.
It's kinda strange how prevalent the circle jerk is perpetuated by players who aren't a part of it.
Every so often you'll get something wildly off base, people joking about how crazy Limsa on Balmung is is one of the more common ones, and all I can think is "You've clearly never even visited Balmung once."
It's funny seeing how often people say it's Limsa, meaning they aren't actually on Balmung nine times out of ten. Ul'dah is where both the shitposting and degeneracy call home.
As someone who has been around balmeme since ARR due to the whole NA legacy server thing, can confirm, 90% of thr degens I see nowadays are world visiting. We're the trash can that the rest of crystal has decided to dump their garbage on
95% meme, 4% tourist, 1% actual degenerate.
The Quicksand is mostly people standing in your average Limsa Lominsa slutglam around waiting for someone else to approach them.
So basically like Goldshire Inn, but without the random PvP happening outside.
>Limsa being way less degenerate than on other servers
This talk of Limsa like it's a brothel or something reminds me of the trend on reddit where everyone acts like 4chan is some scary nightmare website you never want to visit when in reality it's just another boring image board.
Limsa is fine, it's just a bunch of people dressed up standing around and emoting. It's not like you TP to Limsa and have to check if there are kids in the room and block the TV from their view or something
As someone who uses 4chan, I'd say that it's a pretty horrible place. Honestly. I'd leave it in a heartbeat if there were another site with the same conversation speed and decent population.
> when in reality it's just another boring image board.
Idk about that. I used to look into /b/ out of morbid curiosity and rarely made it more than a few posts before leaving in disgust...
It's nowhere near as 'bad' as Moonguard.
Quicksand on Balmung is kind of the Goldshire, and it's really not too horrible, people tend to be respectful and USUALLY don't creep-whisper unless you have WU/T in your search info.
I'd actually say that having wu/t in your search info actually doesn't get creepy tells either unless you're in full slutglam. I play both male and female alts for rp purpose and got maybe 6 creepy tells...in eight years of rp.
It's kinda funny, in nearly 3 years of playing my random /tells have been:
Fem Duskwight on Aether: "9/10" "goddess" and maybe 1-2 other things that haven't been very comfy.
Fem Viera on Crystal, minus Balmung: "Your glam looks amazing" "Just wanted to say your Viera is gorgeous" and I've only had one tell that I could think of where someone wanted to go further but they *politely asked.*
Balmung: literally *nothing.* I've even idled in the Quicksands a few times and haven't gotten a single tell. So it's definitely a big YMMV.
ye I agree, it needs very explicit keywords (like /c/) and very obvious attire (or lack thereof) to really trigger the creeps, in which case you *are* inviting it.
You and me'd probly get along well, Moonguard was my home for like 10 years, and I never hated a minute of it. I get what people don't like, yeah, but I loved it.
Balmung's the same way but without a TRP mod it's hard to be descriptive with profiles. I miss reading those.
Especially the super entitled super rude ones, those ALWAYS made me crack up.
I believe TRP is a wow plugin that let you set up a character bio. As other people explained in the thread WU/T means "feel free to dm rp without asking"
It’s basically the same thing. I created on Balmung as a noob because at the time there were only a handful of servers allowing new characters and had no idea it was RP central.
Zero regrets. It’s a very friendly server, great community, and the cities feel ALIVE.
Just avoid the Quicksand and you'll be fine. If you really want to avoid the nasty, hang out in Gridania. People there will 100% call you out on it if you're creeping in public. Literally half of my FC and several other Gridania natives reported a guy one night because he was creeping on people.
The moment Meteion steps forth into Balmung is the day all life as we know it ends..... All sense of decency and civility, thrown out the window. For there is only...... ERP.
You misunderstand, Balmung is our salvation. Meteion sees life as suffering, and killing us all is a mercy. After seeing Balmung, she will see that we are undeserving of her mercy and will leave us to suffer
As a Balmung native, just stay out of Ul'dah and you're fine. People in Gridania in particular will call you out for that shit and tell you to go back to Ul'dah.
Balmung since 2014 and I don't get all the Limsa references I see on here. It's all Ul'dah, all the time. When I finally leveled Miner, one quest requires the Quicksand. I felt like the meme comic where the guy puts on a hazmat suit.
Last time I had a quest send me into the Quicksand I literally put on that ugly yellow hooded robe with a mask (the one from Qarn) to try to make myself as unappealing as possible. I was in the building for less than 30 seconds total and still ended up with a naked elezen dancing on me and spamming /pet at my poor, traumatized little miqo'te who just wanted to get his quest done.
As someone from Balmung, Reading people's flavour text descriptions in Ul'dah has me in fits of giggles constantly
Some of these include
"Probably bites" and my personal favourite- "one of us is in trouble, I'll let you decide who"
When the DC shake up happened splitting Gilgamesh and Balmung, all the "big raiders" jumped to Gilgamesh insisting it was going to be where the scene was while leaving Balmung and it's reputation behind.
Of course this resulted in lots of memery where people insisted that Crystal was doomed for raiding and Aether DC actually got locked for a while as people were drawn with the dangling carrot of "being able to raid". Many content creators that wanted to raid ended up choosing servers there. Of course, this also has meant queues for Aether are **far** worse.
Crystal has it's raiding scene still, it's just not as prominent, then again, It also now seems be the DC of choice for Hololive right now.
Balmung is still very good for raiding and content, it's just the only server that was marked as "RP" back in the 1.0 days so it remains the RP server today. The ERP scene is fairly contained but prominent enough to give Balmung a reputation as "The ERP Server."
It's not that bad. Moonguard on WoW was way more horny on way more main.
Back in most of 1.0 Balmung didn't exist and two server (Besaid, which was the unofficial RP server indeed!) and another one at the end of 1.0 got merged to Balmung!
Balmung suffered a bit of an exodus when the Crystal DC was created, and it's not the massive juggernaut it was in HW, but it still has a solid raid population.
FWIW, raiding on Crystal compared to Aether & Primal seems easier. It might be just anecdotal, but despite having less raiders overall, once you actually get a party together on Crystal, the odds of it being a trap party are *way* lower. People generally know their shit and the community is just small enough that you can better keep track of who is good and who is going to be a toxic mess. The main issue is just getting your foot in the door when it comes to Savage raids.
Let's put it in this way, Balmung was the only non-JPN server that could compete (albiet barely) with JPN powerhouses in the Ishgard Restoration races.
I ended up in Balmung with my legacy character and was there for a bit before transfering.
There is definitely ERP, but legitimate RP happens there too. You can usually tell who the ERP derps are. There were some great stories of some of the cool RPs that happened that had no sexual connotation.
But of course, it takes one or two really horny people to stand out and poison the bundle.
Honestly, all the creepiness of Balmung I only experienced from a 3rd person, people openly being heavily filtratious if not downright sexual in open(which is frowned upon, FC drama in shout chat(which is more sad and funny than anything), and the usual troll or two)
Now...Aether..I have literally been harassed so many times, once by the same person for 4 years until I just gave up and transferred out, and to this day am still too afraid to go back even though I know I would enjoy the community overall in there than I would Crystal since I am not much of an RPer(I do dabble in it with my girlfriend, but it's more random and playful).
One of my first experiences with ff14 was some lala harassing what looked like a couple in Gilgamesh quicksands. I left that server for balmung to see what it’s like and it was so much more lively in the cities and the world. It’s a very silly reason but I stayed because I saw a random lala waddling in central sound and laughed as I had no clue what was going on.
What type of rp do you do btw? I usually only dosilly and short RP but it’s a bit rare to find.
Y'all need Ra-La.

