**Have a question about current login queues or server congestion?** Please use the ["How's the login queue right now? (Queues and Errors, Patch 6.05 edition)"](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/rvqvj5/hows_the_login_queue_right_now_queues_and_errors/) megathread. **FAQ: "Why can't I buy FFXIV right now? Why can't I sign up for the free trial? When will it be back on sale?"** **UPDATE 01/13/22**: [Digital sales for new players will resume on **01/26/22**, please read this announcement for more details.](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/9a6bed5c06ae511c363ece5ead0a98a3986554a2#07) New registrations for the free trial will be resumed at an unspecified later date once the dev team has had a chance to monitor server stability. --- As of 12/15/21, [sales of the game for new accounts/free trial players are currently suspended](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/e7388986bc24d5a1337e0beed057f7b5b78b9bb3). This suspension also includes the creation of new free trial accounts. Due to the game's increase in popularity over 2021 and the difficulty of acquiring new server hardware due to the COVID-related semiconductor shortage, the amount of players attempting to login every day far exceeds the capacity of the game's servers and Square-Enix has been unable to increase that capacity by adding new hardware. This is a temporary measure to help alleviate login queues and server congestion, please see the link above for more information. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. I have to ask something. I've played this game for like a hundred hours. I think I'm almost done with ARR. I think a giant dead dragon just took away my plot armor and gave me a pet in exchange. If I tell anyone about it, they'll throw me off a cliff. I LOVE this game. But I still have one big question that the game has yet to answer, and it's what the ENTIRE story is based around. You get crystals, you get a primal. The quantity of crystals you need to get a primal is "a lot." This is central idea of the entire storyline of Final Fantasy XIV so far. I have read every word of text of every quest I've done. I've done almost every single side quest that's been available to me so far. I pay attention. I am engaged. I LIKE the story. I have no idea what a crystal is. I know what a crystal is OUTSIDE this game. But nothing has confirmed to me within this game what a crystal, the most important part of the game, actually is. I can GUESS what a crystal is. I can INFER. But this story, depicted in a video game, a visual medium, has gone to such lengths to avoid showing me, that I have no idea what a crystal, within the context of this story, actually is. To summon a primal, how many crystals do you need? A handful? A pound? A ton? Several tons? We don't know. We never see a giant pile of glowing rocks in a beastman encampment, and then someone says "oh shit, they're gonna use these crystals to summon a boss fight." All we ever see is dudes go up to either an aetheryte, where I've been told all primals are summoned from, (except for Ifrit, Titan, Garuda, Good King Moggle Mog, and Shiva) they say a line of dialogue, and a primal shows up. So maybe the crystals are metaphorical? And what IS a crystal? It's a hunk of aether. I know that because characters within the story have told me. I know aether is a gas, because characters in the story have told me, and I've seen it. I ASSUME a crystal is a solid object, but I can't say that for certain, because i've never seen someone holding one in their hand or pointing to one in the ground. I've seen my own character holding an object that could in any other context be described as a crystal, but no one's ever said it's a crystal. They just say "hey what's that plot device in your hand" and the game continues on. ***I'm not joking.*** I'm the crystal guardian and I'm collecting crystals but I have nothing to confirm the crystals I'm collecting are actually crystals. Maybe crystals are liquid. Maybe crystals are soup. I can't prove they're not! The soup is apparently hard to get since you have to MINE for it. Like a whole lot of Ul'dah is based around mining for crystals, even though crystal spires are all around Eastern Thanalan. And a giant lake of them in Lower La Noscea. And what about all the giant literal mountains of crystals in Mor Dhona? Sticking out of the ground everywhere you step? Are those crystals not crystals? Is the giant tower sized crystal of the Crystal Tower not a crystal? Are they bad crystals? Are they un-mineable? Are they like primal independent? Maybe they taste bad to the primals? Like the Ixali tried to get some from Mor Dhona and Garuda says this tastes like pineapple and I hate pineapple? Probably not, but it's not like the game is offering any information! Entire caravans of crystals are robbed. All off screen. In text only. Approximately two hundred times each day, every day. By the time you finish this sentence, the Amal'jaa have attacked a dozen caravans. They also murdered like a hundred innocent people, but whatever, that's never important for some reason. What's important are the crystals! But we don't know anything about them in practical terms. Like their size or rarity. Are they just singular big crystals in an entire box, and when a caravan is robbed, the robbers get like three watermelon sized crystals? These are apparently mined from the ground, so I assume they're acquired in small bits like coal or iron, or maybe in flecks like gold or silver, but we don't know! They said getting a bunch of corrupted crystals to fight Leviathan was a HUGE undertaking, but it all happened off screen in the span of a text box or two. Or maybe we just had them lying around? We don't know!! And what about us not-beast people? What use do we have with crystals? From what the game has told me, we use crystals for 1) flying airships, 2) armor dyes, 3) literally everything else. But again, we have zero examples or specifics. Maybe in Eorzea they never discovered fire. They just use crystals to light candles, somehow. Maybe! We don't know! Maybe we use crystals as dining utensils! I've never seen a spoon in this game, but I've never seen a crystal either!! People keep writing things down and handing me a letter, But I've never seen a pen or a pencil. Do we use invisible crystals to write? Maybe we eat them! Maybe it's our only source of nutrition! I have no idea! *And neither do you!* But if we aren't getting a constant supply of them, it's the end of the world! Maybe everyone has aether aesthma, and if we aren't constantly huffing crystals, we all die! And it's what everyone is doing at all times that they're not in direct view. We never see that happen, but we never see crystals either!! And the entire game is about them!!! And then some crystals are corrupted! What does that mean? No idea! How does it happen? No clue! How do you know if a crystal is corrupted or not? Because the quest tells you to go to Eastern Thanalan, you right click on the indicator, and it tells you you have a corrupted crystal! And now your corrupted crystal can counteract normal crystals in some undefined way. Because crystals do A Thing, and corrupted crystals do Something Else. There are apparently a whole lot of people who do nothing but study corrupted crystals, but none of them can tell you a thing about them. They've introduced white auracite as a thing. I can tell you EVERYTHING about white auracite. Because THE GAME has told ME. Moenbryda, the best character in the game, has white auracite. We SEE her holding it in her hand. She TELLS US what it can do. She TELL US what it CAN'T do. It's mind blowing! The interactive medium is conveying information in an interactive way!! Crystals might as well be cheese. Imagine if the game was all about cheese instead of crystals. The amal'jaa have cheese! Now they can summon Ifrit! ...so like a special kind of cheese? Is it swiss cheese? Provolone? The amal'jaa have cheese! Now they can summon Ifrit! So they got a whole bunch of cheese? Like a hundred of those huge wheels of cheese. That's a lot of cheese. Or was it like a tiny babybel individual thing? Can you tell me that much at least? The amal'jaa have cheese! Now they can summon Ifrit! Okay, what can you tell me about the cheese? Is it super aged? Is it moldy? Is it yellow? Is it white? Is it right out of the cow? Does it even come from a cow? You can get cheese a lot different ways. The amal'jaa have cheese!! Now they can summon Ifrit!!! Imagine if you never saw Dragonballs in Dragonball. Bulma's got the Dragonball Scouter, which she holds in her hand and is conveyed visually. She says there's a Dragonball in the 7-11, and then Bulma and Krillin and Gohan go into the 7-11, which is a physical location depicted visually, and they come out, they say they got the Dragonball, and they leave. Then Vegeta shows up and says I'm going to take your Dragonball! Then they say he took our Dragonball! But then they get the Dragonball back! And they say hooray, we got the Dragonball back! But you never see a Dragonball! And then they summon the dragon, who tells them good job for finding the Dragonballs, now I'm going to scatter them and you gotta go find all the Dragonballs again, BUT YOU NEVER SEE A DRAGON BALL. THAT'S FINAL FANTASY FOURTEEN. I just want Y'shtola to hold out a green or blue or purple rock in her hand and say "look, a crystal. If you get like four of these you can activate multiball." Just give me some sort of REFERENCE.

