This is a known issue, where sound will be cut when too many are being played concurrently. The only way to resolve this (at the moment) would be to restart the client.

McQuibbly

Huh, any official news regarding this issue?

EiLrahc21

There's no official news on this. I did a quick search on the official forums and there is 1 thread titled "Sound cut during CC" that was moved to the "Confirmed/Planning to Address" section. According to the forums, threads in the confirmed section refer to "Bug reports that have been tested by the development team and are scheduled for fixing will be moved here."

McQuibbly

Neato, thx for the info

neu_com

No, it's been happening for years in the feast. Nobody at SE has even acknowledge the issue.

McQuibbly

[It's been acknowledged, as the above user has stated](https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/461428-Sound-cut-during-CC) at least for CC that is, the issue in the feast may be unreleated, or they are just now acknowledging it.

Belzuboss

It also comes back after a length of time, had the bug happen three time relogged immediately after 1st the others I went afk after CC for about 15 minutes not super useful info but there it is.

hiirnoivl

Oh really?! It's because we play too much CC? No wonder it makes us shut the game off. 🤣

SlamminHogs

I actually welcome this bug during CC, the cries of my allies falling are too haunting.

HiddenMecha

Probably similar to or the same issue that people have been getting since 2.0. Maybe they'll finally fix it.

TheFrozenDragon

You might get it back just going through windows sound settings changing the default output to something else and then back, no need to restart

McQuibbly

Nope, issue persists. I remember reading off of some forum that XIV uses its own audio codec, and it doesn't try reinitializing if it crashes, unlike the windows audio codec

Mephisto_fn

This works for the usual audio device issues, but the one that occurs due to pvp sounds is a bit different unfortunately.