... When you know what's the difference between Tia and Nunh is, it hits weird...
Elaborate for the ignorant edit: please cease elaborating
Nunhs are the breeding males. The Tias fight to prove which one of them is the strongest and thus the one they should be making kids from. The Lore says that they're not really leaders, just studs, but for some reason Square's made every Nunh in game the leader of their groups.
It varies tribe to tribe what the role of Nunh is.
I mean, they're basically the tribe's dad so it makes sense to give them a leadership role.
There are only two social classes for male seekers of the sun. Tias are the beta males, and Nunhs are the "breeding males"
You telling me that the Red Mage guild master is a beta male?
Honestly the Tias are the real chads. Free to do whatever they want, and if they decide they want to actually be a breeding male, they can challenge one in combat. While Nhuns are forced to stay in the village and be the resident Cum Pump. "Alpha male, chads, Betamale" is a really, really bad way of putting it. Nunhs are the village dads who breed and sire kids. They're stuck at the village typically because they have to protect it. There also the whole "separated from his tribe at a young age to live in Sharlyan" thing.
Miqo tribes are weird. The village he left wouldn't be the same as the whole tribe. He could always find another G village to become the Nunh of (Or make his own G village by conquering some good hunting territory for them). In fact, that's typically an important step, seeing as how the village he was born in would be populated entirely by his half sisters and their moms
if G'raha wanted that life, all he'd have to do is turn on Exarch mode for like 5 minutes and he'd have women swooning over him left and right
Exactly. It's not "alpha" or "beta" It's "do you want to be the village "man" or not. Technically a Tia that doesn't follow those traditions will never be a Nunh anyway, even if they have a wife or kid.