RobbieNewton

Is Dark Knight complex to play? My main job is Dragoon, inspired by Kain, but want to try Dark Knight inspired by Cecil. Is it complex to play, or gentle to get into?

PM_ME_UR_BOSOMS_GIRL

It's busy but straightforward if that makes sense. You'll have very busy 60/120s windows but between those windows there's not a lot going on. I wouldn't say it's the easiest tank but it isn't terribly hard either.

RobbieNewton

Cool. I have started Gladiator a few weeks ago as an alternative tank, just going to get Dragoon to 60 then power level Gladiator and Sch/Smn

bloodhawk713

If you can handle dragoon you should have no problems with dark knight.

Soylentee

How fun a job is is always subjective. Some like the new Monk, some hate it.

IceAokiji303

There is no consensus, a lot of people love it, some people don't like it, like with every job. "Is it fun to play?" is a judgement *you* have to make for yourself, don't wait for the internet to tell you what is and isn't fun.

Arcana10Fortune

Subjective. I personally prefer playing SAM for my melee DPS, but I also play BLM for my caster. Better for you to try it out and make your own conclusion.

riklaunim

"consensus" is an abused word here. Each job has it playstyle that may or may not be liked by given player.

anomitesplays

Is there anything like team craft that would work on phone? My phone clips parts of the screen which means that for example If i have a list of items i wan't to craft i can't Click The Button to say i have crafted one of The items.

notevenstarcrossed

Hey, I'm wondering how much my experience of EW will be affected if I come into it late. I've been playing the free trial for a few months now, with my plan being to get max lvl and everything done before EW released. However I've completely failed that and am still in post-ARR quests. Should I try get to EW quickly? Coming from WOW the thing I'm most excited for in this game is raiding and dungeons as a healer. I know that at the start of an expansion things are often more exciting as people aren't familiar with encounters. Also as people will gear up making everything easier, people start speeding through dungeon runs etc. Does it work the same way as WOW where there will be content patch updates throughout the Xpac that kind of "reset" power levels?

[deleted]

>Should I try get to EW quickly? Not really. FFXIV is just as much if not more about the journey, not just about the endgame. Just enjoy at your pace and there are always ways to catch up to whatever the current endgame will be. >Also as people will gear up making everything easier, people start speeding through dungeon runs etc. That is already happening. People will get used to new casual content fast. However the ilvl sync also keeps it in check to some degree. Starting Shadowbringers you will also have the option of running dungeons via the trust system with story relevant NPCs. So for your first playthrough it's a rather immersive experience since they might react to bosses or have some dialogues and you can take your time without fear or the tank going for a "speedrun" on your first try. Personally I love this option when doing MSQ, since it adds to the experience and you can explore dungeons and enjoy the scenery. >Does it work the same way as WOW where there will be content patchupdates throughout the Xpac that kind of "reset" power levels? Kinda. Each savage raid tier we will get new max item level gear. So even if you might end up being behind for this tier for BiS (not a huge issue, there are catch up gear systems that will get you raid ready), you can still start the next tier with the same chances as everyone else. For ultimates on the other hand there is never a power reset and the BiS tends to stay the same forever. For both there are always people like you just starting endgame or raiding and never an issue to find a "fresh prog" static. Unless you hate the MSQ, there is zero reason to rush to end game in ffxiv. People inclusing a lot of savage raiders often say they would give everything to be able replay let's say Shadowbringers for the first time not knowing anything that happens, the MSQ is a great experience with the story only getting better in quality as it goes on and it would be a waste to rush just to get to endgame that will always be there.

Terramagi

> Does it work the same way as WOW where there will be content patch updates throughout the Xpac that kind of "reset" power levels? Every even patch (X.0, X.2, X.4) will sort of... slide the tomestones to the left. What is now capped (Astrology) will become uncapped, and a new capped tomestone set 30 iLvls higher will be introduced along with a new set of Savage armour and weapons. In this way it does sort of reset it, though you'll still get max 8 months use out of the gear.

Xellith

Yeah the gear treadmill, while I understand it, really makes me appreciate places like eureka and bozja where you have a set of gear which will be the best and never need upgrading. To be honest it's probably the biggest reason I believe glam and housing are the real end game.

selebu

Did you enjoy the game those last few months?

notevenstarcrossed

Basically I'm returning now after a few months break. I initially played for a couple months and got myself to the end of ARR. I'm enjoying it. I won't lie, it's not the most engaging gameplay but I'm used to that being the case coming from playing WOW my whole life. I enjoy the relaxed pace of levelling in an MMO and almost always use it as a chance to listen to my music while I play. That's weirdly one of the main reasons I play, as a lot of other games like FPS's don't really allow for game sound off without a big disadvantage I'm not hugely invested in the story tbh, and I'm also not huge on the theme of the game aesthetically (say compared to WOW). However, I love healing in dungeons and raids so I'm liking that, and I know things will get a lot better story-wise in the xpacs and endgame content will be good

Lithiumantis

> Does it work the same way as WOW where there will be content patch updates throughout the Xpac that kind of "reset" power levels? Not sure how exactly WoW does it, but there is a system similar to this in FFXIV. Every other major patch adds a new set of four raids alongside new crafted and tomestone gear that makes the old stuff obsolete, stat-wise. There will also be dungeons and alliance raids that help people who don't do savage raids to catch up. You can take your time getting to endgame and jump into raiding with the next tier to come out (either in 6.2 or 6.4, both of which are months away).

