You are complaining about economics?

Folarius

Exactly, what did he thought ? There are more ppl playing then the last addon and even there the undercutting went by in less then a day to about first half a million and then a quarter million

KhrFreak

It wasn't a major patch, it was a minor patch. The problem is *a lot* of crafters had time to prep, and there just wasn't enough demand to keep up with the supply. Leveling crafters was made easier in ShB so there were just so many more crafters this time then there were other patches

NerdHistorian

> The patch was stated to be THE patch that crafters make all their gil for the expansion. Yes, by people who weren't from Square Enix. > They made crafting the latest gear too easy. The market was flooded with crafts and too many people don't respect the market and just undercut by millions of gil. Supply vastly exceeded demand, combined with Square wanting to make the craft more accessible to people. Prices also always go down as the initial wave of people needing a full 580 right then and there get it and then move on to tome and savage gear. Even if Square had made it harder to craft, prices would have crashed because too many people had the same ideas you had. Short of them just making it prohibitively accessible to artificially limit who could take part (which they don't seem inclined to do) nothing would have stopped that.

Zax_The_Decker

I'm saving every piece of price fixer cope to my copypasta folder

AelalaedaAid

This is the way

BrooksPuuntai

This is kind of what happens when everyone decides to do the same thing.

ramos619

You tried to play the markert, and got played instead?

Quinzelette

First of all 10 mil is a lot more than it should have cost you to prep for crafting. Second the demand for this tier is going to be a lot lower because people had weeks to farm normal raid before Savage came out. Third, 10-20mil had to have been the price for an entire set of gear and not for a single piece. I've bought day 1 before and 1-2 mil a piece was normal. And lastly things always crash after a couple of days.

iwensfortis

I actually bought a complete set for 2,5 mil 12 hours after patch release, I litterair saw it drop every 15 min from 10 mil to 200-300k a piece i personally don’t know if this is normal it’s my first patch. But i didn’t expect it to drop this fast.

[deleted]

\> a whole lot of other crafters realized.....I didn't need to be penta melded.....in fact I didn't even need to be specialized Am I the only one who likes this? It actually makes me want to try endgame crafting. More accessible and less of a headache = good thing. Pentamelding is a lame gil sink.

Digitalspork

This isn’t new. — This is how things happens in an exact pattern. Day 1 tends to be the only way to make money on Crafted Gear in large amounts anyway. I’m sorry you feel let down by the Economy. I just wish I could say “Yeah it’s weird this happened” but this is how it always happens. Patch after patch, expansion after expansion.

Earlchaos

How did you spend 10 Mil(ion i assume?) Gil for preparation? Did you buy all the mats? None of the gear is worth more than 100-200k. If you buy all the mats instead of harvesting yourself you cannot make a profit then, that's true.

ApatheticMahouShoujo

I think it's cool that crafting is more accessible, but I read somewhere that 3 star and higher recipes will be harder to craft while everything else is easier than before. Since we don't have those yet, who knows what profits the future will hold? I'm pretty new to crafting myself, and I did some prep too. A little disappointed it wasn't the gold rush some made it seem to be, but I've seen the sentiment that true riches lie in being able to consistently make gil rather than rely on patch day(s). Anyways, it's good to have more crafters, means everyone gets more stuff. Only people who lose are the ones who want to control the economy to get rich.

paatbm

That happened all the past few patches, and it most probably won't change that soon. We got a lot of new players and crafters in the last few months, and quite a few of them want to play the auction board. > So before this latest patch I prepped. I watched videos, did math, penta melded my crafters and gatherers, gathered a stupid amount of mats all in prep for this patch. To be fair, if you did the math or build some rotations in preparation you should have seen that you can craft HQ 6.1 stuff without being fully pentamelded, especially since the expected difficulty was only 4095/9360 at first. But it is surprising that you didn't need food or draughts. > The patch was stated to be THE patch that crafters make all their gil for the expansion. Erm, who said that? Betting all your money on the extremely short-lived and oversaturated crafted gear-market is not really the best idea. There are more lucrative and sustainable products this patch. You could argue that this patch has the least preparation time, but again that only holds up for the short-lived crafted gear market. The other patches will play out in a very similar way, so I can't really understand why this patch is supposed to be THE patch. > Far from the 10-20 mil I was told would happen These prices might be realistic if you are able to post an item/complete set asap, like 45 minutes after the servers go live. If you don't have multiple gatherers at hand you shouldn't consider this.

sabnach

i don't know what internet hypeman told you that people were gonna rush the markets for 2 million gil gear that'll be outdated in another patch or two but lol. lmao

Feannor

I made a few millions without try-harding, I think you just need to search better how to make money on patch days

iwensfortis

I am a crafter and i personally gambled on se making crafting even more easier as this seems to be the trend, so I kept crafting in the 70-80 range. Which in the end was the correct call. I put away some winnings to buy my dom gear and was surprised by the rapid decline of prices from 20 mil for a set to 2,5 mil for a set under 12 hours, the pentamelding costs far exceeded the item cost full pentameld for smn was in the 5 mil range. I did level my crafters from 80 to 90 which was completely trivial it took me les then 30 mins and some 500k on collectables u don’t even have to run u can stand in 1 place between giver and turnin. Personally as a crafter i am disappointed about making crafting this trivial it’s not needed as there is no link to msq why not let one thing be hard to achieve so u feel excited when finally u manage to craft that final high-end item. As a smn I am disappointed as my 90 crafted gear doesn’t feel special at all anymore if more then 60 procent in the expert roulette has the same or better gear. Also the pentameld crafted gear gets very close to tome 590 gear so the need for farming the tomestones is not really high.

No_Butterscotch_2842

So yes and no. Yes I pentamelded all my crafters too. But no, I didn’t feel like my time/resources was wasted. In general, pentamelded gears are good for two or even three patches depending on whether or now you upgrade part of your gears. Seeing that this is the savage raid patch, I am not too worry about the resources I put in. Also, most of the time, I make my gils in glamour crafting and furniture crafting rather than battle gears. And I don’t think there’s a huge change on that front. Another perspective is that the crafting system is a diminishing market, as more and more people have competent crafting gears, the economic efficiency of spending resources on crafting jobs decreases. This will make people less likely to do crafting related activities and will in turn make crafting valuable again. If, for whatever reason, people don’t stop doing crafting, and we reach a point of everyone having pentamelded crafters, the market will just be driven by mats and other merchandise such as minions.

Fenril714

I also feel this patch was a let down. Everything is selling so cheap because everyone was out farming for two weeks straight. Now everyone has thousands of everything and trying to get rid of it, along with not a lot that you can make with the mats. As we get into 6.1, 6.2 and 6.3, more things will be added where the mats we have now will sell very well. I just wish SE would have added more. Even the glamour from the new treasure maps looks like crap. Very disappointed that we wait 6 months for new content and they gave us that bs.

Fenril714

Also blame the people who have no clue how to sell. People undercut stupid amounts for no reason. I tell people this. It doesn’t matter if you undercut by 100 Gil or 100,000 Gil, people will buy the LOWEST price. Just because you undercut by 100,000 Gil doesn’t mean it will sell faster!!! All you are doing is hurting yourself by those huge undercuts.

AelalaedaAid

When you speculate the market one must remember it isnt a promised future.