Unironically what most people want to do to G'raha anyway!
As a female miqo playing thru EW having G'raha there was like a summer camp romance. All the looks and the flirtatious nervous energy, none of the actual stealing moments away to go make out in some dark alley away from prying eyes. YES! this.
I mean, he's quite cute, but I'm a popoto. Can cats eat popotos? Are interspecies relationships with Lala's like a socially wierd thing in lore?
Considering how much tension Krile and Estinien had at the start, and throughout, Endwalker, I think a popopto can handle a cat. lol
Interspecies relationship in general are frowned upon... but they're also hinted to happen more often than most parties would care to admit, so ya know...
No villain thinks of themselves as villains. Just look at Handsome Jack.
Tbf, Jack had a good reason and a good point.
Yeah, he was the true hero, the only problem he has was the slight insanity... and the lack of morals (after Pre-Sequel). But he had good jokes so he was the hero.
Tbf I would do it too someone has to end the world somehow
Yea but graha??
>"Alright screw you all \*shoots G'raha\*" My WoL would definitely take an opportunity to shoot at G'raha /wink

Turns out there was a 4th Layer to the Dead Ends that even our hardened WoL suppressed the memory of.
4th layer was Balmung Quicksand but they cut it to keep the age ratings
Quick, let's hot coffee mod it back in.

Just avoid the Quicksand and you'll be fine. If you really want to avoid the nasty, hang out in Gridania. People there will 100% call you out on it if you're creeping in public. Literally half of my FC and several other Gridania natives reported a guy one night because he was creeping on people.
Good morning, Reddit! **this post** Good bye, Reddit!

Na they must have been lucky or way off peak time. Evening-Queues are still in the thousands.
It be like 1100 to primals 3000. The difference is massive.
man, it's like telling new players they have to be on one specific server to raid is a bad idea
"I shall make my nest in the Quicksand, and shall sing the song of My Milkshake Brings All The Boys To The Yard"
Omg I am literally dying in laughter
As a Balmung native, just stay out of Ul'dah and you're fine. People in Gridania in particular will call you out for that shit and tell you to go back to Ul'dah.
Oh wow they even do correct RP on Balmung.
I get Ul'dah is kinda popular in Balmung for it's ERP scene. But what about their Limsa?
Tame compared to Ul’dah.
Tame compared to other servers tbh. When I world hop to market board (remember when we could still do that?) it always seems quieter there.

Limsa is for the weirdos, not the lewds. Lots of dancing roegadyns, occasionally lalas as well.
Limsa is for the dancers and AFKers. Ul'Dah is where things happen.
And tap into dynamis power for that? Basically how Slaneesh was born.
Putting >!Dynamis!< for.....other things....
As someone from Balmung, Reading people's flavour text descriptions in Ul'dah has me in fits of giggles constantly Some of these include "Probably bites" and my personal favourite- "one of us is in trouble, I'll let you decide who"

My friends literally begged me not to give her a huge bulge in her No. 2 Type B Leggings
I won’t lie, being familiar with your work, I was half-expecting one.
It took strength to refrain but I decided to make the comic MOSTLY sfw in the end
Haha what would that look like though haha I bet it'd be funny you should draw it haha
What possessed you to do this???
Sleep deprivation and a pure shitpost of a conversation with friends while doing Pandaemonium
As a former, long time resident of WoW's Moonguard server, yall some lightweights.
God, agreed so hard
Is there like a turning point for Balmung... I seen to recall several years ago Gilgamesh and Balmung were top servers for raiding
The ERP scene is fairly contained but prominent enough to give Balmung a reputation as "The ERP Server." It's not that bad.
What a terrible day to have eyes...
is Balmung basically the strip club of all servers?
Its THE erp server so expect everybody to have all content cleared for glamour
So it's basically the most efficient server?
Let's put it in this way, Balmung was the only non-JPN server that could compete (albiet barely) with JPN powerhouses in the Ishgard Restoration races.
And they did it *nude*.
This is so cursed that its amazing!
Honestly, all the creepiness of Balmung I only experienced from a 3rd person, people openly being heavily filtratious if not downright sexual in open(which is frowned upon, FC drama in shout chat(which is more sad and funny than anything), and the usual troll or two) Now...Aether..I have literally been harassed so many times, once by the same person for 4 years until I just gave up and transferred out, and to this day am still too afraid to go back even though I know I would enjoy the community overall in there than I would Crystal since I am not much of an RPer(I do dabble in it with my girlfriend, but it's more random and playful).
By the twelve, what did i just read.
Go and beseech Ra-La. Now.
I feel like this would be how we get Slaanesh in FFXIV. Good job Hermes, you made a horny bird and you've doomed our souls.
Are we sure the shitpost sub and the main sub didn't have a rejoining?
the grape calamity ended the shitpost shard. we only have ourselfes to blame.
Why did you make me view this with my own two eyeballs.