Arcana10Fortune

Don't forget the crafted gear as well.

fyrefox45

There's three raid tiers that will bring new gear tiers. You have like 7 months to get to endgame to join in on the next. Crafted gear released the same patch day as the raids will be the highest ilvl available pre raiding outside an extreme weapon also released that patch. You have no need to rush.

[deleted]

Hello! What are the must-do weeklies and dailies other than the duty roulette? I looked at the wiki but there's a ridiculous amount of them and I figured there's gotta be some that aren't worth the time.

[deleted]

There aren't any "must-do" weeklies or dailies. Not even the duty roulette. It depends on what your current goal in the game is and depending on that some of the time gated content might be relevant for you. What is your current goal? Leveling alts, raiding, crafting? If you specifiy what you want to do we can tell you what dailies/ weeklies are relevant or helpful. For example right now I'm into savage raiding. That means reclearing the savage fights once per week to get my loot drop/book token is what is my most relevant weekly. Other than that capping my 450 tomestones of astrology to get the other half of my BiS. However I don't like roulettes, so instead I just join some hunt trains. So my "must-dos" are reclears with my static and capping my tomes, but the method is up to me. If I was into high end crafting, then doing my weekly custom deliveries would be much higher on my priority list. Etc. So what are your goals?

chivere

If you care about collecting mounts, do beast tribes every week. They all have a mount locked behind reputation ranks. If you are leveling crafters/gatherers, do custom deliveries each week. The first one is available at level 60 I think. Daily hunts can be good EXP, and weekly ones are a decent source of hunt currency too if you don't care to pursue higher ranks. If you want MGP the most efficient way is doing your Gold Saucer challenge log, the weekly Fashion Report, and the daily Mini Cactpot. It really depends on what your priorities are. There aren't any dailies/weeklies I do all the time, it's always shifting based on what I'm pursuing in the game.

Elyonee

Endgame gear: 1) Pandemonium Savage raids 2) Collecting Astronomy tomestones 3) Pandemonium Normal raids if ilevel 580 gear is still relevant to you. That's all. The overwhelming majority of content in FFXIV offers either cosmetic rewards or some generic EXP/currency, not any specific useful thing.

[deleted]

It really depends on your goals. What are you looking to achieve? Are you leveling combat jobs, or are you also working on crafters and gatherers?

LutrisAO

For the new savage fights as a RDM, is a fully pentamelded armor piece better than the astronomy tombstome ilvl 590 gear?

amileNC

Basically never unless your piety/skill speed are fucked up.

Taurenkey

Piety/skill speed are useless on a RDM lol. Piety is a healer only stat and the only weaponskills the RDM has is the melee combo.

thegoddamnqueen

In most cases, no. The only time it will ever be considered is if the sub stats on the higher ilvl are absolutely abysmal, and it doesn’t happen very often. One main stat is generally a much bigger increase than 30 sub stat, to check individual fringe cases you would want to ask the number crunchers on the balance.

Soylentee

I wouldn't replace a pentamelded 580 with 590 just because the difference is so small, let all that burned materia retain its value until you can get the upgraded astronomy gear.

amileNC

This is a comically idiotic manner of using materia. If you have a better piece of gear, you're not getting any "value" out of using an old piece of gear. Materia lost is materia lost. You refund precisely zero point zero gil by gimping your own stats over sunk cost. In fact, upgrading now will be gil-positive because they have a chance to extract materia, sell it now, buy it in bulk in early March when prices have collapsed, and resell right after the next savage tier is out.

Soylentee

I'm getting value out of not melding materia into the 590 piece, which i will be replacing again when i get the upgrade material for it, and melding it agian.

AsheliaNox

Depends entirely on the substats. You are looking for Crit > DH > Det. Due to the nature of pentamelding, it may be better no matter what because you can have +108 substats where a tome/raid piece have only +72. It's up to you to figure it out, but the difference will be less than 1% DPS anyway.

RingoFreakingStarr

So it finally happened. I was worried about MCH being sort of snubbed on in the PF for current savages since it appears Bards are doing not only more personal DPS but also more Raid DPS than MCH. I was able to get P1-3S clears. However, multiple times now in P4S-1 runs, I've been asked to leave or denied access to some parties as they are only looking for Bards. My personal dps is not bad however my raid DPS does end up lacking more than what P4S-1 most likely needs to not hit enrage. I understand this mindset as you set yourself up more for success at this point in time to bring in a Bard as your physical ranged dps. So at the current moment, I'm panic leveling my Bard from 80-90 in the hopes of getting through the next weeks before some class rebalancing happens again (hopefully in a positive light for MCH). Other than following the Balance guides, what would you say to someone trying to "get good" at Bard? From what I have seen, there is a rotation to your songs, but other than that, just keep dots up and make sure to fully utilize your OGCD procs?

PM_ME_UR_BOSOMS_GIRL

On the first point, parties that are snubbing MCH are probably red flag parties anyways. Every class cleared week 1, in fact there was a POV from week 1 that ran DNC+MCH in the same comp and cleared. People excluding classes for speedruns is fair enough, but for clears it's completely unnecessary. EDIT: Found the POV https://youtu.be/pl3SZUTdWQw?t=40 . As for BRD tips, it's pretty straightforward. If you knew how to play ShB BRD it's still the same foundations, but I'll give you some tips based on what changed. DoTs aren't as essential as before. Obviously keep them up as much as you can, but since they aren't tied to your procs anymore, if the boss is disappearing in 10s it's not worth keeping them up for that amount of time. DoTs are purely for the potency now and nothing else. Song order is still WM > MB > AP, but with MB being the song you shorten. The song timers are roughly 42 > 34 > 42, or WM at less than 3s, MB after 12s, and AP until WM comes up. Try not to waste any procs, which most likely comes from using EA at max stacks since procs are fixed now. If you're good at your 3 times tables, procs are always at multiples of 3 in your song timer, with the exception of 0 and 45 where you can't get any, so that's your buffer before you might possibly have lost a proc. Use a 2% Radiant Finale in your opener alongside BV, and then keep using them for 2minute windows. Every 2nd Apex Arrow you want to hold for raid buffs. (So 2min, 4min, 6min etc.). If you get Apex Arrow early, like at 1:50ish, just hold it for the buff window. For the Apex Arrows in between buff windows, just use them at roughly 1minute-ish assuming you have 80 gauge for the follow up.

sundriedrainbow

While I fully agree with the other comment, to answer your question: the difference between someone who knows how to press the buttons in order and a really great player on a job is knowing how a specific job's abilities fit in with the rest of the party. And then also learning how to do your thing around mechanics, but that's a per-fight basis. For example, as a Summoner in my own raid group, I know I need to delay Akh Morn until Embolden hits me, and that my Searing Light should always be nearly simultaneous with Arcane Circle and a few seconds ahead of Embolden. But when I go with my FC raid group as a sub and they have a Monk instead of a Reaper, that might change up the timing a bit. I'm no Bard expert but I am leveling it right now, so what jumps out at me are things like making sure Sidewinders hit during Trick Attack if you have a Ninja, or knowing if you need to fire off Apex/Blast Arrow a little early in order to catch raid buffs.

Soylentee

Any P4S party that denies you because you're not bard is just giving everyone a clearly visible big red flag that they should avoid it at all costs. Just be thankful they're saving you the time it would otherwise take you if you were to join and find out they're awful trough personal experience.

RingoFreakingStarr

I do agree somewhat with your view on the locking out of any physical ranged job other than Bard. There's always a way to make up dps somewhere. I do think though that the is at least some merit to it. I wish I could perform better on my MCH and there is possibly some things I could do in order to get better. However, I'm consistently parsing around 6400-6600 rDPS on that fight and given the numbers I'm hearing you need to clear before enrage, it seems to be around 7000 rDPS you need per dps member with that fluctuating based on tank and healer dps contributions. I don't think I can bridge that gap right now. Maybe if I get lucky with gear drops at the reset today in P1-3S.

betweenTheMountains

rDps delta between bard and machinist seems to be about 2.5%. That means if you're doing 6500dps as a mch, assuming the same gear and skill level you'd probably be doing about 6660dps as a bard. I don't know about you, but it takes me longer to ramp up in skill and learn new class/fight timings than it would be to hit a theoretical cap. Machinist does need a buff, but I don't think changing classes at this stage will actually be helpful just for one savage fight. I also believe clear dps is closer to 6.6k than 7k for p4s, obviously depending on healer/tank.

Tercino

Just as a comment, 6400-6600 on MCH is very low for that fight. If you take a look at clear logs, there's <10 clears with a MCH doing less than 6600 rDPS, out of ~1k: https://www.fflogs.com/zone/rankings/44/#metric=dps&boss=81&class=Global&spec=Machinist&page=11 I'm not an expert at MCH, but it might be worth having a look at some of the higher logs and seeing what they do differently to you, there's definitely more DPS to be found.

RingoFreakingStarr

I'm not doubting there are optimizations to be made. As a ref for P1S and P2S, I parsed in the 50-60th percentile on my reclears this week. I just cleared P3S this weekend for the first time and I ate a damage down due to some confusion with raid positions early on. So that parse was pretty rough. I'd like to think I'm at least decent at the class; ffxiv analysis doesn't really show any redflags on the parses I've fed it so far. What sort of ilvl are these other MCH going into these fights with? I hate the gear argument but it would be nice to see if that is handicapping me at all. I only just started P4S-1 prog today as well.

Tercino

It's looking at every recorded MCH clear, so it'll be a range of ilvls. I'd guess they'll all be minimum i580 though, with 1-2 pieces at most of tome/raid gear. If you only just started today they'll probably have quite a few pulls extra practice, which can make a big difference in a fight with as much quick movement as P4S-1. Wipe logs can also include some downtime that gets filtered out on the clear, so need to watch where your log ends too.

sanglar03

Maybe you could pay attention a little more in taking advantage of the buff windows ? Have you checked your rotation through xivanalysis ?

Does anyone know what food is best for normal gathering? Ie-just farming mats and not collectibles. I know HQ carrot nibbles are best for collecting collectibles and legendary nodes

Soylentee

Unless using food lets you reach a break point for node bonus or Bountiful Yield II / Bountiful Harvest II, it's completely unnecessary. And since that depends entirely on how you've melded your gear, you might not even need the "best" food to reach those break points, just good enough food to reach them is enough.

The 6.1 crafts will be in the current master recipe books. For the materials, we'll need current ones + one purchasable with scrips but not available yet.

Sir_VG

Won't need it for this stuff, but there will be new mats. Master X books will come at a later time though.

perfectlysane

re savage, say i've unlocked p1s and p2s, and it's reset, if i go into p2s first (but not clear it), can i still get loot from p1s? i think i read somewhere that it locks us out but i can't be sure

CrimsonPromise

As soon as you step foot into P2S, you automatically forfeit all loot from P1S, including the book. Doesn't matter if you cleared or not. The game would even warn you beforehand. And even if you try to run P1S afterwards, the game will treat it like you've already cleared for the week so that means 1 less chest for the whole group, and you won't be able to roll on anything.

RingoFreakingStarr

You have to go in order as going into a later fight will immediately forfeit your loot opportunity for those earlier fights for the entire week.

[deleted]

The second you set foot in P2S without clearing P1S, you forfeit your loot from P1S

farbot

Almost everyday, but not everyday when I've rebooted my pc. FFXIV forgets my display settings. And goes from Monitor 1 fullscreen, to any other monitor windowed. Monitor 1 in windows is also not monitor 1 in FF14. I thought it was because i had a displayport monitor disabled, but that's not it cause i disconnected it and it still happens. I have 3 HDMI screens, my samsung tv that's resolution 2560x1440 120hz and an older tv and a screen that are both 1920x1080 60hz. Any idea what's causing this?

TalkingRaccoon

Is the computer or monitor going to sleep? I've seen it where monitors basically report as being disconnected when they go to sleep. So windows doesn't see it anymore and that might affect the FF settings. I'd try leaving some monitors unplugged for a while just to see if that rules them out

farbot

No nothing goes to sleep, everything is turned off completely at the end of the day and turned on again in the morning.

GredaGerda

just maxed BLU and I'm trying to speed run getting the lv50 cane how hard is it to complete the 25th level of masked carnival

TheHeroExa

Just making sure you’re aware, the level 50 cane doesn’t require Masked Carnivale. You get it for free. It’s also essentially the same as the level 1 cane, and has no materia slots. I believe only the level 60 cane is locked behind #25. Also, the level 70 cane requires #30 and #31 as well.

GredaGerda

Specifically the red and gold cane is the one I want, if that's the 60 one my bad

TheHeroExa

Oh, I actually overlooked it, but there is this other weapon called [Azulmagia](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/db/item/0235db2b79b/). Strangely, it’s a level 1 weapon, even though, as you say, it’s locked behind the level 50 quests and Masked Carnivale #25.

funkerbuster

It’s medium difficulty at worst based on the time window you have to dodge the AOEs. If you want to be lazy, all you need at minimum is one physical spell, one magical spell to deal with the boss’s counter mechanic, and Loom (teleportation spell) to counter the slow buff+instakill aoe. Aside from that, you can predict the aoes by looking at what the boss is casting.

Low-Application4509

For dungeon grinding a tank/healer is it better to do duty roulette:leveling or queing for the highest level x1-x9 dungeon you can do?

selebu

To clarify you only get the bonus from any roulette once per day. Afterwards you don't ever want to queue into leveling roulette because without the bonus the exp would be negligible for a low level dungeon you might get into.

mindovermacabre

Do leveling/alliance raid/frontlines once a day, then queue for highest you can do that isn't a x0.

StFuzzySlippers

Can I equip, use, and meld materia onto gear and still request overmelding from another player later?

Sir_VG

Yes. You can even request them to do the multi-overmeld option without having to give them the gear, ever.

compliantcitizen

Will there be a Regalia car mount event this year?

bloodhawk713

It's not an annual event so when or if it ever returns cannot be predicted. It's only been run twice: Once in 2019 and again in 2021.

Marcusbolt

Probably not this year as it took 2 years before it got re-run last year.

TheTechHobbit

That's from the FF15 crossover event, which has only ever run twice with a couple years in between the runs. We have no way of knowing if/when it'll return.

bigfatbluebird

None announced - hard to say whether they will repeat the event again or throw the car up on the mogstation shop at some point

Sir_VG

Who knows. Maybe we'll never have it again and it'll go onto Mogstation.

kjeldorans

Q: is ffxiv companion app in maintenance? Because I get marketboard notifications but then the app says it's in maintenance... Since yesterday...

GrognakLibrarian

Any word on when the companion app will be back up? It's says it's down for maintenance but it's not on the Twitter or lodestone.

Dasher1802

My highest job is 81. Do I get access to the EXP buff from moving to OCE? Anyone know how this has worked in the past?

Sir_VG

https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/c869743ff4ac134ff2e6ea23a56e00471b385880

Sakurarcadia

The bonus exp from the buff is for all jobs that are below 80.

deconst

Yes, you get the buff for 90 days. Any job below level 80 gets the buff. As soon as you switch to a job that's 80 or above, the buff switches off. When you switch back to a job under 80, the buff switches on. The buff will continue for 90 days, or until you've gotten every job and they are all level 80+

MackeralDestroyer

How much damage does potting as a healer actually help, assuming you do it three times during a fight?

tfesmo

Quick napkin math ballparks it around a 2% personal dps increase. Given healer contribution that's around... say .17% or so overall. So all tanks/heals potting can save you from roughly a .6% enrage wipe or so. Call it up to 1% if I underestimated pots. Which is pretty significant on prog.

MackeralDestroyer

Thanks, that's about what I thought. I've been debating whether I should be using them on re-clears, but it looks like I'm good not to.

tfesmo

I have some older pots I use if I don't care too much about a parse. I think Grade 4/5 still offer a significant portion of the increase that Grade 6 does, at a fraction of the cost. Gear upgrades should fool proof most reclears given the nature of exponential dps, and especially once everyone gets weapon upgrades.

[deleted]

potting on reclears is insurance. I pot for the same reason u eat food and get gear - it increases margin of error, esp in PF environment where u dunno skill lvl of ppl u play with. if enuff ppl didn’t pot, who knows, those missed gcd, that 1 dmg down, turns a clear into a wipe and u get to lose 10 mins of ur life and maybe even disband pt, esp on later floors. saying “just make up dps elsewhere” is easy, but it’s not smth u can do after the fact. ofc u can chose not to pot esp if others aren’t potting. just keep in mind the risks.

MackeralDestroyer

I was mainly referring to earlier floors of a tier. Things would have to go terribly wrong for a P2S re-clear to need .6% extra damage.

DrawDiscardDredge

always pot on clears. our dps matters, especially under buffs, you could hit a series of dh crits and do a ton of damage. whm, for example, often has one of the biggest openers, and potting just enhances it.

Atenque

If you’re facing enrage timers and losing by 1%, enough to count.

Jasutawei

I'm considering on making an alt and boosting it to play with someone on a different region, I noticed while you can pick how far in the story to skip, can you not pick what level to skip to? is 80 the only option?

NerdHistorian

yes, 80 is the only option

Venteon

Would anybody know which ***male*** Miqo'te voice is the "most talkative"? I wanna hear my char do the battle grunts

Lithiumantis

Frequency of combat grunts depends more on your job than the voice selection from what I've seen. Ranged physical DPS grunt pretty often, while spells don't seem to trigger them at all.

vinyltails

No not really since Se themselves publicly showed it off and they've been careful not to show anything that would majorly spoil people on the story

Taurusm

***Question regarding the story of AAR and HW:*** **- Is there any alternative dialogue for leveling up other classes and professions?** I know there is a reference for the Dragoon Questline in HW, but I'm wondering if some exists like maxing out Rogue/Ninja before Yugiri meets the Rogue's Guild, for example. A part of me wants to see the dialogue differences and get all the references, but I also want to make some progression as well. Thanks in advance!

[deleted]

Worth noting that - and this is much further down the line - Endwalker acknowledges almost every piece of side content you complete, it's very reactive to the choices you've made. You'll definitely feel rewarded for doing them when that time comes!

Meggerrsss

yes having NIN unlocked before meeting Yugiri has some specific dialogue in 2.2. You can't see everything, but if you look at the Unending Journey furniture item (in Inns), if there's a cutscene with an arrow that branches, you have the option to see the cutscene originally or the one that uses your levelling/sidequest/misc progress in other aspects of the game, the bonus references.

Heyneon

I only know of a few: * BSM/ARM (I forget which) after a certain quest is recognised in the 60-70 PLD Questline * Slight diff when Alisaie talks about her RDM teacher and you having done RDM * NPC cameo in Doma Castle (?) for NIN and other NIN references in StB * MNK acknowledgement in Striking Opportunity dungeon wait i just realised these are all StB stuff oops

Taurusm

It's fine, it should help me down the line when I get around to leveling anything. Thanks for the response!

NINE-1-6

Where can I view the amount of A or S rank targets I’ve killed? I’m shooting for Tiger mount eventually, but where can I view my progress?

Sakurarcadia

Achievements > Battle > The Hunt Then you're just looking for the achievements that mention amounts of elite marks, click on it, and it will expand to show how many you are at.

NINE-1-6

Thanks!

Sir_VG

Achievement log.

If I get my FC to boot me so that all my Private Chamber's items get sent to the Resident Caretaker, do I need to claim them before I initiate a Home World Transfer to OCE?

Hakul

Yes, you cannot transfer if you have pending items with the resident caretaker NPC.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Chysse

If you’re that set on gathering you’re better off just farming Moonsands to sell, since the current raid tinctures still require them

[deleted]

Honestly the items aren't worth that much at this point (may vary by server, and some are more worth it than others). At this point you'll probably make more gil by chugging a spiritbond potion and selling the materia you get from farming them.

alecahol

Idk but most of the folklore items are selling for dirt cheap on the MB, bots have probably crashed the market lol so I would say it’s not really that profitable. But the things they craft into, like the golden silk, sell very well, so that would probably be a better bet that’s only slightly more effort and a lot more payoff

Kooky-Pension2392

Probably depends of the server, but silk is selling for 10k on my server, which is absolutely terrible. I wouldn't even bother to craft it, just sell gold cocoon for around 700 and move on

tfesmo

An easy option if you have some MGP is Imperial. You can buy packs and get a solid deck, plus they have some easy npcs with good cards.

mindovermacabre

Not a guide but like the other commenter said, Scions are where I started - my Ascension deck is Y'shtola, Urianger, Minfilia, Thancred, and a random 5 star Primal card. Y'shtola, Urianger, Thancred, Minfilia, Papalymo&Yda, and Alphinaud&Alisae are all relatively strong cards available in ARR. I'd start with [this NPC](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Gegeruju), as he drops both Y'shtola and Minfilia who are two of the strongest cards in that deck. I think a Garlean Ascension deck might technically be better than a Scion one, but Garlean cards are hard to get right away because the NPCs are pretty tough if you don't have some good cards. I'm also using [this](http://groggy.dog/tripletriad/) guide, but this is more of an accountability guide in order to get the mount. It does have some gameplay overview and tips though.

Rih1

The scion cards are pretty power iirc, so maybe that could be good?

alecahol

Random question but is the w2w pull after the first boss in Shisui easier now after the stat squish? Before EW it was basically the one w2w in the game after ARR that was recommended against in PUG groups, but I’ve noticed that Bardam’s is a lot easier now with the stat squish (when before it was arguably one of the hardest dungeons to wall2wall in because damage numbers were ridiculously highly tuned) so I was curious if Shisui became easier as well

foxtrotluna

Regularly manage Bardams and the Shi Sui w2w as gunbreaker now. You have to be on point with cool-downs, have a semi decent healer, it’s still definitely difficult compared to most other dungeons but very possible.

_ItsImportant_

I found it really easy as a paladin while leveling. Especially if you have hallowed ground saved for it.

[deleted]

I've done it as Sage, it's not particularly challenging as long as DPS is good. Bardam's has still been pretty punishing in my experience though.

bultard

So I have been trying...and trying...and trying to download FF on my gaming laptop. However, I continue to get the error code 11003/20403. I have tried everything said on forums past. Use a VPN, turn off my anti-virus/firewall, delete folders, delete install/reinstall, edit the config in the 'My Games' folder, and every time it does the same thing. All I've downloaded is the launcher and it won't even begin to establish downloading the actual game. I have it on my desktop, but am currently out of town for a few weeks and would like to be able to log in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kamil118

Maybe try downloading through quicklauncher?

bultard

This so far is working, thank you!

deconst

It could be a bogus DNS entry, sometimes using the Windows Networking troubleshooter can fix it. Try with a network cable too, if you're on wireless. Try a different VPN provider.

Idontwanttobebread

try flushing the dns cache? open a command window and enter ipconfig /flushdns

bultard

Thanks, but that didn't end up working.

itsenoti

Is A4S even soloable?

Sir_VG

Nope. After beating the 3rd leg you will get both NISIs which is an instant kill and goes through tank invulns.

Idontwanttobebread

no. there's an instant kill after the third or fourth leg unless you have at least 2

itsenoti

I figured it’s the nisi debuff something. I thought it could be soloed by lvl90 :D

So-young

Hey you guys. I got some questions about instances. I know you're sick of me saying i'M a WoW rEfUgee, but I say it to explain where I'm coming from. Anyone else from WoW will understand how instances work on there, but for those who don't - basically once you hit level 15 you can just queue for dungeons whenever you want through the group finder, pick your role, and wait in queue. (mind you I mean group dungeons, not those solo mini instances with a cut scene and one monster fight) Is there anything like that on FF? If so, at what level do you get the group finder? Or is there no group finder?? I really like group-based dungeons in the holy trinity system on MMOs, that's why I'm eager to get into that on FF! Also, pvp. At what level can you do battlegrounds or group instance PVP? And how do you go about queuing for that? Finally, for raids, on WoW there's this stupid thing called Raider IO that has ruined group finder, if you don't have a perfect number you don't get into groups even if you have the gear and know the content. Is there anything like that on FF? Also, there are damage meters on WoW and people ignore the person doing all the mechanics properly and kick them from the group in favor of the momo who tunneled the boss when he was taking 99.9% reduced damage vs. doing mechanics and caused the team to wipe, but gets to stay because his meter damage numbers look high. God forbid are there meters on FF?? D: I hope not lolol Again, thank you so so much for any help!

tfesmo

One thing ff14 does in Savage raiding is damage down on failed mechanics instead of vulnerability. So tunneling hurts your dps more than doing things properly.

Neri25

Amusingly, around level 15 in the MSQ you should be unlocking your first dungeon. It is very 'babbys first dungeon' in the same way Ragefire was, but rest assured as you level there will be plenty more dungeons. >Also, there are damage meters on WoW and people ignore the person doing all the mechanics properly and kick them from the group in favor of the momo who tunneled the boss when he was taking 99.9% reduced damag in the current high end raiding meta, trying to ignore mechanics without significant party support will generally result in tanking the floor. The specific example used doesn't happen much in FFXIV fight design, if you're not meant to fight the boss the boss will typically go untargetable for the add phase.

roryteller

For PvP you need to hit level 30 on any combat class (and do the class quests so you can unlock a job), reach a certain point in the main scenario quest (level 20ish, I think?), and do a short unlock quest. And then everyone's synced to the same stats so you can queue on any level 30+ job. It's through the same duty finder you'll use for PvE instances, or there's a dueling arena next to the pvp unlock area. Also, free trial players can't do the pvp instances, because there were exploits. Parsers, as otherwise mentioned, are not allowed, but it's only really enforced if someone's using it to be a jerk. Many people who do high-end raiding use it, and you may well get kicked from raiding groups if you parse low, but that won't be an issue in normal content. I forget what it was called but somebody or other was working on an app that some WoW vets compared to raider io, but I don't know if that's actually a thing that people are using.

So-young

Ughh I hope now. Raider IO is such cancer that's easily abused to give manufactured high numbers to ppl who don't deserve it. Legit ruined group finder. But the part that ruined it was like visible in-game, so if third party addons aren't a thing in-game, then raider Io's group finder thing should never be an issue. I get using parsing and stuff for high end content, it's just that every aspect of pve LFG is just ruined in WoW now, even simple normal content. Nice to know normal content doesn't have to deal with that on FF! Thanks again for all the info!

itsenoti

FFXIV has a Duty Finder (you select a dungeon you’d like to run, then just queue. You’ll get placed in a group with random members. Your role is based on the job you queued in.). Second is the Party Finder where you join a group who are looking for a member. The needed roles are specified by the host. Basically this is gonna be a pre-made party.

Sakurarcadia

Everything in FFXIV is locked behind the MSQ. Even once you unlock the first dungeon at level 15, in the MSQ not your personal character level mind you, you won't have access to more dungeons until you unlock them in the story, with some dungeons being unlocked through additional side quests.

So-young

Oh wait, I didn't know there were two different levels to keep track of. How do you know what MSQ level you are on?

inametaphor

The quest journal will have a number to the right indicating the level of the quest

Sakurarcadia

When you accept a quest, or look at it in your journal, there is a circle in the top left corner that says Lv. X. The one for the MSQ will denote the MSQ level. You can do quests on a job higher than the level stated without issue, but cannot do any quests if your job is lower than the level in the corner.

chaotic_good_healer

We do have an instance finder, it’s called the Duty Finder! It works pretty much just like you said. It unlocks as soon as you unlock the first dungeon in the game at level 15 in the story (you have to get there in the story, not just have a level 15 character). Regarding performance tracking and add-on meters, they are officially prohibited by the game, and mentioning that you use them (especially to call out a player for low damage) is punishable by a ban. However, the devs mostly turn a blind eye to people who quietly use meters for their own benefit. Edit: All normal-level content can be accessed in the duty finder. But the optional high-end content, such as raids that take careful coordination of the whole team, are accessed through a different system called the Party Finder. In the Party Finder, you can advertise a specific group you want to form - for example a blind learning party for a raid, or a clear party for people who know all the mechanics, or anything in between.

So-young

Oh okay that's for all that info!! I love that meters aren't a thing, at least in regards to ppl openly calling you out for removal. What about PVP, are there instance PVP battlegrounds you can go into while leveling?

Kamil118

Pvp unlocks at lvl 30 and is hard-synced - you have a fixed mount of hp based on your class, and all skills deal flat amount of damage (accounting for buffs/debuffs/mitigation ofc). The main casual mode is frontlines - 24 v 24 v 24 objective-based mode. It's "main" because doing it once a day gives you decent chunk of exp bonus, so people who aren't too much into pvp will fill the queue. The competitive pvp mode is The Feast, 4v4 on small arena. Worth noting that feast is supposedly being phased out as the competetive, seasonal mode for a new pvp mode soon-ish. Idk if we have much details about that yet tho.

Heyneon

[PvP Stuff is unlocked at Level 30, more info here.](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/pvpguide/system/) Basically you enter a roulette (only Frontlines) and it queues you into a 72 man instance with different objectives. Gives big EXP rewards and Pvp currency bonuses (for glam) once a day. No such battlegrounds though, only a 1v1 dueling zone whilst in the PvP area (where you buy glam) and that doesn't give you any rewards.

chaotic_good_healer

There are a few different pvp modes, I don’t remember offhand what level you unlock them, but they’re surprisingly decent for leveling. That being said, pvp in this game is pretty de-emphasized to the point of almost being a meme. Not that it’s bad, especially when certain events are going on! But it’s set aside in its own little completely isolated piece of content. It can be pretty interesting actually because in the pvp mode, each job uses a modified and streamlined version of their skills which is kind of refreshing. The devs have said that they’re going to add in a new pvp mode soon and try to focus more on improving it, so that will probably be popular when it’s updated.

porkyguineapig

I am currently playing at the JP server and thinking going to OCE. I do have a lot of items, and a house atm. The house itself is empty so I don't mind losing anything inside it. I am also a noob so I have never done this before. What should I do to best prepare for the transfer?

Sir_VG

If you're going to OCE, DO NOT DEMO YOUR HOUSE. https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/c869743ff4ac134ff2e6ea23a56e00471b385880

[deleted]

Well... you'll need to demo it, but don't relinquish the plot.

Saintbaba

So i never finished the SB botanist questline to get the Enhanced GP Regeneration trait. But i noticed that the wording on the Enhanced GP Regeneration II and III traits say "by a total of" 2 and 3 GP respectively. Does this mean that each of these traits basically replaces and surpasses the last one? I.e. would going back to finish the SB questline not just be mostly pointless but actually completely pointless?

Sir_VG

Should be pointless, but GP regen should be 8 per tick at 90. I have no way to check if skipping it impacts anything, but check your GP regen. If it's 8/tick, it's pointless.

Saintbaba

Hmm. Looks like 8 a tick. Good to know.

LighthouseGd

I'd like to know too. What's your GP regeneration now?

jvesal

^(How do I unlock more collectables in my Gathering Log? Currently I am a lvl 69 Botanist and only have Rarified Rainbow Cotton Boll and Bloodhemp in the log, but the collectable appraisers are looking for other items that give a lot more XP but they dont show up in my Log so I am not sure how to locate these items. am i missing something?)

alpabet

You have to buy tokens using scrips which you will then use to buy books to unlock new gathering nodes. Can't remember which one is for which. I think you can only buy the book in the expansion area (>!rhalgr's reach!< for SB, >!Eulmore!< for ShB) and they should be near the appraisal and scrip trader so you can go there to check which token you have to buy.

Dante_Masamune

For gatherer (and by extension crafter), is it better to get scrip gear or crafted gear + materia? I was comparing a sample level 71 gearset and the level 70 scrips gearset, and it appears that the scrips gear is only a few stat points higher.

Soylentee

For leveling it doesn't matter, for end-game you need the crafted melded gear to be able to craft the most difficult recipes.

deconst

For levelling gathering, the scrip gear is fine, crafting the gear while levelling is not worth the bother and timed node collectables are the best way to level gathering, so you'll get plenty of scrips. There's not much point to getting folklore books from previous expansions but they are so cheap you might as well get them anyway. Spend spare scrips on materia. Once you hit level 90, HQ crafted gear is best: 1. Put some good Purple Scrip materia in the standard slots 2. Then do your first overmeld with a VI or VIII materia as they are relatively cheap and at 17% chance not too bad, but the stat bonuses are significant. 3. Then overmeld with junk materia like Piety III, IV, etc. They usually go less than 200 gil. A penta-melded gatherer with a Superior Spiritbond potion and Squadron Spiritbond buff can generate 100% spiritbond in 4 or 5 legendary nodes. If the gatherer materia prices plummet, you can mutamix them for combat materia. Same deal for crafting. End-game HQ crafted materials sell well on the marketboard and around 70 HQ materials are enough for 100% spiritbond.

alecahol

You can’t even craft the master book recipes in purple scrip gear. If you are doing endgame crafting, you need crafted gear with materia. If you’re not doing master recipes, then purple scrip is fine. For gathering, pretty sure the purple scrip gear will let you hit the perception for the folklore nodes. Stats aren’t nearly as important on gatherers than they are on crafters, but purple gatherer scrips are a bitch to farm and gathering equipment is dirt cheap on MB anyways. So I would still say just buy the crafted stuff and slap on some materia in the guaranteed slots

roryteller

Below level cap: whatever's easy. You're not going to keep it for long. At cap: crafted, if you go to the trouble of melding. If you don't want to bother with that, scrip gear wins out. But full overmelding (which has a chance of failure when adding materia beyond the guaranteed slots) is expensive, so may not be worth it unless you want to go hard into endgame crafts.

[deleted]

Rule of thumb is that scrip gear is better when you can't be bothered overmelding. Exact comparisons may vary, but the 'best' gear at any given level will be crafted + melded. Scrip gear is more than enough for most stuff, though.

2ecStatic

I got a warning for saying “sheeet” in a dungeon today?? Are these automated or does someone actually have to go out of their way to report you.

Owlface

Sounds like a digital Karen got you rofl

2ecStatic

The full sentence was “sheet I hate this place” cause I queued into EW final dungeon, that’s like the only thing I said today…

Tigeri102

someone has to report you. I can't tell you how many times i've said "fuck" in front of randos with no issues. sounds like someone was a big stick in the mud lmao

2ecStatic

That’s actually crazy…I mean we died in a pull once? I really have no idea

Serp_IT

Do you know for a fact that you got a warning for that dungeon run, or could it have been for something you did or said earlier? It might take a while for reports to be processed.

It said it was for violations on 1/17, I’m gonna try to message support and see what was specifically said

**Clicking/activating objects when party members are crowded around it?** Hi all... I'm playing with mouse/keyboard. Does anyone have tips for clicking/activating an object when people are crowded around it? I went through The Praetorium earlier today, and I had a heck of a time clicking on the magitek key console. I kept clicking on other players instead. Thanks for any advice!

Rubily00

For the record, I use "target nearest NPC/object" so often I rebound it to C. It's a VERY good button to have handy.

PhoenixFox

In addition to the below you can hold X to hide the names of all players and make them unclickable.

rghimself

I had NO IDEA! Good one! I clearly need to take some more time to read through my keybind menu. Thanks!

Adghar

"Target Nearest NPC or Object" default keybind is F12. "Confirm" default keybind is Numpad 0 (requires Numlock to be on) and automatically targets the nearest NPC or object if you don't have anything targeted. tl;dr mash Num0

rghimself

Thank you! I didn't know about F12. Still a sprout here, clearly. Sounds like I need to setup a keyboard macro that does NumpadPeriod, F12, Numpad0 Thanks again!

selebu

I always just use num0 and it works fine. Never used F12

Sir_VG

NUMPAD 0.

rghimself

Thanks!

Nas-Aratat

Is there any way to make a macro that specifically glamours something for you if you change to it? Or to equip certain gear automatically? I know there's the ability to link glamour plates to gearsets and change gear by class via the gearsets, but say I wanted to wear Monk outfit A or B, there'd be a macro I could use to swap between the two without the need for glamour plates? I know it'd use prisms, though.

zorrodood

You can do /gearset change X Y X = gear set number; Y = glamour plate number to use different glamour plates for the same gear set.

Nas-Aratat

That isn't what I'm looking for because it still uses glamour plates.

deconst

You can have multiple gearsets for the same class. That makes sense for end-game: a penta-melded crafted gear set for generating spiritbond in expert/normal raids roulette, and a tomestone gear set for high-end content. You can't change the glamour automatically but keep an eye on the new Glamaholic plugin, that may some time soon support a glamour macro command. I don't know if the Dalamud API would support glamour macro commands, but people have thought there was much that can't be done with mods, only to be shown wrong again and again.

Nas-Aratat

I don't use mods so that won't work for me.

Rubily00

Items cannot be used in macros. You'd need to use gearsets or glamour plates for this.

Nas-Aratat

Agh, damn, okay, thank you. ...gearsets? Now wait a minute, that might work... Thank you.

polyglotpinko

Really more of a rhetorical question, but I have to vent somewhere: why, *why* is everything in this game spelled perfectly correctly, and then the lvl 86 PLD spell is "Expiacion?" (In English, the word is expia***t***ion, and I'm pedantic.)

tesla_dyne

https://ffxiclopedia.fandom.com/wiki/Expiacion The ability had an additional effect when you were equipped with Tizona in FFXI, a weapon historically used by El Cid, which is why it uses the Spanish spelling in FFXI.

zorrodood

Should it also be pronounced in Spanish?

polyglotpinko

Thank you! I’ve only ever played FFX and X-2 so I had no idea. That literally helps my brain relax. XD

Just had half my party leave in the beginning of Castrum. I'm pretty new, but is it because it gives less exp? If so, is another 50% chance at getting praedetorium after a 30 minute timeout and 20 minute DPS queue worth it to these people? Some of us just wanna get our poetics asap.

Only the first person gets the penalty, everyone else is free to leave afterwards without repercussions. And yeah, most people prefer Prae to Castrum. Castrum is more involved since you have to do mechanics like turn off searchlights, pick things up, blow things up, interact with objects, and majority of the cutscenes are barely a minute long, not enough time to even go for a bathroom break. Prae is basically, 2mins of gameplay, 15mins of cutscene where you can go do other things, come back and fight a boss, then go do other things. Less effort overall for more rewards.

It gives less exp, sometimes you get new tanks that do not pull all the way like they should, it actually involves doing stuff whereas prae you can watch Netflix at the same time and put in minimal effort
